IAMP meets Under Different Circumstances part 1

Under Different Circumstances

Difference of Circumstances

The Other Side of Things I

At long last, IAMP meets UDC.

This is for Standardizedbogey, Sillylittleteaparty and Lomitzz on Tumblr. The first two write absolutely incredible stories on Oliver and Jean, which I fell in love with, and Lomitzz makes absolutely amazing art. Therefore, I inspired myself from their characterisation and I hope I gave Oliver justice in this. If not, I apologise, I tried.

This one is for all the Gondoliers!

Oli

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. )

He’ll sleep in whatever position the cocoon makes.

2. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.

Due to a diet of coffee and pretty well nothing else, he’s incredibly thin. Interventions have been held.

3.Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?

The further north he is, the more stereotypical his Canadian accent becomes.

4.Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?

He says ‘eh’ quite a bit, and considerably more when he’s drunk. His in laws (typically also drunk at the time) don’t hide how amusing they find this.

5. What are their chief tension areas?

The shoulders, typically.

6. If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?

(Pass)

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?

He doesn’t have a particularly good impression of himself.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?

He goes out of his way to be at least a step or two ahead of whoever he’s talking to.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.

He has dreams he doesn’t remember, and mostly sleeps in bursts.

10. If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?

He loves driving, especially classic cars, but he’s well-acquainted with public transport.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?

He’s not a believer, and hasn’t been for a while now, but isn’t opposed to festivities.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.

(Pass)

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?

Many times. He likes working on engines to take breaks.

14. Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?

He tends to prefer to do things alone, which also leads him to take on too much at a time.

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?

He usually has at least 5 projects going at any one time.

16. What is their best school subject? What is their worst?

He’s best at math and science, he’s worst at gym.

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?

He’s an introvert more often than not, and can lose himself in his projects if he doesn’t pay attention.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?

He’s so used to the leadership role that he has issues settling into anything else.

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?

He’s very willing to fight, especially if he thinks he can win.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?

He’s much more the sort who’d like to see his enemy live in misery. Death is too final.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?

(Pass)

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?

He rarely trusts anyone completely, and it takes a while for him to start.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

He tends to be very starved for affection so he responds to it quickly. Over-romancing or sexuality, though, flusters him easily.

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?

All of his siblings, at one point or another.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?

He tends to take control no matter what position he’s in.

26.How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?

He tends to at least read a chapter in bed before he goes to sleep. If he can’t manage, he does some work.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

He’s sorry for forgetting about them so easily.

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?

He’s contemplated suicide more than once due to his regrets, but he knows the nature of him won’t allow it.

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?

He prefers things quiet, or with classical music in the background. It allows him to get plenty of work done.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?

Fancy coffees.

Alex

1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.

He’s a spooner.

2. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.

He’s not a particularly tall guy, which often catches people off guard.

3.Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?

He’s done a great deal to have a very smooth, professional accent. When he’s very distracted or very emotional, though, he gets a deep Brooklyn twang.

4.Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?

He can never manage to say ‘coffee’ how he’d like.

5. What are their chief tension areas?

Since he does so much cardio, it’s typically in his legs.

6. If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?

(Pass)

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?

He has an exceedingly positive self-image, even if it’s not earned sometimes.

8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?

He’s a very quick thinker, and uses it to his advantage as much as possible.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.

He generally just relives his day when he dreams.

10. If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?

He takes public transportation when he doesn’t have the option of a bike, and when he has the option of neither he’ll be driven. His license has been snapped too many times foim to consider driving.

11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?

He pretty well only goes on holidays, these days.

12. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.

(Pass)

13. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?

He takes most things in stride, he’s in far too many important deals at any given time not to, but when he can’t take it he’s not unknown to disappear a while. Egg creams in tiny diners are his favorite comfort food.

14. Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?

He tends to take over any team he’s on, and doesn’t notice when he becomes the only one on it (which has happened more than once).

15. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?

Alex isn’t the sort to find himself with only one task to do very often, so he thoroughly enjoys any time he can.

16. What is their best school subject? What is their worst?

He excels at math and art, but since he’s so focused on what’s coming up he tends to stink at history.

17. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?

He’s very much an extrovert.

18. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?

He’s very much a leader, and has a hard time sitting back and letting someone else take over.

19. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?

He’s definitely going to fight it out.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?

All of the states at some point, but mostly his brothers.

21. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?

(Pass)

22. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?

He’s always on the lookout for how someone will take him down so that he can get a step ahead of them.

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

He’s very much a romantic, and is very willing to spread it around even if it’s only outwardly. The fastest way to his heart is definitely through sports (particularly baseball).

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?

Take your pick, he’s pretty well stepped over everyone he knows at some point to get to where he is.

25. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?

There are very few things he’ll say no to.

26.How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?

On the weekends he doesn’t wander back until the wee hours of the morning, but on weeknights he tends to be in bed early to handle what’s going on the next day.

27. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?

He doesn’t actually remember his parents. Because he ran away they had no way to contact him, and he can’t remember where it was.

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?

He makes a conscious effort not to dwell on the past

29. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?

He’s built for both a great deal of calm and the hecticness of the city. So, while he may prefer one over another at points, he doesn’t really mind either way.

30. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?

 Pizza, easily.

Amikyten asked for these

Amikyten asked for Team B, all…

Here I try and go.

  1. What position does your character sleep in? ( i.e; stomach, side, back, etc. ) Describe why they do this — optional.
V: All over the place. Really. He tosses and turns and takes up as much space as he’s given. He’s been known to kick and hit JP in his sleep, as well as push him off the bed. He also snores.

JP: Takes up very little space. Sleeps on his side, with an arm outstretched towards the person he’s sleeping with, if he is. If not, he likes to spoon. Does not snore.
  2. Does your character have any noteworthy features? Freckles? Dimples? A scar somewhere unusual? etc.
V: Has a very faint faint faint faint scar on his cheek from a thunderstorm incident, when he was small. The window shattered in his room and the glass cut his cheek. He has one on his hand as well.

JP: He has track marks on his arms. Has a curved scar on his left hand from “being punished because he wrote with his left hand” as a child. Has a faint line scar on his nose, from when V “accidentally” pushed him out of the tree house, when they were young. He also has a Fleur-de-Lys tattoo on his left shoulder blade.
  3. Does your character have an accent? What does it sound like?
V: He doesn’t. Well, he sounds Canadian when he speaks English and French, but no accent.

JP: Québécois and bad Québécois English. I’m sure that is self-explanatory. He can do refined French when he wants to be smooth, or when he’s being sincere and apologetic.
  4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
    V: Stammers when he’s embarrassed.

    JP: Answered this already.
  5. What are their chief tension areas?
    V: Shoulders

    JP: Neck
  6. If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why?
    V:  ….

JP: “The Devil in the Kitchen” – Ashley MacIsaac. Long story short, during the Vancouver Games opening, I heard this song and JP was fresh out of the womb and when I heard it, I went “that’s him. That’s JP.”
  7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?
V: A mixture of all three. He has moments when he sees himself as a really positive influence on his people/the country, and then it’ll change to neutral and on his less fantastic feeling days it’ll go to negative.

    JP: already answered.
  8. Are they a quick thinker or do they need time to sort through their thoughts?
V: Quick tinker on his feet, when it comes to making important business decisions. Knows what he wants and how to get it.

JP: Impulsive. That can either be good, or very bad.
  9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.
V: Dreams a lot. A looooooooot. Recurring nightmare is that JP ends up leaving him in one way or another. Has bouts of insomnia when he over thinks everything and his own insecurities come to bite him in the behind. He does the usual light reading, camomile tea/soft music listening, until he falls asleep.

    JP: already answered
  10. If they had a choice, would they prefer a subway or a bus for public transportation?
    V: Bus.

    JP: Metro.
  11. What do they think of creation? Do they believe in evolution or do they believe in God? What is their religion like?
V: He sees creation as a nice story. He believes in evolution. He also believes there’s a higher up way up there. Was raised to believe in religion. (V’s creator made him Catholic, I always wanted to make him originally Protestant. Therefore, raised to believe in religion.) However, he is now atheist. He will attend Easter and Christmas mass for the form and out of tradition.

JP: Believes in evolution. Still believes in God. Was raised Catholic and was a devout Catholic for many, many years. As much as he doesn’t practice as much as he used to, he still believes and still wears his cross around his neck out of habit, but also because he wants to.

  1. Describe 5 unusual characteristics your muse has.
    V: …
    JP: …
    Yo, chais pas, man.
  1. Have they ever been so overwhelmed they had to stop and take a break from something?
V: Yes, many times. Over work, over his own relationship with JP.

JP: Yes, over life, things happening at his place. It led him to take drugs.
  2. Are they a team player or do they prefer to be solo?
V: Team player. Everything for the team.

JP: Team solo. It’s all about him and the people he cares. He won’t go out of his way for people he can’t be bothered by.
  3. Can they multi-task or must they focus on one subject at a time?
V: He’s the king of multitasking. He puts other people to shame with his multitasking skills.

JP: He needs to focus on one subject at a time. Fails at multitasking.
  4. What are their best school subjects? What are their worst? List five of each.
V: Best: English, Math, Economics, History, Art
    V: Worst: Biology, Mechanics, Wood Shop, I don’t Know 1, I don’t Know 2

JP: Best: Gym, French, History, Art, Science
    JP: Worst: English, Computers & Technology, I don’t Know 1, I don’t Know 2, I don’t Know 3
  5. Is your character an introvert or an extrovert? How do they handle big crowds of people?
V: Extrovert. He likes the crowds. He used to love going out to parties. He still does, but he has less time.

JP: A mixture of both. He has moments when he wants the crowds and the people and to be in the middle of the action, but then he’ll have long periods of wanting to be with his small crowd of selected few, keeping things quiet and simple.
  6. Are they a leader, do they prefer to follow, or would they rather just stay on the sidelines altogether?
    V: Leader.
JP: Leader. Sometimes in a negative way.
  7. If your character was suddenly challenged, would they rather run away or stay and fight?
V: Would find someone else to fight/try to persuade the person not to fight.

JP: Man up and fight the good fight.
  8. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?
V: Again, it would probably be some “bad guy” that’s doing harm to people nowadays. Political leader who is preventing girls from going to school, kidnapper, bad political leader who does harm to his people, starts a war, etc. I don’t really have a specific person for him.

    JP: Déjà répondu.
  9. Your character has been granted 3 wishes; what would they wish for and why?
V: 1) World peace 2)12 Stanley Cups 3)If not, at least one new Stanley Cup

JP: 1) Mortality 2) Having children 3)Another Stanley Cup
  10. Does your character trust people right off the bat or does it take them some time to warm up to someone?
V: He goes by instinct. However, his instinct has been known to be very off at times and has put him in precarious situations.

JP: He also goes by instinct. His instinct is usually very accurate. If he gets good vibes from a person, he trusts them. There was a time when he didn’t trust anyone, however.
  11. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?
V: Affection. Vincent cannot romance. Being romantic is difficult for him. Not because he doesn’t want to, but he gets embarrassed and thinks he looks silly, trying to act romantic. JP thinks it’s adorable. Therefore, affection works better for him. He can give all the affection he wants. The quickest way to his heart would be being a Leafs fan. KIDDING. Being understanding. Or just a good shoulder rub, really.

    JP: Already answered.
  12. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?
V: Foggy glasses. They are evil and the bane of his existence. He’s not a big fan of contact lenses. The struggle is real.

    JP: Already answered.
  13. Do they have any weird bedroom habits? Any unusual kinks?
V: Let’s not go there. Ahahaha. More than is probably normal.

JP: A few, but is much more vanilla, compared to V.
  14. How does your character prepare for bed? Do they sleep at all or can they stay awake for days on end without trouble?
V: Needs to shower/wash up, before bed, no matter what. Wears pjs (usually including a stolen shirt from JP) Can easily do all nighters, but will eventually crash. Morning person. Can survive on few hours of sleep. (5-6) and function well during the day. Light sleeper.

JP: Not a morning person. Doesn’t feel the need to shower before going to bed, if he didn’t do much during the day. Will either sleep in the nude, or only wear underwear to bed/shorts/pants. Needs his sleep. Sleeps like the dead.
  15. If your character had one thing to say to their parents before they died, what would it be?
    Assuming Matthew is Papa
    V: I tried.

    JP: I’m sorry.
  16. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?
V: Yes and yes. He likes the idea of being immortal and knowing that he has many years ahead of him to try everything he wants to try and to right all the wrongs.

JP: No. He would welcome death. He has many regrets, though. Notably the way he treated his family during his more troubled years. At times; the outcome of certain elections and certain historical outcomes.
  17. Does your character get restless when things are too quiet or do they favour solitude and silence? Why?
V: He likes the quiet every now and again, but he needs his action and for things to be fresh and interesting. Quiet is for the end of the day and weekends.

JP: He’s perfectly fine with quiet. Quiet is good. It means things are going well. [Unless it’s a revolution. Bad joke #7]. Not so much solitude, but he enjoys quiet evenings with Vincent and quiet moments with him as well.
  18. Finally; if your character was forced to eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would they choose and why?
    V: …
    JP:  poutine.

Inspired by two pieces that Sillylittleteaparty wrote, on two different occasions. Forgive me.

IAMP

Family

When Mr. Kirkland came to get him, Oliver thought for sure that he would still see his mother and father and his two brothers, as often as he normally did. However, it became quite clear, within the following months that the best he would get would be a letter from home.

Send me a ship meme - qcon (of course) if you haven't already gotten it!

TEAM A (Team A is so hard to do. Why. Half of this is going to sound boring because I tend to follow your canon. Sorry. (Because not my created team, that’s why haha))

Who cooks: Jean. Everyone knows Oliver can’t cook.
Who does the laundry and other chores: Jean would probably do the laundry and dishes, Oliver the other chores.
How many children do they have: Canon land, none. AU land, sure, maybe, depends of the AU haha.
Who’s more dominate: Physically, Jean. In reality, mentally, Oliver. Anything that happens is usually because Oliver wants it to happen. He has Jean believe that he’s the one in charge most of the time, unless Oliver decides he wants Jean to surprise him.
Favorite nonsexual activity: Probably sitting out on the veranda drinking wine and just talking.
Their favorite place to be together: Somewhere quiet where they can unwind and be themselves.
Any traditions: Jean takes Oliver out on his birthday.
Their “song”: “Come to Me”  The Goo Goo Dolls (I don’t know, this song makes me think of them on good terms, for some reason.)
What they do for each other on holidays: Spend legitimate time together
Where did they go for their honeymoon: Nowhere. Let’s say it was an AU, just to give a better answer: I have a stupid AU one-shot idea where they have a very quaint destination wedding. So somewhere warm.
Where did they first meet: Once upon a time, many moons ago, when they were kinda forced to live together because of something called the Act of Union.
Any pets: Oliver has two cats.
• What do they fight over: Very stupid stuff. Usually different political ideologies that pull them apart. They’ll also discuss hockey results very passionately.
Do they go on vacations, if so where: On their good moments, they’d go from anywhere between Jean’s chalet and Oliver’s Niagara home/cottage, to destination vacations like anywhere warm to discovering quaint European towns.

TEAM B
Who cooks: Jean-Pierre. Although, Vincent can do basics under supervision
Who does the laundry and other chores:  JP does the cooking, grocery shopping, and laundry. Vincent does everything else.
How many children do they have: None in regular canon, much to JP’s chagrin. In AUs, it varies from 1 to 2. (That’s if it’s JP and Vincent. It varies more if it’s JP and Vivianne.)
Who’s more dominate: They’ve always been a very 50/50 couple, from the start. If they’re out in public, Vincent will be the one who’s more at ease and will initiate hand holding, cheek kisses, hugs, etc., but if they’re home, it’s a very even playing field and anything goes.
Favorite nonsexual activity: Reading together. They read books together that they’ve specifically picked out for this particular activity.
Their favorite place to be together: At the chalet.
Any traditions: Going up north for the holidays has turned into a tradition. I’m sure there are others, but I can’t think of any at the moment…
Their “song”: Édith Piaf “La vie en rose” Haha, I mean, euh… Sade “By Your Side” (I had a better song, can’t remember which it was.)
What they do for each other on holidays: Take time off from work, go up to the chalet for many days and indulge in very much needed “them” time.
Where did they go for their honeymoon: London. JP had never been and Vincent was surprised when he made the suggestion.
Where did they first meet: They were children, Act of Union time as well. It was when they had to start living together as one family.
Any pets: One dog, Monsieur, one cat, Duchesse
What do they fight over: Stupid little things. Usually relating to provincial political things that affect them and pull them apart. Sometimes over Vincent’s passive caring, when he decides that JPs things, requests, whatever aren’t important and ignores them. (Doing groceries if he asks, getting something done, etc.)
Do they go on vacations, if so where: They go anywhere from the chalet up north, to JP’s Quebec City apartment, and any other country they feel like visiting. They usually go on a combination birthdays and anniversary trip during the summer, since the three events are so close together.

Kid meme! (I'm not doing babyau cause self explanatory) sooo canon MbYk and, ignoring the rules of biology, twats.

MBYK:

  • Gender: Female
  • General appearance: Definitely takes after Kate, though she’s got her father’s nose
  • Personality: Very quiet until she gets comfortable with people, then quite bubbly
  • Special talents: She’s been taught to be quite handy, and is artistic when she has the time
  • Who they like better: Ilan because he’s easier to talk into things
  • Who they take after more: Kate, she’s more outdoorsy than Ilan ever was
  • Personal headcanon: Kate and Ilan end up just out of town with a house they had to seriously fix up on a wooded acre or two. They end up having to get one of those dinner bells to call their daughter back because she spends so much time playing in the trees.

Twats:

  • Gender: Male
  • General appearance: Born into a thoroughly-diverse culture he has a little bit of everything in him. It’s pretty hard to pin down any sort of nationality.
  • Personality: Very much an explorer, he wants to be a part of everything available
  • Special talents: He’s a charmer and is pretty good at winning over anyone who heads out with him
  • Who they like better: It would take him a bit to get used to the idea, but once he did Oli would mother and spoil the hell out of that kid
  • Who they take after more: Probably Alex, if only because he’d go out of his way to take the roll of mentor
  • Personal headcanon: I’m thinking, if only for population’s sake, the child would end up being NYC. After Oliver’s bosses got wind of it there’d be tons of pressure to produce a Toronto.

sillylittleteaparty asked:

Headcanon Game! Ilan, Kate, Marie, Annie, Victoria, Jean, Oli, Jane, Lloyd, George, Alex, Henry annnnnnnd Gwen

Ilan: He takes significantly better care of his canoe than his truck.

Kate: Her eyes flash with the northern lights

Marie: She’s a more proficient sailor than Joel is. She rarely shows it off unless she’s wanting to keep his ego in check.

Annie: Annie is a never ending trove of potato recipes.

Victoria: She had to grit her teeth to support the Hawks this Cup, but it was better than the alternative.

Jean: Baby!AU: He is constantly trading shifts so he never misses one of his boy’s events. They don’t always appreciate it.

Oli: He’s been eating a lot more protein since he moved in with Alex. No longer cannibalizing muscle, he’s convinced Alex is trying to get him fat because he’s no longer dangerously thin.

Jane: She’s expecting to have a buzz going from Monday to Sunday. Doing business with her has been useless unless Hawks stats can be involved.

Lloyd: His politicians have left him with a splitting headache, and he’s been impossible to talk to civilly for some time now.

George: He’s gotten so used to an urban landscape that he gets a bit edgy when things are too open.

Alex: He calls his neighbors ‘suburbs’, which he insists is a loving term.

Henry: He rarely brings his phone when he goes fishing, and with the frequency of his trips he’s often impossible to get a hold of.

Gwen: Her messenger animal is a grizzly. It simultaneously annoys and amuses her that everyone steers clear when he’s around

sillylittleteaparty asked:

twats. set in the George and Oli are roommate universe.

Housing in New York being what it is, it took pretty well all the money George and Oliver had to rent a space barely large enough for the two of them. So when Oliver met someone at the school, who came over with an cello which may as well have been another person, things quickly started to become unbearably cramped.

George wasn’t quite sure what he’d say about this, with the new beau a very friendly guy with a killer recipe for lasagna but also an intrusion which was only becoming more pronounced the more often he dropped by. After a lot of thought it became clear that he might also be a source of rent, perhaps enough to find them a place where they could all stretch out, and George was sure Oliver would be thrilled for that.

sillylittleteaparty asked:

George/Alex- Oops, Qu/On- Scare

(Changed it up, didn’t want the same sort of scenario between them and the Prairie Bros)

George had always flocked towards the urban, even in the early years where they were farmers before anything. He’d gone to it so thoroughly through the years that, doubtlessly, the rest of their siblings had forgotten that his nickname hadn’t been assigned thoughtlessly.

Alex hadn’t forgotten, though. When he was called to help in hurricane preparation, he was well aware what he’d be asked to barricade down.  He wore clothes from last season, which could be thoughtlessly ruined, and headed south.

The winds had whipped up by the time he made it to George’s apartment building, and even more so when the elevator made it to the top floor and the rooftop garden hidden there.

The pair of Lhasa mixes ran about between the planters, barked at the wind and only eventually at Alex.  Somewhere in the roar George told them to shut up for the millionth time as he struggled to fit tarps over his flowers and produce.

They exchanged a grin, quick as possible, as they forced the clamps down.  Many as they could while the wind whipped up and rain began to dot along the mud and cement of the roof.

Everything had managed to be covered before they finally conceded to follow the dogs inside.  Covered in mud, water, and stray leaves, they could only hope that it was enough over a victory cup of coffee and a warm blanket.

When they’d first brought Oliver to Jean, he’d had the face of a cherub and the eyes of an old man.  Arthur kept a hand clamped upon his wrist, which Oliver had seemed fine with.  He’d clearly been told a million stories of the monster he’d come to realize was a permanent neighbor and rival.

When he spoke, his French was quiet and exceedingly polite out of nerves.

The next time he was a teen, his limbs slightly ungainly and his hair cropped in the London fashion.  He held himself straight, his eyes half-lidded in feigned indifference, and his brow pulled down in the imposing manner he’d been taught.  The focus was far more on the ring that’d been placed on his finger, though.

His French had become curt and polite on a professional level, but nothing further than that.

When a person lived with a growing boy, it was easy to lose track of how quickly they aged. With Oliver it was impossible to miss, if primarily because it was from his own doing.  He used anything he was given, anything he had the opportunity to snatch, to build himself into a figure so much larger than the lean 20-something he appeared to be.

Humans could never understand that Oliver had become greater than any of them, even the other representatives seemed to have a problem with it as they flippantly challenged him until those aged eyes burned.  He’d chop off the hand which tried to take as much as a morsel off his plate, but time and again..

Oliver’s French had become biting, when he’d concede to use it at all.

The others spoke like they were scared of Oliver, when they weren’t angry at him, but Jean felt it naïve. Oliver was as broken as any of them, and could be taken down just as easily.  And that was the problem, at the end of the day.  For all the grooming, for all the growth and training, Oliver wasn’t far from crumbling back to the child who’d needed to be drug about because his feet were too wooden.

It’d be over for Oliver.  It would for all of them but especially Jean, and he wondered if any of them could understand that while they whispered irritably among themselves.  It might come someday, and he figured he should be prepared.

The day that Oliver lost his French entirely was the day it’d all end.

Bicycle, Trespass

Alex had his license snatched up and snapped in half within two months of having it, originally.  Since then, he’d been offered the privilege and had it likewise revoked three times.  According to his family, he was too aggressive behind the wheel, but he didn’t really believe them.

It didn’t bother him much, anyways.  He was an expert of subways and bus systems.  He loved striking conversations with cabbies and looking over paperwork in the back of limos.  When the city was in the right season, though, when a man could be outside for hours and never break a sweat, Alex pulled out his bike.

His Focus Izalco was sleek, and allowed him to slip in and out of the traffic that stood still upon the busy city streets.  On country roads it climbed effortlessly over hills and dirt roads.  It was certainly the best bike he’d owned in some time.

It’s lifespan, though, would be… He wasn’t quite sure.  When he was late for the office, and he took shortcuts through construction sites and farmland…  He’d been caught before, by potholes if not people.  Such had been the fate of many a bicycle just as gorgeous and useful.

He liked this one in particular, though.  Alex hoped it had a slightly longer time to explore with him.

The states were full of cliques that liked to throw around the term ‘family’ when they talked about themselves.  It was, of course, inaccurate for most of them.  They were old war buddies, drinking partners, business associates, sometimes simply friends.  They were a great deal of things, but there was always a distance that kept Jane from being able to see them as a family.

Maybe it was just bias, but there was no such thing as distance in the midwest.  They were a unit unto themselves, past over for the glitz along the borders where so much history kept biases in the foreground.  They were young, weathered in drought and dust storms, and they’d come out knowing that they had a livelihood and life to protect no matter how simple it was.  They could love each other for it, which was odd among groups who had become to jaded to feel anything of the sort.

All that was romantic and so very coastal, but the Midwest had beer on its side to keep them grounded.  The coasts drowned themselves in wine and burbon, and the midwest gathered around a tavern and drank until not a one of them could stop the words that poured from their mouths or the places their fists landed.

And they’d wake up, piled in someone’s basement.  Cuddled up together because that was the safest place for them.

Jane couldn’t imagine every giving it up.

Mystery Novel, Savage

*****

((Headcanon: Texas loves mystery novels because Jim Thompson.  Don’t judge me))

*****

He only allowed himself the light of one reading lamp, when it came to mysteries.  He wanted the murky feeling to surround him and seep into his bones.  He wanted to feel the knife go in and sweat under the lights of the interrogation room.

Lloyd ran his fingers, lovingly, over the worn spines upon his bookshelf.  He pulled out his well-read copy of Savage Night and curled up in the arm chair.

For the night, he was no longer in Texas.  He was in the grimy underbelly of New York, surrounded by unreliability and murder.

It felt incredible that way.

important friends: Joel, Marie, Jean-Pierre. If I had a Florida OC, I’d say Florida too.

general opinions: Cheer up, buddy, life ain’t so bad. He needs to show his true self more often and not hide behind his indifference all the damn time.

character: Oliver Stanley hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

ship with: Jean Tremblay (surprise, surprise)

important friends: Victoria, Jean-Pierre, Alex, Cats in general (haha). (I don’t know the others enough to be able to mention them… Sorry!)

general opinions: I really like the fact that he’s multifaceted and that he has hidden talents. Also needs to brighten up some.

character: Jean-Pierre Tremblay hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

important friends: Xavier Leduc, Samuel (UDC/FA New Bruns), Oliver, his dog.

general opinions: This child will be my ultimate ruin. Needs to express himself more, as well. Speak, child.

character: Vincent Lambert hate them | don’t really care | like them | LOVE them | THEY ARE MY PRECIOUS

headcanon thing. Patriots onesie. giant floor piano.

Patriots Onesie: Alex’s brothers, but John especially, were quick to dress Jonas up in their team’s gear at any opportunity. Oliver, oblivious to NFL teams, was an unwitting accomplice for a while.

Giant Floor Piano: Jonas/Papa days in New York always include a trip to FAO FAO Schwarz. They routinely choreograph songs for ‘concerts’.

sillylittleteaparty asked:

If you haven't already gotten it, QuOn!

I haven’t haha.
Shall I do both teams? I shall do both teams…

• when or if I started shipping it.
Team A: From 2010-2011. Around the same time as Team B, but just because they were another form of QuOn. But I really got into them last summer, when I started with the whole cross-over project and started chatting with you fine folk in the leftover IAMP group haha.

Team B: May 2nd 2010. P. said they would work. I was reticent. We talked it over. Then I figured okay. Wrote a chapter as a gag-gift. The rest is history.

• my thoughts:
• What makes me happy about them:
Team A: They have great potential and their dynamics are fun to play around with. Plus there’s a lot of history to them, relationship and living together wise. Oliver is lots of fun to play with.

Team B: I am the captain of this ship. (Jokes aside, they grew on me and they’re great material to work with. So many possibilities and so much character development possibilities!)

• What makes me sad about them:
Team A: Their shitty past and their forever issues about their shitty past and the fact that they can’t seem to get beyond that, despite their best efforts.

Team B: When they decide not to cooperate.

• things done in art/fic that annoys me:
Team A+B: When people make Quebec to be some sort of perpetual bad guy who doesn’t have a heart and who abuses others. Sure he has his flaws, but he’s not a villain.

• things I look for in art/fic:
Team A+B: Good research, if based on anything historical. “Accuracy” as in, it’s all well and good to have your own headcanons and whatnot, but if all of a sudden Quebec is perfectly fluent in German, or Ontario in Russian, I need a reason as to why. (Even just “he decided to take Russian classes because his best friend is Russian” works.)

• Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:
Team A: ??? ???? ???? I don’t know. I really don’t. They’re OTP version 2, so in my head they are meant to be haha. Somehow.

Team B: Pfft. No one else. Ever. OTP of OTP. I won’t even consider it. Unless it’s a gag or an AU. Or a sob drama fic.

• My happily ever after for them:
Team A: THEY GET OVER THEIR ISSUES AND FIND THEIR HAPPINESS.

Team B: They ride off into the sunset together.

• what is their favorite non-sexual activity?
Team A: Sight seeing together??? Finding nondescript places in their towns/cities and showing the other.

Team B: Making new memories together.

There was a decorum to how things were done; not as impulsively as punks on the streets but not anywhere near as meticulously as movies liked to idealize they were.  It was a quick meeting over dinner about irredeemable things that they would take care of in confession later that week, and then they broke up to do their jobs that they wouldn’t speak of again.

The coded speak to get past the wiretaps were always awkward, knowing that they could love each other as brothers but never turn their backs, but they’d long since grown used to it.

QC/ON

Jean was sure that Oliver had gone on and on about the morals of vegetarianism simply because he didn’t want to get his hands covered in the goo of frog.  The teacher wanted no hassles or lawsuits, so the she stuck the scalpel in front of Jean and told Oliver to handle notes.

Jean grumbled darkly as he sliced in and began to work, with the occasional glare to Oliver’s victorious smirk.

NB/NS

The lower decks always smelled like coal and men, which was to be expected considering they weren’t far from the engine room.  It hummed, constantly, and you could feel it down to your core even when the people or music was far too loud to actually hear it.

They treated it as a lullaby as they laced themselves together and dreamed of the new life that engine would take them to.

Twinsies - car ride or bar dance party. Henry and Oli - doing something idk what

1.

It didn’t take more than a few weeks past a show’s premiere on Broadway for them to have lyrics memorized, and shortly after that for CD’s to be purchased and there to be accompanying choreography. There would be a road trip planned the next weekend, coincidentally long enough to run through the entire show once or twice. Their ensuing performances had to be perfect, after all, even if in a perfect world they would only be seen by themselves and whoever else was waiting for the light to change.

But this wasn’t a perfect world, and so it wouldn’t take more than two drinks for them to have their premiere in a local bar.

2.

When there came an innovation one of his factories, Henry’s first call of barely-restrained excitement was to Oliver. His neighbor would race straight across the Ambassador Bridge, impatient as Henry was to head into the factory and tour about.

The staff knew them well, and with polite exhaustion lead them around as they asked rapid questions and did their best not to touch anything. It would be an incredible day, made all the more fantastic with Oliver’s concealed by obvious jealousy that he hadn’t had anything to share.

Early as the next morning the engineers in Ontario would be tasked with creating something even more incredible, and Henry couldn’t wait to race across the bridge to see it.

4. Do they have any verbal tics? Do they have trouble pronouncing certain words or getting their thoughts across clearly?
Anything in English is a struggle. Hs go where they’re not supposed to and they’re dropped where they’re supposed to be. Lot’s of “comme” and “genre”, when explaining things in French. Also, “tsé” and any abbreviated word in French (aka Québécois speak). He can get his thoughts across clearly - especially if he’s upset. His thoughts are at their clearest when he’s upset. No filter no nothing haha.

7. How does your character perceive themselves? Positive? Negative? Neutral?

Negative - Neutral. Aesthetically, he knows/thinks he looks good and has nice features. Personality wise, he probably wouldn’t befriend himself if he had the chance. He sees his negative traits, before his good ones and he knows he’s done a lot of low stuff in life.

9. Does your character dream or are their nights filled with an empty blackness? Describe a dream they’ve had or a night they couldn’t sleep and what they did to preoccupy their time.

He does dream. If something is bothering him, he might dream of it. No real recurring dream, or nightmare. General stuff. If he can’t sleep, because he’s over thinking everything and can’t get his brain to turn off, he’ll do a lot of the tossing and turning and fluffing of pillows. Lot’s of glaring at Vincent, who is snoring away. Ultimately, he’d get up and crash on the sofa, and end up falling asleep there.

20. If your character was allowed to murder one person without any consequences, who would that person be and why?

Why did I know this question was going to come up? Hahahaha.
I’d say the person he’d want to murder is dead already, (Maurice Duplessis) I always saw JP as not liking the dude and what he sorta ended up doing to Qc. As much as it can be argued that he did good stuff, he also held back the province for many, many, many, many years. Many years. He never really forgave MD for it. Other than him, currently, there isn’t really one specific figure I can think of. At least, not to the point of murdering. Probably some “bad guy” doing harm to innocents elsewhere on the global scale, but other than that - I can’t think of anyone! Sorry!

23. Do they prefer romance or affection? What is the quickest way to your character’s heart?

It’s one and the same for him. But in a good way. As in the more romance and affection, the better. He gives out hugs as though they’re going out of style. He gives hugs to his friends and loved ones and isn’t afraid of doing so. He likes to show affection to those he cares for. As for romance, he’s all for turning on the romance with his significant other, pretty much all the time. If he cares - he cares. He’s not afraid of being romantic around Vincent. As for quickest way to his heart; see him as a human being and not as Quebec and voilà. Or bring him a beer and tell him the Habs are definitively getting their 25th and that Céline is the reincarnation of God. or, y’know, be nice to him, really.

24. Does your character have any enemies? If so, who and why?

The Federals. I’m sorry, that was a very bad joke. In all seriousness, icy roads. All jokes aside, I highly doubt he has any enemies. At least, no enemies the way I see it. Sure there are people he doesn’t get along with, but no one that he would label enemy. Toronto Maple Leafs. Okay, basta with the jokes.

28. Are they afraid of death? Do they have any regrets?

No. He isn’t. He would welcome it, actually. To have a normal human life would be the greatest thing for him. However, as for regrets, yes. He has many. Some are as “simple” as not admitting to liking Vincent earlier. Others are as “complicated” as his perception of having broken all his promises to his people, to what happened to his province, to what he allowed to happen to his province and so forth.

I hope I was clear and managed to answer the questions…. haaa….

NY: Nightmares, loyalty, epiphany, love, natural, promise, revenge, waiting

Nightmares: He tends to be hit harder than a lot of others when companies misbehave, and he never sleeps comfortably when there’s evidence of an internal investigation.

Loyalty: Alex is bad about sticking with teams that are losing. While he has favorites, he’s backed up every sport so that he usually has someone to turn to if things aren’t going well. This isn’t lost on anybody around him.

Epiphany: When he was first becoming a representative, he was assumed to be possessed. Had he shifted later, he would have been diagnosed as schizophrenic.

Love: He has a small, personal baseball museum in his lake house. Everything’s kept polished and as pristine as possible, but he’s reluctant to let anyone else see it.

Natural: His agricultural side is still going strong, despite perceptions of him as being irrevocably city. It’s too much of a time investment for him personally to work it, anymore, so he has a wealth of assistants to monitor the farms.

Promise: There’s nightly opera on a joint network for Ontario and New York. He has a regular Skype appointment to watch it.

Revenge: Alex is petty, and he’ll hold grudges over things most people would just brush off. He has a very hard time holding himself back if he feels he’s been slighted.

Waiting: Alex has a reputation of being very impatient, especially when it comes to food service.
