Silent Lucidity

There’s a place I like to hide

A doorway that I run through in the night

Relax child, you were there

But only didn’t realize and you were scared

It’s a place where you will learn

To face your fears, retrace the years

And ride the whims of your mind

Commanding in another world

Suddenly you hear and see

This magic new dimension

Heart

I was watching Heart and I had never thought about the fact that Madison was wearing Sam’s shirt when he killed her.  Then Silent Lucidity came on my iPod and this came out of my head. - sammit-janet

Sam holds Madison’s body close to him, sobbing and trying to stop the bleeding; even though he knew it had to be done, even though he’s the one who pulled the trigger.  Her blood soaks his shirt; God, why did she have to be wearing his shirt?

Dean walks in the room, wiping his eyes.  “Sammy?  Someone had to hear that shot.”  Sam doesn’t respond and he walks over and gently places his hand on Sam’s shoulder.  “We better go, the police will be here soon,” he says quietly.

Sam just keeps pressing his hand to the hole in her chest that his silver bullet made.  This, this is why he didn’t want to love again.  Everything he loves is always taken from him.  Mom, Jess, Dad.  He must be cursed, he has to be cursed.  Why else would this keep happening to him?

“Sam,” Dean squeezes his shoulder.

“Yeah, I know,” Sam chokes out.  He lays Madison on the floor, sliding her eyes closed with his hand.  He kisses her on the forehead and stands, knees threatening to collapse under him.

“Hey, all right, I gotcha,” Dean pulls Sam’s arm around his shoulders.  He leads Sam out of Madison’s apartment and doesn’t allow him to look back.

Once they get to the car, Dean opens the passenger door and helps Sam inside.  Sam buries his face in his hands, sobs wracking his body.  Dean closes the door and walks around the back of the car.  He opens the trunk, pulling his gun out of his coat.  There are a few specks of blood on the pearl handle.  He wipes them off and puts the gun in the trunk.  He knows that gun is the last thing Sam needs to see right now.  He closes the lid, resting his hands on top of it.  His head hangs down as he takes a few moments to gather himself. What Sam just did, that took a lot of strength.  Will he have that same strength if he has to kill Sam?
