shut up megg

I need feminism because most men’s restrooms still aren’t equipped with baby changing stations. As someone who was married to a man who had sole custody of his young son, I’m hyperaware that feminism means EQUALITY, not female superiority. Feminism should and does support a man’s right to be as much of a parent to his child(ren) as any mother is allowed/expected to be.

I saw something a while ago where people were saying that dying one’s hair nontraditional colours made them “attention whores,” and that’s bugging me tonight. Maybe it’s because I’m planning my next dye job, but whatever… the reason doesn’t matter.

I don’t dye my hair for attention. If people notice and compliment it, that’s great, and I appreciate that they like what I’ve chosen to do. But, even if no one ever noticed, never commented or complimented, never even *saw* it… I’d still dye my hair. I dye my hair for me. I like it. I’m not seeking approval. I’m just augmenting what I see in the mirror every morning.

I hate that everyone is so hell bent on the belief that everything a person does is for the benefit of someone else. Why must it all be a cry for help or a desperate grab for attention? Why can’t I just like the way my hair looks when it’s teal and purple (or whatever colours I do next)?

Sorry for the rant, but I was annoyed. I feel better now. Thanks for listening or reading or… whatever. <3
