showing v telling

okay so I just feel the need to say why Brooklyn nine nine is the best show so strap yourselves in it’s gon be long

 * first off, hella diverse cast

 * and no “token” characters there just for the sake of diversity, each character has very different personalities from each other and represent the actual population

 * despite totally different personalities they are all really good friends and care about each other so much- each character’s relationship is different and I find that beautiful

 * wE HAVE A BLACK GAY MAN IN THE HIGHEST POSITION OF POWER IN THE PRECINCT?? that’s so cool

 * amy santiago is never played off as “just Jake’s love interest/girlfriend” she has all her own plots and stories and is amazing and strong and the best

* healthy communication in amy and jakes relationship !!! making sure it doesn’t stop them from doing their job to the best of both their abilities !!!

* Terry is a very macho “man’s” man but isn’t afraid to show his feelings and it’s real nice to see them show how being emotional doesn’t make you a weak man

* the solidarity between the girls because we gotta stick together

* “I met god” “what does she look like?” “Ethnically ambiguous"

* constantly calling out the world for all it’s shit (homophobia, racism, gun laws, corruptness of the police, sexism, I cOULD GO ON)

* and now the reason I decided to make this now: THEY JUST MADE A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT HOW BULLSHIT RACIAL PROFILING IS

* a show about cops still managed to find a way to talk about it bc they know it’s an important issue and did it in such an incredible way

* showed two sides of dealing with the situation, holts plan and terrys, and neither were ideal, both would have backlash for Terry more than the dickhead who stopped him tbh

* and showing Jake doing hella suspicious shit and not getting stopped

* oNCE AGAIN CALLING OUT THE WORLD FOR ITS SHIT

* (but this time with a whole ep not just mentions bless)

* also Jake and amy having to explain it all to Terry’s kids was v upsetting to see how scared they were at first that this would happen just because they were born as they were

* AND mentions of transphobia and telling the twins it’s okay if they don’t identify as female, what other show would

this ain’t even everything it was just getting v long BASICALLY no show is as woke as brooklyn nine nine, it’s hella funny too with great plots and ships too if that’s what you look for and everyone should watch and @ fox if you don’t renew I will fight it is better than all other shows

The Preath Head Tap™️️ 2013 vs 2016

Where do you draw the line? When is someone not worth the effort anymore? Do you just look at them one day and realize they’re hurting you more than you can deal with, that they’ve caused you more pain than you’re willing to take?

I really don’t think enough people realize that to be a Christian and also an artist doesn’t mean that you have to label yourself a “Christian artist”. If you write books you don’t have to write solely, Christian labeled books. If ur a painter you don’t just have to paint Jesus on the cross or the tomb He was laid in.

Your art is already inspired by the great creator. Yes, it should have Christian values behind it but it doesn’t have to be put in that category. It doesn’t even need to have crazy themes behind it like C. S. Lewis’ writing does. You can write stories of redemption and adventure without making the main character into a Christian. You can paint inspired pictures of loss and suffering. You can act in a play that isn’t about God.

God is in every aspect of your life already and you can create so many things in His name. But you don’t have to restrict yourself to only making art that’s explicitly “Christian”. Every single piece of art you make can be made with God in mind and can be made for His glory. Be expressive, talk about your struggles, write about the high points and show people your failures.

Create in His name. He takes unimaginable pride in what His artists create. Because He is the great creator, and He is in everything we do.

Create your own art, no matter what form or genre. And, of course, never be afraid to tell people what inspires you. Essentially, just don’t let yourself be put into a bubble that constricts you from your full creative freedom.

Worship through everything that you create and God will take pride in what you do.

why are people giving a cup hair? why are they drawing a cup with blonde hair? he’s a cup. he is an object head. he has a rubber hose body and a cup with some sort of liquid inside it as a head. why are people drawing him with hair? why are people shipping him with an inky devil? i don’t…. i don’t understand

what is this fresh hell

I know it’s rather pointless as the discussion can’t continue anymore but I did want to address one point. This was said as a counter to my point that “YGO when not written by this writer doesn’t have nearly as much problem with this annoying hero-worship“

It’s the exact same thing as how people saw Atem and for whatever reason, you’re fine with it happening to Atem and Yusei but not Yusaku, even though it’s the exact same mother fucking thing. It was worst with Atem, but being that DM is your favorite because childhood, you’ll let it slide. Completely illogical.

I never watched YGO as a kid. DM is my favorite, but that’s not because of nostalgia as it would be impossible for me to have nostalgia for a show I hadn’t seen before. I also haven’t seen 5Ds yet so I can’t speak to whether this problem does occur with Yusei or not, although I do believe the same writer of Vrains was the writer for the last half of 5Ds, so unless we’re talking specifically about the first half then hero-worship in 5Ds is not really a refutation of my point.

As for “it was worst with Atem”, not really? I feel like we may have different ideas of what the problem is. The problem is not with a character being heroic or being a central focus or important or winning a lot or having a need to save everyone, etc. The issue is with the masturbatory ‘look at how cool and awesome and edgy my character is, LOVE HIM’ attitude that the writers bludgeon us with by having characters put him on a pedestal and give him undue and excessive praise and admiration.

We don’t get that with Atem. If anything, Kazuki Takahashi has emphasized that Atem is weak. This shows in the narrative as well. Atem is fallible because of his flaws, we’re supposed to see him as weak for his pride and arrogance, and particularly his fear of losing. The fandom may get a bit hero-worshipy about him but that is NOT the canon. And sure, his friends cheer for him, but he cheers for them right back - he’s not positioned above them, he’s touted as their friend and equal, not as their hero and savior. Yes he saves them at times, yes, he does have a strong sense of duty to take on the burdens of a hero - but people don’t fall all over themselves to call him one. The closest we get to worship is maybe from Ishizu - but it doesn’t come off as forced because, well…she was raised in a community that held those ideas to an unhealthy degree - to which we SAW the horrific nature of in what was done to Malik.

And that’s not even getting into all the messed up stuff that Atem did in the pre-Duelist manga. We don’t need to be told how to feel about what he did, we can tell it’s screwed up. And the closest we got here to hero-worship is Anzu’s attitude towards him - but she gets herself into trouble over it, it’s NOT portrayed as a good thing or something that we should agree with. It’s silly and childish, and it’s not beaten over our heads.

I’m not saying DM is perfect because it isn’t, and I’m perfectly willing to criticize it. But it doesn’t tell us how we should feel about the characters, it puts them in their roles and lets us decide how we feel about them and their actions. The way the characters relate to each other and view each other feels natural and not forced, not like it’s telling us how we should see them. It shows us. That’s the difference. Vrains is telling us how we should feel rather than trusting the audience.

does it ever hit you how real and relatable can soy luna be for so many people bc im all emo thinking about it

Tauriel’s Sermon on the River Bank (10/34)

akashic-memories  asked:

i have v route questions, if thats ok! can you give me just like a brief synopsis of what happened? and you said you got the normal ending, right?

Of course! I’ll try to explain as best as I can~

SPOILERS:

The route starts off with V infiltrating Magenta. All of the stories take place 6 months after Rika “dies”. The MC (you) is told that all the characters in the RFA are actually just AI’s that Saeran (Ray) has created. V quickly figures out that you’re the girl being “held hostage” by Magenta and tries to save you in a day’s time. Saeran tries to welcome you to magenta by giving you an elixir, but V smashes it out of your hands before Rika/the guards have him dragged away and tortured. The next few days, you stay with Rika, and she tries to convince you to stay. Rika uses her sweet talking and tells you all about how she likes you, and stuff like that. Seven comes out and saves you and V, and brings you to his hide out with Vanderwood. Vanderwood is there, trying to help out.

V recovers from the Elixir Saeran forced him to drink, and you and V fall in love as he recovers. Saeran is hacking the Messenger as fast as he can to try and get you back, while Rika tracks everyone down. Rika catches V alone and stabs him, getting away as you/Seven/Vanderwood find him in the woods. You get to the hospital and meet Jumin there, as V gets immediate surgery. Rika manages to get on the messenger and talks to everyone, and to her horror, finds out that no one sides with her anymore. After telling Saeran to blow up Magenta, Rima also finds out Saeran stayed inside while it ignited, killing himself. In her grief and the realization she has nowhere to go, Rika heads to her apartment once more to set off the bomb, killing herself as well. The ending shows you and V in the city two years later, and it shows V telling you that he loves you - you had been a couple the whole time.

Gahhh, it’s such a bittersweet story. I hope I did well enough!

Also can I just take a moment to say how much the boys have improved on their dancing not only in the comeback show but I noticed it in the DNA mv too. The choreography is super intense and they execute it so well. Particularly jin and namjoon, their dancing has improved so much since debut

sometimes I’m insecure abt my oc, but today I’ve never been more proud of myself and my character (:
