show them who you are

So I was telling my parents the new Justice League trailer dropped, which lead to me explaining what that was to my mom (she has only a passing knowledge of superheros, and none of their respective teams) So I mention it’s got Aquaman, and;

Mom, giggling; Seriously, Aquaman?

Dad, with sarcasm; Oh goody, Aquaman.

Me: Let me show you who they cast to play Aquaman.

show them a pic of Jason Momoa

Mom: Well hello Aquaman!

Dad: Well, I guess he’ll be able to throw his trident really fucking hard, that’s something

I’m a feminist because...

I’m a feminist because everyone should be.

Growing up, my parents would always tell me to be properly dressed around my brothers. Never mind that they were walking around in short boxer briefs, it was me who had to be presentable. I was the girl, after all.

In school, I was always taught that the way I dressed affected a boy’s education. I was taught that the slight peek of my shoulder was enough to get me sent to the head office. It was much too distracting, because after all, a boy’s education had to be more important than a girl’s. At least, that was what they were teaching me.

This is why I’m a feminist.

I’m a feminist because it is 2017, and when I talk about how unfair it is that a professional athlete gets to walk away from the accusation of raping a girl without a single ding to their career, I’m some sort of radical that needs to calm down. Because that poor girl’s life will never be the same, but said athlete’s career is perfectly intact.

I’m a feminist because my aunt says things like, “Oh, those feminists, they just need to shave their armpits and get over it.” Because somehow the grooming of my body hair has everything to do with the rights I’m fighting for.

I’m a feminist because people still think you must have a vagina to be considered a woman.

I’m a feminist because I am 20 years old, and when I tell people I’m not sure I want to have kids, they look at me like I just defied all womankind.

I’m a feminist because when mothers choose to work rather than stay at home with their children, they aren’t doing “enough.”

I’m a feminist because when fathers choose to stay at home with their children rather than work, they somehow aren’t as “manly.”

I’m a feminist because parents still won’t let their sons play with Barbies.

I’m a feminist because young boys are taught that crying is bad. Showing emotion is bad, better to bottle it up and never feel. If you cry, you’re a girl, and no one wants to be a girl.

I’m a feminist because when my family talks about the Women’s March that happened yesterday, they say things like, “What’s protesting going to change?” and “They’re honestly just wasting their time. Nobody’s going to listen to them.” Never mind that the country we are living in found its freedom through protesting—No Taxation Without Representation. But I suppose that’s okay. It was men protesting then.

I’m a feminist because when my aunt saw a picture of a man marching with women yesterday, she snorted and said, “What’s he doing there? Doesn’t he have something better to do?” Her seven year old son was sitting next to her.

I’m a feminist because a highly qualified politician lost the presidential election to a less than mediocre businessman who based his campaign on misogyny, racism, bigotry, and slander. Because this country would rather see an over privileged, racist, homophobic, white man, whose years of experience sums up to zero, in office rather than a woman whose qualifications are more than his will ever be. Because I somehow have to have years of experience before I can even get my first job, but Donald Trump can get sworn into office without a single day of political experience.

I’m a feminist because the President of the United States speaks vilely of women and all minorities, and I’m the terrible one for disliking him.

I’m a feminist because I get made fun of for being a feminist.

I’m a feminist because I want the next generation of girls to live in a better world than mine.

I’m a feminist for these reasons and so many others.

I’m a feminist because everyone should be.

NEW VIDEO: “Juicy Gossip & Dirty Laundry with Carrie Underwood- to celebrate her new single, “Dirty Laundry” - we’re revealing our secrets to each other!! Did you know a pop star once saved her life?? And you’ll never guess where she met her husband!! Reblog if you loved it, I’m following people who do!!

I’m like 100% positive that when Jack visited Georgia for the 4th of July both Mama Bittle and MooMaw fell in love with him, and not because of the charming accent or his slammin’ hockey bod but because of his ability to just inhale food.

Like after Jack finishes his first generous helpings of potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, and burger complete with all of the fixings, Mama Bittle and MooMaw plop themselves across from Jack in the shade. They both fuss over him, telling him that there’s plenty of food for seconds and thirds and to help himself.

So Jack stands up with his festive red, white, and blue paper plate and disappears for a few minutes before returning with an extra plate in his hand. Both women look over his plates with a wide smile; one plate was piled high with all of the different sides, and the other plate was holding three burgers and two hot dogs.

The two women chatted eagerly as they fanned themselves and sipped at their sweet tea, watching Jack with lovestruck eyes as he tucked into his plate quietly.

When dessert time comes around everyone serves themselves but Mama Bittle fixed up a plate especially for Jack with extra helpings of everything, which he absolutely demolishes in minutes.

After Bitty finished helping clean up dinner stuff he found Jack rocking on the front porch swing, his head tilted backwards, and his eyes closed.

“Mama get to you?” He asked with a small smile, sitting down next to him.

All he got in response was a soft, “Mhm”.

Opened up Critical Role-based art prompts on twitter and got “Gilmore gets a pet” and “Gilmore has a baby dragon” so I combined the two! I wasn’t sure which colour I preferred so here are both!

This makes me even more upset.  I’ve already posted some of my musings for VIXX here. I’ve talked about how much I appreciated them. What kind of group decides to go all out in one year - in order to make 3 comebacks for us? What kind of group decides to make a song dedicated to fans and a MV that included no barriers between themselves and their Starlights?

The photos have already been removed by the user, the user has already apologised on twitter - or so I’ve heard. But why do you guys keep flaming him about it? Leo has his own life y’know. I’ve been having a bad feeling these days and as I logged on instagram and tumblr - I saw Leo’s instagram post and the issue being posted on Tumblr, itself.

I am THOROUGHLY disappointed to say the least - I am LIVID. If you’re one of those people who have said something harmful to Leo, even if YOU’VE SUPPORTED THESE ACTS. Please get the hell out of this fandom. You should know that Leo is a human being, he has feelings and emotions. ALL OF THEM DO. VIXX has been getting so much hate, hate that they do not deserve at all. 100%. They’re tired, they strained themselves because of us - some of them even resulted in fainting.

If you want to come up to me and fight me with this argument, then fking bring it on. You should be grateful that they’re such a hardworking and humble group - you should at least show your support to the things that they do no matter what.

To everyone who has shown support to VIXX and Leo despite all of these toxic ‘fans’, you have done a good job and please continue to show them love. Stream Milky Way, stream The Closer. Do anything you can in order to OVERPOWER the hate.

Starlights, we must stick together. I really hope Leo doesn’t stop smiling, I really hope everything can be cleared. I really hope VIXX will be okay. I feel like crying right now.

HOLD ME MY FELLOW BRIGHT LIGHTS.

If someone ever asks you who Monsta X are, just show them this vine. It’s a short summary of them.

What do they all have in common?

Yep.

shoutout to the survivors who are not forgiving, who do not believe that what happened to them was ‘for a reason’, who know they did not deserve it, who are angry at what happened to them, and who do not show the typical 'good victim’ trope. You all get so much shit from people about how you should act from your trauma because only 'good victims’ are deserving of empathy and support. You deserve so much more than that.

  • What she says: i'm fine
  • What she means: do you know how hard it must've been for Killian Jones to stop drinking and gambling in his pre-navy days? to claw out of the hole he was in? a man with so little self-worth would've literally drank himself to death and squandered every penny he had. a man with such supposed weakness in the face of darkness would've backslid right into drinking even after joining the navy, just as alcoholism affects jobs. a man with as much self-loathing as he had would've self-destructed and embraced every demon. but he didn't. he got his fucking act together during his time as Lt. Jones because his brother was his world and his light and his inspiration and his love and the source of hope for him. and then, that light DIED––due to machinations by the system that fucked them over in the first place. it wasn't just understandable for bright and starry-eyed Lt. Jones to fall so far after his brother's death. it was inevitable.
