Agave schidigera “Shiro Ito no Ohi” is in the family Agavaceae. The cultivar name is Japanese and translates to “Queen of White Thread Leaf” referring to the curly white filaments on the margins of the leaves. It is native to many parts of Mexico including Chihuahua and Durango. This species has been in cultivation for many years, and is used in xeric landscapes with other succulents in full sun. After a number of years of vegetative growth, this plant will produce an inflorescence with purple flower buds that can reach a height of 10 feet. Follow for more plant facts and photos!
