I hope you're not appropriating Indian culture just for your aesthetic!!

i hope you’re not just running from inbox to inbox to accuse people for absolutely no reason and with no understanding of what cultural appropriation is.

the post where my sim theo is spending time with her indian grandmother is not cultural appropriation. the post is called “heritage” because it’s about a girl who wants to acknowledge and understand the culture of her family. the bindi is so much more than a pretty accessory to theo, and it’s not why i added it to the post either. heritage is very important to her, even more so than it was for luca and shiloh, and it’s something i want to express in my posts with her.

UPDATE: For any of you that didn’t know yet, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s child Shiloh has just fully come out as transgender. His name is John and he has wonderful accepting parents and family. This is what Leelah Alcorn gave her life for, and although we lost one beautiful girl, we’ve gained a beautiful little boy.

Suck on that intolerance.

UPDATE PART 2: OK so I wasn’t entirely right about him being fully out, but what I did read was that he goes by John and generally uses male pronouns. I wrote this post in a flurry of trans related excitement so I’m sorry for any miscommunication.

Still one up on intolerance though, and Brangelina are great parents.

Funeral services for Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Maryland

Family and friends gathered Monday for the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old black man whose death in custody triggered a fresh wave of protests over US police tactics.

Thousands of people arrived at the New Shiloh Baptist church to pay final respects to Gray, who died on April 19 of severe spinal injuries, a week after his arrest in Baltimore. (AFP)

“I think she (Shiloh) is fascinating, the choices she is making. And I would never be the kind of parent to force somebody to be something they are not. I think that is just bad parenting… Children should be allowed to express themselves in whatever way they wish without anybody judging them because it is an important part of their growth. Society always has something to learn when it comes to the way we judge each other, label each other. We have far to go.” (x)

Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style,” she said. “It’s how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits. She likes to dress like a boy.She wants to be a boy. So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys’ everything. She thinks she’s one of the brothers.” (x)

“Shiloh is very aware that I hold refugee families in high regard and has been asking to come on missions and meet them for many years,” Jolie Pitt tells PEOPLE. “She had heard about Hala since my last visit to Lebanon, and has been wanting to meet her and her brothers and sisters.”  (x)
