Oh man oh man, you guys. I am OVERJOYED to talk about this! <3
Jaal’s first “oh, damn” moment came during the initial excursions on Havarl. He, Vetra, and Gemma had been slogging through some dense plant growth for hours when he spotted a shortcut from his childhood. It involved a lot of climbing, and Vetra gave him a (gentle) hard time about it, but what Jaal remembers is Gemma staring up the incline, a little frown on her still-strange face. When he asked her what she was doing, she said “I’m trying to figure out if I can do it in four boosts, or three”. Then she grinned at him, and said “I bet three,” and took off. He watched her jet to the first outcropping of rock, catch it, and leverage herself up, and then keep going.
She made it in three, and laughed when she reached the top.
He lost his handhold just before he reached her, the rock crumbling under his hand, but Gemma was already there, so fast he never even knew she had moved, and she had her hand locked around his wrist before he could yell for help. And to this day, he remembers the jolt that went through him at the contact, and how her grip did not falter – and how bright her eyes were as she pulled him up. Oh, he thought. This feels familiar.
No, he added, only to himself, when Gemma – this alien woman – grinned up at him, this feels good.
Gemma’s moment came later; it was seeing him on Aya, after they rescued the Moshae. She found him on a balcony, looking out over a forest so green it hurt her eyes. For the first time since she woke up, she had a moment to pause, and breathe, and not worry about getting attacked, and she was happy to just bask in the sunlight and the rustle of wind through the leaves with a friend.
She would have been content to stay quiet – Jaal didn’t owe her conversation after all her prodding back on the Tempest and in the Nomad – but he started pointing out the farms where he had worked as a teenager, his favorite place to watch the sunset, the races he and his siblings used to run near that river to the west – and she felt every knot in her spine coming undone.
He spoke with so much love for everything around him, and Gemma was so tired and lonely and hating being either of those things that she started crying. She’d always been one for a good stress-relief cry, but this was exhaustion, and longing for home, and grief, and the pressure of knowing everything depended on her.
She tried to keep quiet about it – not really good diplomacy to start bawling in public, especially if you were the damn Pathfinder – but when Jaal noticed, he just put his arm around her shoulders and told her no one would shame her for this, of all things.
Gemma tried to make a joke – cover my back for a few minutes till I stop looking like a boiled tomato, okay? – but he was looking at her so sincerely, so gently, that she just nodded and maybe – maybe – leaned into him a little. Jaal was alien, half his people wanted to kill her, and she didn’t really blame them – but he was warm, and solid, and he didn’t let go till her tears were done.
How would Mercy, Hanzo, and poly Reaper76 deal with an incredibly sick s/o who's stubbornly refusing help and saying they're fine, even though they're getting worse
Mercy huffs in frustrations with her hands on her hips. She can’t even count how many times she’s scolded you about taking care of yourself and yet here you were making her worry! Luckily for you she’s going to help you even if you don’t want to go to a hospital. She knows the symptoms and she has the medicine you need- why do you still refuse her? She’s getting angry now as you keep refusing her help- rejecting her. When you meet once more for a cup of coffee at her place you find yourself feeling numb and lethargic; your words slurred. You glance down at the coffee mug in your hands before watching the ceramic break into pieces as it hits the ground in your drug-induced stupor. She says something but you can’t quite make it out as she brings a needle close to your arm ultimately before you loose consciousness.
Hanzo wants to believe you when you say you’re fine but he keeps watching you, observing your symptoms, and mentally keeping track of every time you say you feel fine but you’re getting worse. He’s worried someone’s poisoned you at first but he quickly composes himself before jumping to any more irrational conclusions. He’ll beg you to see a doctor, he hates seeing you like this. He won’t deny he likes it when you’re weak and rely solely on him but he doesn’t want you to be in any pain or discomfort. He begs you once more to see a doctor before he will be forced to take drastic measures for your own good.
Reaper’s the first to mention it and you glare at him when he brings it up in front of Soldier: 76. Soldier frowns at this and demands to know how long you’ve been feeling ill and what your symptoms were. With a sigh you do give in but refuse to seek any help. The two of them don’t particularly mind this as they’re not exactly supposed to be on the radar of the living so seeing a doctor would cause more harm than good for everyone involved. When you get worse Soldier sets as many biotic fields as you need to ease the pain. He’s getting angry with himself when you aren’t getting any better. Reaper sees it as more of inconvenience and kidnaps a doctor for help and will kindly thank him for his services when he’s done with a bullet to the head.
Today, I can’t remember how, I ended up discussing Gypsies/Romani people with 2 of my roommates. Now, in Romania we have a pretty big Gypsy/Romani community, so our schools and universities have separate spots for those with this ethnicity, because they are a minority in our country.
Okay, now back to the discussion I had with these two creatures who call themselves “human”, both very religious I might add, thing that may fool you into believing they would be more acceptant of those around them. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.
One of them, let’s call her A, began to say that she doesn’t think it’s fair that Romani people are accepted into universities even though they got a smaller grade than all of the people who got a spot at the university. I tried to explain her that Romani people have separate spots on the list, which DO NOT interfere with the other ones. She still said that she thinks it’s not fair, so I explained further that Romani people have their own culture, traditions, clothes, launguage et cetera, in a word, they are a community AND a minority within our country and they should be treated as such. Also, I believe it is fair that they get separate spots because for so many years they have been discriminated against, they were called thieves, killers, savages and so on. PLUS, many Romani families can’t afford sending their kids to school due to the discrimination in employment, so offering them the occasion to have an education is something any civilized country should do. Not all Romani people are all those things they are called, just like not all Romanian people are innocent and correct in everything they do.
The other girl, let’s call her B, said the most idiotic thing I have ever heard coming out of her mouth, looking-at-the-camera-like-i’m-in-the-office kind of idiotic. I think her exact words were: “Yes, but Romanians steal in a more civilized way”
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK???!!! Are you… are you actually serious? How is that reassuring in any way? So you are admitting that people steal, no matter their ethnicity, BUT YOU BELIEVE IT IS BETTER IF PEOPLE STEAL IN A ‘MORE CIVILIZED WAY’??? HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?
Then, A decided she hadn’t been racist enough, so she said that, if Romani people want to be equal, then they shouldn’t have special spots, and if they don’t like it, they should make their own school system. Not only that it is stupid to even think that because Romani people are a community, not a country so they cannot make their own schools in their own language BECAUSE THEY ARE ROMANIAN CITIZENS, but it is also fucking racist because you are treating them like outcasts.
I explained it to them ONE MORE FUCKING TIME, trying to put emphasis on Separate Spots™ and how they do not steal anyone’s place at the universities, but of course that this concept is far too hard to understand, especially when you have been raised by a family who told you, as a little kid, that the Romani people will steal you if you don’t listen to your parents, or that you should avoid them on the street because they will come to steal your bag/earrings/necklaces and maybe even kill you for that.
In conclusion, I have to live with these creatures for 3½ more months. Kill me now.
how do you know she's still close with Evan? Has she said anything about it?
Other than this post on her old Instagram account and
this quote from her Evening Standard interview, she hasn’t publicly talked about the relationship- platonic or romantic- between the two of them since. She has remained friendly with other exes in the past, though.
What would happen if the Horsemen + Azrael + Samael turned into humans for a week because of some strange spell? By the way, I wish you lots of luck with your blog <3
Thank you so much! 💙💙
-She’s amazed by her new body. Her eyes look so human now and she feels more light
-She does everything to learn about human habits from you. The healthy amount of hours of sleep, which amount of every group of food she must eat and routines of exercise
-When the spell ends, she still doing all that stuff with you when she has time
-“WHAT THE HELL? HOW?!”
“Strife, calm down…”
“I CAN’T CALM DOWN!!! DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT’S HAPPENING?!”
-You’d have a hard time at first, he insist doing all that dangerous things he’s used to
-When he FINALLY calms down, he needs a lot of patience because he’s still learning how to take care of his new body, but he’s a fast apprentice
-Once the spell ends, he jokes with the situation often, even years after
-He stays still when he notice what’s happening with his body, like he is afraid of fall in pieces in any moment
-His prosthetic arm is now too heavy to carry, so you help him to hide his arm under a coat
-He pass the next week in your house, he is a little altered, so you take care of him and show him that is not that bad being human
-When the week ends and you start traveling again, he carry you on his shoulder or is always shielding you of any nasty gaze, he is more conscious of your fragility and wants to protect you even more than before
-Suddenly, he feels the pain of his muscles, he is not used to take care of his body but when he becomes human he’s way more sensitive and realizes how much tired he really is
-He’d catch a cold immediately, his defences are really low so he gets really bad, headaches, muscle pain, fever, etc. Now he really looks like a zombie and he feels so bad that actually receives your attentions without complaining at all
-After that, he realizes how bad can you really feel sometimes, so he has a lot more of respect and is more considered with you
-Unconsciously, tries to fly on time to time and gets really ashamed for that.
-He’s really impressed by how witty humans are in order to cover your limitations and keep yourself safe being so fragile
-Uses this whole week for study the supervivence of humans and their social habits
-When the spell ends, he discovers that he has a new subject of study, and also, admires how strong your race is, dealing with all their weaknesses
-He refuses to get out of his chambers
-After awhile, you manage to convince him to let you in at least. He looks amusing trying to keep his robes from falling of his hips.
-“IF YOU LAUGH I SWEAR…”
Better you listen to him.
-He is in a HORRIBLE mood, he feels vulnerable, weak and small without his demon complexion. He grunts a lot more and refuses to hear anything that you have to say
-When he finally realizes that he’s actually hurting you with that attitude, he calms down and gets willing to learn from you
-When the spell ends, he is SO happy for it, but he’ll never admit that he actually liked how you hugged him with more ease during your sleep
Everyone of them
A LOT OF COMPLAINING ABOUT THEIR NEW SIZE
“We all wondered what did she look like when she woke up in the morning, did she have a bad hair day like the rest of us, because we always saw her looking beautiful. I thought of her just larger than life and people still do today. She was young and she never aged. Somehow she put steel in our backbones, that we can’t go to pieces because she didn’t.”
(-Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughter, Lynda Bird Johnson Robb)
Everyone writing about feyre being pregnant in acowar and… sjm has clearly stated that she doesn’t want this-therefore I really don’t think that she’d do this as feyre is still becoming her own person.
However I understand the theories of aelin being pregnant as it’s said she wanted/thought it was a good idea
I just thought you should know I just spent the last hour or two doing nothing but reading your St Claire story. You are an amazing story teller. I do have a question/wcif. Rebecca's hair in the first post she appears is gorgeous? Do you know if it's still available?
Heyyy new favourite person! Thank you so much for using your time to read my story - it means so much to me! Thank you!
I really hope you are talking about this hair because the other one isn’t available!
You know what's even shittier about this? Sjm knows these criticisms of her, especially now that her own author friends have spoken about it. She still doesn't try to improve. How do you defend someone like that. The ideal should be that she wrote some bad things, but she ackowledged and apologizef and got better. But she's ignoring it. How do you defend someone who refuses to improve? Yuck.
They think not wanting to write about people who aren’t straight cis and white is an opinion. Forcing diversity is not a thing, people are diverse without a reason. Pretending diversity doesn’t exist or needs a reason to exist is… not good. Let’s just say that
