she's such a great teammate and i love it

I very occasionallt forget just how attractive Lotor is. Then I see screenshots

oK YES, I LOVE LOTOR and he does look very pretty

if Merla isn’t interested anymore I am

The fact that he always sits the same way with his head resting on his hand like that though, he always looks like he’s either plotting something or really bored lmao. he needs a nap

and his moody faces are great

and when he pilots you can tell he just really loves it!! he can fly circles around his enemies and he just lives for the thrill of it

and I love the little banter between him and his teammates?? poor Zethrid

Also, I’m pretty sure any other galra general would reprimand Ezor for “not taking her duties seriously enough” or something. Like, she calls the lions “kitties” and then instead of getting annoyed or correcting her he just follows up on her comment like it’s the most normal thing. He knows how she is and isn’t bothered by it. He seems pretty informal with his team, and I’m inclined to believe he really does see them as being like friends to some degree. Also he lets Narti hang out with his mom’s 10,000 year old cat that’s pretty neat

anyway I love the exiled space prince and his team

Lance saying allura is the heart of voltron honestly made me ??? not because it’s not true because he literally explained that she is and she proved it ! I was just confused because for a Long time the writers and crew always said lance was the heart of voltron so i was just ?? did they change their minds ?? but now thinking more on it. i think him and allura are Both the heart of voltron. Lance sees how great and wonderful his teammates are. but because of his insecurities he doesn’t see that in himself. I think lance doesn’t realize how much he really does keep the team together. always motivating them and cheering them on. He might not believe it but he is a heart of voltron

I found this old article about Lauren Townsend that sounded super similar to Rachel’s story:

“She reached out to so many people,” said Dawn. “Lauren loved all kinds and all shapes. She loved all animals, too. Many holidays we postponed family traditions till later in the day, until Lauren returned home from taking care of the animals at the local animal hospital. She was a great role model for her teammates and other kids. She made you feel like you were the only person in the room when she talked to you.

Dawn noted that Lauren was early to practice and was eager to help the freshman and sophomore teams by running drills or tutoring individual players without ever being asked. More than one teammate and friend had commented to Darn on this special quality of Lauren’s. Freshmen players would express amazement that a senior always went out of their way to talk to them.

Dawn reported that one of Lauren’s favorite T-shirts was imprinted with the George Raveling quote, “If it is to be, it is up to me.” “She wore that t-shirt a lot. That was what she believed,” said Dawn. “She didn’t wait for a handout, she always went for it and she didn’t leave things undone.”

Dawn called Lauren “a pure and simple soul” with no big agenda other than being kind and respectful of people and animals - someone who wanted to affect her little corner of the world. “Lauren was an old soul in a young person’s body,” says her mother. Like the parents of Cassie Bernall and Rachel Scott, who were also slain that day, Dawn and husband Bruce have found notes Lauren wrote before death which indicate that her daughter, too, may have been aare on some level about events to come.

“Lauren had written that to her ‘a day without laughter is a wasted day’ and ‘my job it to put  a smile on someone’s face.’ Lauren also had noted that she felt ‘something big had to happen’ in her lifetime to change the state of affairs in this world, especially when affecting kids,” says Dawn.

Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier - Sparky

You are the newest member of the Avengers. You joined after an accident in the lab you worked at in S.H.I.E.L.D gave you the ability to use lightning. When you join the team you meet Bucky Barnes, who is instantly attracted to everything about you, from your beauty to your wonderful personality. Over time, his affections for you grow and yours for him grow too, but neither of you tell each other how you really feel, both of you thinking that it’s best if you just stay friends. One day, the two of you get paired up on a mission, a pretty simple mission, but these things have a way of not going the way you want them to and neither of you expect this one to go the way it does.

Thorns x Roses : Story of Moriya Akane (守屋茜)

Sometime the first impression is the right one. Is it what you call love at first sight? In Moriya Akane’s case, i absolutely didn’t noticed her when Nogi’s sister group hold their first press conference. Not someone who stun you with their beauty like Shirashi Mai, or would give this cuteness vibe like Nakai Rika from NGT48. But Moriya Akane, Akanen, has unveiled herself as one of the fiercest, most well rounded character in Keyakizaka46. Her lean figure bloomed like a rose and her hate of losing is sharp, like thorns. She is the blade of Keyakizaka.

”Even if it’s life most severe, most painful thing, there will be no regrets. If i say Ok, let’s do this one more time, i will certainly do it” - Moriya Akane

There has been many hints of Akanen trait. First, in Keyakitte, Kakenai video introduction, she proudly shows off her tennis awards and certificates. In her “jibun history” (my story), she shows her old video winning a judo battle against a girl bigger her size. This girl likes to win. But was it always like that? Well not really, in a recent BUBKA interview, she said at first she wasn’t particulary mad at losing, but she changed when entering Keyakizaka.

Akanen was 17 when passing Keyakizaka audition, and as every japanese highschooler, she had to make a choice after graduation. It was a tough decision between going to the audition or going to college. While her family and friends were concerned of her choice, she didn’t wavered and took Keyakizaka audition. Since there was so much at stake, she was determined to give it her all as a member, thus explaining her “hate to lose” character. She also started to be self-aware of her apparence and professionnal attitude, learning make up or how to appeal to fan (she already knew her catchphrase). At the very debut of Silent majority, people noticed her change. “you give me a strong feeling” they said. Exactly, for akanen, it wasn’t college activities. To her, Keyakizaka is “work”.

“Akanen is the kind of girl you would think twice before approaching”

But as the fanbase grew larger, different opinions emerged. “You are kind of scary” “You are S, are you?(sadistic)” “You’re a tryhard fisher”. Akanen realized that being sharp was a double edged sword, that would put some fans off because she would look unproachable. Not only she has the beauty that makes wota think “she’s too pretty, i have 0 chance” and the attitude “if i talk to her she will feel i’m weak and i will be rejected”. As a matter of fact, she is not the easy-going type. Once again, there was a choice to make at the debut of “Sekai ni wa Ai shikanai” promotion. Either she would tone down, and hang over the cute field as a try, or she would pursue her “serious” character and definitively be recognized from it. Things have been decided during the “karai queen (spicy)” challenge when she ate a whole bowl of spicy tofu, to the point of crying right after. She doesn’t like spicy food, but she doesn’t like losing even more. For the first time, Akanen stole the show through determination.

It was a significative impact. Imaizumi Yui was known as the best singer, Sugai Yuuka had this lady personality, Neru was the most intelligent and Yurina was the Wondergirl. Despite the minor drawback, Akanen stayed true to herself and showed her ferocious competitive character. It was the best choice because no one in Keyakizaka had claimed the “strong type”. Her individuality was set in stone, and it was just the beginning. There was no guarantee it would work, but Akanen took it anyway. Because it fits her the most.

”When the time comes to do it, i’ll do it. And when i do it, i win.” - Akanen

What became an hot topic was the famous sports festival episode, when Akanen was the captain of the “serious team” against Yuuka’s team. Akanen not only displayed her natural sense of competition but was also credited as viable leader, pumping up her team spirit and lifting their morale. In a young group as Keyakizaka, a leader/sempai is often mandatory for the group cohesion. Throwing some taunts at the other team to make things funny, shaking her teammates up when they were questioning their ability to win, Joking with the MC to loosen up the tight atmosphere; once again Akanen shone in her natural environnement : competition. But what probably was the turning point was the last sprint against the second fastest member, Koyabashi Yui, where she managed to bite few meters on her but eventually lost by half a feet.

Not only you could feel from the screen she put everything on this sprint, raising the excitement to the max, but you also witnessed Akanen bursting into tears from losing to Yuipon. What could be seen as a bad loser attitude ( being fair play, you would shake hands with the winner) but in the case of Moriya, it was more of a genuine reaction for deceiving her teammates at the last second. Even though it was obvious she got paired up with the weakest members ( Yuuka’s team had Neru AND Koyabashi), even though she was like 6 meters behind, she blamed it all on herself. On her own incapacity to bring victory.

Fans felt sympathy toward Akanen and praised her strong will. The cold, hard to approach Akanen vanished to make way to Akanen, the girl who do everything with passion. Her being fired up is actually fuel for others to do their best, and her presence in Keyakizaka took another meaning.

“If it’s for my beloved teammates, i will do everything” - Moriya Akane

She can be seen as harsch sometimes, but the one she’s the most severe with, is actually herself. Her strong will to win can be interpreted as a strong will to not disappoint those who believed in her. A strong character, is also someone people rely on. She want to be that kind of person to Keyakizaka46. During Sekai ni wa Ai shikanai, she didn’t remorse her position in second row, she accepted it. “In that place, i have a goal, a reason to move forward. “This is also a place i can learn a lot from” She said. An humility, unfamiliar with people who are self-centered. Akanen is not the kind of person who think of things as granted. She wants to earn things, with her own strength.

It paid off. In Futari Saison, she finally became front row, increasing even further her visibility and popularity during keyaki single promotion. Sugai Yuuka, who will be promoted to captain, congratulated her for her senbatsu position and wrote that Akanen is an existence that put her at ease when confronting tense moment like live performance. “Big sister” Akanen was also a significant trait that made her being loved by teammates in backstage. At the time, the girls didn’t known each other very well, especially Hirate Yurina who was the youngest. Akanen felt it was her responsability to make things easier and decided to break the ice by inviting Yurina to a meal together. Little by little everyone got along and the training room atmosphere got lively, thanks a bit to Akanen. Moriya Akane is working hard as an individual, but isn’t neglecting teammates bond, which is essential for Keyakizaka unity. Akanen truly loves the group.

“When Akanen is around, i allow myself to act like a spoiled child” - Techi

Akanen is a lethal weapon, with great use of visual, sexiness and flawless smile. But she uses her ability to protect those she loves, being a reassuring older sister when members finish rehearsal and are exhausted, being a leader when the girls are doubting. A versatile jack of all trades that allow Keyakizaka to hold it’s ground on a solid base. When you realize Moriya excel in visual but truly show her amazingness with her personality, you can’t help but be admirative. “Ah, Keyaki is in good hands with her” some fans on the internet said.

If she’s such a good leader, why isn’t she captain, you would say? Well another quality in Moriya, her “hating to lose” character doesn’t mean she crave for the spotlight as well. She has this self-awareness that holds her from having bad decision that would disturb Keyakizaka balance. Sugai Yuuka, who she’s very close to, has a refined style that may suits more as a representative. Moriya natural strictness balance well with Yuuka’s natural sweetness. Together, they make the ultimate captaincy. Moriya is definitively a girl to look forward, either it’s about her, or her interaction within the group. As we speak, she’s Tier 2 (she’s solding out round 2 of handshake event, she’s still not fans top priority) but Akanen’s potential shows no boundaries.

“If Akanen is S, does that mean her fanbase are all M? LOL” - Oda Nana

anonymous asked:

Is there a possibility that Levi will be the one who helps on Mikasa's character development? I mean, she has changed but its' not enough... Another thing I wanted to ask is: What should we expect of her now that she is 19 years-old? And how do you think she has changed? Mikasa deserves better ♥

He already has. But, rather than character development, SNK follows the story of the war so we’re not shown much of the characters unless integral to the plot. (That’s why the mangaka freely kills off characters who have no use for the story.)

I have no idea in canon because we have nothing to work with. But, I would assume she’s taken a position of leadership/authority now. I think the whole of EMA has. Other than Eren who we think is surveying Marley. No doubt, though, that we’re expecting a more developed Mikasa by way of her perception of the war, of her role in it. That she sees herself separate now from Eren and as an individual with her own goals and aspirations.

Personally, I think a great development of character for Mikasa is in owning a leadership role like Levi. I want to see her leading her own squad and developing relationships with those other than the main cast. Given her skill, I’d love to see her training recruits. (I’d really love a panel showing Mikasa and her beauty walking down the dining hall and everyone’s like - in awe.)

On the flipside, if she is part of the squad surveying Marley, I can only hope she’s a more able teammate, more present-minded, and more trusting of Eren and her team.

My problem with depending on Levi for Mikasa’s character development is that it still is - dependence. I want to see Mikasa separated from the original crew to see how she acts on her own. I want to see her leading a squad so I know this loner can form more meaningful relationships and function in society as an individual. We know Eren and Armin are very likely to leave Mikasa in a while. We can’t have losing vigor for life just because she loses these two.

Thanks for the question!

The Last Naruto the movie - Things BOTH NaruSaku and NaruHina fans should know!!

I picked up the last movie promotional leaflet yesterday and have gathered some info from there and want to share my take on this. I am only going to refer to certain parts of the leaflet not because I’m masking information but because the other stuff most people already know such as the villain is related to Kaguya etc.

If you wanna see the full scans of the promotional leaflet they are uploaded in my post here (I like to keep opinion things and info separate) ⇒ JUMP to scans

Ok here goes.

  1. Hinata’s feelings are STILL unrequited 2 years after the 4th Ninja War.
  2. The movie marketers are making full use of Mizuki Nana’s popularity.

1. Hinata’s feelings are STILL unrequited 2 years after the 4th Ninja War.

Those that are dreaming that Hinata is pregnant or that they are already going out and you’ll get to see NaruHina’s lovey dovey date scenes are going to be sorely disappointed. At the very most we’ll get a REASON for how in the world Naruto went from not really noticing Hinata and not addressing her feelings for him at all to falling in love with her. Because honestly I’m waiting for that explanation as well.

The info stated in the leaflet are

The feelings which have still not reached him. What will happen to this love?

The winter festival is approaching Konoha. Naruto is having fun with his friends at the Ramen place Ichiraku. Amongst them the feelings Hinata has hidden inside the scarf she knitted have not reached him even now.

Hinata hates herself for only ever able to do little more than just watch over Naruto.

And then it goes on to say the villain comes and attacks her suddenly. Naruto was able to save her in time but then the man disappears and says he will be back to get Hinata eventually.

2.The movie marketers are making full use of Mizuki Nana’s popularity.

Hinata gets a insert character song for the movie

From here on out things get opinionated so those uncomfortable with that can just take the 2 pieces of info I presented above and take your leave.

I really cannot emphasize enough how impressed I am that High&Low, a show that was by and large a promotional vehicle for a talent agency and their groups, put so much thought and effort into creating Kizzy, a three-dimensional trans character who is treated with respect and gets to be badass, is loved and respected in universe, isn’t treated as a joke and has overall better writing and is better treated than about 90% of trans characters in everything else I’ve seen.

Like I could go on and on about how this show really went above and beyond in all of its aspects, from clear and poignant writing to a diverse cast of characters with their own identities and stories, to the amazing production value, but as a trans person it’s really amazing to me that they also decided to include a trans character and give her respect and importance. When they virtually had no reason to, they could have sold their show with or without her. But Kizzy is there and she gets to be a founding member of a group who protects women, her leader respects her, her teammates respect her, she has a partner who loves her. Not only that but the show gives us clear clues to understand that she’s trans without making a big dramatic deal out of it because that’s not all there is to her. The franchise also confirms that she’s trans in side material like the manga or promotional booklets. She is here. She exists. She’s important. And that… That’s all great.

And yes I am aware she is portrayed by a cis male actor, which is never ideal, I’m willing to let it slide this once because as far as I know, Japan doesn’t have that great of a track record with LGBT characters especially trans characters in dramas/films? So it feels really good that they’re taking steps to get better, even if it’s just one at a time.

Kizzy is a great character. I’m very happy right now.

Don’t Forget Your Ring.

In the midst of my rushing, there was one important thing I forgot to grab. Not my cell phone, not my wallet or I.D., not that small tube of lip gloss I carried everywhere I went, not my phone charger if my boss decided to send me a barrage of emails regarding our latest client.

Nope. It was my wedding ring.

And to most, that wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. It was better than misplacing or forgetting your phone behind but for me, Mrs. Lionel Andres Messi Cuccittini, it was a big deal because this wasn’t the first time this had happened. It was more like the second time this week. The third if you counted the time Leo found my ring on the bathroom sink and just silently slipped it on my finger.

I think he was growing tired of reminding me of the etoile five-row band ring with the intricate diamonds set in platinum. He was tired of reminding me that the ring he had spent a hefty sum of money on always seemed to find its way onto a counter, a stand or inside the brilliant blue box it came in instead of on my finger.

I wasn’t used to this. I wasn’t used to this at all. Being married was an entirely different lifestyle and one I don’t think I was quite ready for because stuffing my hand down into my junky purse seemed ten times harder when there was a rock the size of a planet wrapped around my finger.

Leo had tried to keep it simple. The engagement ring that decorated my finger was simple enough, only having one stone covering the band but the official ring was in an entirely different ballpark. I tried to get used to wearing it but the many stares that accompanied my wearing it and the soft, delighted murmurs of the women who walked past me and seemed to catch the diamonds sparkling just as the light hit them made me a bit self-conscious. I didn’t want the attention nor the many pictures that were now floating the internet of me and my hand cowering into secrecy.

Now at dinner, I could feel my husband’s silent stares when he glanced down at my bare, unpolished fingernails. Under his gaze, I moved my hands to my lap instead and away from the table.

Dinner with Cesc and Daniella was going well. They were updating us on their life and the pregnancy with every other topic we could think of mixed in between. Cesc broke the temporary silence that fell over us as we began getting into our meal.

“Where’s your ring?” He nodded towards my hand, his eyes downcast to where my hands lay in my lap.

Leo took a sip from the glass in front of him before responding before I could do the honors. “She doesn’t wear it.”

“What?” Cesc questioned, a genuinely confused expression on his face.

Daniella fell into the conversation as well. “Is it the wrong size?”

“Nope. Perfect size. She just doesn’t like wearing it. Right?” My husband peered to me sitting next to him. I felt guilty for it all. I knew he enjoyed seeing that ring on my finger even if he had yet to fully come out and say such directly.

“I do like wearing it. It’s just…”

Leo’s eyes focused in on his former teammate and friend before he offered him a scenario-type question. “Cesc, if you gave Daniella a really nice wedding ring, one you would think she loved and she didn’t wear it, would you be upset?”

“For sure.”

“Well I’m sure I would have a good reason for not wearing it if I didn’t.” It was obvious Daniella was trying to defend me as her eyes gazed on me with empathy. What a great friend she was but it wasn’t enough to get Leo completely back on my side and it seemed he was dragging them into it as well.

Cesc turned to look at Daniella with his face screwed. “What would be a good reason not to wear your wedding ring?”

“Okay let’s not bring them into this. I’m not wearing my wedding ring because I forgot it, okay? I’m not used to wearing it and it’s a bit uncomfortable walking around with this flashy thing on my finger all the time.”

“So you don’t like it?” Leo’s voice was calm and the couple across from us awkwardly sat back in their seats and remained quiet.

“I like it. I just…it’s huge.”

Daniella jumped in then. “It is really big. That thing is gorgeous.” She shook her head and took a sip of the drink in front of her.

“Leo, you’re raising expectations too high,” Cesc grumbled in a joking manner.

“Well not that high because my wife won’t even wear it.”

“I’m sorry, okay? I can’t help it.”

“I’m sure she has a good reason.” Cesc was jumping in now to defend me but I didn’t think I needed much defending. Leo wasn’t even upset from the tone he used or the way he looked but I could tell he was at least a bit bothered or disappointed.

“I forget to wear it. I don’t like the attention that comes with it,” I reiterated.

“So you want a smaller ring?” Daniella proposed.

“No ring at all?” Cesc spoke this time.

“No! I just…no. I won’t forget it anymore. I’ll wear it and everything will be fine.” I gave a weak smile as if that would solve all problems but I knew that wasn’t the solution Leo was looking for. I didn’t want him to feel bad for giving me a ring he thought I would love but one instead I felt insecure wearing. It was a gorgeous ring. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen but the attention that came with it? I couldn’t handle it.

“You could always just give the ring to me,” Cesc winked in Leo’s direction which caused him to chuckle.

“Yeah. I’d love to give you a ring, Fabregas.”

“I know. Daniella gets a bit jealous though so keep the love low.”

Amidst their banter I slid my hand into Leo’s lap and without even looking or missing a beat in the conversation, he gave my hand a gentle squeeze between his firm grip before raising my hand up to his lips and placing a delicate kiss to it. He dropped our hands back into his lap but didn’t release his hold.

Looking at the man I loved who sat beside me I felt even more guilty for not showing off my love for him. I knew Leo didn’t think me wearing a ring represented just how much I loved him but it represented something. It represented our union and having a bare hand…well, that didn’t really say the same thing.

let’s talk about weiss schnee

Okay so first off Weiss has been such a lovable character for a long, long time for me. Why?

character development

In volume I, Weiss is bitchy, I’ll admit it. However, taking into consideration that her father is manipulative and there’s very heavily hinted abuse, she’s doing what she was taught. She was taught to be racist, fiercely competitive, and showy, as well as the notion that she’s above others. She was literally used for publicity constantly (her singing as well as being allowed to attend academy) and there’s a well-supported theory (or is it canon? I’m not sure) that comes from the manga that the giant armor that Weiss fights is a test to allow her to attend academy. Let me point out that Weiss must have her aura unlocked at this point, since she uses her semblance. Aura protects you, right? Weiss gets punched, and she starts bleeding from approximately where her scar is, meaning that by that point she was depleted, in terms of aura. Weiss was so desperate to attend academy that she risked death, and her father let it happen.

Volume II, Weiss is doing much better. She’s bonding with her teammates, learning that there’s much more to life than simply being the best, and that people will love her even if she isn’t always the best. She’s developing, and becoming a great team fighter too, supporting others with her semblance! She starts to gain independence against her father and shows that Winter’s been a major part of her life.

Volume III, Weiss is fabulous. Of course, she still has major flaws, but you can tell she really loves her team and doesn’t want to go home. She summons to protect a faunus, shows concern for her team, and fights against Cinder & Co. When her father comes to take her back, she’s obviously unhappy.

look, even Blake, who fought against everything the Schnee name stood for for almost her whole life considers Weiss a friend and team member now.

obviously cares so much about ruby?

yes they’ll fight together? they’re a team

In volume IV, Weiss shows that she’s willing to stand up for what she’s learned at academy. She speaks up to her father, gets frustrated with obviously ignorant comments, and runs away. During this period of time, she chooses to keep on fighting, to continue developing her skills. She gains control of her summoning, and we get a glimpse of how lonely her childhood was.

idk man she sure doesn’t look happy to me

yes Weiss wants to truly fight and get better? yES she does

in regards to her fighting

Weiss’ style is based off of fencing, however, in her new trailer, I noticed something odd. She’s excessively showy, like her father was using her fighting for publicity again. Winter is summoning for her, which makes me inclined to believe that Winter was a strong influence on her training and learning how to be more efficient.

this isn’t efficient at all? Weiss bb what are you doing

look at how long she takes to turn around! improved Weiss would just stab once and turn around right away. It’s pretty, but even at the beginning of academy, she’s much faster and less showy.

In the beginning episodes, we learn that Weiss uses a lot of dust. She uses it really well, though, and that becomes more and more evident as the series progresses. Weiss seems to grow less reliant on dust as she attends the academy, and I love to watch her skill grow. Her dust is used more in combination, rather than in large bursts.

Weiss grows to be a really good team support, casting glyphs for her teammates, providing dust she doesn’t need, and trusting others. she’s pretty powerful when fighting her best, I’d say she can definitely do as much damage as all of R_BY.

other reasons why i love weiss

She’s just a good example of the fact that people can drastically change their views for the better and improve themselves.

Also? I love her weapon, her style, her snark, almost everything about her. Weiss Schnee deserves love.

Weiss Schnee is wonderful and angry and I love her.

I’m gonna talk about that one softball mabel au because not only is it good and pure, but it also brings back many fond memories:

-she would totally, without a single doubt, do that thing where she gets her name spray-painted onto her batting helmet in many colors with flowers and rainbows around it

-she loves leading the cheers in the dugout. Don’t tell me she wouldn’t

-she’s a very ambitious base runner. The coach tells her to hold back, but if she’s feeling it, you bet she’s gonna sprint to the next base. She rarely gets tagged out when she does it, and the coach starts to trust her more than they trust themself.

-she plays second base ok

-Mabel loves the little signals the coach does to tell her what to do when she’s up at bat (ex. touch to the hat = bunt) because she finally sees it as a code that only she knows but Dipper doesn’t. She holds it over his head any chance she gets.

-you know those practices where the team takes a field trip to the batting cages? Yeah she loves those

-she is so supportive. She’s so great at rallying the team up for big games (even small ones). If a teammate’s not feeling their best she’ll give them a little pep talk in the dugout and send em off with a hug and a pat on the back

-she’s a quick little bugger

-i remember when I was younger one of my coaches would name the “player of the game” after each game. Mabel would stand in front of her team and name off what great things each and every one of her teammates did that game. She wants everyone to feel happy with their performance.

-she is smol but fierce

-she’s that batter that the opposing team fears whenever they’re on defense

-SHE LOVES TO SLIDE. Even if she doesn’t need to, she slides onto that base dammit

-her family is the most obnoxious family in the stands. They scream and yell and cheer her on constantly. Also during games they buy her candy from the nearby snackbars and push it to her through the holes in the dugout’s chain link fence

-when they’re in the dugout eating sunflower seeds Mabel and her teammates playfully spit sunflower seed shells at eachother. It’s gross but let them have their fun

I just really want to talk about trans kent parson. I just love the idea so much.

I’m sorry this took so long for me to reply to, I wanted to make sure I had my entire brain together before I replied!  But in short:

Yes, yes, yes, and YES!

I can totally see Kent being the first trans NHL player.  I can see his take-no-shit attitude coming into play, and him working so hard to prove that he is just as great as (if not 40x better than) any other player, and that he’s ready to put just as much time in.  Kent would have obstacles of course, but he’s Kent Parson, he’d get it.  B)

HOWEVER, I was talking with the #epikinkster folks and transwoman Kent came up, and I kind of am even more in love with this idea!  (Idk if you meant ftm or mtf kent ^^;)

Kent struggling with it while in the NHL, because that’s where she wants to be, but she knows if she comes out or goes on hrt it’s going to make everything much more complicated :((( But!!! Kent finding support when she tells her teammates, and her teammates making an effort to refer to her by her preferred pronouns and I can just imagine the Aces doing research via youtube tutorials to get her great makeup, or heels, or nail polish and stuff, not because she’s trans, but because they know she enjoys painting her nails and doing her makeup from time to time.  <3 Eventually she decides that it’s time, and she talks to Aces management and PR, and there are no rules against women playing in the NHL, so as long as she keeps performing, her contract wouldn’t be called into question.  Kent keeping her head held high and becoming an inspiration for trans kids everywhere <3 <3

Trans!Kent is wonderful <3

P.S. Important Contributions by Lotteia:

Kent has a collection of snapbacks with pro-trans phrases on them, loves sparkles, and ends up with a makeup sponsorship: "i’m the first nhl player to get their own makeup line" “you’re also a the first trans player in the nhl?” “okay but the eyeshadow is really sparkly and i’m just super proud of it” <3

Trans Kent with glitter and loving Aces family and little kids and adults who can look up to the first trans NHL player <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Take a good look at my back!!

Sakura Week, Beginnings!

One of my most FAVORITE scenes from the manga. She was always very brave, but this time she struggled and she fought and she tried SO HARD to protect her teammates! I love her (whisper)

It’s the most breathtaking place imaginable. The golden Cornucopia sits in the middle of a green meadow with patches of gorgeous flowers. The sky is azure blue with puffy white clouds. Bright songbirds flutter overhead. By the way some of the tributes are sniffing, it must smell fantastic. An aerial shot shows that the meadow stretches for miles. Far in the distance, in one direction, there seems to be a woods, in the other, a snowcapped mountain.

The beauty disorients many of the players, because when the gong sounds, most of them seem like they’re trying to wake from a dream. Not Haymitch, though. He’s at the Cornucopia, armed with weapons and a backpack of choice supplies. He heads for the woods before most of the others have stepped off the plate.

Catching Fire, Ch. 14

Haymitch’s Arena was this beautifully, perfect, seemingly peaceful place. It included these gorgeous, picturesque, quintessential surroundings and even a wonderful smell. It was a facade for its real purpose of death, violence and injustice. In many ways, it reminds me of the Capitol. The Capitol on the outside is beautiful and perfect, but underneath is corrupt and evil.

It’s interesting to me that Haymitch was the only one out of the Tributes to be ready, to not be distracted by that around him, and for him to have this understanding of the task at hand. I think SC placed this story here to give us some insight into Haymitch’s character, give us some back story, but to also give us a sort of inkling as to Haymitch’s part in the whole Rebellion.

Even in his Games, he had moments of anarchy, but he suffered the cost of everything he valued. He spent twenty-three years numbing himself to what he had done, the price of being a Victor and being a Mentor to the Tributes he was helping send into the arena himself.

Then, come Katniss and Peeta, both rebellious and willing to sacrifice. I wonder at what point Haymitch saw something different and new in them.  I wonder when he became a part of the Rebellion. There were obviously plans and strategies before the Quarter Quell that Katniss and Peeta had zero clue about. Haymitch had the intention of breaking them out. I love this little glimpse of who Haymitch Abernathy is.

Then we get this great gem from Katniss after watching the tapes:

I’ve spent all these weeks getting to know who my competitors are, without even thinking about who my teammates are. Now a new kind of confidence is lighting up inside of me, because I think I finally know who Haymitch is. And I’m beginning to know who I am. And surely, two people who have caused the Capitol so much trouble can think of a way to get Peeta home alive.

I love that she says that she’s beginning to know who she is. Without having to pretend for Snow, for the Peacekeepers, for Panem, for Gale, for her family, for Peeta, she’s completely free to be who she is. She’s going into the Arena to die, no longer constrained by having to keep everyone alive. Nothing else matters, except to keep Peeta alive, not herself. It’s an insanely powerful moment for Katniss Everdeen.

I really hate it when Western "feminist" writers downplay, dismiss, and insult Sailor Moon

I ranted plenty about this earlier today, but I still have some unfinished business.

I think my main issue with this type of posts/articles/whatever is the constant bashing of Usagi. Oh, Usagi cries too much. Oh, she’s such a bad role model, what with the way she fails in school, dreams about being a bride, and is such a stereotypical teenage girl. Oh, Usagi isn’t nearly empowering enough, look at the way she doesn’t want to fight!

Guess what?

Usagi is a fourteen-year-old girl.

At the beginning of the series, Usagi is your average, run of the mill fourteen-year-old. She’s lived a very sheltered life, with a warm, loving family and close friends. Unlike, say, Ami or Rei, who pretty much had to grow up early because they had to take care of themselves, Usagi was given the chance to grow up at her own pace and take the time to enjoy her childhood/adolescence (an opportunity which, ideally, should be afforded to all children). So, when Luna appeared and Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon for the first time before being thrown into battle, she was understandably pretty unprepared for the responsibility she was thrust into.

And, before I go on, I have to say that I think Usagi handled becoming Sailor Moon extremely well. When she heard Naru in danger, she didn’t even hesitate to rush to her aid. Usagi even tells Luna that, although she has no idea what’s going on, she does know that her best friend is in danger and she’s willing to do anything to save her.

That’s right, Usagi's very first act as Sailor Moon is to put aside her fear and confusion and go help her friend. If that doesn’t perfectly encapsulate Usagi Tsukino’s entire character, I don’t know what does.

And yeah, Usagi is understandably scared and freaked out during her first battles. She cries, she says she wants to go home, that she doesn’t want to fight anymore. Once again, Usagi is fourteen. She’s barely a teenager and yet she’s being dragged into battle against hellish monsters that have the ability to murder her without a second thought. What the fuck do you expect her to do? Crack witty one-liners as she picks them off like some action movie hero? Usagi’s reaction to being thrust into the role of Sailor Moon is very realistic. When I was 14, there’s absolutely no way that I would have been able to take on the responsibility of being a Sailor Senshi without some bumps along the way. Hell, I wouldn’t be able to do that even now, at 19.

But Usagi adjusts. And when her teammates begin to join her, she finally grows into her role as a capable Soldier of Love and Justice. Usagi, like every other human being, needs support. She can’t do everything by herself, she needs people she can trust and depend on. And that is yet another example of the great messages that Sailor Moon sends out: “It’s okay to depend on other people. You shouldn’t try to do everything by yourself, you need to be open and willing to accept help if you need it.”

And Usagi matures. She is the complete opposite of a static character. In fact, Usagi undergoes some of the best character development I’ve ever seen. By the end of the series, she’s two years older (16 instead of 14) and much, much wiser. Being Sailor Moon is no longer a chore. Sailor Moon is her, an integral part of herself that can’t be ignored. She fights, not because she particularly enjoys doing it, but because wants to use her powers for good, to protect the world (and later, the entire galaxy) and those she loves from harm. She’s gone from a scared, confused young girl to a veteran warrior who still possesses the enormous capacity to love and forgive, even extending those feelings to her enemies.

However, not only is their assessment of Usagi just flat-out wrong, it’s actually offensive. These people exaggerate the hell out of Usagi’s negative traits (which, by the way, every well-written character should have) and act like they completely ruin Usagi as a character and as a role model. Yeah, Usagi’s a crybaby, but she’s also the most loving and kindhearted person you’ll ever meet. She’s not that great in school, but is undyingly loyal to her friends and family, willing to sacrifice her very life to keep them safe and sound. She’s lazy and gluttonous, but goes out of her way to be friendly and kind to people and makes them feel wanted and accepted. Usagi may be a klutz, but she’s also pretty much the embodiment of love itself. If you ask me, those traits are nothing to sneeze at.

But, most importantly, Usagi is us. She’s someone we can relate to. When I started watching Sailor Moon at age 13, I immediately connected with Usagi. She told me that it was okay to be very emotional, because that just meant that I had a big heart and a lot of love to give. It was okay to be sensitive, because that meant that I could easily relate to others and understand their feelings. It was okay if my grades weren’t the best, because I was a good person and that’s way more important in the long run than my grades are. Basically, Usagi told me that I was okay being myself because, after all, we were similar and she was doing just fine!

Usagi’s very important to me. She’s important to all of us. That’s why seeing her get bashed and insulted for not being the Perfect Western Feminist Role Model™ really sets me off. And that’s why, whenever that happens, I’ll fight to the death to defend her. You can count on that.

I pick #19 - apple cider!

They drink the cider in front of the fireplace at a cute little bed-and-breakfast in Norwood. It’s only a few minutes away from Samwell, but Chris had insisted that their trip wouldn’t be complete unless they spent a night there. The owner knows him, knew his parents apparently, and agreed to host two college kids for a night for a steep discount.

And it’s a lovely place, as rustic and homey as a picture postcard. So was the farm today, with its old-fashioned hayride and rows and rows of apple trees ripe for the picking. Earlier, they shoveled the bushel of apples they picked up to their room, but they brought out the cider now. The B&B’s owner boiled it on the stove, and it’s warm, the aroma wafting up from Caitlin’s cup, the sensation glowing inside her as it goes down.

She feels warm all over, alight down to her toes. Today’s been – well, real. Growing up in Los Angeles, Caitlin’s heard “It’s been real” a thousand times, but nothing ever was. Not in that land of pink flamingos and surgically altered faces. Los Angeles has its own culture, to be sure, but there’s a layer of artifice to it, a constant consciousness not of what something is but how it looks. Which is fine, in its own way. If that’s what you like.

But coming to Samwell, Caitlin feels as though she’s been thrust into a world that she thought was only painted on movie sets before. Not least because of this boy whose ankles are hooked over hers, who is smiling toothily at her between sips of apple cider. Chris is so different. He doesn’t care how he looks. But he cares so much – so damn much – about everything else. What he does, how people feel, what’s going on around him. He’s more genuine than anyone Caitlin’s ever met.

“Today was really great,” he says, not caring that he’s a broken record. “Wasn’t it great? Could you believe the size of those pumpkins?”

She giggles. He makes her giggle so much, so often. “That one in the middle? You’d need the whole team to carry it!” She imagines her teammates struggling to lift the massive pumpkin, and the image nearly brings tears to her eyes.

“We’d need both our teams to carry it!” Chris agrees. “Man, I hope Bitty likes these apples. I asked him which ones to pick before and I tried to follow his advice, but–”

“He’ll love them,” Caitlin assures him. “But don’t forget to tell me when he makes a pie out of them, because I’ll be really mad at you if I don’t get a piece.” She tries to scowl angrily, but it’s so hard, with all these good feelings swirling up in her.  Nearly a year into their relationship, and she’s still overwhelmed by it all, still heart-flutteringly happy to be seated next to him.

This is real life, she reminds herself every so often. It’‘s not pretending, it’s not acting. He really loves me. And I…

“I really love you,” she murmurs.

“Hm?” Chris is staring into the fire and has missed her words.

She repeats herself, and he flushes, like it’s the first time she’s ever said it. Quickly, he drains his mug of cider, sets the mug aside, then reaches out to take her free hand into both of his. They’re warm from the drink. She sighs.

“I love you too,” he says, routine. “What’s wrong?”

She shakes her head. “Nothing. I’m just… today was fun.” She smiles, but there are tears in her eyes.

Chris scoots over, slings his arm around her waist and squeeezes her close. “I’m so glad,” he says, and kisses her temple. “I really wanted you to have a good time.”

Really. They’ve said that word a lot in the past few minutes. Caitlin wonders if Chris will ever know how much it means to her.

She closes her eyes, concentrates on the feeling of his hip next to hers, the press of his arm around her. His presence solidifies her, makes her secure. She leans in for a kiss, and he huffs out a little laugh before complying. Apple cider is warm on his breath, sweet on the tip of his tongue.

“Wanna take me upstairs?” she murmurs, reaching out to run a hand along the line of his thigh.

Chris grins. “Really?” he says, like he can’t quite believe it.

She kisses his cheek. “Really.”
