she was watching me sleep

Just a reminder I don’t care what canon dictates but there is no way in hell Allura sleeps without a silk cap on.

You can attempt to fight me on this but you will lose everytime

As a black girl myself who’s hair gets straightened to Allura’s ‘regular’ texture and who’s hair is way shorter than Allura’s I can tell you right now no way in hell is that woman sleeping without a silk cap on. Especially with that much hair.

Jack: I can’t believe you won’t let anyone crash at your place.

Merida: You people already know too much about me.

Jack: I know exactly three facts about you, and one of them is that you won’t let any of us crash at your place.

~Dean picks up the pieces after a devastating accident~

Dean x Reader, Sam

2,600 Words

Warnings: Angst. Death. Blood. Implied Sexual Activity. Mostly just Dean Angst.

A/N: This is my entry for @butiaintgonnaloveem Baby’s Big 50 Writing Challenge! My song prompt was Meatloaf’s ‘Paradise By The Dashboard Light’. I went in a totally different direction than I had originally planned, I hope you like it…

For the first two days he did nothing. Bruised and concussed, Dean sat on a stool in the garage staring at the wreckage.

Sam checked on him every few hours. He brought him food at mealtimes and cold beers now and then that sat at his feet untouched. He didn’t bother him; Dean was grieving. Sam had seen it before, but this time it was worse. He didn’t speak, refused to look up when Sam entered the room. Gone was the brave front, the placations that so often peppered the elder Winchester’s vocabulary. He wasn’t fine, so he didn’t say it. Sam kept a watchful eye, but he left Dean alone to do what he had to do.

On the evening of the second day, Dean got up; he legs protested with the sudden movement and his muscles twitched, reminding him with each step of the trauma. He ignored the pain and set to work, silently walking around his Baby, deciding where best to start. His hands passed over the hood, dipping into the fresh dents; his fingers catching on the mangled metal that stuck out at odd angles.

Young!Reader x Uncle!Kol, Young!Reader x Father!Klaus (barely)

“There you are darling,” said Uncle Kol finding you alone in the living room. You turn your head away from your coloring book to face him.

“Hi uncle Kol, “ you frown up at him , smirking he  comes down to your level .

“Why are you sad ?” He asks . You look down to the floor , and pointed toward the outside garden , where everyone was cooing and  fighting over Hope attention . Kol couldn’t but be angry at how easily you were forgotten you were by his brother and sister’s , Like he was when he was your age when he was young .

“Hey why don’t we go to the Cauldron to visit Aunty Davina then later the batting cages ” He says , making  your pop your head up with a shining grin on your face . “Quickly go get dressed,” He watches as you run as fast as you can to your room .

______________________________________________________________

It was late when Kol and You had returned from the Cauldron and the batting cages. Within the five minutes of the car drive home you were deep asleep snoring .The entire house didn’t move an inch as they saw Kol carry you in . But if it was Hope they would of yelled .

“Aaahh their he is the daughter thief. Come to return to the crime , “ Kol huffs at Klaus’s words . “You know it’s not stealing since she wanted to come with me ,” Klaus was about to retort if Kol hadn’t vamp sped  you to bed.

But not before changing you . “So you think my daughter prefers you over me ,” Klaus growls , as he slams Kol into a wall with his hand on the wall.

“It’s not exactly a secret is it that she constantly feels left you. And you all  just push her away like she is nothing  because she is human. Yet you —” Everyone watched as Klaus snaps Kol’s neck leaving him dead on the floor.

No one dared to touch Kol’s body as Klaus storms out of the house.

______________________________________________________________

The entire house jumped out of their seat’s as Hope had woken up the next morning. While Klaus , Elijah , and Rebekah check on Hope. Hayley prepares her food downstairs. Not even thinking of you , leaving Kol to make sure your okay.

When he reached your room he found you on your floor reading. “Good Morning Darling ,” He smirks as you walk up to hug him. “Good Morning Uncle Kol. How are you ?”

“Perfectly fine darling , but how long have you been awake ,” He says as you two walk to your bed. “Oh about an hour ,” He wanted to question more about it , when Elijah called him for some important matters.

By the time he came back to your room you weren’t there. He wen’t down stairs to ask him family only to see their only attention is on Hope not even noticing how you aren’t in the house.

After two searches around the house he decides to look around the  French Quarter , when he couldn’t find you their he went to Cauldron , then soon after all off New Orleans.

Once he returned home he still saw every one was cooing over Hope . “ENOUGH I AM DONE KEEPING QUIET,” screams kol while throwing a vase, making every one look at him as Hope whimpers and curls up to Hayley making everyone angry.

“OH NOW I AM THE BAD GUY, FOR MAKING POOR HOPE WHIMPER. THEN WHAT ABOUT YOU LOT WHO HAVE  HAVE YET TO SEEM TO NOTICE THAT (Y/N) IS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN ,”He yells , as Klaus vamp speeds in front of him , making Hayley and Hope Leave the room.

“YOU DARE SAY I DON’T CARE ABOUT MY DAUGHTER’S HO-”

“OH SO YOU DO KNOW YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE DAUGHTER YET YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE , LIKE HOW YOU IGNORE YOUR LOVE AND CONCERN FOR –” Kol was cut off with klaus flinging him into the dinning room.

“Do not dare you think i do not care for my daughter’s ,when you can’t even have one , And as for (Y/N) she is –”

“Not Here,” said Elijah .

_____________________________________________________________

Tears stained your face as the blood stained knife comes closer to your face. “No! No! Please stop,” you scream as the man walks closer to you . he was about to stab you when his heart and head is ripped off.

You never been so happy to him in your life, than at this moment . Thou you two have always seen each other you , Never would of thought he would be able to make . You limp into your Uncle’s open embrace . As Klaus enters the room with Haley right behind him.

“It’s okay now Love  , it’s all over now “ he says “I am sorry  I couldn’t have gotten here sooner , “ he continues on trying to calm your tears and hiccups to the point where your just sniffling . He picks you up and tries to give you to Hayley , but you scream and cry  , making Kol back away with you in hand , but when he tries Klaus Scream to the point where Kol can here his ears ringing.

He knew it was pointless on trying to convince you to go to your parent’s to he just carried you out , since during your captivity your left leg was messed up . No one said  anything on the way home .

______________________________________________________________

“She didn’t even want to come close to us ,”Hayley said , as tears threatened to come out of her eyes while plopping down onto the couch. “She didn’t want to come near her mother ,” tears ran down her cheeks.

“And I didn’t even notice my child was gone until someone else told me . It  wasn’t even like she was gone for a few minutes she was gone for over six hours. “ by now she was sobbing into Elijah , as Klaus over hears the conversation from his room.

“Was I such a horrible father  to them, both “ Klaus watches as his one night stand and brother try to comfort each other, while he watches Hope sleep. ” She hates me .“ he whispers to no one in particular, but hears his words .

"She doesn’t hate you Nik she–”“

"Just doesn’t want me to near her in her time of need , but hope would of ran straight into my arms. "He says, while running his fingers through her hair as Kol walks into the room . "That’s the problem brother you keep complaining that (Y/N) isn’t like Hope , and you keep pushing her away . eventually she will not want to think about that ,” Kol says then left Klaus so he can be alone

“No shit,” Harry mumbled, still chewing on the banana in his mouth.  “Freddie Mercury, was a fucking king. Is a fucking king. Will always be a king.”

“Agreed.” I giggled, still wrapped up tight in his sheets, watching him saunter around the kitchen.

I can’t explain the joy of that sight, Harry with his hair messy and long, wearing a tight pair of boxers and nothing else, dancing around to Killer Queen with a banana in his hand. It was such a simple sight, but one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen all at the same time. There was a happiness shifting within the deepest pits of my stomach, heart and mind. He was a vision, a dim-witted smile on his face as he clicked his fingers and sang along, swaying his hips. So beautiful. So perfect.

“Do you know what I would sacrifice, just to see him perform even one song live?” He groaned, sulking a little.

“With the little show you’re putting on, I think you could easily start a tribute act.” I told him, watching a gleeful smile spurt onto his lips. “I once saw a Queen tribute act, and they were fucking incredible. Can you imagine the real thing?”

“Even the thought makes me want to cry.” He said, and then started approaching me, singing along again. “Drop of a hat, she’s as willing as, playful as a pussycat, then momentarily out of action, temporarily out of gas, she’ll absolutely drive you-

WILD!” I joined in. “WILD!”

She’s out to get you!”

He jumped back onto the bed, making me scream with delight as he knocked me backwards, kissing at my lips as I squirmed and giggled below him, wrapping my fingers through his hair and trying to kiss him back, but my smile was stopping me.

“Oh my holy fucking shit, I’m so in love with you.” I told him. “This is like, the weirdest thing I’ve ever felt.”

“Good weird?” He said between attempted kisses.

“Yes good weird.” I blushed. “Amazing weird.”

I’d never felt closer with someone. Never.
Being in his arms felt like home, warmth and comfort and something that was just second nature, like I wasn’t even fully aware of it, it was just my norm. Laughing with him sent this weird feeling bubbling through my stomach, like I’d never laughed that way before, like certain giggles belonged to him, released from me for his ears only.
Being in love was a weird feeling, one that I was still trying to wrap my head around at the same time as having this feeling in my gut that told me I should have always felt this way, I should have always been with him.
After littering me with a few more playful kisses, he jumped back off me, sauntering back over to the kitchen, swaying his hips to the music.
I sat upright so I could watch him, Moggy jumping and curling up on my lap as Harry attempted to prepare our breakfast, too distracted by his dancing, and I could see how happy he was. It was almost like he was constantly smiling.
It was the 5th of May, only two weeks since we’d first said we loved each other, since we had sex, and although not much had changed, nothing felt the same.

“You tired?” I asked him.

He’d had a pretty restless night, his nightmare shining through in the way it always did, ruining what should have been his one escape, but some nights were worse than others.

“I’m fine.” He said, though I was sure he was lying.

“You should get some more sleep.”

“Ren, it’s fine. I’m fine.”

I think with each progression of our relationship, we’d both been hoping that maybe it would trigger something within him that would stop the dreams, or at least calm them, but nothing had changed. There wasn’t anything I could do to stop them, no matter how desperately I wanted to, it just wasn’t in my power.

“Harry.” I called, signalling for him to join me again.

Looking a little sceptical, he wandered back over to me, sitting at the foot of the bed and reaching out, locking our fingers together.

“You okay?” He asked.

“How’s therapy going?”

“You don’t need to worry about me.” He tried to dismiss.

“Well, tough shit, I do. So… talk to me.”

I watched his chest shuddering, using his other hand to run through Moggy’s thick, white fur, to which she purred appreciatively.
He looked down to his lap, taking a few moments to compose and ease himself before finally being honest with me rather than trivialising his thoughts.

“Ren, I-I can’t even explain, how happy I am for you… that you don’t go to therapy anymore and that you’re doing so well. It… It fucking makes my heart beat harder when I see you happy, and loving yourself. It makes everything better. But… I guess, it’s just kind of… It’s made it more apparent that I’m not there. I’m not even close. I just… I can’t even see an end and… it fucking hurts.”

He looked back up to me, the mornings sun beaming through his large window and making the green of his eyes even more captivating than they were usually. We were in the latter stages of Spring, and his eyes mirrored the world, green and growing and vibrant.
I had never seen his eyes during Summer, but the thought alone was enough to leave me breathless, just envisioning the kind of life that would burst within them.
I tightened our locked digits, biting gently at my bottom lip, my heart hurting.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered. “I can’t even begin to understand how hard it must be for you.”

“Sometimes at therapy… it’s almost like I can see the hope draining from Dr Jacksons eyes. We’re both trying… so fucking hard. We’ve been trying for a year and a half now… every week… and we have nothing. I feel so… defeated. I’m so tired. We’re… trying all these new techniques with like… meditation and trying to access repressed memories but I don’t think it’s working. She even wants to watch me sleep now. We’re getting desperate and it’s killing me.”

I pulled him in closer, latching my hand at the back of his neck and making sure his forehead crashed against mine, looking deep into his eyes, residue filling them, just like the way that raindrops land on petals in thick splashes, beautiful but too heavy for their new home.

“How do you have the strength to not drink every night?” I asked him, trying to stay composed for his sake. “You know it stops them, so… I don’t know how you have that strength.”

“Because I’m fine with being fucked up when I sleep, but I can’t fuck up everything I’m lucky enough to have when I’m awake. That’s what would happen. I know it’s easier when I drink, but I can’t let it take over my life. I miss just… sleeping. I miss being able to enjoy my sleep. There’s only one good thing that I’ve got out of these fucking dreams. Just one. It just feels so… cruel.”

I lowered my brows, still trying to hold back tears because I was the one who was almost forcing Harry to talk. This was his time to be vulnerable, not mine.
But seeing him in pain and seeing him hurting was something that just recoiled. His pain was my pain. My pain was his.

“What the hell did you get out of this that’s good?” I questioned.

He swallowed, nudging his cheek further into my touch when I reached to wipe his tears away, his nostrils gently flaring.

“You.” He simply said.

There was an ache in my chest, one that I couldn’t distinguish. It was painful, like I was sad but reflective and grateful and this entire mix of things.

“Me?” I gasped.

“Without these dreams we wouldn’t have met. I wouldn’t have been at that group therapy session, and we wouldn’t have… been in a fucking fake relationship, which I still can’t believe we did.” He managed to laugh through his slow tears. “Without these dreams I wouldn’t have you in my life. But… you’re the only good thing.”

“Harry-”

“There’s supposed to be good in everything bad, and you were that. You were… are, my good thing. But… They could have stopped when I met you. They should have stopped then. It’s not fair. I’m so fucking tired, Ren. I’m so tired. I think fate might be real… and, if it took those dreams to meet you then… they were worth it. But I have you now. We’re here now and we’re in love so why can’t they stop?”

It wasn’t unlike Harry to see the good in something bad, no matter how difficult the search was. He would find a way to see some form of light within the dark, even if that meant sparking a flame himself.
I was the only positive he could see in this, and that alone hurt, because that meant that Harry had spent three years looking for light, trying to spark flint, and everything had remained dark.
I couldn’t comfort him. It was impossible. Any promise I could make, there was no guarantee I could keep. I wanted to tell him that everything would be fine, that one day he would wake up and realise automatically that he’d slept straight through. He’d wake up realise that his sleep had been nothing but pure, sweet dreams accompanying his tender slumber, and his nightmares would quickly become a thing of the past, something he couldn’t remember clearly, like most nightmares.
I wished that I could say that to him, but I couldn’t. I’d broken promises to him before and I didn’t want to do that again.

“I love you,” I told him. “And I’m so proud of you, for coping the way you do. You have to keep fighting and you have to keep trying. I’ll be here, all the way.”

He gave me a weak nod, eyes fixed with mine as his tears calmed naturally, composing himself, breathing in and out, and resting his forehead against mine.

“I feel like… I’m close, y’know? Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night, and you’re there… I get this gut feeling that I’m gunna have the answer soon. Is that naive of me?”

“Trust your gut.” I simply replied. “Maybe you’ve been making more progress than you’re aware of. Remember how abrupt me finishing therapy felt? Maybe it’ll be the same for you! It’ll just happen. You’ll be making progress without even knowing about it. I’m sure you will.”

With no warning, he pushed his lips forward to greet mine, the tips of his fingers pulling me closer like he was desperate for me, like kissing me could cure the ache in his stomach and the agony in his heart. So I tried to kiss him back like I really did possess that power, forceful and commanding, trying to prove how much I loved him with every subtle pant and caring touch.
I heard Moggy groaning a complaint before she jumped off my lap, meaning I could clamber from my original spot and move to straddle Harry’s waist, dangling my arms over his shoulders and rolling against him, whimpering my sweet tune into his open mouth.
He groaned appreciatively back to me, his hands searching up my spine until he reached my bra, his fingers beginning to fiddle with the clasps.
I humoured him for a while as he tried to mess with the thing and get it off, just continuing to kiss him until I literally couldn’t, letting out the softest chuckle against his kiss

“Ren, don’t laugh at me.” He sulked, pulling away from my lips.

“I’m sorry.” I covered my mouth with my hand. “I tried.”

“This is all very new to me, you have to be delicate.”

“Okay okay, I’m sorry.” I was trying to restrain my smile.

“Just… Let me…”

The tip of his tongue poked out from between his plump lips, one eye gripped shut as the other looked up to the side, snapping the back of my bra as he tried to undo it, but he was having no luck.
I tucked my lips into my mouth, and it reached the point where my cheeks were literally hurting before I finally blurted out another laugh, flopping my head onto his shoulder.

“I’m sorry!” I cackled. “I can’t help it, I’m sorry.”

“Y’know what, you are the worst.” He huffed. “I see you in the morning, Florence Daisy Valentine! I see you putting your bra on backwards and then swivelling it round because you can’t do bras either! No one can do bras! Fuck bras.”

“Don’t turn this on me!” I cried.

“I will turn this on you. How long have you been wearing bras? And you can’t even do them properly. You’re a backwards bra person. You can’t say anything!”

“You’re so right, I’m sorry.” I kissed him again. “Bras are the worst. It’s okay that you struggle with them.”

“Piece of shit.” He said, beginning to meddle with it again.

I heard my phone ringing down on the floor by my side of the bed, and Harry let out a huge sigh, flopping back down onto the mattress and dramatically sobbing to himself.

“It just wasn’t meant to be.” I laughed, clambering off him. “We’ll try again after breakfast.”

“You’re going to have to make breakfast.” He wallowed. “I’m too sad.”

I fell with a thud onto the mattress with my head poking over the side so that I could see my phone.
When I noticed who was calling, I hesitantly reached out to pick it up from the floor, turning around and sitting with my legs crossed on top of the bed, my phone still in my hand.

“What’s up? Who is it?”

“It’s my sister.” I swallowed.

He flipped round so he could so me properly, his eyebrows creased towards the centre, giving me a somewhat cautious look.

“Answer.” He told me. “Don’t miss it.”

It must have been seconds away from going to voicemail by the time I eventually picked up, pressing the phone nervously to my ear, Harry’s eyes still on me.

“Hi.” I swallowed.

“Hi.” She replied, seeming just as anxious.

“H-how are you?”

“Terrible.” She replied. “I’m… terrible.”

Those words stung me, regardless of the fact we weren’t really close, and I hadn’t spoken to her since I’d learnt she told our mother about me quitting my job. I’d said I was cutting them out, but I couldn’t bring myself to ignore my sister. She was the one member of my family that I felt like I’d made some progress with.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Just… Beatrice Valentine. That’s what’s wrong.” She seethed.

What?”

I was more than used to Matilda always having our mothers back, and fighting her battles for her, and attempting to overlook her mistakes and her failures. I was definitely not used to hearing she had any bad feelings towards her. At all.

“She let me think for a week that you just… didn’t show to my engagement party. She let me think that you decided not to come and didn’t tell me why. She let me think that. She only told me on Sunday that she actually… told you that you couldn’t come.”

At that stage, it felt like nothing my mother did could shock me anymore. I had expected nothing less.
It was Friday, meaning the following day would be two weeks since the event, and it almost meant that she herself had known for almost a week, and she was only just reaching out to me.
It was something I could have bit her head off for, but I chose not to.

“I’m not really… speaking to mum anymore.” I mumbled. “I… I don’t know how I feel about speaking to you, either.”

“Please don’t cut me out, Florence. I know I probably deserve it. I know there’s a million things I could and should have done differently but… You’re my little sister. I want to try and make this right. Even if that doesn’t include mum. I want to make things right between us because I feel sick. I feel sick all the time, Florence. I keep… I keep remembering all these different things.”

“Like what?”

“I remember when we were little… Before grandad died and left all that fucking money. They sat us down and told us that they could only afford for one of us to go to private school, and that they’d chosen me. It… It’s like everything they did was just-just to prove that I was their favourite. Do you… Do you remember your thirteenth birthday?”

I blubbered abruptly, tears forming and falling and fucking hurting all within a damn second, suddenly remembering something that I’d tried to bury years ago.
I covered my eyes, trying not to look at Harry who had just hitched even closer to me, not wanting to look up and see the worry in his eyes, but happily taking his hand and linking our fingers when we reached for me.

“Yes.” I blubbered, my chest aching.

“They said you hadn’t done well enough in some stupid, pointless mock exams, so they hadn’t gotten you anything. All they spoke about all day was how fucking disappointed they were in you, and all you did was cry. Because… you’d tried so hard. You always tried so fucking hard.”

“I’m not as smart as you.” I sobbed.

“But you’re not thick either, are you? They always compared you to me. They always have and they always will. But… they’ve always been so harsh. And I’m only just seeing it. I’m literally only just seeing it. How smart can I really be? I’ve allowed myself to ignore these really obvious things and I’m so, so sorry, Florence.”

My hands were shaking, but I tightened my grip even more, squeezing Harry’s hand so tightly. It couldn’t possibly have been comfortable for him, and no matter how weak I was, it was bound to be hurting him.
He took his other hand, tucking some of my hair behind my hear and edging to get closer to me, wanting to comfort me more than I was allowing him to. I couldn’t even look him in the eye.

“I just… I felt like you were never there for me.” I wept. “And… you’re my big sister. You should have been there for me more than anyone and you weren’t. You let them boost you by putting me down, and it’s been so horrible, Matty. I don’t want to cut any of you out… You’re my family and I love you all so, so much, but I’m so tired. I can’t do it anymore.”

“Please let me try.” She begged. “I’m not going to force you to talk to mum and… I’m going to try and learn and not speak down to you in the way I have done before. Please let me try and make this better. I really want to try and make this better.”

“How?”

“I don’t know, but I want to try. I want to try and just… be your sister. Be your friend. Please, Ren. Please.”

A part of me felt like being her friend was just giving up, going back against something I’d decided to do only two short weeks beforehand. But another part of me felt like this was the exact progress we needed, and though it was coming a little later than I had been hoping for, it was still happening, and I’d be stupid to turn that kind of progress down.

“Okay.” I unlatched my hand from Harry’s to wipe away a tear. “Okay… Yeah.”

Really?” She beamed.

“We can try, Matty. All we can do is try.” I sighed, not feeling happy, or sad, just completely numb. “I’m not promising anything, because… I’m drained. But… we can try.”

“Thank you so, so much Ren. This means everything. Thank you. Okay so, I’ll drive over and see you soon, alright?”

“Okay.”

“You won’t regret this, Florence. I promise you won’t.”

“Okay.” I mumbled again.

She rambled on about how grateful she was for another few minutes before the call, eventually, came to an end, and I still felt numb.
Harry sat silently waiting for me to say something, my grip on his poor fingers finally loosening a little. My head was all over the place, wishing I could find the words to say, but nothing came.

“Ren?” He prompted.

“I feel like I just always fucking let myself down.” I spat abruptly, barely aware of what I was saying. “I’m so fucking weak.”

“Ren, no! You-”

Yes, Harry!” I finally looked up to him, tears blurring my vision. “It took me years to have the courage to step away from them, and one call from my sister and suddenly I’m trying to figure it out? I give up so easily. I turn my back on things all the time and I always, always let myself down!”

“You’re not letting yourself down, Ren! You always wanted to figure stuff out, and they needed to know how bad things were and how badly they made you feel, and they had to approach you. Because this isn’t your mess to fix, is it? It’s theirs. And they’re doing it now, and the fact that you’re open to letting them only makes you a fucking better person. You’re not letting yourself down, you’re doing yourself proud.”

Harry always had the perfect way of wording things that could make me view things differently, and change my mind. Harry could somehow make me see myself through his eyes to a certain extent, and make me feel as though even when I thought I was letting myself down, that I was actually doing the right thing.
He just knew exactly what to say to make me feel better.

“You really think so?” I sniffled.

“Your sister is willing to change, and work at this. You’re… such a big person for giving her the chance. Most people wouldn’t. Not after all the shit they’ve put you through. I really think you could figure something out with Matilda, and I really think you should.”

“Okay. You’re right. Okay. I’ll… I’ll try. That’s all I can do, right?”

“I’m so fucking proud of you.” He smiled, tears filling his eyes again. “You’ve grown so much. Proper sunflower now, aren’t ya?”

“Stop it.” I managed to giggle through tears, as he wiped away the final few with his thumb.

“You’re amazing, okay? And I’m not gunna force you to do anything. Whatever you wanna do, it’s your decision. Just giving my opinion, alright?”

“Your opinion is always so much better than mine though.” I kissed his hand. “I’d be stupid not to take your advice.”

He moved in and kissed me sweetly, and I just had a thought, just for a second.
That maybe things would always be that way.
Maybe me and Harry would always be there supporting each other.

“Does Harry still get jealous about me and you?” Zayn asked as I linked my arm through his.

“Hmm… I don’t think so.” I cooed. “I think now we’re a bit more committed, he’s a bit more chilled out about the whole thing.”

“Good. Maybe he’ll get off my bloody back now.”

Vocatus were hosting another evening for their staff, but this one seemed a little different to the previous. Harry had instructed we both dress up to the nines, and he’d literally invited pretty much everyone we knew.
Ahead of me, Niall, Sasha and Molly skipped in the right direction merrily, laughing and joking together, and if I checked back over my shoulder, I could see Harry, Liam and Mo bonding about something or other. We all had on our best dresses and our best suits. It was irregular to see us all looking so presentable.
I was blissfully happy.

“How’s your fake relationship going?” I asked.

“We’re prepped to the max now. I think we’re good to go. Time to show her off to my parents.”

“You’re gunna end up shagging her, aren’t you?”

“There’s a slight chance… I already have.”

“For fuck sake, Zayn!”

What? I couldn’t help myself. I’m weak!”

“This is already too complicated for your own good.”

“Like you can talk.” He huffed. “You bloody live with Harry now!”

“I realise that it all seems very ironic coming from me, but I’m also speaking from experience. You’re in for some trouble to say the least.”

“Well tell me this, Ren, are you happy?”

I looked back over my shoulder again, Harry already looking at me.
Maybe he’d heard his name.
Then again, maybe he just liked looking.
He shot me a wink accompanied by a gorgeous smile, and by the time I looked ahead of myself again, I was blushing.

“Probably the happiest I’ve ever been.”

“Well then, maybe I’m getting myself into something good, and you should stop lecturing me.”

“Okay. I’m sorry.” I admitted defeat with a smile. “Just… don’t go into it thinking it’ll be easy, alright?”

“Whatever. Let’s get fucked.”

We walked through the front door, and the place was already heaving. The infamous V after D night there had felt so intimate and quiet, and this was the opposite. The room was full to the brim, everyone looking scarily beautiful. Everyone there looked sophisticated.
I’d grown up going to things like that with my parents, but I never thought I’d go to such a nice event with my friends, on my own time, by choice.
It was nice.
Harry appeared at my side a few moments later, snaking his arm around me, his fingers clasping at my waist.

“You good?” He leaned into my ear and asked as Zayn rushed off to the bar.

“I’m great.” I replied. “Are you?”

“Yeah. I’m really good. You wanna drink?”

“I’d love one. Thank you.”

“You look beautiful.”

“Thank you.”

Immeasurably beautiful.”

“Thank you.” I giggled.

“Have I buttered you up sufficiently?”

“Uh… I guess?”

“Okay, well… I told Liam about the fake relationship thing and he’s about to quiz you. BYE!”

He literally ran away from me, the crowds fucking parting for him like they were bloody helping him without even meaning to. Fucker.
Liam was literally next to me within seconds, giving me this knowing smirk, like he already had planned exactly what he wanted to say to me.
I awkwardly smiled back to him.

“Hi, Liam.” I cringed.

“You two are fucked in the head. Perfect for each other. Who else would do that?”

“Zayn!” I pointed the blame. “Zayn’s doing it right now! Be mad at him! Tell him off!”

“I’m not gunna tell you off.” He laughed.

“Oh. You’re not? Okay…”

“I just wanna… try and wrap my head around it. C’mon, let’s take a seat.”

Liam was kind of intimidating to me, and I was still trying to wrap my head around why that was. He had this incredibly friendly face, and this warm vibe to him, but he still scared me. I think I’d just gotten the impression when I’d seen him that he was incredibly protective of Harry. I think he was the type of person who would never shy away from warning Harry off people he didn’t trust. I felt like I’d really need to be in hid good books or else he’d go back over to Harry and not care about saying he didn’t like me.
It was admirable, but terrifying.
We sat down together on one the dark grey sofas, and I tried to loosen up a little.

“So,” He seemed friendly enough. “Why did you do it? Doesn’t make any sense to me.”

“Uh… I think it would if you met my parents.” I swallowed. “They’re uh… They’re hard work.”

“Why?”

“They don’t agree with anything I do. They think I’m a massive disappointment. I just… I wanted them to think that I had something in my life that was going well. Just one thing. It didn’t even work.” I shrugged. “They just… can’t believe that someone as brilliant as Harry would be with someone like me. Kinda backfired.”

“That’s shit. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. It is what it is.”

“Okay, so, I get that.” He nodded, gazing out around the room. “But what about Harry? What were his reasons?”

“I think he just… kinda wanted his parents not to worry about him so much.”

“Well, that’s ridiculous.” He almost groaned, brows lowering. “That was never gunna work. They’re not gunna stop worrying about him until the dreams stop. None of us are, right?”

It made sense to me, why Harry had done that. I think in his head, it worked in the same way it did for me. It just felt like it was one less thing. Just something that had changed that they no longer needed to feel concerned about.
I guess I’d just never really thought of it in the sense of his parents knowing he had someone beside him to take care of him when the dreams got bad. It hit me in that moment, that that’s why he wanted them to think he had a girlfriend; so he wasn’t spending his nights alone and scared.
That was the main reason he wanted to get into that fake relationship.
It made sense to me, but what Liam was saying also made sense.
None of us were going to feel okay about what Harry went through until it was over, until we knew that he could sleep through the night peacefully for the first time in years. We were never going to stop worrying about him.
I nodded, feeling a little defeated, kind of numb to everything, even when I felt a huge thud beside me.
Louis had expertly jumped over the back of the couch and sat himself down on the back of it, his feet and his legs snuggled between the two of us.

“Oi oi, look who’s arrived!” He was a lot cheerier than I could allow myself to be. “Nice to see you both again.”

We both tried to cover it so well, but the greetings myself and Liam conjured up and shot back to Louis were nothing short of miserable.
He tensed alongside of us.

“Shit, sorry, have I butt in at a really bad time?”

“Louis, you know about Harry’s dreams, yeah?” Liam asked.

“Yeah. I… Yeah.”

He slumped downwards so that he was sat on the sofa properly, and his face had dropped considerably. It had taken just seconds for us to lower his mood considerably.
I suddenly remembered that not only did Louis know about Harry’s dreams, but he’d seen them. That was something even Liam hadn’t experienced.

“Do you worry about him?” Liam continued.

“I do, yeah.”

“And it doesn’t make a difference that he’s with Ren, does it?”

“I mean… I’m glad you’re there for him, and everything,” Louis turned to me. “But… No. It doesn’t stop me from worrying. Not after…”

Liam sat up a little, glaring back at Louis, and the grumpy look on his face proved to me that I had been right to feel a little bit intimidated by him.
His love and protection for his best mate clearly brought out this almost aggressive side of him.

“Not after what?” He prompted.

“Harry asked Louis to… watch him, once.” I sighed. “From what I heard, it didn’t go well.”

“He freaked out, I freaked out. It was a mess.”

There was a part of me that still kind of hated myself for ever suggesting to Harry that he should let someone else see his dreams, no matter how logical it was. I had used it against him for the wrong reasons, a way for me to mentally distance myself from the boy and convince myself that there was nothing special between us.
Hearing about how awful it had been only made me feel worse.

“What happened?” Liam asked, and it took all my might not to just run away from the two of them so I didn’t have to hear it.

“I mean… I knew it was coming so… Well, it wasn’t nice to see, but I’d been expecting it! It wasn’t too bad at first, but then… When I’d managed to wake him up, he like… He froze for a second, just looking at me… and then he flipped. He… swung for me. Thankfully, I dodged it, but-”

“He tried to hit you?” I cried.

“The worst part about it was how much he bloody apologised to me about it. Literally, for like, two weeks after. Every time I saw him. Drove me mad.”

“I can’t believe that!” I ran my hand through my hair. “I’ve never seen him like that! Not even close! He’s always been scared when he wakes up but never angry! I’ve never felt like I had to worry.”

“He said… summat about my eyes. I dunno. It didn’t make much sense to me. He was in a bad way. And then, like… I’m useless at the best of times, so then I start freaking out because he’s freaking out, and… I ended up knocking over and smashing this vase of sunflowers he had and… it was all just shit. He calmed down pretty quickly but, it did not go well. Like, he’d told me about them before but… I didn’t think they’d be like that.”

I was holding in tears as I took my eyes and looked to Harry, who was stood charming all my friends, nothing but magnetism and beauty shaping him. There was no way you would ever know the struggle he went through almost every single day of his life.
I knew from what he’d told me that afternoon, that he was actually exhausted. He was running out of stamina, slowly but surely.
I stood up rapidly, leaving Liam and Louis behind and just heading straight towards Harry. I don’t even know what I wanted to say to him or what my plan was, only that I wanted to be around him, to be in his company and to not be in complete denial that we shared a connection unlike anything else I’d ever known. I did help him, even if I wasn’t entirely sure how, I did.
I took his hand in mine as soon I could and dragged him to the corner of the room.
When I turned to look up at him, he saw the tears in my eyes.

“Hey, what’s happening?” He came closer to me, clasping his large hand against my jaw. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong. I’m fine.” I shook my head. “I just love you, okay? I love you so, so much.”

“I-I love you too.” He replied, seemingly confused. “Promise me you’re okay?”

“I promise. I just… I need you to know that I love you, more than anything. And I’m thankful that you’ve helped me so much, and I’m gunna do my best to return the favour.”

“You already help.”

“Well then I’ll do more.”

He moved his lips and kissed my forehead sweetly, wrapping his arms around and me and holding me close to him, and he whispered that he loved me over and over again.

Opinion | Why Saudi Women Are Literally Living ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
My own teenage years in Saudi Arabia were traumatic enough. Its female citizens face a life sentence of male dominion.
By Mona Eltahawy

It is impossible to convey the lived reality of what is essentially gender apartheid. When I first read Margaret Atwood’s novel “The Handmaid’s Tale,” it was Saudi Arabia as I knew it that came to mind, not a dystopian future United States as in the new television adaptation. The Saudi-American poet Majda Gama told me she was unable to sleep after watching the main protagonist, Offred, played by Elisabeth Moss, in the opening episodes.

“It raised thoughts I literally never tell my Caucasian friends because they wouldn’t understand,” she said, “because what Offred lived as some cautionary tale felt very much like my lived reality. One woman’s dystopia is another woman’s reality.”

Ms. Atwood has famously said all the horrors she included in her 1985 book have actually happened in one place and at one time or another. As far as Saudi Arabia is concerned, many of them continue to happen.

Just a Nightmare

shhhitstopsecret submitted:

My mom once told me a story about this dream she had when she was a little girl. She has five sisters and she lived on a farm till she was 19 and the whole time she lived there she shared a room with two of her sisters. One night she was about 9 at the time when her door opened and a man walked in and stood over her sister Tiffany’s bed watching her sleep. She told me she was so scared she couldn’t move and couldn’t speak. The man wasn’t my grandpa or even some one she knew. He stood there for hours just looking at my aunt with his back to my mom. The next morning she went downstairs and just to reassure herself it was just a dream asked if my grandpa locked the doors After he answered yes, she checked all the doors and windows too make sure nothing was broken.

This Thanksgiving at dinner my grandma started a joking conversation about Halloween and scary things at the dinner table. After everyone was done laughing at my moms story about this one time a garter snake was on the windowsill and made her cry. My aunt Tiffany started something about a nightmare that stuck with her through the years about a man that stood over her all night once when she was a kid. “In the middle of the night a man walked into our room and stood over me for hours just breathing. I kept my eyes closed because I was so scared of him finding out I was awake.” Everyone in the room was kinda spooked but my mom and another one of my aunts started tearing up. “I thought it was just a nightmare too.”

Fuck Yeah Nightmares Mod James: 9/10 Alright, I’m not sure what it is about this one but right now I find it creepy as FUCK.  Thanks for sharing the scares!

X-Files Fic: What Was Taken, What Was Lost- Chapter Two

Chapter one is here.

The chill is what wakes Mulder, along with the sounds of the storm outside, much louder than they should be from inside the hotel room.  He sits up, shivering, and sees that across the room, the French doors to the balcony are standing ajar.  The blizzard is still going strong outside, and the wind is blowing snow into the room.  Mulder leaps out of bed and runs over, stubbing his toe on the leg of the bed and swearing loudly, and pushes the doors closed again, latching them securely.

Stepping back, he rubs his hands over his unclothed arms.  While the room is frigid, the carpet beneath his bare feet isn’t very wet, which tells him that the doors couldn’t have been open long, otherwise much more snow would have blown in.  The latch is a sturdy one, and an experimental jiggle of the handle reveals that it’s not loose.  Did whoever closed it last not pull it completely shut, allowing the wind to blow it open?  He doesn’t remember Scully opening it at any point since their arrival, and he knows that he hadn’t opened it.  Maybe housekeeping had failed to latch it properly?

As he’s standing there thinking, staring out into the whirling flakes, there’s a soft snuffle from the bed, and he turns to look at Scully.  She’s fast asleep, curled on her side facing outward, and the covers have slipped down to her waist.  She’ll be cold, Mulder thinks to himself, and he tiptoes quietly to her side and pulls the blankets up over her shoulders, tucking them gently around her.  She sighs softly in her sleep, and he smiles.

 Thump.

He jumps at the sound, which he thinks came from the hallway.  It’s not a particularly loud noise; it’s as though something has been dropped on thick carpeting.  He wonders if another guest, wandering the halls at night, is out there… but he hears no footsteps.  Frowning, he crosses to the door and eases it open, sticking his head out into the hallway.

“Sirius!” She moaned as I relentlessly pounded into her.

Her head, face first into the sheets, I was hitting it from behind. In the room all I heard were her moans and the intense sound of skin slapping. She began to tremble from under me, her legs shaking, the sound of my heart racing swelled in my ears. And suddenly I felt it, the burning sensation in my stomach, the tingle of my nose, I was about to… I reached my hand infront of her, beginning to rub  so she could get on sooner.

“Sirius!” She yelled, her voice deepening, sounding a little different.

I began to shake.

“Sirius, wake up!” She moaned again, catching me off guard, her voice sounding completely diff-

“Sirius, bloody hell, wake up already!” James yelled, shaking me vigorously.

“What time is it?” I asked, rubbing my eyes.

“Half past seven.”

“Shit.” I said, “Why didn’t you bloody wake me up!”

James rolled his eyes, walking away from me and grabbing his tie off my bedside table.

“I’ve been trying to,” He smirked. “But you wouldn’t stop moaning Y/N’s name.”

“Oi!” I yelled back at him, a smile plastered on my face now.

James pointed down to my now noticeable erection, “Better take care of that,” he said, and walked out of the room.

I sit in my bed staring at the ceiling for a second, trying to figure out how i’m going to take care of the growing problem in my pants.

“Fuck it.” I say, running off into the bathroom, headed for the shower.

The great hall was loud, so loud, much too loud for someone who had just woken up. I walked down the long aisleways toward my Gryffindor table, spotting Remus, Peter, and James.

“Morning,” I said, brushing my hair back. “Do I look okay?”

“Morning,” Remus said, “When do you not look okay?”

“He’s right mate, you could be beaten to a pulp and still look good.” He said, patting me on my shoulder, sitting down on the bench.

I looked around for her, she wasn’t in her usual place in front of, or next to me. My eyes wandered, until I spotted her clearly, she was sporting her red uniform which seemed oddly obscure next to the green one. The green one. He was tall and blonde, hovered over her tremendously. She had her hair wrapped around her finger, and him as well, twirling the long strand. She looked up at him intensely, and he stared right back, a slight flush coated his cheeks. A girl of that caliber is not meant to flirt with someone like him.

[This is what I picture young Lucius to look like]

My heart sank deeply, it yearned for her. It was practically trying to break out of my chest and wrap itself around her. I couldn’t take my eyes off the sight, her giggling at his jokes that probably weren’t funny, him leaning closer and closer to her as people busily walked around them. She always got along well with slytherins because her father was one and she grew up with them her whole life. I’m not surprised they aren’t prejudiced towards her because she wasn’t sorted along with them.

“You can tell just how much of a slytherin she is when she’s around them, can’t you?” Remus asked.

“True, she basically is one, just in a red uniform.” Added James.

“Who is that?” I asked, looking at the tall blonde boy.

“Who?” James replied.

“The one she’s talking to.” I said.

“Oh, that’s Lucius, Lucius Malfoy.”

I stared him down, the bloke wasn’t any better then me. Maybe she didn’t like him, maybe he liked her and she was just being nice. Then again, she wouldn’t waste her time with someone she didn’t like. She smiled goodbye, then went on her way, swaying her hips on the way back, making sure he saw. He sure did, his mouth practically watering, it made my blood boil.

“Morning!” She said cheerily, sitting down across from me and grabbing an apple from the center of the table, taking a big bite out of it.

“Morning.” We all said in unisense, me a little more monotone then the others.

“Thanks for the warm welcome.” She said jokingly, rolling her eyes, watching me with intent.

“How’d you sleep last night, Y/N/N?” Remus asked, looking up from his newspaper.

“Peachy,” She replied, taking another big bite. “What about you Sirius, how’d you sleep.”

James laughed loudly along with Remus and I stomped on their feet wildly, she stared at me with wide eyes.

“Swell.” I said, grabbing the apple from her hands, and biting into it.

“Hey, give me my apple!” She yelled, trying to rip it from my hands.

“What were you talking to Lucius about?” I asked, holding the apple behind my head.

“Bloody hell Sirius, give me my damn apple!” She yelled at me, her tiny fists grabbing at my forearms.

“Not until you tell me what you were talking about!” I retaliated.

“Jealous?” She asked smiling, cocking an eyebrow at me.

“Me jealous? No way…” I said, handing the apple back to her. “Just curious.”

She winked at me, then took another bite out of her apple.

She looked ethereal sitting there. Her skin was glistening, her cheeks had a hint of flush, her hair hung loosely in a ponytail, the ends upturned reflecting the sun off them, she always had a gleam in her eye, even if there wasn’t anything gleaming in the first place. She could be sitting in a pitch black room in the dead of night and still through all the darkness I could see the little gleam of light in her eyes.

“Sirius?” She said to me.

“Hm?” I asked, still entranced.

“This staring problem of yours has really gotten out of hand.”

It was halfway through the day and I still kept catching Y/N and Malfoy talking to each other during class and in between them. It was half past noon, just after lunch, and everyone loaded into our defense of the dark arts class. Luckily, it was all of us together, Me, Y/N, Remus, James, Peter and Lily, so we all had a relatively good time.

This year’s teacher was different than the last, and the last different from the one prior. Seemed each year someone new had to fill the position of the old, I assume teaching the class was much too tiring.

Y/N stood next to me, her arm brushing mine gently.

“Here,” She said. “You have something on your lip.” And wiped it off with her thumb, smiling.

I uncontrollably smiled back and blushed, then got angry at myself because I was supposed to be mad at her.

“The Boggart,” The teacher said suddenly, interrupting everyone’s conversations. “Is a truly, wondrous creature. Can anyone explain to me exactly what it does?”

Remus clears his throat.

“Shocker.” I said, rolling my eyes.

“A Boggart is a shapeshifter, and it shifts into a thing the witch or wizard threatening it is most afraid of.”

“Good, Remus.” The teacher says.

“The way you defeat it is by casting a spell upon it, which ultimately changes it into something humorous, taking the fear out of it completely.” Remus adds.

“Does anyone know what the spell is in which you use against it?”

Remus began to open his mouth.

“Other than Mr. Lupin.” The teacher said, casting him a glare.

Y/N suddenly speaks out from next to me.

“Riddikulus.” She croaks.

“Yes, Miss Y/N. Riddikulus.”

And one by one each person went up to cast the spell on the boggart which was hiding restlessly inside an old cupboard in the back of the classroom. Interestingly enough, our teacher made us all go up in groups depending on our houses, trying to see the distinct difference between everyone’s fears.

The slytherins were up first. Severus’ boggart shifted into james, and Malfoy’s shifted into himself, but lifeless, he pictured himself dead. After all the slytherins went it was our turn.

“Potter,” The teacher said. “You’re up.”

And from there James’ had shifted into a winning quidditch cup but for another house, Remus’ has shifted into a moon and clouds, Lily’s shifted into a spider, and then it was my turn.

I stepped up slowly. My wand shook in my hands because I already knew what mine was going to be, and how weak it would make me look.

“Maybe I should do this some other time.” I said to the teacher. They in return, just shooting me back a glare.

And suddenly it shifted, dust flying up around it, contorting into its desired shape.

Suddenly, there it was, my mother, looking at me with disgust. I rolled my eyes at the snickers I heard around me and held my wand up in front of her face.

“Riddikulus.” I muttered, yet she still stepped closer, unphased.

“Louder.” The teacher called.

“Riddikulus!” I shouted, and suddenly she stood before me with rat ears and a tail.

It was her turn, Y/N’s. I was actually quite anxious to see what hers was going to be, even though I’m almost certain it’s going to be her father.

She stepped up slowly, looking at the Boggart with fear in her eyes. Once again, it contorted, and flipped, and dust flew out from all sides, but suddenly there was… nothing. Where once my mother stood now was nothing, the boggart had disappeared. The whole room went silent. She looked at the emptiness, shocked.

“She broke it.” Someone muttered.

Yet she still stood staring at it. Suddenly, she began to walk backwards, slow at first, then ran out of the classroom in a flash.

I looked to Remus and he looked at me and suddenly I was right behind her, on her way down the hallway.

“Y/N!” I called, yelling to her as she walked into a supply closet.

“Y/N.” I said sadly, leaning in on the door, resting my ear on it.

“Go away, Sirius.” She sniffled.

“I’m not leaving until you open the door.”

And with that I heard a small popping noise, and I quickly pushed open the knob. She was sitting on the floor her knees to her chest.

“I don’t get it,” I said, crouching down in front of her.

She sat there quietly and stiff, I rested my hand on her head to comfort her. She relaxed into my touch.

“I’m fine.” She said.

I tilted my head and looked at her longingly, she definitely wasn’t fine.

“Y/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, I have known you long enough to know when you’re fine and when you’re definitely not.”

She giggled a little and look up at me, her face slightly coated with tears.

“Don’t look at me,” she said. “I’m hideous!”

I laughed slightly and sat down right beside her, taking her head into my hands, wiping away the wetness with my thumbs.

“You’re much too pretty to cry.” I say.

She looks at me with big eyes, they swelled with tears. She leant up slowly and pressed her lips on mine, they were soft and swollen against my rough ones. I leant in a little, swiping my tongue against her bottom lip and she quickly welcomed me in. We pulled apart after a few seconds and she laid into me.

“This,” She said. “This is the exact opposite of what I was afraid of.”

She stayed quiet for a minute afterwards and rested her head into my chest, I drew circles slowly into her lower back, her legs draped over my lap.

I thought of it suddenly, and tightened my grip around her with my arms.

Her biggest fear is simply no one being there for her.

Set after “The Truth”

It rains the first night they’re on the road. The raindrops pelt angrily against the windshield and the wipers do their best to give Mulder a clear view of what’s ahead. Their scratchy movement contributes to the peculiar symphony they’re listening to; their silence, however, is the loudest participant.

Things they want to talk about, really should talk about now after all this time, they’re swallowed in kisses, in moans instead. Here in the car, though, the distance between them seems inexpugnable. Mulder considers taking her hand in his, the need to feel her soft skin against his is almost painful. But he doesn’t reach over. Despite their desperate love making last night, he is not sure where they stand. Their bodies remember each other flawlessly, as if never having been apart. The distant look in her eyes, emotions playing on her face he’s never seen before, they remind him that she lived through a hell he did not walk through himself. Just like his hell is his very own. They’re both burned, but their wounds no longer match.

And Mulder’s secret, he fears, will make it only worse. Cause newer, rawer pain.

His eyes wander over to her small body, slumped in her seat, her head leaning the window. She’s fast asleep, still trusting him enough to know he’ll get them there, wherever, safely.

“Forgive me, Scully,” he mumbles, “I am so sorry.”

The words come easy now knowing she can’t hear them.

*

“Where are we?” Scully wakes up with the sun, her voice as warm and gentle as the weather.

“We just passed Tucson.” Mulder adjusts his sunglasses, preparing himself for her next question.

“Where are we going, Mulder? Mexico?”

“No.” She waits for him to elaborate, tell her, and he just can’t find the words.

“I’m sorry, Scully. It’s just- let’s just drive, all right?”

She doesn’t answer; she leans her head against the window again, her eyes trained on the bleak landscape surrounding them.

“Don’t be sorry, Mulder. We’re in this together, remember?”

He nods. But she doesn’t know. She just doesn’t know.

*

They eat at a shabby road side diner, just like in old times. Mulder grins at her remembering mornings and afternoons spent together discussing cases. He misses it. Scully smiles at him softly, nodding to herself as if she, too, wishes they were still these people.

A few miles later Scully tells him to stop.

“You need sleep, Mulder.” She doesn’t offer to drive and he knows she’s right. They check in as Mr. and Mrs. Hale paying in cash with crumpled up bills. The room is clean enough, he figures. Silently he strips down to his boxers as Scully shuts the blinds.

She watches him get comfortable in bed.

“You’re not joining me?”

“You should sleep, Mulder. I’ll be fine.”

“You know, I can behave myself. Come to bed, Scully. I’ll be a gentleman.” She takes off her jacket, her blouse and finally her skirt. Mulder keeps his eyes on her face, determined. His cock betrays him, throbbing gently, tightening his shorts.

“But who says I can behave myself?” She whispers and Mulder lets go, lets her take the reign for the moment. When he comes, her walls clamping down on him, guilt surges through him, reminding him that he doesn’t deserve this. When she kisses him after with a smile on her face, he tastes bitterness.

Her eyes begin to flutter and her breath evens out.

“I love you,” Mulder whispers into the room where the air conditioner gently hums, almost like a lullaby, “I love you so much, Scully.”

There is no answer and he is glad.

“Forgive me, Scully. Forgive me.” And he, too, sleeps.

*

When Mulder changes the direction north, Scully shoots him a look but stays quiet.

What did they used to talk about on these drives? Mulder doesn’t remember. In his memory, they’re always talking, quarreling. Cases, theories, ideas but nothing he could pinpoint. It was a time before his death, his resurrection. Before there were new partners assigned to find him, to have her back. A time when there was no baby boy; no regrets on either side why he isn’t with them now.

“We could stop in Las Vegas, make it official.”

It’s supposed to be a joke, but Scully’s silence and her somber face tell him it was the wrong thing to say. He doesn’t apologize. Not for this.

As the scenery changes, the mood in the car remains the same.

“I really am sorry, Scully. For all of this.” When she doesn’t answer, he believes she’s asleep again. He doesn’t question her exhaustion, doesn’t ask why.

“Stop apologizing, Mulder. There’s nothing to be sorry for, nothing to forgive.”

“You heard me.”

“I did. It’s just- I sent you away, Mulder. To keep you safe and to… if there’s anyone who should be sorry it should be-“

“No, Scully. Don’t. Just… don’t.”

Silence takes over after this and Mulder feels it deep inside himself; the guilt manifesting itself inside, striking roots. You don’t know, Scully. You don’t know.

She’ll find out soon and then… and then.

*

They arrive with the sunrise. Orange flames lick at the sky as Mulder steers the car onto the graveled path.

“Where are we?” Scully’s voice is still thick with sleep. She runs her hands through her hair automatically.

“Mulder, where are we?” He stops the car, the house still small there in the distance. Mulder turns to Scully, who stares intently at him. There have been moments like this before in their long partnership; Mulder running off, leaving her with merely a sliver of the truth. Once she did it to him, too. This, he knows, is a different betrayal. One she might not forgive him.

“We’re in Wyoming.” There’s no reaction on her face. She has no idea.

“Scully, I couldn’t, I-…” Mulder trails off; he can’t do this. He starts the car again, Scully’s blue eyes burning into him, never once looking anywhere but his face. It takes maybe another 20 seconds, 30 tops, before the house comes into focus. Scully’s eyes leave him someone walked out the door. Mulder slows down the car and it finally stops in clear sight.

“Mulder…” He doesn’t recognize the emotion in Scully’s voice. He listens to the click of her seat belt, the soft close of the car door as she steps out. The woman on the porch holds her baby tightly, fastening her grip involuntarily.

Mulder takes a deep breath. He couldn’t have told her. He doesn’t have the words for it. Opening the car door, soft air hits him, reminds him of a place somewhere, of something he can’t put his fingers on. The baby kicks gently, like happy children do when they’re excited, and Mulder looks at his son for the first time in over a year.

“Mulder, why…” Scully’s voice breaks.

“Forgive me, Scully.” He pleads.

He needs her to forgive him because he can’t let go, can’t forgive himself and partly her, for giving up. For giving up their son.

“We’re taking our son home.” He says, determination in his voice.

“God Y/n, you haven’t stopped yawning since we walked into this class.” Y/n’s good friend, and potions partner, Draco Malfoy laughed as he poured some sort of liquid into the cauldron and stirred it until it turned pink.

“I must have gotten about a half an hour of sleep last night.” She replied groggily as she rubbed her eyes and yawned yet again.

“What on earth could have kept you up so late?” Draco looked at her dumbfounded and she sighed.

“Mcgonagall’s paper.” She rested her chin on her hand and her eyes fluttered shut.

“Ah saved it for the very last day did we?” Draco chuckled and Y/n sighed loudly. “Well you’ll have to make sure to get a good night’s sleep tonight huh?”

Draco felt something fall onto his shoulder and he looked down to see a Y/n with her head on his shoulder, sleeping soundly. He bit his lip as he debated waking her up or not but she looked so peaceful that he shook his head and returned to his work.

As he continued with the potion, he took quick glances at Y/n sleeping quietly on his shoulder. Whenever he looked at her, a smile sneaked its way onto his face. It seemed as if everyone in the world knew about his massive crush on her, except for her.

After about twenty minutes, Draco finished the potion. He looked at Y/n, still sleeping soundly on his shoulder and smiled. He brushed a lock of her silky hair behind her ear and trailed his fingers down her in an attempt to wake her up. He hated to do it but he didn’t want Snape to catch her sleeping.

Her eyes slowly opened and she gradually lifted her head. She batted her groggy eyes and looked around the room with a confused expression. Draco was sure that she had never looked more beautiful.

Y/n finally looked at Draco and he offered her a warm smile. “Good morning darling. How did you sleep.”

“That felt really good.” She muttered as she rubbed her eyes and stretched her arms. “I needed that.”

“You’re going to need more than twenty five minutes to get rid of your sleepy eyes.” Draco chuckled as he got the attention of Snape who strode over to critique their potion.

“Tired today are we miss Y/l/n?” Snape asked as he glared at Y/n from the corner of his eye before turning his attention to the potions. “Well done nonetheless. You will both receive an A for the day.” With that, Snape turned around, his cloak flying off the ground and nearly knocking something off the table as he moved towards mother students table.

“You know, you’re kind of cute when you’re asleep.” Draco noted as he began to clean up some of the ingredients.

“You we’re watching me sleep?” She asked, slightly shocked.

“Well you were in my shoulder.” He shrugged she’s shoulders and her cheeks turned red.

“Well thanks I guess.” She grabbed some other ingredients and held them out to him. “Y’know, i’ve always kind of wondered what it would be like to wake up next to you..”

His eyes flicked to hers and a small smirk tugged at the corner of his lips. “Oh really?” He took the ingredients from her and set them down on the counter.

“Well not too often but just sometimes.” She shrugged as she grabbed more of the little vials.

“Like when?” He asked as he took those from her as well.

“Well….now..” She looked up at him and he raised his eyebrow at her. “Don’t give me that look!” She giggled as she hit his arm playfully. “Pansy has told me quite enough about you to make this all completely even.”

“She has!?” Draco’s eyes got wide and she laughed. “It’s okay Drac. I already knew.” She smirked up at him and he relaxed, a kind of half smile forming on his lips.

She sighed and leaned her head on his shoulder again. This time, it was on purpose. He felt butterflies in his stomach as he slowly and carefully wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer into him. “I’m willing to give it a shot if you are.” She looked up at him from hooded eyes and he gave her a genuine smile.

“I’m more than willing darling.” He planted a kiss on the top of her head and he could barely contain his smile.

Winter Soldier x fem!reader

Warnings: swear words, some aggression, unconsented touching while reader is sleeping

Summary: reader and winter soldier are partners for Hydra and are on a mission, creepy guys that is helping them gets creepy with reader

Note: I’m not good at summaries so extra info- unconsented touching isn’t descriptive, reader calls Bucky “Winter” bc she doesn’t know his real identity either

———————————–

Winter’s POV

Sleep left me vulnerable so I didn’t do it much. That wasn’t a problem for me, I don’t usually enjoy my time in the unconscious state anyways. Random scenes always play out that usually aren’t pleasurable to watch and leave me in a worse state than before I fell asleep. Besides, sleeping wasn’t my job. Completing the mission was my job, along with protecting (Y/N) who was sleeping beside me right now. Wrapped in the thin blanket on the squeaky motel bed, she had her head resting on the pillow next to my right arm with her hands pulled tightly against her chest as she peacefully slept. Hearing her relaxed breathing and seeing the slow rise and fall of her chest took me out of my normally alert state and relaxed me. Usually I never come in contact with a bed, but (Y/N) didn’t feel safe sleeping alone since our intel guy was staying in the same room as us. I had already seen him a few times get a little too close for comfort with her, so I listened to her pleas and agreed to stay beside her while she slept. I didn’t mind it anyways. I could keep a closer eye on her, and I liked being the one she came to for comfort. I had kept my eyes on our intel guy for most of the night but being in my relaxed state, my eyes started getting heavier and I felt myself starting to drift off beside (Y/N)’s warm body. Intel guy had fallen asleep about an hour ago in his own bed, so I allowed myself to get some, probably much needed, rest. As time seemed to pass slower in my hazy state, I heard what sounded like heavy breathing and low moans and then felt a dip in the bed from (Y/N)’s side. Worried she might be hurt, I opened my eyes and looked at her, only to see the intel guy with his hand under her shirt while she still slept. Feeling the anger boiling in me, I pushed myself up off the bed and grabbed the guy by his shirt, slamming him into the nearby wall.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I growled lowly at the trembling man. He clearly didn’t think he was going to be caught in the middle of feeling up (Y/N). After he answered with a string of stutters, I wrapped my metal arm tightly around his throat.

“You’re not a necessity to this mission, so you better have a better answer than that or else nothing is stopping me from crushing your throat right now.” As he stared with wide eyes, I heard (Y/N)’s small voice from behind me.

“Winter? Winter, what’s going on?” I turned around and saw her rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she pulled the blanket off of herself. Momentarily distracting me from my previous threat, seeing her only ignited my anger even more as I replayed him trying to take advantage of her while she was in such a vulnerable state.

Tightening my grip on his throat, I turned back around to the pervert, “I don’t know, would you like to explain why you had your hand up her shirt?” I enjoyed watching him struggle for air as I pressed harder and harder on his throat. I then felt a hand on my back as (Y/N) told me to let go of him.

“Winter, if you kill him, the mission is going to take longer, and you know our handlers won’t be happy about that. Just put him down. He’s not worth the consequences.” I thought that he was worth the punishment I would surely receive for killing him, but a tug on my arm from (Y/N) convinced me to let go of him. As he dropped to the floor, gasping and coughing for air, I grabbed him by the arm and harshly pulled him into the bathroom that was on the other side of the room.

Throwing him into the cramped, dingy room, I grabbed his face and forced him to look at me, “If I ever catch you doing that shit again, you’re going to wish I had killed you just now.” Getting up, I gave him a hard blow to the jaw with my metal appendage, effectively knocking him out. I closed the door and returned to the bed (Y/N) and I were previously sleeping in. She watched me nervously as I sat on the bed in an upright position with my back against the headboard. I motioned at her with my head to come closer, which she did quickly. When she got close enough, I grabbed her arm, tugging her on top of me and pulled the thin blanket over us. I pulled her tightly to me as she laid her head on my chest and wrapped her arms around my torso. With her slowly falling back into a slumber in my arms, I stayed up the rest of the night making sure I was there if anything happened again.

A/N- fuck its been a hot second since the last time i wrote. update i survived junior year and im now a senior in high school

cbulldog09  asked:

Could you do BBRae "is that my shirt?" for the prompt list, please?

Better late than never, right? Slight lime in here, folks.

He decided he liked the view.

Something about the way her back curved, the line of her spine that he could trace with his fingertips, like a painting come to life.

The rays of the sun were just beginning to trickle in, and the crisp, white linen sheets sat rather immodestly about her gently rounded hips.

Her skin was porcelain; a blank canvas, lightly lined with scars that he’d spent some of the previous evening getting to know.

Her hair was a tossled mess of obsidian violet splayed across the white of her pillow. Her shoulders shifted ever so slightly with every breath she took as she slept soundly.

Yeah, this was certainly a view he could get used to.

Confidence

Pairing: Dean x Reader
Words: 898

-The reader is confident and shows off her body in the privacy of her and Dean’s room. But is much different in public. Dean wants to know why-

Warning: insecurities about body

A/N: If you want tagged in something, let me know.

You were lying across the bed just looking at random things on your laptop when you heard Dean walk into the room. He let out a low whistle, “Baby, that is a sight I love to see,” he said, eyes raking over you.

You rolled your eyes. You were lying there in a pair of short shorts and one of his t-shirts, “You’ve seen it all before,” you said.

“Doesn’t mean I don’t like to see it all the time,” he pointed out, walking over to sit on the bed with you, “I don’t think I could ever get tired of seeing you.”

           “Well, thank you.”

Dean put his hand on your calf, “I was thinking about ordering in a pizza or something. You want something?”

           You nodded, “Always want pizza.”

           Dean chuckled, “That’s my girl.”
