she was a really cool character

anonymous asked:

In the new teaser, only Dumbledore, Queenie, and Jacob actually look at Grindelwald, and I can't help but think it's because they're the only three that really recognise the danger. Dumbledore because he's old friends with Grindelwald, Queenie because she's a Legilimens, and Jacob because he trusts Queenie. I dunno, that's the one thing that really struck me with the teaser.

This is a really really cool theory. I can see JKR doing something like that, especially bc Queenie’s legilimency has always been her major character trait!

I'm fairly sure I'm only a little younger than you, so would it be cool to call you sister instead of mom? I'm in my late 20s

I’m 33, so yeah, the Mom thing doesn’t really work for us. So yes, sister it is!

Y’all, there’s a new dumpster auntie! And she DRAWS CHUBBY CHARACTERS BLESS HER SOUL!

I am so happy you’re here, pal.

real talk, enough of this coding characters as butch lesbians by drawing from our culture & dress sense and then turning around and saying they’re straight

you make that butch lesbian character, and you commit to that character being butch and a lesbian and you give her a really cool sword like she deserves

“You Have to Care” just aired last night and I can finally share one of my favorite episodes from OK KO! I felt a special connection to this episode because Elodie was one of the characters I had gotten before I was hired as a freelance character assignment. Elodie’s character was a lot simpler back then so it was really cool to be able to work with @stevieborbolla and @dannyducker and Ian to do a revamp of Elodie’s design. Originally she didn’t have an involvement with Enid so this new development called for a revisit of her character!  I didn’t quite have a handle on how complex our props could be so I was really excited to also design a new bow for her!  I can say that I was clearly inspired by  Madoka Magica and general Mahou Shojo anime!

SDCC Steven Universe Panel Highlights

I thought I’d summarize some details on the San Diego Comic Con panel for anyone who wants it.

The panel at SDCC opened with a live singing of the theme song.

Zach Callison is the moderator. He introduced the guests: Michaela Dietz (Amethyst), Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl), Estelle (Garnet), AJ Michalka (Stevonnie), and of course Rebecca Sugar. He gives her congrats on the Emmy nomination (which is for “Mr. Greg” if you didn’t know). Then he asks the other cast members some questions. This is all paraphrased, not direct quoting.

Zach to Michaela: What Amethyst quotes do you use most in daily life?

Michaela says that when she wakes up, she makes noises that sound like her Gem is cracked. Then she says maybe she should change her answer to “womp womp.”

Zach breaks in with “Which way to the baby war?” as his favorite.

Zach to Deedee: What songs do you sing around the house?

She responds “Which do I NOT sing?” She likes “Love Like You” in the shower. “Steven and the Stevens” when she’s doing dishes, and “Peace and Love” a lot lately. Her kids are learning the songs on piano and ukulele, so there’s lots of SU tunes happening in her house.

Zach to Estelle: How has the popularity of the show affected your music career?

Estelle basically says a new generation of people are noticing her music and realizing she is the singer on songs they encounter in the wild. Zach says he grew up on “American Boy.” ;)

Zach to AJ: How has Stevonnie changed since their first appearance?

She says Stevonnie has learned a lot, and has more confidence now.

Then the cast does a great little line read of the scene when Stevonnie first appears, beginning with them barging in with “Pretty cool right?” The voice actors all say their parts and perform it slightly differently, which is cute. Then they do a version of “Here Comes a Thought” with Estelle and AJ!

Zach to Rebecca: What’s next on Steven Universe?

(Of course she laughs.)

Rebecca says the show has recently had so many huge events, so there will be lots of fallout, like a roller coaster from here on out. Then they show a clip. It’s sort of like a trailer. It’s all about Lapis’s conflictedness not wanting to get caught in another war, Homeworld’s future actions, Pearl being unable to properly explain the context of everything even though she wants to, and Greg not knowing his place in all this.

Zach says he hadn’t seen it yet.

Then they talk a bit about the Save the Light game coming out. A trailer for the game pops up and it includes footage that hasn’t been seen. Including a new character: Squaridot, a Peridot from Homeworld.

Rebecca was very involved in the making of the game. She says having a console game is a dream come true because they could do so much more than with the small mobile game, Attack the Light. There are Fusions and original characters, and the mechanics are relationship-based, and Greg is a player character who can play guitar. She likes that Squaridot is a Peridot who hasn’t made the kind of progress that Peridot has made. They segue to say Shelby Rabara (Peridot’s voice actor) is taking over social media for the week.

Then they talk about the Art and Origins book being out, and how there’s a SDCC-exclusive version. Launching also is the podcast, a 10-episode production, about the production of the show. McKenzie Atwood is the host. Rebecca and Steven were Episode 1–I’ve already heard this (and I seem to recall there wasn’t really a lot of new info except that the Gem writing in the Kindergarten will say who each section belongs to if you can read it, and that a lot of Ishtar imagery was used, including the 7 lions and the stars). Rebecca did episode 1 of the podcast with her brother, and says she wishes she could do everything with Steven. Zach and Grace are Episode 2.

They talk about how the soundtrack Volume 1 is out, and announce that a vinyl version is out in fall! A limited-run Stronger than You and Love Like You vinyl single is out for SDCC.

Then they play a name-the-song game with SU cosplayers. They complimented a Pearl cosplayer’s cool spear too. They read lyrics, tell what song it’s from, and if the player gets it right, they win a vinyl single. Quiz songs included “Love Like You,” “Wailing Stone,” “Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart,” “Steven and the Stevens,” “It’s Over, Isn’t It,” “What’s the Use of Feeling (Blue),” and “Comet.” Most people got them right, but if they got it wrong they got to try another one.

Then there’s a Q&A, which I’m paraphrasing the 12 questions:

1. Audience member: Fluorite is a polyamorous relationship, right? What inspired it?

Rebecca said she went to an LGBTQ center in Long Beach and chatted about what stuff they really wanted to see. Poly relationships came up. (So yes, that’s confirmed, though in my opinion it really didn’t have to be since they were pretty clear about it!)

2. Audience member: Fan theories–do they influence you or do you have a master plan?

Rebecca says she loves fan theories, but they work way further in the future, so no, they really don’t influence what the story does. She has loved reading the theories about the trial, because some are onto something, and some are like way off. Zach says the good stuff gets downvoted a lot.

3. Audience member: Says a favorite character of theirs is Rainbow Quartz, and wants to know will we see a version of her with Steven?

Rebecca says of course she can’t give spoilers, but that Rainbow Quartz 2.0 would inevitably be different. Then she quickly says, “Forget I said that.”

4. Audience member: How old is Lion? Have we seen all his powers?

Rebecca says it’s a good question and can’t say exactly. The episode “Buddy’s Book” gives a hint at the general time when Rose was spending time with seven lions. That’s a gauge for how old Lion is. She implies that Lion does have more to show us about what he can do.

5. Audience member: Regarding the “Off Colors” episode, which Off Color do you relate to?

Rebecca immediately says “Rhodonite, the neurotic.” Then Zach says he relates to Padparadscha because he’ll trail off in the middle of a sentence. Deedee says she relates to that too.

6. Audience member: On writing music for the show–any challenges?

Rebecca says it’s very challenging–they’re given no extra time to work on the songs. “Mr. Greg” was most challenging of course. Zach is glad the Emmys recognized Rebecca’s extra hours. He said he had a hard time when his voice changed. “Puberty is a thing,” he says, while talking about some songs he struggled with.

7. Audience member: Will there be a Blu-Ray?

Rebecca would like it. Making it happen will take more moments like this (the panel, people showing up for the show).

8. Audience member: Did Yellow Diamond shatter Pink Diamond?

Dude.

Zach: “We won’t tell anyone what you say Rebecca.”

Rebecca just says she’s really excited about the next run because it was a chance to do a real murder mystery.

9. Audience member: What inspired you to use gems/rocks?

Rebecca: “Aesthetic! It’d look cool!” But she learned a lot about myths. Smoky Quartz was fun to learn about gem trivia for, building important symbolism into their character. Estelle said gems are just really pretty, that’s enough of a reason.

10. Audience member: How often do you write a song and then build an episode around it or vice versa?

Rebecca says it depends. Character stories will need a song when dialogue just isn’t enough. “Here Comes a Thought” was unusual since it came before the episode. She wanted it to be a tool to teach kids about mindfulness meditation.

11. Audience member: Do you anticipate what’s going to be popular on your show?

Rebecca says on the inside they focus on loving what they’re making. Team ideas that are spur of the moment seem to catch on most with the fans too. They discuss Padparadscha’s immense popularity. Sapphires are sort of Zelda-like, Rebecca says, and she wanted one who reminded her of Peach. Lamar Abrams came up with the idea of making her hair kinda look like a crown to increase the feeling that she has a matching vibe.

12. Audience member: On Lars’ development: was it planned initially?

Rebecca says it happened naturally. He’s one of the oldest characters in the show, and she was drawing him in college. Lars-n-Sadie comics are older than SU. (This was already known but apparently some people didn’t know they predate the show.) So of course they were always going to be important. (Zach says Lars was important in the pilot for calling Steven names.)

For anybody that is looking for tv shows at the moment with w|w ships, this is a pretty good one. Im kinda sad that more people don’t know about it because its actually really great. (or at least i haven’t seen any of it on my dash)

So the tv show, “Stitchers” is like a sci-fi crime show where they “stitch” the mind of a live person to someone who was recently deceased to retrieve their memories and figure out how they died and who killed them.

Now this show recently introduced medical examiner Amanda Weston who quickly becomes the girlfriend of Camille Engelson.

Camille has been a lead character on the show since episode one and has been previously dating men and was not really “out” as anything, other than a very brief mention of dating one of her ex’s sister that everyone kinda just brushed off.The show however handles other characters finding out about her relationship with Amanda super well and makes it all seem “normal” and supportive.

Also, Camille is super sarcastic and clever and she has the best one liners.

AND remember that show “Drake and Josh” and remember Mindy Crenshaw? Well, same actress

And Amanda is played by Anna Akana who is surprisingly one of the youtubers who is actually a GOOD actress (and is also super cool)

now these two have only been together for like 3 episodes so far but they’ve been insanely cute. I mean they serenaded each other in like the second episode that Amanda was in. and both of them sound like literal angels

also did i mention how Camille beat down a bitch to save Amanda (i don’t think theres a gif for this yet since the episode is new) and afterwards when Amanda was tending to her wounds and Camille telling her how much she means to her.

Anyways, these two are literally the cutest and sassiest couple out there and I want more people to know about it

*UPDATE* Until you find me is officially their song

Happy birthday @brewka!!! <333

I hope you like my present for you and that have a wonderful day :))))

So I’ve had this idea for some superhero lesbian romcom type story that I dont have the skills or focus to really develop but man do I want it.

Main POV is on the hero character. She’s terse and high strung in that vulcan “im calm and collected and cool outside but eternally screaming on the inside” way. Overthinks Everything.

Her main nemesis is some catwoman style jewelry thief who GLEEFULLY lives up the “ridiculous sexy villain” aesthetic. She’s gonna be comfortable but that doesnt mean she aint gonna look GOOD because these tiddies DESERVE to be appreciated via a cleavage window.

This is almost entirely why the hero has dubbed this mostly harmless thief as her nemesis like who fucking does that some of us are trying to do respectable work while she goes around feeding into EVERY sexy cliche I hate it so much I keep this picture of her to remind me of how much she annoys me and sleep with it every night.

Anyway. Hero one day sees her Nemesis in a mundane setting like at work or a coffeeshop and recognizes her INSTANTLY (reason 3 she’s annoying: actually thinks a dainty black eyemask is a DISGUISE)

Hero is like “hooollllyyy shit holy shit it’s her jfc she is FOLLOWING ME she’s trying to PSYCHE ME OUT!! Well ill show her im gonna go over and pass some hints that im on to her shit!!”

Goes over and is bamboozled when Nemesis is just all “oh hey i was wondering when you’d stop staring and come talk to me ;)” and next thing she knows theyre sitting down and having coffee together and then it hits her.

Not only did Nemesis not recognize her (of course she didnt because SOME OF US know how to do a disguise with voice changers and all) but she is now on a date. It’s a good date. Nemesis is flirty and cute and oh no she runs a charity organization for street kids fuck thats where the money all goes oh no oh fuck

And then dates?????? keep happening??????????? but moonlight chases across the city also keep happening????? Hero is Very Confused and Conflicted and it’s a constant hilarious comedy of errors of her almost coming clean on who she is then chickening out and in a constanr state of lowkey existential crisis.

All leads up to some scene where theyre doing the Hero and Villain thing and Hero cant stop from flirting hardcore and laying it on thick (bc she is now starting to warm up to this whole catsuit and titty window look she sees the benefits)

Only to have Nemesis go “oh honey thats sweet but im not gonna let you off easy for it. Also I have a girlfriend anyway”

Cue another lowkey existential crisis of being stuck between “I JUST GOT FUCKIN REJECTED BY MY OWN GIRLFRIEND????!?” And “holy shit she called me her girlfriend and turns down people for me oh my god ❤❤”

Plot twist: when she finally comes clean over breakfast Nemesis is like “oh thank god i was wondering when you’d say something because pretending I didnt know was getting too old to be fun anymore, like I caught on around our third date, anyway you want some more pancakes?”

okay so I just feel the need to say why Brooklyn nine nine is the best show so strap yourselves in it’s gon be long

 * first off, hella diverse cast

 * and no “token” characters there just for the sake of diversity, each character has very different personalities from each other and represent the actual population

 * despite totally different personalities they are all really good friends and care about each other so much- each character’s relationship is different and I find that beautiful

 * wE HAVE A BLACK GAY MAN IN THE HIGHEST POSITION OF POWER IN THE PRECINCT?? that’s so cool

 * amy santiago is never played off as “just Jake’s love interest/girlfriend” she has all her own plots and stories and is amazing and strong and the best

* healthy communication in amy and jakes relationship !!! making sure it doesn’t stop them from doing their job to the best of both their abilities !!!

* Terry is a very macho “man’s” man but isn’t afraid to show his feelings and it’s real nice to see them show how being emotional doesn’t make you a weak man

* the solidarity between the girls because we gotta stick together

* “I met god” “what does she look like?” “Ethnically ambiguous"

* constantly calling out the world for all it’s shit (homophobia, racism, gun laws, corruptness of the police, sexism, I cOULD GO ON)

* and now the reason I decided to make this now: THEY JUST MADE A WHOLE EPISODE ABOUT HOW BULLSHIT RACIAL PROFILING IS

* a show about cops still managed to find a way to talk about it bc they know it’s an important issue and did it in such an incredible way

* showed two sides of dealing with the situation, holts plan and terrys, and neither were ideal, both would have backlash for Terry more than the dickhead who stopped him tbh

* and showing Jake doing hella suspicious shit and not getting stopped

* oNCE AGAIN CALLING OUT THE WORLD FOR ITS SHIT

* (but this time with a whole ep not just mentions bless)

* also Jake and amy having to explain it all to Terry’s kids was v upsetting to see how scared they were at first that this would happen just because they were born as they were

* AND mentions of transphobia and telling the twins it’s okay if they don’t identify as female, what other show would

this ain’t even everything it was just getting v long BASICALLY no show is as woke as brooklyn nine nine, it’s hella funny too with great plots and ships too if that’s what you look for and everyone should watch and @ fox if you don’t renew I will fight it is better than all other shows

also highkey fuck anybody who says kali and episode 7 was just “to show that eleven has a moral compass and knows right from wrong.” Eleven made a choice to follow her own moral code and did what was best for her personally, but that does not mean that she was right and kali was wrong, or that el’s morals are in any way “better” than kali’s. Kali is her own character and not just some foil for El, and i really hope she’ll be back for season three so we can learn more about her and see her have her own story. She is a gorgeous, badass, complex woman with awesome hair and a lot of justifiable anger and her own cool moral code, and i hope the duffer brothers/fandom don’t sleep on this or use her just to prop up El

What podcasts I listen to

This is a post that most likely no one cares about since I shitpost whatever I’m into but I wanna get my thoughts about the podcasts I listen to regularly and what I feel about them.

Welcome to Night Vale - This is the one that got me into podcasts although it scared me at first. I managed to listen to 60 episodes in almost a week so I was pretty hooked. This is about a friendly desert community where the sun is hot, the moon is beautiful and mysterious lights pass while we all pretend to sleep. It’s set in a H P Lovecraft style of world where the scariest of things are seen as the most normal of things. Things change when a beautiful stranger comes to town but you’ll fall in love instantly. Episodes come out the 1st and 15th of each month

Alice Isn’t Dead - This is done by the same company that does Night Vale and it’s a lot darker and creepier. It is about a truck driver who drives around the country trying to find her wife Alice while discovering things about the towns she goes past. A warning if you don’t deal with gore or violence very well (also spoilers) someone does get murdered in the first episode and the main character does get attacked in a later episode. This show is only done by Joseph Fink and his style is a little scary at times but it’s still good. I recommend binge listening to the first season before the second one comes out because it’s a little easier to keep up with the story that way. I prefer Night Vale over Alice but that’s just a personal opinion. Episodes will continue when the next season starts.

Wolf 359 - This is one of my favourite podcasts I have ever listened to. Written by Gabriel Urbina, it’s about Doug Eiffel’s life on the Hephaestus Research Station as they orbit the red dwarf star Wolf 359. This a podcast you’ll want more of and you’ll want to know every single plot twist and theory. The characters are loveable and it just makes me really happy. Renee Minkowski is the station’s commander and she makes sure that her boys stay in check (mostly Eiffel). Dr. Hilbert is honestly a little creepy but you can’t hate him and HERA is my computer wife. Every storyline is great and will only keep you guessing. The website also has other cool stuff such as playlists for the characters which are on spotify and there are small little things that are fantastic. The early seasons are very lighthearted and Zach Valenti (@iamzachvalenti) voices both Doug and Hilbert and it’s just fantastic to listen to. Episodes come out every two weeks.

Limetown - Limetown is very different compared to the other podcasts. It’s a news report that follows a reporter, Lia Haddock, as she tries to find out what happened to an entire town of people that just vanished into thin air. The length of the episodes span under 10 minutes to nearly an hour. It’s interesting but Lia is kinda annoying with her methods of obtaining the information she desires but her intentions are in the right place, despite her actions getting innocent people hurt. The podcast kinda stopped in December last year so it’s real easy to listen to but you will want more which is disappointing since you want to know what happens in the next season. It takes a very realistic turn of events so who knows when the next season comes out. If you like realistic podcasts then this is the one for you

The Bright Sessions - Another personal favourite of mine and I no joke want more right now. The only way I can describe the podcast without spoiling it is X-men go to therapy. It’s an actual pleasure to listen to and it keeps you hooked. Lauren Shippen  (@thelaurenshippen)  has created something thats actually beautiful and has created characters who are relatable in every way. Sam is a time traveller with anxiety, Caleb is a high school student who can feel others emotions, Chloe thinks she’s going insane with the voices of angels then there is a mysterious character who I shall not name. It’s defiantly worth a listen and it’s an A++ podcast. The website also has things that are unique to each person. Sam has a blog, Caleb has instagram and playlists of his own and Chloe has tumblr. This is no joke something I want to make in the future so it’s amazing to me. New episode dates will be released with the new episodes.

King Falls AM - This is like Night Vale but less creepy and more paranormal. The main characters are Sammy “Shotgun” Stevens and Ben Arnold who host a  late night call in show. I can only imagine this like Night Vale because of the similar format but they are completely different. King Falls AM is what Night Vale would be if the town normal and unusual things aren’t normal. The characters are really loveable and I just love them so much. There are people you will love to hate and it definitely makes you feel like you are a citizen of the town which is great. It brings a sense of community to the small fandom. I want to say more but it’s very spoilery so I will say no more. It’s worth the listen to and I recommend binge listening to this one, trust me you’ll want to. New episodes come out the 1st and 15th of each month.

EOS 10 - I’ll admit that I haven’t finished this podcast but I don’t think they’ve made new episodes since last year?????? (it was December so I wasn’t wrong). The story follows Ryan Dalias arriving on EOS 10 to check up on the doctor on the ship who has been going through his share of addiction. From what I’ve listened from this, it’s not bad but not my cup of tea. Scifi podcasts don’t work for me but I still enjoy this quite a bit. Warning if you aren’t interested in hearing people do the frick frack then there is a part of episode 3 that you’ll want to skip because it’s a little uncomfortable. The first two seasons are out and god knows when the next season will be available.

Within the Wires - This is another one done by Night Vale presents. Within the Wires is written by Jeffrey Cranor and the story is based through a series of standard relaxation tapes where you soon realise that yours aren’t standard. The woman on the to the main character and you slowly figure out what that connection is. The tapes themselves are a little creepy but they are sort of relaxing at the same time. Season two may be different and possibly might not be relaxation tapes but that’s the exciting thing about it. I personally prefer this podcast to Alice because I can listen to this and not feel scared when I’m trying to sleep. This one just creeps me out opposed to scaring me so I stay awake. I wouldn’t listen to this before bed though. I recommend to listen to this on a really long road trip because that’s the most comfortable I felt when I heard it. New episodes will come out when the new season does.

ars PARADOXICA - Imagine if you had accidentally created time travel and you find yourself in 1942 in the middle of the second world war. That’s what Sally Grisham does and she soon discovers that her time travel only goes back so she attempts to find a way to go back to her own time which is a little difficult with only technology from the early 40′s. I’ll be honest, I did really like this podcast when I first started it but the last 4 episodes make me question if I actually want to continue it. The latest episode makes me think that I could continue it. They do give warnings about gun violence and terrible things happening to kids which made me super uncomfortable but the warning was nice. New episodes come out the 1st of each month

The Orbiting Human Circus (of the Air) - Yet another Night Vale presents project but it’s not written by Joseph or Jeffrey. The story follows the janitor Juilen as he tries to get into the show without getting caught. The podcast is set on top of the Eiffel tower and the most magical things happen such as a bird who can recreate a whole orchestra perfectly and a machine that can make the thoughts of a cricket come to life. There are only four episodes so far but it’s pretty good so far. The janitor is my favourite and he just shares stories about his life that only make me want to get to know him better which is nice. The french accents also make me really happy. New episodes come out every other Wednesday and I high recommend it.

I don't think people who say we're overreacting about Wonder Woman understand

When you’re a girl, you don’t get to see women be cool, not as often as boys get to see men be cool.

You don’t get to see them fly and fight bad guys and be people you want to BE, do you know what I mean?

Guys get the cool super powers and girls get romance subplots.

Girls with powers are reduced to smaller roles and we have to make up fanfics and extended material that makes them the main character cuz male writers don’t need them for anything but romance plots.

Just look at girls on Tumblr.

Obsessed with white males.

Love em.

Can’t get enough of that white guy named Chris.

Why?

I assume because they’re attractive in every socially constructed way.

And because they get to be the telekinetic, edgy angsty guy whose mom died who deserves all of our sympathy and attention.

So when people say Wonder Woman is a great movie but people are exaggerating how important it is that she be a role model, or that girls should look up to their mothers…

Like you don’t get how cool it is to be able to see someone like you do cool stuff. Your mom is great but she’s mundane, no offense to mothers. She’s not magical, she’s the kind of person you don’t appreciate until you’re older. And she’s not the type of person EVERYONE knows and recognizes and looks up to. Wonder Woman is, well now she really is. And she’s visible, she’s much more tangible, as fictional characters always ARE to mainstream audiences. So little girls get to see this awesome fictional lady…

-and you don’t have to pretend you’re a guy.

You don’t have to pretend that you’re not different from the people we’ve been told are the “desirable” people to be.

Wonder Woman is not only a great movie and a lovely social commentary.

But on a basic level, the more subconscious level of internalized feelings, of self identity and self love ?

I mean, are you a heartless monster or do you really have a problem with girls, and boys too, seeing a woman kick ass and not be the object of desire.

But the person everyone wants to be?

You show girls that they can be awesome, that they have more of a role in human existence than just being shallow love interests and you show boys that there are women they can look up to.

You got this larger than life woman acting as an icon for everyone, and for ONCE, this icon is female. Yes, the human race is represented, and idealized, in super heroes. Who are often male. Which says that our idealized self…is male.

So Wonder Woman being an idealistic superhero, our perfect self, the human shaped being we want to be…well. She’s female and BY WANTING TO BE HER…we say that there is nothing wrong with being female.

And yes yes yes yes argue that they have real life women they could look up to.

But do you really think most little boys want to learn about Madam Curie or Queen Isabella or Antoinette?

That’s boring history stuff.

Wonder Woman reaches a huge audience.

She’s more tangible, for children that is.

She feels more real than stuffy historical figures.

Stop acting like Wonder Woman being a role model is to be underplayed or devalued.

It’s important for people to feel EXCITED and exhilarated by a super hero who’s not a straight white snarky nihilistic male.

It gets their dusty little hearts beating and their minds thinking, hopefully.

Will it change anything politically, no.

Wonder Woman can’t impeach trump unfortunately.

But can it change how girls see themselves, how boys see women, how people look at what it means to be human?

Well maybe.

So TL;DR- shut up. Wonder Woman is amazing. And shame on you for trying to take her away from children, you’re a menace and I need to talk to you, adult to adult.

I bet there are loads of post about this but I just wanted to get this off my chest: Fleur was such a strong female character.

I feel like usually in fiction, female characters are either pink princesses with high heels and glamorous make-up or badasses who, despite identifying as female, don’t act “female” at all. Both of those are cool by the way, don’t get me wrong - but we are lacking characters like Fleur.

She is introduced as the flawless beauty, but nevertheless she is, based on the goblet of fire, most likely of a whole school to win one of the hardest and sometimes death-leading competitions within the whole wizarding world, regardless of gender. (Thanks for fucking that up by the way, movies.)

She shows young girls that they can like fashion and what society calls “girly things” without losing any of their power. She shows young girls that they can throw themselves into a battle while wearing fucking high heels and a princess ball gown.

She shows young girls it’s okay to like the way they look, and it’s okay to openly admit you think you look good.

And most importantly, she shows every stereotyping dumbass that just because you care about your looks, doesn’t mean you only care about looks when it comes to others.

“You thought that I would not weesh to marry him? Or per'aps you hoped? What do I care how he looks? I am good looking enough for both of us, I theenk! All these scars show is zat my husband is brave”

Just because someone is proud of their beauty, doesn’t mean they can’t find beauty behind someone else's scarred face.

You’re still badass if you are a stereotype-y girlish girl. Don’t let anybody tell you anything else.

(She kinda reminds me of Queenie, who acts like the stereotype cute woman but will kill you with that charm if she has to.)

AN: This was a joke so please don’t be too mad.

Someone: Why are you so upset about Kaede?

Me internally: Kaede Akamatsu had the potential to be a fantastic character and a groundbreaking protagonist for the series. From the moment the prologue ends, she successfully united everyone and was able to push them towards an escape route, something no previous protagonist has ever done. Her self-esteem is stable and uplifting unlike previous protagonists like Makoto, Komaru, even Hajime despite the fact his problems weren’t displayed front and center from the beginning by the end we knew how deep they went but Kaede genuinely was a fully self-assured confident protagonist. And it didn’t stop there. When her first plan didn’t work she immediately began working on other ways to escape. But, instead of having a game with an active character leading the scene she gets the fridge for Shuichi. This is bad enough, but it’s even worse seeing how it plays out afterwards. After her death, everyone plays her up as some glorious angel despite the fact that, no matter what her intentions were, she went behind Shuichi, and all of her friends backs and killed an innocent. It would at least be cool to play the idea that Kaede was so driven by her want to save everyone she ended up doing something awful, because that makes her an interesting and multi-layered character, but this fact is never bought center stage and instead the narrative portrays her as some kind of saint, with the only people who kinda call her misdeeds to attention being Angie and Kokichi. After her death, Shuichi constantly thinks, ‘Kaede entrusted me her wish’, ‘Kaede believed in me’, and other such thoughts which really drives home the point that she existed to make him feel sad, and that’s annoying because before she got the axe they had a good dynamic. She was the one who pushed him when he wasn’t feeling up to it, and he was the one who anchored her when she was getting overeccentric. That’s a romance I would be far more willing to see carry a game than having our main character cry over someone who he knew for less than a week. This show of manpain and glorification is at its worst when it’s revealed she was framed by the mastermind at the end, which in addition to letting us in that she was quite literally killed off for no reason, is used as a way to say she’s innocent despite the fact that she still orchestrated, and almost successfuly carried out a murder that could have led to poor Rantarou dead on the floor. Shuichi isn’t a terrible protagonist, but the poor writing for Kaede as nothing more than a plot device for angst, and waifu bait was a heavy dissapointment.

Me externally: I wanted to play as a girl lol

reasons you should watch ok k.o. let’s be heroes:

  • the art style and animation are just???? so fun and so amazing
  • the theme song reminds me of all those dubbed animes they ran as saturday morning cartoons when i was kid, where they translated those theme songs to be about the power of friendship when the original japanese version was about fighting for glory or whatever
  • THE CHARACTER DESIGNS ARE SO IMAGINATIVE. WHERE DO I START.
  • the jokes are actually funny
  • the main character k.o. is the literal definition of “pure cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure”
  • one of the main characters is literally named “rad”
  • rad and enid (k.o.’s coworkers) genuinely value and respect k.o., but still recognize he’s a little kid but not in a patronizing way
  • no one questions the female heroes doing stuff???? there’s been none of that “lol okay that was pretty cool…FOR A GIRL” bullshit
  • k.o. loves his mom a lot and still calls her “mommy”
  • the only romance in the show is the crush mr. gar (k.o.’s boss) has on k.o.’s mom
  • like i’m serious, there’s not even any MENTION of romantic endeavors at all
  • well except if count enid getting nervous when k.o. asked her if she knew a cool girl to which she started stuttering and was like “haha NO but omg she is so COOL i wish”
  • the main setting is a convenience store
  • while the main trio all slack off on their job a lot, they all look up to their boss and really respect him
  • their boss also really respects and likes them all too, and one time even kicked out a customer for giving enid a hard time
  • enid is like. super cool. and no one downplays that AT ALL, even rad who is kinda like her rival at times.
  • in fact, enid breaks a lot of stereotypes in regards to female cartoon characters. she’s not the voice of reason. she’s just as goofy as rad and o.k. she kicks ass and is given credit for that. rad admits it when she does something better than him. k.o. looks up to her just as much as he looks up to rad.
  • rad is your typical muscle-y meathead dude, but he also likes kittens and babysitting and knitting
  • he’s also an alien from another planet
  • no one is mean to k.o. which is, like, refreshing because it’s become like a trend to see older character be mean to younger characters even if they’re “”friends””
  • the main robot villains are just nerds who have a sibling rivalry and try really hard to impress their dad
  • k.o. is exactly 6 to 11 years old
  • so. many. anime references in this show.
  • they even SWITCH ART STYLES at a few points
  • i think there’s an overwatch/junkrat reference too at one point but i don’t know enough about overwatch to confidently say that
  • there’s literally one scene were a villain starts quoting iconic emo songs in his dialogue. he actually said at one point in that scene “wake me up inside”. it was glorious.
  • there’s an entire episode where k.o. becomes friends with a heavily autistic coded character and never says anything bad about their “quirks” or different ways of thinking (in fact, he even says it cools that they can see things in a different way)
  • the character’s name is dendy and they’re also possibly nonbinary because they’re pretty androgynous and none of the characters have used pronouns for them yet
  • the characters all genuinely care about each other
  • the main messages are just your cheesy the-power-of-friendship and kindness-is-the-best-policy and it’s beautiful
  • this show is just feel good and always has a happy end. no drama. no angst. just pure happiness. it’s good for a binge watch if you’re sad or bored.
  • i just watched the entire thing and i need people to talk about it with
  • in conclusion
  • please watch this show
