she played this role so well

fireandiceblr  asked:

What do you think about Sansa's crush on Loras? Do you think it means something that no matter how much she seems to grow as a character she still holds a crush over some pretty knight that never really seemed to care about her and she still imagines him when she kisses people (even if her thoughts get directed back to sandor)

Well… Loras is a very safe crush.

Loras plays the role for Sansa that teen heartthrobs do for many adolescent girls, a safe exploration of their growing sexuality.

The idolization of teen idols typically begins in early adolescence when girls start to become interested in romance and dating and more aware of social norms which suggest that they should have romantic feelings for someone of the opposite sex (Simon, Eder, & Evans, 1992). Rather than dating in real life, developing a crush on a teen idol is a way for girls to acknowledge their emerging sexual feelings in a safe, non-threatening way (Engle & Kasser, 2005). Because teen boys are viewed by girls as only interested in sex (McRobbie, 1991), teen idols are a preferable option. Further, they often project a feminine form of masculinity that is sexually non-threatening and thus accessible to young girls (Engle &: Kasser, 2005; Karniol, 2001; McRobbie, 1991; Sweeney, 1994).

Bitten by Twilight: Youth Culture, Media, & the Vampire Franchise

One of the most popular ways people like to hate teenage girls is to complain about their “insane” crushes on boy band members. Now, let me fucking tell you something: those big dumb crushes are what helps a teenage girl develop her sexuality in a safe environment that she can control. In her world, she can listen to One Direction and hear all these songs about how great she is, and how much these cute non-threatening boys want to make her feel special. Why is this so important? Because no one is pushing them. There’s no fourteen year old boy shoving his clammy hands down your shirt without your consent. These fantasy boys are not convincing a girl to send naked pictures, only to show all their friends and call her a slut. In the fantasy land of boy bands, the girl has all the power. And we need to stop judging them for wanting to escape into that.

–Meghan Harper, “Why I Fucking Love Teenage Girls”

ASOIAF is a medieval-style world, so it of course doesn’t have pop idols and movie stars, but it does have tournaments and tourney champions, who play that role for the adolescent girls of Westeros. (And the boys, too. Consider Bran’s idolization of knights, especially the Kingsguard.) And Loras Tyrell is not just one of the best upcoming stars of the tourney scene, but he’s so dreamy handsome, young, and from one of the best families of Westeros. (Even Robert Baratheon crushes on him, in a manly way.)

Now, the fact that Loras is actually gay (as are so many teen heartthrobs - George Michael, we miss you) makes him even safer, whether Sansa consciously realizes it or not. This is all the more important, since because of the close circles of Westeros aristocracy, Sansa Stark has far more of a chance of personally interacting with Loras Tyrell than your typical teenage girl has with her most beloved Bieber or Zayn.

So when Sansa actually has the opportunity to meet Loras, is even led to believe she might marry him… the expression of her sexuality, while very real, is also very safe:

The sight of Ser Loras Tyrell standing on her threshold made Sansa’s heart beat a little faster.

Sansa was finding it hard to walk and talk and think all at the same time, with Ser Loras touching her arm.

I am talking to him, and he’s touching me, he’s holding my arm and touching me.

Desperately she tried to think of something clever and charming to say to him, but her wits had deserted her. She almost told him how beautiful he was, until she remembered that she’d already done that.

Ser Loras in white silk, so pure, innocent, beautiful. The dimples at the corner of his mouth when he smiled. The sweetness of his laugh, the warmth of his hand. She could only imagine what it would be like to pull up his tunic and caress the smooth skin underneath, to stand on her toes and kiss him, to run her fingers through those thick brown curls and drown in his deep brown eyes. A flush crept up her neck.

–ASOS, Sansa I

Or, for a visual representation:

Now, the trouble (or not?) is that this safe crush of Sansa’s is no longer something she can rely on. Whether it’s because of her aging into womanhood, or because of her actual experiences with sexuality – the dark masculine danger of Sandor Clegane, her marriage to Tyrion Lannister (including seeing him nude and sleeping next to him in bed for weeks), the explicit rape threats of Joffrey Baratheon and Marillion, the disturbing attentions and unfatherly kisses of Petyr Baelish – when she wishes to escape into her formerly favorite safe fantasy of Loras Tyrell, it twists away from her into something else:

Before she could summon the servants, however, Sweetrobin threw his skinny arms around her and kissed her. It was a little boy’s kiss, and clumsy. Everything Robert Arryn did was clumsy. If I close my eyes I can pretend he is the Knight of Flowers. Ser Loras had given Sansa Stark a red rose once, but he had never kissed her… and no Tyrell would ever kiss Alayne Stone. Pretty as she was, she had been born on the wrong side of the blanket.
As the boy’s lips touched her own she found herself thinking of another kiss. She could still remember how it felt, when his cruel mouth pressed down on her own. He had come to Sansa in the darkness as green fire filled the sky. He took a song and a kiss, and left me nothing but a bloody cloak.

–AFFC, Alayne II

Note that there are many analyses of “the unkiss” (link 1, link 2), Sansa’s imagined memory of being kissed by Sandor the night of the Blackwater, but what many point out is that it is again an attempt by Sansa of a safe fantasy, a subconscious attempt to control and understand and romanticize a frightening sexually-charged situation. It’s just several octaves away from her non-threatening fantasies of kissing and touching the “beautiful” Loras.

And though you say Sansa still holds this crush, please note that Loras is only mentioned in Sansa’s narrative once in AFFC (that scene above), where she recognizes that Loras’s attentions were nothing real, no kisses, just a rose. Also, when she thinks about the men who helped her in King’s Landing, Loras is not one of them. Furthermore, he’s not mentioned at all in her TWOW preview chapter – which, considering it focuses on an upcoming tourney and the young knights who wish to be its champions, should be a perfect occasion for the pretty knight Loras to stroll through Sansa’s head, and yet he does not.

So I would say that Sansa’s adolescent crush on Loras is something perfectly understandable… and also something she has outgrown. I hope that helps!

  • Me: Yeah, I think Keyleth is alright. Maybe not the best, but she fits into the group well.
  • CR fans: Keyleth is so annoying. She's only there because she's Matt's girlfriend. She causes all the problems in the game and she's such a harpy. I wish she left instead of Tiberius.
  • Me: KEYLETH is literally the best character in critical role, she consistently challenges the group morally to be good and just people, and without her, vox machina would've been just another reckless mercenary group, she has the biggest heart and she cares the most about everyone and she's always thinking about the bright side and she's hilariously awkward and she literally has some of the most creative and effective ideas when it comes to combat encounters, ok, look, keyleth is LITERALLY the best character

I thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s episode, it was so damn good. Black Siren was glorious (KC plays that role really, really well) and the brotp feels between the DA and Diggle got me, and Oliver going to bat for Diggle and then the Curtis and Rene feels and holy god the entire team feels so much better without Evelyn there (it’s not even because of how she was acting, it’s a balance thing, it felt so much more organic vs. 5A) and then…

AND THEN

The Olicity.

It was beautiful. They challenged each other, they fought, they worked through issues, they saw each other’s side, they worked to stay on the same level, they were friends and partners and ex-lovers all in the same breath and holy mother of god this is the Olicity we deserve. (And I loved that Oliver was there for her every step of the way, and not just as one part of himself - he protected her as both Oliver Queen and the Green Arrow. Balance. Beautiful balance and a beginning step towards all the wonderful things not only they can be, but what Oliver can be! I’m enjoying his newfound optimism new, Felicity, so much.)

But really, Felicity won for me tonight. EBR slayed it. She was fierce and ferocious but so calm and composed and raw and vulnerable and angry and righteous and I am so excited that we’re finally getting to see some of what EBR can accomplish in this role. The way she talked to Oliver when she challenged him about Laurel vs. Black Siren gave me chills.

She was awe-inspiring and I’m so ready for what’s coming!

I’m also very much enjoying the strong badass female vibe from tonight’s episode. I’m enjoying it immensely. Felicity Smoak in all her badassness, Black Siren in all her evilness, Talia in all her… well, I squee’d when he looked up and saw an archer because TALIA and then this new Black Canary… (that’s Tina, right? Or is that the detective or both or… I’ve clearly been paying attention to spoilers.)

All in all, a wonderful episode, I’m gonna go throw giddiness all over the place.

“It’s hard to accept being a role model for women when you’re trying to lose weight. I’ve always discovered the heart of my characters by asking, ‘Why?’ You know, when I was handed Annalise Keating, I said, ‘She’s sexy, she’s mysterious.’ I’m used to playing women who gotta gain 40 pounds and wear an apron. So, I said, ‘Oh god, I gotta lose weight. I gotta learn to walk like Kerry Washington in heels. I gotta lose my belly.’ And then I asked myself, ‘Well, why do I have to do all that?’ I truly believe that the privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. I just recently embraced that at 51. At 10:00 every Thursday night … you come into my world and you sit with me, my size, my hue, my age, and you sit and you experience, and I think that’s the only power I have as an artist, so I thank you for this award and I do see her — just like I see me. ”

“Come on, throw a guy a bone.” Dean rolls his eyes and inspects his cheeseburger. “Never in my life did I think my little brother would be getting laid more than I do.”

“Well, an actual relationship helps out my stats. Where you wanna go tonight? ” Sam forks his grilled chicken, hoping to get Dean off topic.

It doesn’t work.

“You will not distract me from the matter at hand.” Dean wags a finger at his brother, “So spill it, come on. Is she feisty? Into anything kinky? She looks like she’d be into a little role playing-”

“Dean!” Sam nearly chokes on his food. Last week you came across his old priest get up. You made him wear it and some very naughty ‘confession’ followed.

Dean doesn’t need to know that.

“Maybe a little spanking?” Dean makes a little butt slapping gesture with his hand.

When Sam even thinks about your round little bottom his face turns red. He runs a hand through his hair, mildly embarrassed. He can’t help it…he does love your ass.

“Her ass…” Sam sighs and looks away from Dean with a shit-eating grin plastered across his face. “Her ass is top shelf.”

“Sammy!” Dean pounds a fist on the table, “Now we’re getting somewhere!”

Still playing around with text bubbles. This is sort of an experimental comic anyway so that’s alright, though I screwed up within this comic and started off with Leia having different text bubbles than she had in later pages. Oh well!

Speaking of Leia… Leia is here! I love her and think (hope) she plays a really important role in the next two movies. I see people talk about whether or not she’d forgive Ben for being a complete asshole, and I believe Leia would. Not easily, though. I think she’s the first person he’d ever have to answer to because, despite what happened, they love each other very much. But that’s the thing about love, especially between parent and child: it’s complicated. But Leia clearly wants her baby back (because no matter what he does, Ben’s still her baby). And the bond between mother and child is a strong part of myths and fairy tales. Leia’s the biggest reason I don’t want Ben/Kylo Ren to die: I want her to get her baby back.

Also, Bloodlines is a really good Leia-centric book. Like, really good. She’s so cool in it.

Jealousy

Request: Requested by anonymous: Request An Anthony one where they were in the play 21 chump street and she was chosen to play Maria/ Peggy in hamilton.

Lin had always kept in close touch with you since you starred in 21 Chump Street, so getting a call from him wasn’t out of the blue.

“Hey!” You picked up the phone cheerily.

“Hey, so I’ve been working on something.” Lin started, and a smile made its way onto your face.

“Yeah?” You urged him to continue, taking a seat on your bed.

“Well, I was wondering if you could play a dual role in the new musical I’m writing?” Lin offered, and you didn’t hesitate.

“Yes, of course! What is it about?” You questioned, confused by the hesitant response.

“It’s… A rap musical about Alexander Hamilton…?” You burst out laughing.

“I’m in.”

You walked into work, greeted immediately by Lin.

“Hey, Y/N! So, your dressing room is right down there-” He pointed down a hallway, indicating a series of doors. “And I have to go set things up so I have to bounce but you know what to do, ok bye!” He ran off, having a short conversation with someone. He looked familiar, but you couldn’t put your finger on it. Lin pointed to you, causing the man to direct his attention in your direction, and everything clicked.

Anthony Ramos.

Lin nonchalantly walked over, Anthony close behind. “You remember Anthony right? From 21 Chump Street?” You nodded, unable to take your eyes off of him.

“Yeah, hi.” You held out your hand, which he shook.

“Alright, I’ll leave you two since I really do have to go now!” Lin laughed, running off.

“I should go, too. Get ready and stuff.” Anthony muttered, walking in the direction of his dressing room. You stood there for a moment, staring after him as you tried to think.

You were helpless.

You shook yourself out of your thoughts, starting towards your own dressing room. You passed Renee, giving her a cheerful wave when you saw her. You tried not to think about Anthony, but you found how easily he would occupy your thoughts.

You walked onstage, giving a nervous glance towards Phillipa before getting into your position. You stood at the back of the stage, in a shadow, as Helpless started. Renee ran up to you, exchanging a fake conversation as Peggy and Angelica.

You went through the rest of the song, dancing with Anthony a bit. As you raced offstage after Satisfied, Phillipa caught your arm.

“What was that?” She asked.

“What do you mean?” You returned her confused look, facing her.

“You and Ant!” She squealed, causing you to blush. Was it really that obvious?

“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You stuttered, moving out of the way of passing people.

“Ok, there’s definitely some sexual tension there. Did something happen?” Your face heated up considerably.

“No! We met in a play and I just know him… Nothing happened.” You stated, trying to end the conversation.

“But there was so much tension!” Phillipa persisted.

“Shut up.” You hissed, leading her away, towards the dressing rooms.

“Oh my god, you have a crush!” She sang. You nudged her lightly, listening as Story of Tonight Reprise ended. Phillipa ran off, undoubtedly going to tell Renee about it.

You spotted Anthony, who was already on his way towards you.

“Hey.” He smiled.

“Hey. Uh, it’s been a while, how have you been?” You asked, rubbing the back of your neck.

“It’s been good, you?” He walked beside you into your dressing room, each taking a seat on the small couch.

“I’ve been good.” A deafening silence filled the room, the two of you avoided the other’s gaze.

“Well, I guess I have to get going again. Stay Alive and all that.” Anthony stood again, leaving you alone in the room.

You looked in the mirror, adjusting your dress. You sighed deeply, turning to go onstage.

You could hear Take A Break end, and as Anthony walked offstage Phillipa gave you a knowing look. You simply shrugged it off, walking on to do your part.

“Hey, Renee? Have you seen Anthony, I haven’t seen him since after Take A Break yesterday.” You asked, running to catch up to the woman. She turned to you, confused.

“I thought something happened between the two of you, he seemed sort of angry I thought you’d know. Y’know, considering…” Renee grinned, hitting you playfully. You shook it off, concerned. Did you do something wrong?

“No, no, nothing happened.” You exclaimed, waving goodbye and walking to your dressing room. You saw Anthony walk by swiftly, and you ran after him.

“Y/N?” He was confused, but held a firm look.

“I’ve been looking for you; Renee said you were angry about something. What happened?” You thought you were being kind, but he shrugged you off.

“I’m fine, Y/N. I gotta go get ready.” You sighed, frustrated.

“What did I do?” You persisted, pleading.

“Nothing!” He yelled suddenly. “It’s just… You and Lin…”

“Anthony. He’s married. And I’m into you-” You gasped, clasping your hand over your mouth.

“You’re- what?” He faced you, surprised.

“I’m… Well…” You muttered, dropping your hand to your side.

“I’m into you, too, Y/N. Why do you think I was so jealous during Say No To This?” He laughed, stepping towards you. A blush crept onto your cheek as you leaned towards him.

“Hey guys, stop making out in the hallway and get your costumes on! Places will be called soon!” Lin’s voce rang out, causing the two of you to jump back.

“Dammit Lin.”

Not a princess but a Knight

The first time I really realized that I didn’t want to be seen as a girl was back in grade four drama class when we were readying for our year-end production…that year it was The 12 Dancing Princesses.  I always dressed in boy clothing, cut my hair as short as my parents let me, was into traditionally masculine things, but it was during this time that I really realized how badly I felt being seen as a girl.

My teacher had assigned me the role as one of the princesses and I asked if I could be a knight instead (because come on, knights are awesome).  She told me that all the girls were to play the girls and that the guys would play the guys…that didn’t go over well with me.  I begged and pleaded, not wanting to be stuck in a dress that would no doubt make me feel uncomfortable and sick…but she didn’t listen.

Honestly, I wanted to brush off being trans for so long by hiding behind the label of genderfluid, but it just wasn’t right.  Now I have to deal with being a strong believer in God that wants to be the man that I believe he intended to be when everyone in my family; nearly everyone I know, says it is sinful and wrong.

You tell me what’s sinful here: forcing that little kid to wear that dress; to be forced by society to be a ‘proper young lady’, or letting that little kid be who they want to be.  I’m still that kid…I’m still being forced into that role of a princess when I am a knight…now go on and tell me how being who I am is sinful.

You may have noticed that I haven’t talked about Eliza Dushku, the lead. Now I LOVE Eliza Dushku. I’m more than a little bit obsessed with Faith Lehane. But she is not the high point of this show. If only because the other actors are SO DAMN GOOD.

Things you should know before getting into this show:

It starts slowly. FOX wanted them to make the first several episodes pilots, so you go over the same things over and over. By the time you get to episode 6 things really start moving.

For the second season, they knew they were going to be cancelled, so they shoved several seasons of material into one. The result is a wild, wild ride.

I’d put a trigger warning for rape on the whole show.

So in a previous interview Nia already mentioned she would be in a movie called “Dancer”. But I think she didn’t know what role she would be playing yet. So as you see the casting director went to the competition to tell her the good news. (Probably also for some DM drama shananigans)
As you see Willdabeast will be either in the movie as well or will be a choreographer for the movie. Other people involved are “Jordan Fisher” and “Janelle Ginestra”

Orihime > Hinata

My favorite ship is IchiRuki and my favorite female character is Rukia. But I have great respect towards Orihime as a character. In my opinion, she is not just pretty face, she’s one of the most important characters in the series, while Ichigo and Rukia is definitely the main. Despite of the fact that Orihime has so much haters, Kubo never stop to make her play important roles and don’t give a damn to the haters who wanted him to lessen Orihime’s part in the series.

In Naruto, Kishi actually lessen Sakura’s story and even decided to not include her family background just because she wasn’t well accepted when she was first introduced. Eventhough he really wanted to, he followed the editor’s order instead of convincing them that Sakura worth some more spotlight as heroine.

Kubo simply made her female characters have amazing roles, both Rukia and Orihime. I didn’t like Orihime at first, I was one of those fans who wanted Kubo to show more of Rukia than Orihime. But because Kubo continued to include Orihime in every arc, I grew to like her little by little and it didn’t surprised me as much as NH, when IH became canon, although I was a bit disappointed of course, because IchiRuki will always be my favorite (The Black Sun and The White Moon poetry will forever remain in my heart!!).

Orihime was always there in every arc, while Hinata only appeared in 15 chapters out of 700. And all she did when she appeared is admiring Naruto and unable to talk to him properly.

It’s really different with Orihime who even hung out with Ichigo when they don’t have to fight hollows, and this is in the canon manga, not fillers anime episodes. And moreover, Orihime has something else to think other than “Kurosaki-kun”, unlike Hinata whose life and story are basically only revolves around Naruto.

Orihime awakened her power to protect Tatsuki, while Hinata only wanted to be noticed by Naruto. She lacks the willpower to win too and once she was lost, she didn’t push herself to limit to fight, unlike Sakura and Rukia and even Orihime when they have to fight and protect their loved ones.

Orihime understands Ichigo’s will not to interfere his fight even when she’s willing to help, she knows her own capability and decided to believe in Ichigo, while Hinata selfishly jump into the scene, knowing that she had no chance to win, without even thinking about Naruto’s feeling if he witnessed a possible death of his comrade.

I don’t understand when people compared Orihime to Hinata when they are completely different in personalities. The only common thing about them is their big breasts. Orihime becomes one of Ichigo’s important friends and she could be herself around him while all Hinata did is fainted or run away when Naruto appeared. She still do that even in The Last.

Orihime didn’t and even insisted to go home by herself when Ichigo offered to walk him home, while Hinata disappointed and depressed when Naruto said she could go home by herself because she’s strong. I get it, she wanted Naruto to accompany her a little bit, but what did she expect? At that point, Naruto hasn’t fell in love with her and he’s basically dumb, he doesn’t understand how to treat woman. She should have understand that side about Naruto instead of being depressed.

They are completely different and in so many aspects, and in my opinion, Orihime is much better than Hinata. Hinata’s one and only goal is to be noticed by Naruto while Orihime has real and many dreams, one of them is having her own cake shop and being able to do many things, but Ichigo is one of her precious dreams, which she decided to let go for the sake of other people’s safety.

I had hard time to accept NH and I probably will never be able to see NH as couple even when they become canon, they just felt so awkward because Kishi’s lack of interest in writing more of them, and Hinata’s obsession towards Naruto is really too much, she couldn’t think of anything else except Naruto, even in the war, she was willing to fight so she can be closer with Naruto. While with IH, I don’t really have to look for reasons to accept them because the development is there, in the canon materials, not filler episodes.

I believe that Ichigo and Rukia are soulmates, they have their own poems and Kubo stated that he can’t draw one without the other. But Orihime and Renji played important roles in their lives, not just as someone who admired them, but do something real to protect them and have real friendship with them, it is easier to accept them together.

I just wish Kishi would at least give Hinata proper development as a character instead of making her all “Naruto-kun”. I like Hinata in pre-shipuden, I even shipped them a little and posted some of NH arts in pre-shippuden. But Kishi really downgraded her character by making him all Naruto-kun even in the critical moments like The 4th Ninja war. If Kishi really did plan NH to happen since the middle of series, he should have put Hinata more around Naruto and develop their friendship, therefore it wouldn’t be much of a surprise. Maybe that way, I could have liked her a little bit more.

THE MYSTERIOUS GIRL

When the short trailer from the SCEJA Press Conference 2015 showed us a short preview for the new DANGANRONPA game “NDRV3″, we saw this image of a girl for a very short moment.

Now, while I´m pretty sure that people already talked about this, I just still wanted to say something about it myself.

Okay, so…

I assume that the girl we´re seeing here is Chiaki Nanami, because of the way her uniform looks.

Or well, rather because of what she´s wearing under the uniform.

Both have long sleeves covering large parts of their hands.

All the other girls, including young Chisa, don´t have that.

I have no idea what role she´s going to play in the game though, and why she was in the trailer…

Well, of course I tried to theorize a bit, but I don´t really have anything worth talking about yet….

But one more thing…

Dunno if that mean anything, just noticed that.

anonymous asked:

So this is probably crack and all but i'm thinking about modern au where no one's evil and eren finally introduces mikasa to zeke. he refrained to do it before cause zeke is the kind of brother who just /can't/ keep his mouth shut lol

Well, nonnie pie, you came to the right person!

I have thought about what kind of role Zeke would play in Eren’s life in Modern AUs, and this can go several ways tbh! Let’s say, maybe, before Grisha met Carla there was Dina: his high school love. Right? So on their prom night they do the do and Dina discovers she’s pregnant but she never tells Grisha because A) They’re going to college on opposite sides of the country and B) They are broken up by this point.

And maybe Grisha meets Carla in college. Bada bing, bada boom, Eren is born four years later after Carla graduates ( meanwhile Grisha is still going for his doctorate, so naturally he’s gonna be in school longer ). Everything is peaches and cream.

Uuuntil Zeke turns 18 and Dina can’t stop her son from looking for his biological father, who has been absent all his life and knows nothing of his existence. By then, Eren is around 14 years old, so their age difference is cut a lot shorter than their canon counterparts.

So you can imagine Eren’s confusion when he answers the door one day and finds this dude who oddly resembles his own dad. There’s an automatic connection the day they meet, but Zeke is more aware of it than Eren is. Being more of the think-before-you-speak one of the two, Zeke is a bundle of emotions that explode when Grisha intervenes with an oblivious and patient, “Can I help you, son?”

Zeke replies, “Yeah, yeah you can…father.

Aaaand cue Carla dropping a glass in the kitchen.

Meanwhile Eren’s all, “Who the hell is this kid and why is he calling you father?” Yeah. The fourteen year old referring to the eighteen year old as a kid. But he doesn’t say this out loud. He’s actually too busy racing back to the kitchen to help Carla because instinct, y’know?

As for Mikasa…

Just want to take a moment to brag about my friend who DMed her first game of D&D last night.
She had such a mismatch group of PCs who all wanted something a little different out of the one off. She managed us so well, making sure that everyone got fair time and didn’t miss out on parts of the game because someone tried to do everything first. Her NPCs were great, environmental descriptions were clear, and despite her lack of confidence really stood up when she got challenged on calls.

She was everything I hope first time DMs will be. She was great.

This beautiful comment from a Youtube user describes pretty well why Luna is NOT weak and Stella wasn’t a “better” and “stronger” heroine than her:

(Note: This is not meant to bash Stella, but I’m annoyed that so many fans use her to put Luna down):

“Found this somewhere-Stella’s role is a literally forced antagonist against Noctis. In other words, Stella was never an active nor independent force. She was forced to play her part in everything. Unwilling. That is the kind of role Nomura described for her. Luna on other hand is a heroine who refused to bend to the Empire’s will and instead got used as a decoy because she refused to become a pawn in their game. That’s independence. Choosing to do what she believed to be right at her own expense, freedom, and safety. Ravus conformed, Luna refused. Stella was made into their pawn, Luna told them no. Stella has never once shown any independence of her own and her Somnus painting conversation had her acting as basically a fangirl to Noctis. You are reading Stella as you wanted her rather than what she was. Also, Luna was both active and independent - a lot of actions that Nyx took was because she forced him into situations - not just the kidnapping but other actions such as forcing him to return to King Regis and getting off when she wanted to. She ended up being the one to push Nyx to leave Glauca after you know what happens when he wanted to fight then and there. It was she who told Nyx what he needed to here about his sister that changed his mindset from “trapped in the past” to “shape the future” instead. And it was she who in the end decided to walk away from Insomnia. She manipulated the traitor to set himself on fire and took the ring off his hand as he fell off the raftors. It was she who told her brother off for his stupid hatred towards Regis and conforming to Niffleheim. She chose to remain in Insomnia for Noctis’s safety and she chose to return to Regis to get the ring. She might have not been able to fly an airship but she attempted to anyway. She could not drive and never had to, but took the wheel both times when told to without second thought. Nyx might have taken the ring but she tried to wear it first despite actually knowing the full consquences. That is Luna. She didn’t pull out a rapier or allowed herself to be manipulated into an enemy. She made a conviction and despite the world turning against her, she pushed herself forward to see it done. Throughout the entire movie, she kept her eyes forward.‘ Luna was and is a strong, active, independent woman.”
