she makes decisions when she's with him

Problematic Hogwarts House

Okay so speaking of the check please hogwarts house discourse… I voted and all my votes for characters were the ones that literally NO ONE voted for so I present to you…

MY VOTES

Bitty - Hufflepuff. He’s a hufflepuff it’s close to the kitchen. A particular good finder

Jack Zimmermann - Ravenclaw. Very good studier and planner. Everyone hates him because he never leaves the study table because he’s absolutely determined to master his class.

Shitty - Hufflepuff. Also Bitty’s self-proclaimed advisor. He watches over him and eats his cookies when he’s stoned and it’s a beautiful symbiotic relationship.

Lardo - Slytherin. She just seemed like the type to make decisions like a Slytherin. She’s just a happy Slytherin who takes care of her fellow Slytherins. Everyone owes her a favor. Basically rules her house.

Ransom - Ravenclaw. I was gonna say that he’s the guy that pulls Jack out of the study, but in all actuality he’s the guy that Jack looks over and sees while Ransom is mid-breakdown and is like “… maybe I should take a break. Maybe he should too…”

Holster - Gryffindor. Super great guy that gets up to a lot of shenanigans. No one wants to be subjected to his pranks they just want to be his friend but it comes at a price.

Chowder - Gryffindor. One of Holster’s friends and also joins in on some of mhis shenanigans. They’re great buds and hang out all the time. Chowder and him were drunk once and kissed but refuse to bring it up again and no one else knows. Just a couple of guys who got drunk. Still great buds though.

Nursey - Slytherin. Reviews Lardo’s papers for her because she helped him out when he was drunk from making dumb decisions and ruining his life or dying. They’re pretty chill together.

Dex - I had no clue what to put him in honestly so I put him in Gryffindor because it matched his aesthetic. Everyone assumes he’s from the Wesley family but then they hear him gripe about coming from the muggle world and know that isn’t true. Everyone then just thinks adoption because he HAS to be a Wesley. No one believes him when he says he isn’t.

Initial Thoughts: Tiger Philanthropist

This episode marked a change in the way the story in SU would be progressing from now on. Many times it’s been pointed out how the Gems are ill-equipped to be Steven’s caretakers, and how usually, they themselves are the ones for whom Steven needs to put his own needs aside.

The Gems have deep personal issues that they refused to acknowledge for a very long time, centuries in fact. Their suddenly being guardians of a teenage boy was not going to make those things go away. So early Steven spent a lot of time being ignored and left behind. It’s a fact he brings up in Rocknaldo. While we’ve been analysing it and pointing it out, it’s more than clear that Steven has been aware of it himself.

As the Gems engaged with him more, he found himself in the middle of meltdowns, arguments, and panic attacks. And we’ve seen how having to put aside how he feels has worn him down and given him issues of his own, about never being a good enough Crystal Gem, and never matching up to Rose.

These feelings culminated in the latest Steven Bomb (Bomb 5), when Steven decides to put his feelings first and refuse to listen to the Gems, instead seeking out Blue Diamond. What he realises is that doing to Greg and the Gems exactly what the Gems did to him was not going to make things better.

But I think it was a wake-up call for the senior Crystal Gems as well. Their becoming more accommodating of Steven has been a long, slow process. In this episode, Steven actually feels comfortable enough to tell Amethyst how he felt about wrestling, that he disagreed with her decision to quit, or at least the way she quit.

And that’s something relatively new, because Steven doesn’t often talk about how he feels when he’s with the Gems. Instead of making light of it, Amethyst engages him on the same level. She tells him about wrestling’s personal relevance to her at a particular stage in her life.

When Steven goes back to the ring, we expect he can take down human beings easily. When Amethyst appears, we know it’s not to save the day. That is how much our expectations of the characters changed. It’s a far cry from season one in which we believed Steven couldn’t defend himself.

Contrast to episodes like Joking Victim, Amethyst didn’t just stand by and let things happen. She washed her hands of wrestling but went back because part of her knew Steven had unfinished business. And she put aside her own desire to quit so that Steven could have closure.

I would say they end the match on their terms, together. Wrestling was never about feeling like he was good enough. His reason for doing it was to spend time with Amethyst. He was hurt because she decided on quitting without telling him, as if those memories didn’t matter.

In a turn of events, it is Amethyst, not Steven, who makes the speech that says exactly those things. In what I hope becomes a more common occurrence, someone who cares about Steven pre-empts how he feels instead of his having to do it the other way around all the time.

What Amethyst gave him was assurance that the memories he treasured of their being together meant something to her too. And it implied that finding something else to do was always going to be an option. Wrestling had gone stale for them, but their relationship did not.

I’m glad this kind of shift occurred in a daily life type of episode. It is small acts that people decide to do every day that make them who they are. Becoming a totally different person in a dangerous or extreme moment loses the meaning of the act if only because the change is not as organic and nothing sustains it after the adrenaline fades.

I hope that this shift continues on. It was one thing to begin to care about Steven, but I find it significant that the Gems are also learning how to care about Steven, because it does make a difference.

13 Reasons Why

Thoughts on 13 Reasons Why characters and a rating of how much I dislike them from 1 being “my baby!!!!” to 10 being “FUCK THEM THEY CAN ROT”

Hannah Baker: Didn’t deserve everything she went through especially rape. She pushed some people away though and sometimes she was kind of idk how to word it but I didn’t like stuff about her at times. Either way she deserved so much better than what she got. Deserved to be happy with Clay. 2/10.

Clay Jensen: Will fight anyone for Hannah. He was so shy around her and didn’t know what to do whenever he was with her, he’s so precious. Sometimes there were some things he did that didn’t sit right with me but he definitely deserved a happy ending with Hannah Baker; they deserved to be happy and in love and ugh. Also… took like 4823707592 years to listen to the tapes? 2/10.

Tony Padilla: Gay POC which I love because we need more of them. I love him he was so patient with Clay and all he ever did was try and protect Hannah’s wishes. Glad he shared the tapes with Hannah’s parents because they deserved to know why she killed herself instead of being left in the dust wondering why. I was always so happy when he came on screen. CLAY LISTEN TO THE GODDAMN TAPES. 1/10.

Jeff Atkins: My pure cinnamon roll, didn’t deserve to die because of a stupid girl who couldn’t own up to her mistakes. I hate how nobody including his parents and except Clay never knew he wasn’t drunk that night he died. Just wanted Clay and Hannah together. Your fave is problematic: uses “unique” 7 times in an essay. -5435973495797/10. I love him forever, hes so great. Never did anything bad.

Justin Foley: Didn’t deserve the home life he had BUT i really hated him for what he did to Hannah and the fact that he’s a rape enabler and a rape apologist like he literally let his best friend rape his unconscious girlfriend, covered up for him, and lied to her about it and then when she found out, he STILL was justifying what he and Bryce did by telling her that he didn’t tell anyone because Bryce does all this shit for him. KNEW that whatever happened at that party was fucking Jessica up but didn’t come forward until the very end. Claims he cared for her but you don’t do that shit to someone you claim you care about. Fuck him for that. 8/10.

Jessica Davis: She was so cool and nice in the beginning but then I hated how she got mad at Hannah and slapped her for the list instead of Alex, like really??? You think she asked to be on that list?? PLEASE. But after all that, she was still nice towards her and was never ill-mannered when it came to Hannah. Also, can we talk about how she didn’t deserve to be raped??? Justin Foley DEFINITELY didn’t deserve her. YOU GO GIRL. TELL HIM YOU NEVER WANT TO SEE HIM AGAIN. 5/10.

Alex Standall: He made some poor decisions making that list for a stupid reason and then letting Hannah pay the price. I somewhat like him though. I think he was a redeemable character and had a conscience (although it was too late, rip Hannah Baker) and felt that he needed to own up to it and tell the truth, was ready for whatever penalty he was gonna get. Was the only one (for a while) who thought what the others were trying to do was stupid. He definitely deserved better too, he didn’t deserve to shoot himself (or in other theories, didn’t deserve to be shot by Tyler). Please be okay…please be alive, baby. 4/10.

Courtney Crimsen: GIRL, BYE. I hate and will always hate her character so much. Her and Bryce should just rot. She was a rape apologist and only cared about herself. Like girl I get that coming out is hard, I haven’t even done it, but to fuck up Hannah’s life like that? Are you serious? Justified Bryce’s actions to hide her truth. And she fucked up Jessica’s life too, in my opinion. She tried so hard to convince herself (and others) that Hannah was lying, Bryce isn’t a rapist, and that Jessica was never raped just so she can stay in the fucking closet. Like there’s nothing wrong with being gay. And she has two gay dads for fucks sake. 10/10 would always hate her again.

Zach Dempsey: I think he genuinely liked Hannah but after all the shit Hannah had been through and the fact that his friends were his friends, I definitely see Hannah’s side of why she shot him down. I think he, himself, was lonely too but in different way; just because someone’s popular doesn’t mean they’re not lonely. Didn’t get compliments so he stole Hanah’s when she needed it most (I hate how he did that ugh like WHY…did you really need it?). Redeemable character, though. Also…HE KEPT HANNAH’S NOTE IN HIS WALLET!!! 5/10.

Tyler Down: Fuck him. A fucking creep. Like, he stalked people and took pictures of them when they were unaware (especially Hannah) and when she confronted him, HE FUCKING SENT THE PICTURE TO EVERYONE. Claims he “loved” Hannah but really?? FUCK HIM. Why did he even have so much guns? I’m pretty sure he’s planning a school shooting…fucking psychopath…”I can take care of myself” BOY BYE. And if he did shoot Alex, FUCK HIM EVEN MORE. 9/10.

Ryan Shaver: Didn’t respect Hannah’s wishes. Only cared about himself and poetry. Didn’t even care that Hannah didn’t want her shit to get out. I only liked him whenever he said Bryce is a rapist and that Courtney should just shut the fuck up and stop justifying Bryce’s actions. 8/10.

Marcus Cole: He cared more about himself and his reputation more than anyone. Thought he was the shit. Sexually assaulted Hannah then called her easy for refusing. 9/10.

Sheri: I liked her and she was genuinely nice but she crashed the stop sign and left a drunken Hannah at the scene and fled. Caused Jeff to die and I hate her for it. Though she reported it because she knew it was the right thing to do, it was already waaay too late. 6/10 because of Jeff.

Bryce: Rapist. Douchebag. Scum of the earth. He didn’t even think what he did was wrong. He raped two fucking girls and didn’t even feel remorse. He just thought every girl wanted him and that was that. I hate him so much, he can die. 102804802020x100000/10.

Mr. Porter: Could have tried better to stop Hannah from killing herself. She was set on suicide until she had doubts and needed just one person to help her and the one person she came to didn’t care enough to chase after her when she left his room that day. Worst. Guidance Counselor. Ever. 8/10.

okay, so. the thing that kills me about Wonder Woman is that it’s so, so absurdist, and in the best way. all of the characters except diana go into the entire thing knowing that the war might never end, that the people in charge of their armies don’t give a flying fuck about what happens to the people on the ground, that everything they do might not even matter in the long run. steve even says when he’s on themyscira that it seems like the world’s going to end.

one of the most famous lines by camus (who was an absurdist) is “in the middle of winter i at last discovered that there was in me an invincible summer.” the entire point of absurdism is staring into the void and saying, “no, i refuse.” the world is empty and bleak and meaningless, and you could choose to be nihilist about that, or you could pick yourself up and create the meaning you want to see. and that’s what all of the characters in wonder woman do.

when he gets in that plane steve knows, he knows, that they still might not win the war. he knows diana might not be able to kill ares. he knows dr. poison might still escape. he knows that people are still going to die. and you know what? he gets in the plane anyway. he stares into the face of a war that might never end and says, well, i can save today. and that is what matters.

sam and chief and charlie watch their friend run toward a plane and know he’s on a suicide mission (that might not even save the war!) and they yell to stop him at first and then they cover him like he asked them to because even when they hate it, they respect his ability to make his own decisions and they hold up their end of the deal. they risk their lives helping him risk his because it’s what they signed up to. it’s what they should do.

when diana leaves themyscira, she knows she might not live to come back. sure, her character is driven by a kind of relentless optimism, but it’s a chosen optimism, not a naive one. she might die, but she’ll be damned if she dies doing anything other than what is just, what is her duty as an amazon. her mother says, “what if you never come back?” and diana’s reply is, “who will i be if i stay?”

when steve’s on the plane and it looks like they’re all about to die, all sam and chief and charlie do is they lean in to each other. yeah, the world’s ending, so what are we gonna do? we’re gonna spend those last moments with each other. we’re gonna close our eyes and know that we did all that we could and even if it ends up doing nothing to affect the war as a whole, well, at least we did something.

there’s a story from the holocaust about a group of jews reciting prayers when one stops and says “why are we doing this? we’re about to die. only a madman would say these prayers now.” and the rabbi looks at him and quietly says, “our enemies have taken everything from us, but they cannot take our freedom to say these prayers. we must live as free men temporarily in captivity. that, if necessary, is how we will die.”

the characters in wonder woman push on even when they think it might be pointless, because that is the point. absurdism is about accepting that maybe you’ll never be able to make everything right, you might not even be able to make everything okay, but you can always do something. you can walk into the unending darkness, hold up a lighter, flick it on and say, “i win.” and in doing so, you will have won.

Sisters in the snow

posted by reddit user MCDexX

I remember it like it was yesterday, although it was decades ago.

My sister and I had been fighting again, like we did so often, like I suspect most sisters do at that age.

This fight got more heated than usual. I screamed an obscenity at my sister before turning to storm out of the room, but then my neck suddenly whipped back painfully and I realised she was yanking my hair. In pain and shock, I spun around and slapped her hard across the face.

Why Rita chose Trini

So I watched the movie again and even though Rita says she chose Trini because she was the outsider, I think part of it was because Trini was the one who would actually see reason. Trini is obviously the least impulsive in the group and it always seeing and assessing before doing something. You can see this when she sees the others the day after the crash. She runs away. Why? Because last time she was with them she almost died twice.

1. When the explosion hit, she was the one that fell from the edge.
2. The train

The six of crows duology is honestly one of the best series in ya. You have all this crazy heist shit going on, the con men are being conned, and so on. But then, Leigh also deals with problems like human trafficking, racism and racial prejudices, positive self-image, disabilities, lgbtq+. And that’s not even all.

One of my favourite aspects is kaz and inej’s relationship. Kaz is a broken boy who needs fixing before he can be in a healthy relationship, and throughout the two books, he’s gone through a lot of character development and he’s getting closer to being better. He is not, however, an entirely changed man. And inej knows that and she’s not settling for that shit. Yes, she’s willing to try and help him heal. But she won’t let herself be dragged under with him. She knows when to put herself first and not give him everything of her. She knows she can try to help fix him but at the end of the day it’s kaz who needs to make the final decision to really try to heal himself and become a better man. Not just for inej but for himself. And it’s makes me so glad to see a heroine who doesn’t blindly want to give everything of themselves for the boy they love even if it may hurt them in the process. It makes me happy that inej is willing to wait for a healthy relationship. And it makes me happy that kaz knows this too and is trying to move forward.

Idk. I just have a lot of feels about my little crow children. Plz feel free to add on your thoughts

You wanna know why I think Padme is interpreted so differently by different people, or just completely ignored by most? I don’t think a lot of people want to reconcile with the fact that Padme is a smart, strong leader who can stay cool under pressure with the Padme that’s also so unapologetically romantic. They don’t want this to be the same person, because they just don’t think they go together. But Padme is. And a lot of women are. And you almost never see women be both in the media. They’re usually one or the other.

That’s why to some she’s the strong woman that George Lucas made completely out of character or she’s this weak, awful mother who didn’t stick around when her two children should have been able to rely on her, all because of a man. They don’t think that the 14-year-old girl who defeated the trade federation could also be the 27-year-old woman who had her heart completely and totally broken by her husband (though I don’t believe that was the only thing that broke her heart that day. The two things she had devoted her life to, The Republic and Anakin, had crashed and burned all in the same day, right in front of her eyes. That would take a toll on anybody.)

And, also, where did this concept of her making totally rational decisions all the time come about? She married a guy, like, 2 weeks after she saw him again for the first time in 10 years. Idk why people always take her actions in rots as out of character. She has a track record for not making totally smart decisions when it comes to Anakin.

Truth: Arrow 5x20 Review (Underneath)

Arrow isn’t a perfect television show. To be fair, I don’t know one that is, but I never needed Arrow to be perfect.  All I need from Arrow is a good story.  My frustrations with Oliver and Felicity’s break up, and the Baby Mama storyline, aren’t a secret. I found their break up to be wildly problematic on multiple levels. However, the one caveat I always held to was if Arrow can piece together some interesting character growth for Oliver and Felicity it would go a long way of easing my ruffled feathers. We’ve been dealing with the ramifications of Oliver’s lie about William since 4x08. That’s 35 episodes. We’ve waited a long time for Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to come to fruition.

The wait was worth it. At least for me.

Our perceptions of “good story” vary as widely as our perceptions of “perfect” but “Underneath” is a good story for me.  It’s almost perfect. 35 episodes. This road was long. It was hard but, in the end, I feel like I understand. It connects all the dots that need to be connected (and some I didn’t expect) while delivering some real character development that feels earned.

In the midst of the crazy world of arrows, masks, Mirakuru soldiers, 15 different canaries and Barry Allen resides the relationships between Oliver and Felicity

and Original Team Arrow.

These characters, and the love they have for one another, is the sanity in all the madness. It’s the real in the fiction. Oliver, Felicity and Diggle are the beating heart of Arrow for a reason. The love we have for these characters is the reason we watch and “Underneath” returns Arrow to center. It focuses on the love stories that made us fall in love with the show. In particularly, it brings Oliver and Felicity’s individual arcs to fruition and FINALLY merges their roads into one again.

Trust. Honesty. Forgiveness. Compassion. Humility. These aren’t always popular concepts in our society, but they are the building blocks to any relationship. You lose one, the whole house can come down on you. Love feels like it has its own inertia, like it chooses you and not the other way around. And maybe that’s true. Maybe we can’t choose who we love.  However, we can choose how we love.

If you are either Team Felicity or Team Oliver in the break-up- Baby-Mama-drama then there’s probably things about “Underneath” you didn’t like. As for me, I believe there are things both Oliver and Felicity need to learn from the breakup and “Underneath” addresses those things. But more than anything, I am ready for Arrow to rebuild what they broke. I am ready for Arrow to fix it. Are you?

Buckle up. This is, by far, my longest review. We’re going all the way back to the pilot and discuss about five different episodes. This took me about 22 hours to write. No need to comment on how long it is. I am well are.

Let’s dig in…

Since people don’t seem to understand what “Men’s Reproductive Rights” means,

I will explain it in a way using popular characters.

This is Nancy Hicks Gribble from popular animated show King of the Hill. One of the biggest controversies and stories about her is that throughout her marriage, she spent 14 years of it cheating on her husband , Dale Gribble

with muscle bound Native American masseur, John Redcorn.

During one of their frequent…encounters, Nancy becomes pregnant and has a son, Joseph Gribble.

Now obviously Joseph isn’t Dale’s biological son, but Dale is not smart enough and too trusting of his wife to question it (he has even caught them in bed together and incorrectly assumed his wife was just getting a massage). It is obvious to John Redcorn however. So what does this have to do with men’s rights? Well since Nancy kept the continued affair a secret, Dale has been taking care of Joseph, another man’s son, with the false assumption that it is his own. John Redcorn, who desperately wants to be a part of Joseph’s life, is unable to do so properly because the son believes that Dale is his father and Nancy refuses to be truthful. So one father is being tricked/forced to take care of a child that isn’t his, while another man is being refused his right to parenthood.

Need another example?

This is Lana Kane from the television show Archer.

Lana had a beautiful baby girl through artificial insemination.

However it came with some issues. She stole the sperm from soon-to-be father Sterling Archer

while he was having a cancer scare. Throughout the series, Archer has made it clear that he isn’t ready for a baby yet, so his stance on this would probably be clear. She then impregnated herself without telling him or getting his permission, got him to drown and then revive to save her because she was pregnant, then only after the baby was born, did she tell him it was his baby. Not soon after, she demanded that he “man up” and “take responsibility” for the care of the child, while she simultaneously refusing him any and all parental rights when he shows interest in the baby’s future, even stating that she would rather lose the baby than have Archer raise her. Comments on Archer’s wording of watching the baby as “babysitting” was met with similar responses as Lana’s of “It’s your baby, take responsibility” and “if you are the father, it is just parenting”. This all with him not getting a say in the baby’s creation and again, having no parental rights.

This is yet another problem that men face. At any time, a woman can either get pregnant through consensual intercourse and leave, steal a man’s sperm, or even rape him, and have complete decision on whether the child is born, and almost always gets custody of the child. At any time, the woman can come back into the man’s life and reveal that the man has a child (one that he didn’t ask for or plan for), and immediately demand the man pay back child support. The mother typically gets it. Men who would like to be a part of their baby’s life, no matter the cause of the pregnancy, can easily be refused that right due to court biases favoring women.

How about another?

This is Deborah Gallagher from the television show Shameless.

Deborah is pretty desperate for a relationship. blame it on teenage hormones, blame it on her family’s influence, but she makes some bad decisions because of it. Deborah befriended fellow high school student Derek Delgado.

They get into a relationship, and Deborah encourages him to have intercourse with her. When he brings up the need for a condom, she stresses that it isn’t needed because she is on the pill. It turns out that she lied about being on birth control pills, actually wanting to trap Derek into a relationship by getting pregnant and starting a family. Derek, shocked by the thought of having a baby, and concerned with the future that he had hoped for, moves out of the state to think and get away from Debby. Debby has also done something similar with a former boyfriend, Matt Baker, who she had originally lied to about her age and eventually raped while he was passed out drunk at a party. Her desperation for a relationship would have probably led to a similar scenario, if it wasn’t almost certain that Matt would have gone to jail for Statutory Rape (a different issue men face)

Derek’s story is actually similar to many men’s. He was clearly not ready for a baby, but was tricked into it. He had a whole life planned worked out, but the baby changed that drastically. The common response is “he should have thought about that before having sex”, which is not the same response a woman would normally get. Consent to sex is only consent to a baby for a man. Debby was ready for a baby, and he was not. But who cares about what he thinks, right? So now he must either halt or even cancel his life plans and dreams to take care of the baby, or leave the baby behind and deal with the guilt of his biological child growing up without him because he wasn’t ready.

You cannot keep shouting “my body, my decision” when it comes to a baby. A baby is more than 9 months. It is a life changing decision that could cost tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is a decision that takes years of dedication, potentially the rest of your life. Men should also get a choice and a say, but often don’t. not when they are raped, not when they are tricked, not when they are not ready for a baby, not when they have other plans in life, not when they want to be a part of the child’s life, nothing. That should be a problem. That should be considered an inequality.

“we should invite him.”

vilde turns, following sana’s line of sight, right to where even is sitting.

sana hasn’t spoken to even in so, so long. not since everything went down with elias and the boys. it wasn’t really a conscious decision on sana’s part, but even deleted all his social media and she didn’t have his phone number and, well, she really only spoke to him when he was with elias anyway.

but since he stopped talking to the boys, sana’s heard things. she knows even didn’t graduate. she knows he’s been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. and now he’s here, at nissen. and he looks relaxed and smiley and chatty, but sana hasn’t noticed him making that many friends yet. he doesn’t have a group he hangs out with much. he talks to lots of different people, sure, but he doesn’t seem to have any friends. he just seems a little…lonelier, than he was when he had elias and the others.

him?” vilde asks, voice high. “do you think he’d be interested?”

sana takes her eyes off even and shrugs casually. “there’s only one way to find out.”

and then they’re in front of even, and even pulls his attention away from the person he was talking to and sana sees, can almost feel, her presence hit him like a smack to the face. because suddenly he looks nervous. he’s smiling politely, but his eyes betray him. he just looks scared. like she’s going to tell him she hates him for what happened at bakka.

“hi,” vilde says brightly. “we were just wondering if you wanted to join our theatre group!”

even’s eyes flit from sana to vilde, but stay on vilde for the time being. “theatre group?” he repeats, voice quiet and just that little bit defensive.

“yeah, it’s called kosegruppa, it–” vilde begins, but sana interrupts her.

“it’s about spreading love,” sana says, as gently as she can, making sure she looks even in the eyes when she says it. she can feel vilde looking at her in shock, because this is the most she’s talked about kosegruppa to anyone.  “love. love and good intentions and positive vibes.”

even swallows, nodding, and there. there. sana can see some of the fear leaving his face. “you want me to join?” he asks tentatively.

and sana just nods, as confidently as she can, and gives him a warm smile.

she wants to tell him a million things. she wants to say it’s okay. i don’t hate you. elias doesn’t hate you. mikael and adam and muta and yousef don’t hate you. they just miss you. they love you. my mum asks about you all the time. sometimes, i think she misses you most of all. she’ll accidentally lay an extra place at the table for you when the boys are over. our door is still and will remain open for you.

but she can’t say any of that. instead, she just says, “of course. i’d love for you to join.”

and, well, the smile even gives her is enough for now.

anonymous asked:

if your still doing requests, could you do a fic where Jughead is a serpent and goes to Southside high and Betty is head cheerleader at riverdale and is dating Chuck? thanks and I love your writing!

Jughead held the rag to his nose, cursing under his breath as his friends all tended to their injuries. They had been jumped, absolutely wrecked by some Riverdale goonies in Blue and Yellow Letterman Jackets. Jughead recognized them instantly when they ran onto the Southside Basketball courts, Chuck Clayton leading the way as he and his idiotic, brain dead jock teammates face off against The younger generation of he Southside Serpents, a notorious gang in the darker parts of Riverdale.

Neither side had won the fight, both groups of boys going home with some serious injuries, however they had stolen his Leather Jacket and he was fairly pissed about that.

“I’ll kill them” a burly boy named Dean stated, spitting tobacco on the ground as he cracked his knuckles, nursing a seriously bruised cheek.

“We have to retaliate, maybe hit up that Diner they’re always going too.“A dirty teenager shouted from the back.

Beside him his closest friend and fellow Serpent ,Keith, rolled his eyes, elbowing Jughead with an exasperated shrug.

Jughead shook his head, wincing as he removed the rag

“We’ll get them back, but for now…we make them wait.. they’ll be waiting for us. Make them shake a bit” he said simply, as the other boys nodded in agreement. The Serpents always listened to Jughead, he was the voice of reason
And with his father being the gang leader he had somewhat of a pull.

There was a soft knock on the door, all of the boys went quiet as it slowly opened, revealing the one thing no one was expecting.

In walked an incredibly beautiful, blonde teenaged girl, her long hair pulled tightly in a ponytail and her shiny green eyes looking nervously around the bar, she had on a floral blue skirt and a clean white sweater, considering the fact that it was definitely over eighty degrees the choice of top confused Jughead, she stepped forward a nervous smile gracing her perfect heart shaped lips. She had a familiar leather jacket clenched in her hands and she seemed taken aback by everyone staring at her

“Umm hello. I’m so sorry to interrupt but I have something to return.”

Even her voice was soft like cotton. She held out the leather jacket to the group

“I found this in my boyfriends car, I know it doesn’t belong to him so I thought I would bring it back on my own.” She looked around, waiting for someone to claim it, her fingers twitching.

Snapping out of his daze Jughead walked towards the gorgeous blonde.

“That’s mine, your boyfriends an asshole” he said simply, standing before her and gently taking the jacket, his eyes fluttering closed for a second as he inhaled the fresh vanilla and peach that wafted off of her.

“You have no idea” she smiled sadly, something in her eyes made Jughead want to reach for her, grab her and wrap her up. “I’m so sorry about this, he just.. he gets that way sometimes, Chuck should never have taken your things and he definitely should never have attacked you all.” She looked around, her sad green eyes growing more desperate by the second, he wanted to make her feel better, something he wasn’t used to feeling. Jughead jones didn’t care about anyone but himself and his gang.

“It’s not your fault he’s a dick” he said monotone .

He saw a glint of something in her eyes as she giggled and he felt a tiny bit of pride for being the one to put it there. She coughed a bit and nearly every Serpent ran towards her, shoving beers in her face.

“Oh!” She exclaimed, smiling at the gesture
“That’s very sweet, but I’m okay.” She coughed again and this time Keith pushed his beer a bit too fast, spilling most of it on her sleeves, Jughead shoved his friend away from the blonde and then rest of the Serpents shouted at him, smacking him upside the head

“That’s okay!” She laughed, an honest to god happy laugh “it’s just some beer” she rolled up her sleeves to her elbows and Jughead had to bite back the hiss at what he saw. Her arms were covered in purple and blue bruises, fingerprint shaped marks littered her wrists and by the collective growl he knew the other boys had seen it too. He was going to kill Chuck Clayton.

The Serpents didn’t make the best decisions but one thing they didn’t tolerate was abuse to any woman, especially this gorgeous angel.

Her eyes went wide and she began pulling her sleeves down
“Well, once again I want to apologize for my classmates behavior. I’d like to say it won’t happen again, but when you make Chuck Clayton mad.. well there’s really nothing you can do.” She shrugged helplessly as she headed towards the door, waving slightly to the people she passed.

When she was almost at the door Jughead looked up to see each and every Serpent looking at him with threatening eyes.

“Go after her you dumbass” dean whispered loudly.

Rolling his eyes Jughead headed for the door just in time to catch her before she stepped into her black minivan.

“Hey!” He called, causing her to spin around.

“Is everything okay?” She asked, concerned.

“Everything’s fine, you just didn’t tell me your name.” He smirked, pulling his leather jacket on and sticking a cigarette into his mouth.

Betty stared at him, that same glint he had seen a few moments ago back in her eyes. She plucked the cigarette from his mouth, popping it into her pocket and beaming

“My names Betty Cooper, I’ll see you around…?” she trailed off, waiting for him to fill in the blank.

“Jughead. Jughead Jones” he answered, still in awe of the angel in front of him.

“Okay. I’ll see you around… Jughead Jones.” With that, she got in her car and drove towards her personal hell. Riverdale, the town with pep.

Meanwhile Jughead was staring at her retreating car, his face stuck in a stupid grin.

Keith and Dean came up behind him, calling for the other Serpents.

“So.. what’s her name?” Dean asked as the low mumble of the Serpents came from behind him.

“It’s Betty.. Betty Cooper. Maybe you were right, maybe we should pay the diner a friendly visit sooner than I thought.” He said, his eyes hardening at the thought of Betty’s “boyfriend”

You want a war Chuck Clayton? You got one. And this time?

He was gonna save fair Juliet.

1) I don't have any way to prove this but I figured I'd tell you anyways. My aunt has worked for Sotheby's for decades and has worked with tons of private buyers and their celebrity clients. A few weeks ago she met with Harry's buyer (who she's worked with several times before but for other clients) and then early last week she met with the buyer, Harry, and an artist Harry has become particularly fond of. My aunt then told me that a few days ago when Harry came to buy the pieces,

2) He “brought his partner with him to help make the final decisions.” My aunt said Louis was “very sweet to Harry” and that Louis was “very adamant about Harry picking whatever and exactly he wanted” and in the end, Louis told them to bill it to him as these were “more belated birthday gifts.” My aunt wouldn’t have known anything about Harry’s birthday otherwise so that really confirmed it all for me. Sorry I don’t have a way to fully prove this but I’ll try to answer any questions you have!

i don’t care if this is fake it’s very #real and very much something larry would do it’s adorable thanks for the story

Notes: angst(ish), PTSD, fluff, service dogs, isolation, masturbation.

Summary: Bucky’s been going through the motions ever since he got back from his last tour, missing one arm. Then he meets a girl while walking his service-dog Ziva at an ungodly hour. She might be the breath of fresh air he doesn’t know he’s been missing.

A/N: Hi guys! This story is a one shot AU.Hope you enjoy it! x

There’s something -everything- so calming about being outside before the crack of dawn; sure, it’s because Bucky has trouble sleeping and wakes up at four in the morning and is unable to go back to sleep, but, still. It’s like the world is his own for a while. A short while, maybe an hour before the first early birds show their faces, but a while at least. Usually long enough for him to clear his head after another short night of sleep, maybe after being awoken by a nightmare.

Having a reason to go outside, is even better, gives him a sense of purpose; even if his German Shepard, Ziva, usually gives him the stink-eye for waking her so early.

  • Evan is Larry and Cynthia Murphy’s only child and they expect a lot from him.
  • He’s terrified of disappointing Larry, who expects him to get the best grades, the best test scores, the best rec letters, and Cynthia, who expects him to be someone she can show off and boast about at Larry’s office parties and at the yoga studio. Evan never talks to them about how he’s too scared to talk to people, how he sits alone at lunch, how he feels like nobody would even notice if he disappeared. He doesn’t tell them about how his only friend–Alana, who lives in his neighborhood and who is speeding towards a bright, amazing future without him–is too busy with extracurriculars to spend time with him anymore. He doesn’t tell them how he really broke his arm, and they don’t ask.
  • Despite being anxious and withdrawn, Cynthia and Larry never take him to a therapist, despite his guidance counselor telling them that he would benefit from something like that. Larry doesn’t think his son needs to go to a therapist to talk about his feelings and Cynthia doesn’t think having a child in therapy would look very good.
  • When Evan gets his license–which Larry guilts him into doing, because “you can’t expect me and your mother to drive you around whenever you need, Evan, we have other things we need to do”–he starts going out to the national park he remembers his parents taking him to when he was little. He likes to climb up in the trees and appreciate how beautiful everything looks from up there. That’s where he breaks his arm the summer before senior year.
  • Evan started memorizing tree facts in middle school because, whenever he starts to feel nervous, reciting tree facts to himself helps him calm down a little bit. That works until halfway through high school when it suddenly seems like nothing can alleviate his anxiety, not even for a second.
  • Connor and Zoe are Heidi’s kids, and Heidi’s the Best Mom.
  • The moment Connor started acting out in elementary school–read: the moment Connor threw a printer at his teacher–Heidi took him to a psychologist so he could get help, and she’s been supportive every step of the way. She doesn’t coddle him too much and she trusts him to be careful with his medication and to do his therapy homework. When she finds out he’s been smoking pot, she doesn’t fly off the handle and ground him or get angry at all, really. She just tells him to not make a habit of it and to make good decisions.
  • Heidi doesn’t focus all her attention on Connor, though–she cares a lot about Zoe too, and she takes off of work to go to her jazz band concerts and gives Zoe pamphlets for colleges with good music programs so she can start thinking of where she’d like to go. When Zoe was little, Heidi took a few days off over one summer and painted the ceiling of Zoe’s room to look like the night sky. It’s really just black with a bunch of tiny dots, but Zoe loved it.
  • Connor and Zoe fight. A lot. Heidi steps in when things get nasty and sends Connor to his room to cool off. He’ll usually come back out to find Zoe watching Grey’s Anatomy or Scandal on the couch in the living room a few hours later. Connor apologizes and Zoe reminds him that just because he’s depressed doesn’t mean he gets to be an asshole and Connor promises to do better.
  • At school, Connor spends most of his time with Zoe or Jared, their family friend who likes to be an asshole just because. Jared may be an insensitive douche 99% of the time, but Connor likes his dumb commentary when they play mind-numbing video games after school, so he doesn’t mind having him around. Much.
  • One day, some asshole in the hall is giving Connor shit about his hair and lo and behold there’s Evan, laughing at him. If there’s one person at this school who’s a bigger loser than Connor, it’s Evan. He has no friends–the only person Connor’s ever seen him talk to is Alana, and Connor’s pretty sure Alana just talks to everyone because that’s what high-strung overachievers who spend their summer break boosting their resume do. They talk to the losers, throw them a bone once in a while. Connor gets pissed and, because he’s a dumbass who does dumb shit, he pushes Evan and immediately feels guilty because fuck the kid’s got a broken arm and here Connor is, pushing him on his first day of his senior year, and that’s just a real dick move.
  • Connor tells Zoe about pushing Evan and she tells him that he needs to go apologize, so he tracks him down at the end of the school day in the library, because of fucking course Evan goes to the library after school. From what Connor’s heard Alana say in Chemistry, Evan’s a shoo in for being salutatorian, so he probably spends all of his time studying. Connor accosts Evan as he’s getting ready to leave, probably heading to track practice. Connor’s seen Evan run a few times and, to be completely honest, Evan’s awful at it; he’s probably doing it for his parents’ sake or because he thinks doing some kind of sport will look good on college applications.
  • Connor apologizes and Evan acts all flustered, saying that it’s fine, that it was his fault. Connor signs his cast–signs his name in big ass shaky letters because then it won’t be so obvious that this kid has no friends. He won’t lie; he feels bad for Evan. Evan’s awkward and anxious as fuck and he reminds Connor of himself a little bit.
  • After that, Connor starts saying hi to Evan in the hallway and tracking him down at lunch so they can sit together. He introduces Evan to Zoe–which is awkward as hell because Evan is horrible at hiding that he has a massive hard on for Connor’s sister and he stumbles through an introduction that is, quite frankly, painful to watch. He introduces Evan to Jared and Jared immediately starts being an asshole to him, because that’s the Jared Kleinman Way, but Connor tells him to fuck off sometimes because Evan is sensitive and seems to have trouble telling when something’s a joke not an insult and the whole point of introducing Evan to people was to help Evan make more friends, not to make Evan more miserable.
  • When Connor invites Evan over to his house the first time, he introduces Evan to Heidi and Heidi absolutely loves him. She treats him like he’s her own kid and, over the next few months, Heidi becomes a kind of second mom to Evan. She even talks to his parents about letting him go to therapy and, after a few tense conversations, Larry and Cynthia agree to take him to see someone.
  • Eventually, Evan admits how he broke his arm to Connor. He tells him about how hopeless he felt, how he figured nobody would even notice if he disappeared. He also tells him about how grateful he is to Connor. Evan has friends now–he has Connor and Zoe and Jared and Alana. He’s getting the help he’s desperately needed for years because of Connor and Heidi. Evan gets all teary eyed and Connor pats his shoulder and tells him its no big deal. Connor tells him that Evan is the best friend he’s ever had.
  • Evan tells Alana and Zoe and Jared about what happened after his conversation with Connor, and they’re amazing. They don’t get upset and they don’t make it about themselves. Alana suggests they start a group–an organization to help kids who feel the way Evan did, the way they all have at one time or another.
  • Connor and Evan are co-presidents, Alana is vice president, Zoe is treasurer, and Jared is… well Jared is there, and that’s what counts.
  • Connor gets a scholarship to the state university and Evan gets admitted to a few different schools but settles on going to the state university with Connor. They request each other as roommates and spend the next four years screwing around, being dumb young adults, and it’s better than anything Evan could have imagined for himself.

Some may give you disgusted side-glances because of your enthusiasm, but honestly? They’re the types of people who are destined to be future gas station attendants, so they don’t really bother you.

“I’m coming Wanda!” You reply, stuffing your matte lipstick into your bag and kicking your bedroom door closed. You hurry down the stairs, and smile at your best friend. “Ready?”

She rolls her eyes, grabbing your arm and tugging you towards the front door. “I’ve been ready since half an hour ago, you just take so damn long getting ready.” She tells you, leaning against the threshold as you lace up boots.

“Well, I’m sorry that I put effort into my looks.” You tease, squeaking as Wanda smacks your head.

“Stop rambling nonsense, let’s go.” She snorts, as you leave your home.

Count Your Lucky Stars

So this is a short Langst idea that came to me in a dream. It is very loosely based on and inspired by this post. There’s going to be two alternative endings to go with it. Both up by Monday (hopefully). Anyways hope you enjoy :D

What. The. Hell. That’s all they could seem to think as they realized they left Lance behind. How could they be so stupid? The Blue Lion had returned with a cockpit full of prisoners, so why wasn’t her paladin flying her. When they questioned the prisoners to find out his location all it did was increase their worries. He was still stuck on the Galra ship. You know, the one they had already wormhole away from.

“Oh, this is bad. This is really, really bad,” Hunk said as he begun pacing the infirmary after they delivered the rescued prisoners to the healing pods.

“Calm down buddy. We’re all worried about Lance right now. He’ll be fine.” Shiro was trying to soothe Hunk, but his words weren’t even working on himself. He of all people knew the horrors of being a captive of the Galra. He could only hope they wouldn’t put Lance to fight in the rings, not that their interrogation methods were much better.

“Lance is a quick thinker; he’ll find a way to keep himself safe until we find him. We just need to have faith.” Coran’s words were a little more encouraging, but there was still a problem.

“Exactly how long will that be exactly? None of us are in the condition to go back and fight, and who’s to say they’ll even be in the same system or have him on the same ship when we’re finally ready. I’ve already lost one brother to the Galra, I’m not about to lose another,” Pidge declared.

“I say we go back whether we’re physically ready or not. Pidge is right if we don’t go back now who knows when we’ll find him again. Not only does staying here extends the time he’s with the Galra, but it also leaves us down one paladin and unable to form Voltron.“ Keith was so mad at himself right now. He shouldn’t have listened when Lance told him to go on without him. That idiot was always sacrificing himself for others. He should’ve told Lance no, and stay to fight with him.

“Paladins I know you’re all worried, as am I. But we should consider the passengers we have on board. What if we go back and something goes wrong? We’ll be essentially handing them back over to the Galra after they just got a taste of freedom. Keith, I understand your point about Voltron, but like Pidge said, none of you are in the condition to fight right now. It’s better one Paladin than all five of you.”

Allura knew she must’ve sounded heartless now, but she felt she was making the right choice. As the leader, she must make the correct decisions, even if it’s not the popular one. The looks her crew was giving her proved that her choice was not the popular one indeed. Allura was only considering what was best for everyone that was here at the time. She wasn’t going to send them into another heavy battle injured and tired.

"You know princess, I understand what you’re saying, but when you were captured by the Galra a while back, Lance was ready to go get you, guns blazing. I guess I just supposed you’d do the same for him,” Hunk stated dejectedly. He turned to head out of the room, Pidge, and Keith on his heels.

None of them wanted to play the waiting game right now, but it’s all they can do. She doesn’t take Hunk’s words too personally because she understands he’s coming from a place of hurt. She wants nothing more than to go in “guns blazing”, as Hunk called it, to go rescue Lance. But that would be thinking like a friend, not a leader and certainly not a princess. With Coran on their side, it should take too long for the castle and everyone on it to be battle ready once more.

It took a week. And with every day that passed, the more tensed and worried everyone got. The prisoners the rescued were fully healed and sent back to their home planets or somewhere safer, and the castle was back at full operating power. Unfortunately, like most of them feared they had lost track of Lance. Pidge had her tech set to alert her to any transmissions that even slightly mentioned the blue paladin. Allura had sent word to their allies to keep an eye out, and the Blade of Marmora had their inside people looking out. They just have to play the waiting game a little longer.

Lance’s absence seemed to affect Hunk the most until eventually, he started spending time in Lance’s room. No one thought anything about it until one day he came to the common room crying.

“Guys, what if we find Lance and he doesn’t want to come back? What if they took him to Prince Lotor and he chooses to stay with him?”

“Hunk what are you talking about? Why would Lance want to stay with the Galra of all people,” Keith asked.

They didn’t receive an answer. Hunk just motioned for them to follow him as he leads them to Lance’s room. It was cleaner than they expected, but they suppose Hunk may have had something to do with that. The bed was unmade as evidence that Hunk was more than likely sleeping in here too. He stopped right in front of Lance’s desks where there were some scraps of papers as well as two jars. One was labeled “The Good” and had about two handfuls of colorful stars. The other was labeled “The Bad” and was nearly overflowing with black stars.

Shiro remembered this tradition from his childhood, but it appeared that Lance had a different way of doing things. He doesn’t understand why this would make Hunk think Lance doesn’t want to come back. Shiro picked up a purple star from the good jar and started to unfold it. And that’s why we bring our sharpshooter. -S

He remembered that moment. Lance had made an incredible, almost impossible, shot, and Shiro felt so proud at that moment. Not thinking anything much of it, he picked a star from “the bad” jar and unfold it. You are the worst pilot ever! -K

It was then Shiro got an idea where this was heading. He kept opening more of the black star and some of the things on them shocked him.

I hope I don’t need to remind you that the only reason you’re here is that the best pilot in your class had a discipline issue and flunked out. Don’t follow in his footsteps. -I

Aw, Lance, you just ruined it. -H

He’d be Sendak’s prisoner right now, if not for Pidge. -A

Well, you wouldn’t have survived the explosion if Hunk and Coran hadn’t gotten a new Crystal. -P

I’m taking Keith with me. -S

Shiro realized that these were all things they said that hurt Lance in some way. It also suddenly came back that none of them had told Lance thank you for that time Sendak almost took the castle. He’s sure at some point Coran did, but no one else. Not for waking up and shooting Sendak’s arm off, or anything else he did for them for that matter. They were always just distracted by Lance’s boisterous personality, they never considered how they spoke to him. And the jar was so full, who knew what other things were said that affected him negatively.

At this point, the others began reading the unfolded stars and were probably reaching the same conclusion as Shiro did. Hunk’s concern made sense as he unwrapped the colorful stars and realized most of them were things Lotor said. He probably realized the Blue Paladin’s insecurities and used them to his advantage. When were the two even alone enough for these things to be said?

If Lance didn’t come back they’d have no one to blame but themselves. They pushed him away with their words. They basically handed Lance over to the Galra.

Main Story/ Ending 1/ Ending 2

He leaned close - the scent of polished leather, and sage hitting her - his lips whisper soft against her brow as he kissed her.

“Indess,” Zevran murmured, her heart breaking for him. She had known from his glances, the way he would cut across the battlefield to support her, that he thought of her more than a friend. The fact that he still cherished her, knowing she loved another - it felt like she had betrayed him, betrayed his kindness.

“No matter the decision you make, people will understand.” He pulled back briefly, smiling at her sadly, as if he already knew the answer to his unasked question. “But Antiva is beautiful this time of year. The sea glitters as you walk down the harbour, rain and mud are but a thought, unlike Ferelden."

There was a wistful tone to his words, the rogue drawing in a deep breath, homesickness hitting him. It always did when he spoke of Antiva. It was hard not to cry at his gentleness, at the calloused touch of his hand on her cheek, fingers stained with betrayal and death, but there was a softness to them - the caress of a lover.

Perhaps a small bit of her did love him, in some strange, forgotten way. Alistair had claimed her heart, but Zevran made her very soul catch alight.

"You have sacrificed enough for this world. Come home with me.”
