From the captain of the delphine defense league herself –
The moderator was asking for Evelyne’s take on Delphine’s motives being unclear and no one trusting her, and she essentially responded by saying that no, her motivations have always been clear and that her strength as a character is that she knows what matters to her and doesn’t care what others think - she will do what it takes even if the sisters don’t trust her for it, even if the person most important to her doubts her, she will do it, that’s how strong she is.
I see her as a survivor. In many ways, she does exactly what all other characters on the show do. And quite often she does things that - if she were male - she would be lauded for. So, for me, it’s so refreshing to play a female character that does not have to be likeable. Why does she need to be likeable? Nobody else on this show does!
She has to survive. And so she does the things that ensure her survival. That’s it.
