You know Kobayashi was about to tell Tohru all that was wrong with the play, story-wise, but when she saw Tohru’s accomplished smile and realized ‘no one got hurt and everyone enjoyed it’ Kobayashi changed her mind and just praised her for all she did right and I’m EMOTIONAL.
Unusual inheritance prompts; #1? (and as a side note can I just say your work is amazing? Like I wish I could use my words better to describe how much I love your writing)
Sakura was really good with kids, like, it was somewhat unusual how skilled she was at worming her way into their hearts and gaining their trust. It was one of the things she was know among the older crowds for.
Still…that wasn’t a good enough excuse for what Tajima pulled with this, ‘I leave all my children in the caring hands of my sister at heart, Haruno Sakura.’ Yeah, it was cute he called her his sister at heart, because they were best buds, but really? Her? Mother children?
“I’m still allowed to drink, right?” Sakura asked, looking sideways at her friend who was already one kid in. Ino smirked.
“As long as you’re not cooking anything in the oven, drinking is a necessary evil. I don’t know how Sai does it.”
Sakura moaned, grabbing at her face and turning back on her heel, away from the front gates to the Uchiha estate. “There are so many other Uchiha he could have asked, though. An-and Madara is like, sixteen. They don’t need me.”
“You really want another Uchiha raising those Uchiha boys? They’re emotionally neglected enough as it is. They didn’t even seem phased at the funeral.”
Sakura remembered back to the funeral she had attended only a handful of days ago, and how upset she had been. Just because the boys weren’t bawling into their tissues didn’t mean they weren’t grieving in their own way. He was their dad!
“I don’t know how to do this,” Sakura admitted, even as she rang the bell and stepped back.
Beside her, Ino smiled to herself. Even if she was scared, Sakura never stepped away from doing the right thing.
A maid led both girls in and took their coats. A manservant came up and introduced himself as the head caretaker of the house. He would be taking care of the needs to the manor, which would go to Madara as soon as he turned eighteen along with a bulk of the properties.
Sakura didn’t get to see any of that, but a stipulation of the will provided that she be given shelter for as long as she asked in any of the properties. Failure to accommodate her request would result in the loss of that property. This didn’t sit well with a few of the other Uchiha who inherited property, but Sakura wasn’t planning on mooching off anyone or staying anywhere she wasn’t welcomed.
“The boys will see you now.”
Sakura looked behind her to Ino, eyes wide with fear. Ino just waved goodbye and let herself out. Sakura would be on her own from that point forward.
Tajima had two natural sons, but had taken in three other boys before passing. Madara was the oldest at sixteen, his brother Izuna was fifteen, then there was Kagami, Shisui, and little Obito. From what she heard the two oldest were very traditional while the two in the middle were uncharacteristically energetic and loud, leaving Obito too little to see how he turned out.
The doors to the library opened and Sakura caught her breath, bracing for the first impression.
“Well, when I was nine years old Star Trek came on. I looked at it and I went screaming through the house, ‘Come here, mum, everybody, come quick, come quick, there’s a black lady on television and she ain’t no maid!’ I knew right then and there I could be anything I wanted to be.” - Whoopi Goldberg speaking of Nichelle Nichols
“When I was young, my dad always let me listen to comedy albums. I always knew about comedy, I always loved comedy. The day that I saw Whoopi Goldberg on television, I cried so hard, because I kept looking at my daddy going, ‘Oh my god. there’s somebody on TV that looks like me! She looks like me! Yay! I can be on TV! I can be on TV! I can do it! Look at her look at her! she looks just like me.‘” -Leslie Jones speaking of Whoopi Goldberg
So we know from the flash-aside showing the bandit-turned-maid that Tohru’s encounter with her couldn’t be that far in the past (she looks roughly the same age in both instances). So what happened is that for the first time, Tohru began to question her lot in life. She was born into a conflict she had never questioned that she couldn’t see ending and defined all her interactions up to this point. And despite all she’s been taught, it’s not in her nature to be as aloof and superior as she tries to be – the bandit-maid calls her on that right away. So, she’s probably always been doing something she hasn’t truly believed in, and assumed that there was no other path for her in life.
Sometime shortly after this introspection was started, she wound up in a battle against the gods, and was gravely wounded. Her mental state when she enters Kobayashi’s world is clearly self-defeatism, a depression, because she’s only just begun to realize the hollowness of the conflict she’s been dragged into, right as she was struck down because of it. She cannot find any meaning in her coming death, and never got a chance to avoid this fate.
Then Kobayashi comes along. Comes along, and takes absolutely none of Tohru’s bullshit or self-pity. She saves Tohru’s life, and then gets her to calm down for a little and not get so wrapped up in her thoughts. And after that, she finds a kindred spirit in Kobayashi. Someone who she can vent to and someone experiencing the same kind of loneliness and general purposelessness of their life. It’s doubtful that Tohru’s ever had someone she could be so frank with, or who will be so frank with her. So when Kobayashi, drunkenly (and definitely a little bit horny) offers her a place to stay, Tohru jumps on the chance to just not be alone anymore.
It was never really about owing Kobayashi a debt, not in the traditional sense. It’s a good excuse, a rationalization Tohru likely needed, but she didn’t become Kobayashi’s maid out of a sense of honor & obligation. More, it was a reverence for all that a life with Kobayashi might offer, and a desire to actually have someone who understood her.
Hello, it’s the anon who asked about submitting a picture :3 How do you think the RFA members would react to seeing MC in this? (Also yea this is a sketch of MC in a maid cat costume that I happened to do in class one day oops :p)
Author’s note: SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG I JUST WANTED TO MAKE IT PERFECT!! & btw omg this lil sketch is so cute
He had been playing his game alllllll day
And you had tried EVERYTHING
to get him to pay attention to you
But apparently there was some super important tournament going
So, desperate times calls for desperate measures
“MC, I love you, but I’m super-duper busy right now!!”
“Just turn around, please.”
Yoosung sighed and turned around
“Okay, but I only-“
You smiled when he stopped mid-sentence
“Do you like it?”
Yoosung’s face turned bright red
He quickly spun around in his chair and pressed a button
“Uhh, hey guys? I’m gonna have to sit this round out. Bye!”
He spun back around and rested his chin on his hand
“You have my full
You bent down and kissed his lips
“Thanks, but you never answered my question.”
“…Do you like it?”
“No. I LOVE IT!!!”
He stood up and hugged you, spinning you around
“YOU ARE JUST SOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE, MC!!! SO CUTE!!!”
“Y-Yoosung I’m getting d-dizzy!”
He stopped and put you down
“Sorry, I couldn’t help it…”
You laughed, “That’s okay, I’m glad you like it so much!”
He smiled before removing your cat ears and putting them on
“Do they look cute on me, too?”
“YAY!! WE’RE LIKE ONE BIG HAPPY KITTY FAMILY NOW!!”
You lost a bet to Seven on who could drink the most PhD. Pepper
And of course he used your boyfriend’s allergy
So when Zen walked into the house and turned on the lights
There you were, in the middle of the room
In a maid cat costume
And with that Zen’s face turned BRIGHT RED
LIKE BOYYYY SOMEONE MIGHT MISTAKE YOU FOR YOOSUNG, BRIGHT
“U-Uhhh, take off the maid costume.”
You looked at the ground
“And leave it off.”
You looked back up at him and smiled
“As you wish-“
You turned around and walked away
Before you could move another step, you heard Zen call out
“Oh, and MC?”
“…Leave the cat ears on.”
“I thought you hated cats?”
“I do… but you might get to change that.”
You swore you could hear his smirk
Jaehee called you and said she was going to be home late
So you took this an opportunity to surprise her, and slipped
on something you were saving for a rainy day
And two hours later, your prey Jaehee arrived
“MC, I’m home!”
You hopped up and walked over to her
“Do you want me to get your bag for you?”
She nodded handing you your bag
She looked at you and then walked into the kitchen
Not even a reaction! I
wasn’t expecting that…
No more than two seconds later, Jaehee walked back out of
the kitchen and gave you a confused look
“W-What are you wearing?”
You smiled, “Oh, this? I thought you didn’t notice!”
“It took me a couple
seconds to fully comprehend what I was seeing…”
“But, you like it?”
She walked over and placed her hands on your hips
“I like everything
you wear. You’re supposed to be a cat maid, right?”
She stood back and smirked
“Well, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be making
You laughed and grabbed her hand
“How about you go put on your costume and we can make dinner
“Y-you got me one?”
You turned and gave her a devilish grin
You already know how this gonna end
You walked out of your closet and looked at yourself in the
“Come here! I think
you’ll like what I have on!!”
“Fine, I’ll be there in a second.”
You bounced up and down with anticipation
“MC, you know-“
He stopped mid-sentence
His eyes widened as he slowly approached you
I know that look…
Just as you were about to suggest… doing something else, he spun around
and walked out of the room
He walked back into the room holding Elly
“Here, hold Elizabeth.”
You took the cat and gave him a confused look
“Okay, now smile!”
You blinked as the camera flash went off
“JUMIN, ARE YOU TAKING PICTURES?”
“Stay still and give Elizabeth a kiss!! We can put it on our

“Okay, you can look now!”
Seven removed his hands from his eyes
You smiled at his now bright red face
“So… you like it?”
“I’LL BE RIGHT BACK!”
Seven dashed out of the room before you could question him
He could have at least
said I looked cute or something…
After five minutes, you started to get a little concerned
“Uhh… Seven? I can take-“
“Oh. My. God.”
Seven gave you a wink
But you didn’t notice
You were still staring at THE MATCHING MAID CAT COSTUME HE
A/N: This is an optional sequel to Lullaby. You do need to read Lullaby before you read this, but you don’t necessarily have to treat this as The Sequel to Lullaby as, in all honesty, I will most likely be writing completely different connected fics to that story. You can also partially blame @nightwingdiva for this. Only partially though lol
Y/N woke up with a soft smile on her face. It had been such a nice dream. The same dream she had been having since junior high. Her, Dick, and a little girl with dark hair just like his. It was so perfect it almost made her heart hurt, but she didn’t have time to think about that today.
She looked up to see her dress all laid out for the ceremony later. She sighed and got up. Wouldn’t do to stay in bed all day thinking about dreams. She would miss the wedding if she did.
Mrs. Dick Grayson.
Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Y/N liked to think so. She was really quite partial to it.
It seemed as though time passed by in a blur. Hair, makeup, last minute arrangements, getting every last little birdie all in a row. She did pause for a moment to look at herself in her dress. She thought she looked like a princess and breathed a sigh of relief at how put together she was.
Finally, she stood at the door of the church ready to walk down the aisle. Her breath caught as she looked up to see Dick standing there, all handsome in his tuxedo, with his brothers lined up beside him. Y/N took in a shaky breath and started down the aisle. She didn’t look at Dick as she walked. She was too scared that she would trip over her own feet if she didn’t focus on making it to the front of the church.
She did sneak a glance at him as she reached the altar. He wasn’t looking at her though.
He was too busy watching for his bride.
Y/N swallowed hard as she took her rightful place as maid of honor. Guess this is what you get for falling in love with your best friend’s boyfriend, huh? Especially when you don’t tell her about what you are feeling. Between the pain of not being honest with Barbara and seeing Dick happily in love with someone else, Y/N sometimes thought her heart was being ripped in two.
She hadn’t told Babs “No” when she asked Y/N to be the maid of honor. Y/N just couldn’t think of a legitimate enough reason to refuse without Babs getting suspicious. So here she stood watching the love of her life marry the love of his life.
Fate really has a way of being cruel now doesn’t it? Y/N took Barbara’s bouquet with an encouraging smile as the redhead joined hands with her soon-to-be-husband.
Y/N couldn’t tell you one word that was said throughout the rest of the night. She really and truly just smiled and played her part.
Hand Babs the ring.
Look happy for the couple.
Hand Babs back her bouquet after the ceremony is over.
She somehow managed to make it through pictures with a smile on her face.
She looked for an out and as soon as she got one, she snuck away from the reception.
“You know, you were starting to look a little bit like Joker with that fake smile.” She heard a soft voice say as she walked out the side door. She turned to find Jason standing there. She froze as he approached her. “Leaving so soon?”
“I am not feeling the best right now.” She wasn’t lying. She had been in emotional pain all night.
Jason’s eyes searched hers and he nodded. “I hope you begin to feel better soon.” He had known for a while how she truly felt, even if Babs and Dick were to blind to notice.
She gave him a wobbly smile as she turned and walked off into the night, humming the lullaby from her dream. Better couldn’t come soon enough to ease her broken heart.
/Y/N couldn’t see Daniel, but she knew he was there, standing in the corner of the room. Plush feather pillows supported her upper body, and silk sheets caressed her bare legs. She’s dressed in a pink babydoll nightgown and it compliments her and her skin nicely.
Daniel’s voice grabs her attention, and its like music to her ears, causing goosebumps to dance down her body.
“Mr. Howell” she gasps, arching her back- putting on a show for him. “Come to me” she whispers, but it’s loud enough for him to hear.
He obeys, stepping out of the shadows, the candles that are placed around the room illuminate his face. His eyes drink her in like a glass of red wine.
“What do you want?” He asks, but they both know what she wants./
First in the morning, drink the Lady’s fresh water in honor to her, and meditate. A maid with a cluttered mind is like a tradeswoman with a cluttered warehouse; she will lose as much as she finds, and dust and shadows will gather.
When a maid sups, it is right for her to offer praise for the Lady’s blessing of food and table, and thanks to the women whose labors produced the meal.
In all her work, she must strive to be honest and steadfast. Whether she care for a home, or labors at a skill, or keeps a shop, her duties are known, and should be undertaken with peace in her heart. Remember that the Daughter, even as She approached that terrible duty- Her own death- was firm as the implaccable mountains.
Her altar should be well tended daily, with a sweep of the cloth and a sprinkle of water. The home is the centre of the maid and the Maid alike.
A maid is kind and true. A maid is just. A maid keeps the balance.
In a world where Santana’s a songwriter and DJ working in Los Angeles, and Rachel’s a Broadway star living in New York:
Rachel’s been in a bit of a slump due to a slew of bad press and intimate upheaval out of her control, so Santana’s friend, Mercedes, one of Rachel’s old roommates and a Top 40 artist in her own right, gives Rachel Santana’s card, telling her she’s the perfect person to revitalize Rachel’s image and career. However, after their initial meeting ends in butting heads and sparks flying, one thing’s for sure - nothing will be the same for Santana and Rachel again. (Smugly, Mercedes gets all the bragging rights when she gives the Maid of Honor speech at their wedding a couple of years later.)
Certainly not from the circumstances she found herself in. Lack of options and her son Henry to support have seen her agree to move to Kansas as the mail-order bride of Liam Jones. But Liam’s untimely demise has left her in the care of his brother Killian and nothing is turning out like she thought it would.
Killian Jones was nobody’s idea of hero.
But he’d try to do what Liam would have wanted. Even if that meant keeping Emma as his own, knowing he was a poor second choice.
Storybrooke, Kansas, wasn’t exactly what it seemed on the outside. Respectable is a relative term when you’re living out on the prairie, and people will do what they have to do to survive.
Thrown together and facing an uncertain future, Emma and Killian must decide if they will find their own kind of happy ending in a strange kind of place.
