she has too many beautiful pictures it's really hard to choose

hey! this might seem like an odd question but can I ask how you design your outfits/armor designs? whenever i try to design something for a character it kinda comes out simple, or is similar to other designs i've made in the past and i was wondering if you had any other tips ^_^ (also, i absolutely adore you're hq!! fantasy au and i can't wait for another update X3 )

Hey there Anon! :) I’m sure your work is fantastic! Just brainstorming and trying new things (even if you think it turns out too similar or simple) is always a good thing! Tbh I’m not really experienced in concept design and I don’t find my work to look very skilled haha but here’s a couple things I do when doing these kinds of drawings. First, I think it’s good to grab as many reference photos as you feel you need. For Ushijima’s (shiratorizawa) armor outfit I was looking at a lot of ancient Greek armor. What I did was take the general shape of the armors in the pictures and elaborated on it. It is VERY helpful (at least for me) to have a “base” for your designs that you can start with so that it’s easier to add in detail and embellishments. It also helps you understand how clothes/armor fits. I struggle a lot with making armor look like it’s wearable with room for the bending of elbows and knees, so I try to take time to figure out how the armor is being worn and what pieces are separate from the others. Second, when trying to think of something new, I like to try and think in shapes. Like Ushijima’s is very round and circular but Iwa’s is very sharp and diamond shaped. It’s easier for me to make something more detailed when I have a basic shape that applies to the whole outfit: if I wanted to add designs on the fabric for Ushijima, it would probably be a lot of curved lines and circular designs. Lastly, reference, reference, reference. On clothes and armor around the world. You won’t find a better inspiration than real life designs! It’s not like you have to copy it, just observe it and maybe take aspects of what you’re seeing, such as a cloth wrapped on one side of the body, or a utility belt/strap that goes around the waist and over the shoulder. And there’s nothing wrong with not liking the design you make at first <3 just keep sketching over and over and don’t give up! And have fun experimenting with different things ~ Sorry for the long ramble hahah

Answering other ASKS here (it’s gonna be a long one… lol):

Hi there! Hmm drawing technique… I would define it as HOW you draw something. Or HOW you use your choice of medium to draw/paint. For example, if you use pencil/pen, there’s something called stippling, which is a bunch of dots to create an illusion of shading. Stippling is a technique you use to draw with the pencil/pen. Same with cross hatching. You can’t really have a drawing technique, as it is something used by a lot of people. But you can USE technique and HAVE a personal style, which is the end result of you using technique. If that makes sense? Ahhh I hope this helped at least a little ;__; That was a hard question haha I had to think about this quite a bit XD

Hi @plants-blooms! Thank you so much! Ohhh another hard Q hahah. I agree it can be hard to achieve a natural look on photoshop. I think it really comes down to your choice of brush and your understanding of light and color on hair.

I did this super quick and messily but I think it gets across the impact of using different brushes while drawing the same thing. It’s very important to know what kind of look you are going for and brushes factor a lot into it. And then there’s color and light. I think the best way to do realistic, natural looking hair is to observe real life and understand how the environment interacts with it (careful though since there are a lot of different types of hair). The amount of light a person’s hair is exposed to affects it’s color; not painting it in the right shade when the environment is really dark or really light can throw off its realism. Also, you don’t HAVE to emulate real hair and draw every single strand. If you understand all that light/color business, you can actually draw very simply and it will still look realistic. I’d like to point you towards WLOP’s work <3 their work IS detailed but it’s also a combo of specific brushes and an amazing understanding of light. And Wlop’s painting tutorial HERE. In general make sure to practice by observing portrait photos (perhaps flickr) or just creep on people in real life hehe

Haha hi there ~ Ahh thank you so much >///< yes that is me! *cough* Butiwaswearingalotofmakeupinthatreferencephotolmao *cough*

Ahh thank you so much @ichigodaisuki! <3 The small square above the nano is a very lazy and quick attempt to draw 3DS game cards hahah. It’s Fire Emblem Awakening and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire XDD and it’s completely illegible hahaha

Hi there, Anon! <3 Ohhh this question haha. I’ve been following figure skating since, I think, Kristi Yamaguchi in the 1990s (she was so good). I’ve also loved animation since I was little. The problem is I’m VERY VERY picky about the shows that I choose to watch, so I decided to keep tabs on anime studios based on the number of shows they’ve made that I enjoyed. MAPPA has been on my list since Sakamichi no Apollon and Zankyou no Terror (both are extremely beautiful, mature shows btw if you haven’t seen them), so when I heard they were going to make an original FIGURE SKATING show… I was all in. I think I was waiting for Yuri on Ice for over a year because the trailer came out 10 months ago and the announcement was a while before that.

Anyways YES I loved the show, however it is not in my top favorites list (weird I know haha I’m sorry). But while I had issues with the character development and the animation, this show NAILED the main three. I could draw Yuuri, Victor, and Yurio all day! I think those guys were what made me love YOI, especially the relatable personality and character progress of Yuuri. Really wish there was more on Victor though, considering how significant of a character he is.

Ohhh Anon ~ If you want to watch something you should do it! Not being an artist or a reviewer should never stop you from watching a tv show, or doing anything for that matter <3 be yourself. Anyone who doesn’t want to talk to you because they think you’re “untalented” is a jerk and not worth your time anyways! The YOI community on here has been very friendly and welcoming, so don’t be afraid! Please take care and think higher of yourself ~ Have more confidence <3

Hello there Anon! Oh my goodness thank you so much! >////< And of course that’s totally ok with me! <3 ahhhh thank you so much for your support and I’m so honored you want to try and cosplay the design! I would LOVE to see it when it’s done if that’s alright with you?? *o*

Hi there Anon! Thank you so much and thank you for the interest! <3 There is only ONE king/queen at a time, but they are chosen by both of the two clans together and that person can be from either clan. Tsukki is definitely moon clan along with Asahi, Kiyoko, and Suga. Noya, Tanaka, Daichi, Yachi and Hinata are sun. I’m struggling with Yamaguchi, Takeda, Ukai and the rest… Kageyama is actually from Seijou and was banished to Karasuno and takes over as a dictator, sort of. So he has some work to do haha. Here’s the crests but they’re subject to change considering how fast and sloppy I did them LOL:

@fuckdin Of course. To both. Hehehe. But seriously yes, I definitely plan to draw more of the fantasy AU. It’s getting to the point where I want to draw all the characters and all the outfits and all the locations. And I have no time. It’s baaaaad hahah. But in terms of Iwaoi, their relationship in this AU is a bit… angsty. Mutual. But angsty… Soon. I’ll draw more soon!

Thank you to everyone who sent in ASKS! I have a few unanswered ones because this post turned out rather long haha. I’ll get to those when I can. And I’ll pm replies to the non-answer ASKS assuming you are not anonymous :)) Take care all! Have a great week <3 and a little iwaoi heh

Yuri on Ice interview translation - Spoon 2Di vol.21 (p22-27)

Here you have the loooong interview with Mitsurou Kubo that was featured on Spoon 2Di vol.21 (released at the end of December). It was 6 pages on the magazine… I know that some bits have already spread around, but it’s a very interesting one so I really wanted everyone to read it in full and not just tidbits, hence I translated it first even though I still haven’t finished the previously released magazines (sorry again Georgi..). It’s also the first interview with her published after the end of the series, so with comments covering up to the very end and the “future” too!

EDIT: I originally referred to the manga storyboard drawn by Kubo as “name”, which is how it’s technically called in Japanese, but it seems that it was a little confusing, therefore I changed it back to “storyboard”.

Obviously this will be the last interview of the year. In Japanese “happy new year” (before the old year has ended) is said “yoi otoshi wo” (よいお年を), therefore I necessarily need to make a stupid pun and say to you all “YOI otoshi wo!”. Let’s hope that the next year is a “yoi” (=good) not to mention “YOI” one too! I’ll be back with more translations whenever I have time of course.

Enjoy! (it’s under the cut because it’s long)

Ghost in the Shell 2017

Ghost in the Shell 2017 is a patchwork of ransacked imagery used to tell yet another story where Scarlett Johansen gets used by the powers that be.

Understand that I’m not just talking about the stuff it lifts from the 1995 anime, the 2004 sequel, Ghost in the Shell: Innocence, or even the stuff it takes from the second series of Stand Alone Complex and GitS: Arise, although that is certainly present. The imagery it co-opts is broader, taking a story that is deeply, fundamentally about the rise of Japan as a consumer electronics superpower, about the modernisation and global identity of East Asia. It twists the core philosophy at the heart of Ghost in the Shell, a story about connectedness, society and finding one’s identity within it and turns it into a story about revenge, isolation and taking ones identity away from society, by force if necessary.

Let’s start with the easy part, the imagery it directly borrows from the animated franchise before it. GitS 2017 is wall to wall visual references, almost to the point where it feels like the storyboards for the movie were just stills taken from the animated franchise with a few scenes of Johansen’s Black Widow thrown in when choreographed violence was needed. Iconic scenes from the 1995 movie are lifted wholesale, although in such a way as to remove the context of the original. The stunning cyborg creation scene from the opening credits of GitS 1995 is here, although it is not assumed to be a routine process. In the original the scene exists to illustrate how such precision, impossible engineering is commonplace now, like watching footage of an automobile assembly line. In the new film it exists to show something exceptional, one of a kind. In GitS 1995, in SAC, indeed, in every other iteration the idea of a fully cyberised body is normal. High end perhaps, maybe not commonplace, but normal. A neat analogy for the increasing effect technology has on our daily lives.  Throughout the new movie Johansen’s Major is constantly told how special she is, how remarkable her body is and how, one day, everyone will be like her. Thats a theme that kind of runs through this new release. It doesn’t seek to normalise its technology, but instead pushes it to the fringes, so it’s either the preserve of criminals, corporations or military organisations, or indeed a combination of the three.

The hacked sanitation worker/ market shootout/ alleyway chase scene from the first film is also recreated, lovingly crafted whilst missing the original point entirely. In the original the sanitation worker and the assassin were two distinct characters, both co-opted by the Puppet Master to carry out brain hacks of key individuals. They are both revealed to have had their memories hacked and replaced with a surface level ruse designed to fool them just enough so that they believe this false reality. The 2017 movie also uses this idea, though it casts the two patsies as the same person, (which is admittedly understandable for the sake of brevity). What it does differently is that it treats their memory hack as a remarkable, never-before-seen intrusion. It’s evidence of a definite, malevolent and specific agency rather than just another aspect of a reality where people have had their own brains and thoughts digitised and interconnected. Not a natural societal outcome, but the will of an individual. Its that Eastern collectivism vs Western individualism played out.

While we’re on the subject of the remake’s approach to how it speculates on this futuristic technological scenario I was reminded of a particular episode of Stand Alone Complex. In the new movie the Major is revealed to actually be a young woman with an anti-technology political leaning forced against her will to inhabit this new, cyborg body (more on THAT later). It intrinsically casts technology as this malevolent force that is imposed upon people, that the forward thinking amongst us would reject this sort of thing. By contrast, the second episode of season one of Stand Alone Complex, Runaway Evidence, paints the idea of taking an artificial body as a thing to be desired, as something that can help people. In the episode, Section 9 tracks a multi-pedal battle tank that has run amok. At the end of the episode it is revealed that the tank is actually being controlled by a the brain of a revenge-seeking young man who, dying of a wasting disease, was refused an artificial body by his parents on religious grounds even though it would save his life. The central message is that technology can be helpful and that to deny it to those who could benefit from it on, shall we say, less empirical grounds is cruel, wrong even.

There are so many other visual and narrative references. Innocence gets plentiful nods, from the Yakuza shootout, murder geishas, the doctor, Aramaki’s office, even Batou’s love for dogs (they had a basset hound in there too, but they got the bloody sub-breed wrong). The major’s red jumpsuit in the night club shootout is an Arise reference. The film’s tragic and misunderstood antagonist is a rough mash up of the Puppet Master from the 1995 movie and the bad guy, Kuze, from the second series of Stand Alone Complex. It’s messy, and raises the inevitable question; who is this movie for?

Despite all the references, its hard to make the argument that the film was aimed at fans of the original release. Simply put, the philosophy GitS 2017 espouses is so nascent, so entry-level, it doesn’t add anything to the narrative. Loose pondering about identity and the immateriality of memory is a far cry from the original, indeed the franchise as a whole’s, discussion of the nature of humanity and the nature of society in an ever-changing technological landscape. It’s perhaps old hat now, but at the time GitS was thought provoking and special, the message it conveyed perhaps more important than the story it was attached to. The remake is the opposite, a story that has some desultory meanderings applied almost as an homage to what came before. It’s a small, personal and insular revenge story, and it’s a real shame to see Scarlett Johansen falling back into the same role of the hyper-competent but completely owned soldier again and again.

To top it all off the new film is, ultimately, kind of sloppy. It doesn’t justify its design decisions. Everything is painted with a broad brush, concerned with what looks surface-level cool rather than what would actually fit or trying to explain things. The original movie and its sequels, much like the manga that preceded them, were obsessed with detail. Things like the major ejecting and replacing the overheated barrel of her rifle because she was firing HV ammo. Making a point of showing the major swimming with a float tank because her cyber body is too heavy to swim, or in Innocence Togusa asking why Batou chooses such a high-maintainance dog (the basset hound) considering his busy lifestyle. Even the expository bureaucratic dialogue helps us to comprehend how complex and nested the various political factions are. None of these things are really necessary to the story but they help build on the world and the characters in it. GitS 2017 relies too much on leaning on what came before it rather than building something it can itself stand on, assuming the audience knows enough already. I remember commenting on how nice the city looked before acknowledging that it had better, considering Future Shanghai is such a well worn and established visual trope at this point. When everything from movies to games to anime to music videos have nailed that aesthetic a decade or more previous you’d best believe you need to get it right. In the original franchise Togusa is this well developed character who shows up in every element of the franchise, he exists to provide an essential human element to a story about cyborgs who are increasingly detached from their humanity. In the 2017 film he’s a no-nonsense ballbuster. All he retains is his shitty mullet and his mateba pistol (speaking of guns, and attention to detail, how do you make a live action remake of GitS and NOT make replicas of Shirow’s Seburo guns? Do you know how hard it is to get an airsoft kit of one of those? Girl’s been wanting one of those for a damn while).

The last thing I need to touch on is the film’s whitewashing. It’s practically impossible NOT to talk about it, considering it’s likely what killed it the most at the box office. Scarlett Johansen plays the Major as a caucasian-looking cyborg who, spoilers, is actually a Japanese girl (named Motoko Kusanagi, surprising no one) who has been forced into it against her will and, to begin with, her knowledge. It doesn’t matter that Mamoru Oshii okey’d it, or that the plot ‘justifies’ it to an extent. It’s no secret that East Asia, Japan and South Korea especially, have a problem with perceived beauty standards, with ‘western’ looks and body types being seen as increasingly desirable and preferable. Casting Johansen as this iconic character just exacerbates that, pushing and reinforcing an already damaging standard. Its what I identified earlier, doing things for looks rather than for a purpose. At the end of the movie Johansen is looking down at the grave of ‘herself’, the grave of Motoko Kusanagi. We know its her grave not from inference, or because someone says something, but because its written on the headstone. In English. Not in Japanese. Even though that would make more sense. But the whitewashing isn’t just in the casting; it’s the warping and twisting of the story, forcing this big picture story about Japanese technological advancement, the complexities of society and progress into a small, individualist narrative about revenge and fighting a system that can be represented by one overly simplistic baddy.

I didn’t like Ghost in the Shell 2017. Now, I’ll freely acknowledge that I may be too close to the franchise, I wrote my undergrad dissertation on it for goodness sake. And the fantasy of a world where someone can change their body like they’re buying a car is absolutely fascinating for someone who has real problems with their own body image and wishes they could change it right here, right now, as I type this. But I don’t think it’s unfair to discuss the film in relation to the media that came before it. In that regard it’s overly simplistic, derivative and strangely technophobic. Even taken by itself it’s relatively uninspired, not making nearly enough of the ideas and the space it works in and serving as another rote tale of a hard done by individual fighting against an oppressive and remarkably simplistic oppressor. GitS is better than that, its bigger than that and I hope beyond hope that this film’s lacklustre performance at the box office will deter the Akira remake, the Battle Angel Alita film adaptation that James Cameron has been threatening and any other needless anime adaptations that Hollywood has on the back burner.

Also, I can’t tell if Takeshi Kitano was well cast as Chief Aramaki or whether they cast him because no one in the West knows of any other older Japanese dudes to fill the role.

Private Chat between Tony and You
Tony:……So no one except Y/N and Peter are wearing the costumes I picked?…
Y/N: Yeah…I guess so?
Tony: Ok. Well, Y/N you’re going as Cinderella/Rapunzel/Ariel/Aurora you choose , the dress should be in your room, I had Natasha put it there.

Tony: You’re welcome! Now I’m going to tell Peter what his costume is! See ya!

~The day of Party~

 Your PoV

“Are you sure Nat?” Still not sure if I was ready. I was curious to see what everyone else’s costume was, since we all agreed not to tell. T'Challa didn’t come because he was busy, and Bruce is here, but he didn’t want to dress up. Since Natasha, Wanda and I were getting ready together, we all got to see our costumes. I was (Your Choice of Costume), Natasha was Minnie Mouse, and Clint was going to be Mickey Mouse. Even though Nat didn’t want to dress up, Clint somehow managed to convince her to be Minnie. Wanda was going as Alice in wonderland. my costume is alice in wonderland btw xD

When we all went to the floor where the party was going to be, I looked around, and saw everyone’s costumes. Many people were here, but just a few people were in costumes. We were the last ones to arrive. Tony was Batman, which I expected, Steve was wearing a werewolf costume, Loki was…….Thor?….. and… Peter was….(Cinderella’s/Ariel’s/Aurora’s prince or Eugene). Tony must have known my crush on Peter!!!! do any of you guys play Avengers Academy? When Peter and I looked at each other’s costumes, our eyes went wide and our faces were red. When Natasha saw where I was looking at and why I was all flustered, she smirked and practically dragged me over to Peter while Tony: did the same and dragged Peter over to us. “Well, we’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.” Tony winked and walked off and Natasha went over to Clint. “Uh- You look beautiful Y/N, I mean, not that you d-don’t always but  What I uh- meant was- you look really pretty.” Peter stuttered out. “Thanks! You look handsome too…” I said, my face still red as a tomato. “I-I know this is late, but I was wondering, if you would like to be my date?…” Peter asked me, while he was fidgeting with his hands, looking nervous. “Of course! I actually wanted you to ask me…” I responded shyly. “Well, do you want to go dance?” “Sure!” I took his hand and pulled him over to the dance floor and we started dancing with each other.

3rd person
“I told you this would work Brucie!” Tony said, with a smug grin on his face. “Fine, it did work, but it still could’ve gone horribly. They are cute together.” As Bruce finished his sentence, the other Avengers joined in their conversation. “I’ll have to admit, they’re pretty cute. Good job Tony.” Steve said. “What did you do?! My sweet little Y/N is going to start dating your spider son!!!!” Clint asked frantically. “Chill! They look cute!” Natasha retorted, trying to stop Clint from going over to Y/N and Peter and ruining the cute moment. Wanda just squealed and took a picture.
The night went on, and the new couple had goofy smiles on their faces as they went to their rooms, Tony happy that his plan worked, and the rest of the Avengers happy that they didn’t have to watch them be so awkward around each other, and Clint was mad that his little Y/N was dating a spider.

A/N: AHHHH I’M SO SORRY THAT WAS TERRIBLE I really wanted to get a Halloween chapter out yesterday, but I didn’t know how to end it! So I finished it today with a horrible ending! >~< the next chapter will be the next part to Capsicle! Please like, comment and reblog if you liked it! 💜 (none of the pictures are mine)

Welcome to my fan fic rec master post! I have worked for an exceptionally long time to get this together, and the following fan fictions are my favourites from the The 100 writers of this fandom! There were loads and loads to choose from, so it was really hard to narrow them down to this amount. There are about 30 fics here, and are 97% Bellarke, but there are other pairings scattered about: Minty, Wellvan, Clarphy and Bravenlarke being the ones with their own fics.

Take a look and see if there’s a fic for you! They’re organised by genre, and some even have little comments to show you how I felt about them! I have tried to link the authors to their tumblrs, too, but if you spot your fic, or someone else’s, that isn’t linked, just give me a shout and I can fix it! Thanks for reading!

(Each tumblr user is tagged by their fic, if you’re tagged more than once it’s because you have more than one fic here!)

rfa members + v reacting to their s/o suddenly breaking down one day, out of shock that someone actually loves them? like theyve gone a long time thinking they'd never be loved so much, especially in a relationship

Oh, man, this one is like a nail to the head but all of you please always remember that you are loved. The world can be cruel but you do come across someone who loves you, please don’t forget how special you can be and are ♥

Zen: He’s panicking. Did he do something wrong? All he did was wrap his arms around your waist to tell you how much he loves you and now you’re suddenly crying? He always did this though, what makes this time any different? He tries so hard to get an answer from you but all he can make out are words choked out in between sobs telling him that if he’s joking then it’s not funny.

“I don’t understand, my princess. Why are you crying? Do you not believe my words? They are as true as my heart!” He holds your body tighter, a finger tilting your chin up to stare into his pained eyes.

“Do you really mean it? Do you really love me?”

“Of course! How could I not!?” He stroked the tears away from your cheek with the pad of his thumb, his lips curved up into a gentle smile full of adoration. “You have made my life as bright and beautiful as the night sky we shared together when we first met. I love you so much, I want you to always be mine.”

“I’m sorry,” you sniffed and rubbed your cheek against the hand resting on your face. “I’m so sorry, I never meant to doubt you. I just never thought I would find someone that would love me as much as you.”

His heart broke at your confession but nevertheless he kept his composure, the arm still wrapped around your waist tugging you closer to make it easier to lean down and place his lips upon yours in a gentle kiss. He would make you love yourself as much as he loved you, this he swore.

Wherein Editorial Manager Kristen Welch discusses Jane Austen and Social Media Specialist Marya E. Gates discusses David Bowie and why you should join us for Austen vs. Bowie this Saturday June 18th, starting at 8PM ET

Welcome back #AustenOnTCM! While Jane Austen herself did not write any sequels to her work (nor do I think she would want to) audiences and writers have continuously revisited/reimagined her work—making this hashtag return in keeping with pop culture’s fascination with her and her work. In fact, there is just so much to say about Austen and her legacy that revisiting the subject again proved to be something I was only too ready to do. Especially when you look at the programming this time around: we’ll be viewing and discussing the movie adaptations of both my favorite novel, Persuasion, and the novel that I have read the most, Pride and Prejudice.

First up on our schedule is the 1940 version of Pride and Prejudice, starring Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier as our Lizzie and Mr. Darcy. As the first major motion picture adaptation of one of her novels, the film is a great one to revisit now (given how many versions of P&P have been filmed in the last twenty years). Plus, I always love reconsidering Lizzie and Mr. Darcy in various media, as it is one of those books that I like to re-read every year. While not my favorite, there is something about it that is so easy to pick up and revisit—Austen herself described the novel as “rather too light and bright and sparkling,” but it is exactly this sparkling tone of the book that brings me back again and again—it always helps lighten up a rainy afternoon or a stressful time in my life. From that iconic first line “It is a truth universally acknowledged…” I’m hooked again and again.

Of course, the book and movie will also give me a chance to discuss my feelings toward Mr. Darcy with you. As I mentioned in my last Austen post, I have never really understood the modern obsession with Darcy. This is not to say that I don’t understand his appeal to Lizzie—they are, in fact, perfect together—but Darcy for me? No way, we wouldn’t get along at all! If I had to choose an Austen hero (or two), I would have to go with Mr. Tilney or Captain Wentworth. Which brings us to the second film of the night, Persuasion (’95). In that film, Ciaran Hinds plays the aforementioned captain—a man rejected by the heroine, Anne Eliot (Amanda Root) years before the story takes place.

The book is my personal favorite because it focuses on themes of regret and second chances. A much more introspective (and some say autobiographical) story, it was published posthumously along with Northanger Abbey. I’ve always related to Anne Eliot the most of Austen’s heroines, I would even say that she is a true Hufflepuff—hardworking and fiercely loyal. Watching Anne struggle to express herself and her longing when the man she loves (and regretfully declined marriage from at 19) returns into her life, this time courting a much younger woman, is heartbreaking. As Anne says in what is my favorite Austen quote: “All the privilege I claim for my own sex (it is not a very enviable one: you need not covet it), is that of loving longest, when existence or when hope is gone.” This sentence, so stunningly beautiful and tragic (if you prefer, tragically beautiful, to quote Wicked), only serves to make Anne and Wentworth’s reconciliation all the more sweeter.

I can’t wait to discuss both with you on Saturday night, and hope you’ll join me starting at 8pm ET at #AustenOnTCM!

And now for something completely different, to quote another British cultural icon: Monty Python. Saturday, you’ll not only get 18th-century British culture, but the films of David Bowie, and a live tweet by our own Marya E. Gates….

Thank you, Kristen! Part of the great joy of working for TCM is I get to indulge in my love of classic films, but also cult films as well! #TCMUnderground has long been a favorite part of TCM’s programming for me and getting to live tweet David Lynch shorts a few weeks back was one of the highlights of my life - personally and professionally.

So when I noticed our amazing TCM Underground programmer Millie De Chirico had scheduled a double night of David Bowie this month, I just *had* to live tweet it! We’ve lost a lot of icons this year, but none of these losses has hit me as hard as David Bowie, who left us to become a real star in the night sky on January 10th.

Bowie was more than just an amazing musical performer; his filmography is full of cult classics from The Man Who Fell To Earth (’76) to Labyrinth (’86) to Basquiat (’96) to The Prestige (’06). (Did you see what I did there?). For this week’s underground selection we’ll be showing one Bowie movie that I’ve seen many times and love and one Bowie movie that’s been on my must-watch list for far too long: The Hunger (’83) and Absolute Beginners (’86).

The Hunger was the late Tony Scott’s feature debut and it really is everything. Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie are sexy post-punk vampires - the band Bauhaus has a cameo! - who’s relationship is, well, dying. There’s one really hot/bittersweet shower scene that will probably have you in tears. Susan Sarandon gets thrown into the mix and things get super gay. It’s delightful. Unfortunately, the film’s ending is not what anyone had envisioned - studios imposed endings even in the 80s! - and it’s probably best to just image it ending a few minutes earlier than it actually does.

Directed by Julien Temple, Absolute Beginners is a rock musical based on the incredibly popular British novel of the same name by Colin MacInnes, which also stars Sade and Patsy Kensit. Although set in the 1950s, the film is apparently full of anachronisms that are totally 80s, which led to it being critically panned. Honestly, it sounds like it has a lot in common with Streets Of Fire (’84), another misunderstood 50s-meets-80s rock n’ roll fable that bombed on initial release, only to become a cult classic (and an absolute favorite of mine). If you haven’t seen (or maybe even heard of) Absolute Beginners, you’ve probably heard its theme song - one of Bowie’s biggest hits in the 80s.

In keeping with my live tweet last time, I promise at least on Halloween picture of me dressed as David Bowie (I was dressed as Serious Moonlight era Bowie, which corresponds perfectly with The Hunger).

We hope we’ve piqued your interest and you’ll join us for this British invasion! Kristen will be live tweeting during Pride and Prejudice (’40) at 8PM ET and Persuasion (’95) at 10:15PM ET and I will hop on at 2:45AM ET for The Hunger (’83) and continue on into the wee hours for Absolute Beginners (’86) at 4:30AM ET.

Get some tea ready, and #LetsMovie!

Mating Season: Chapter Six [Tony Stark]

Title: Mating Season: Chapter Six [Tony]
Character(s) Featured: Tony Stark
Pairing: Tony Stark x Reader
Words: 2,554
Pairing: Anthony Stark x Reader
Genre: Romance/Comedy/Smut
Rating: M (Mature 18+)
Author Notes: Long time, no see everybody! Thank you to those who have stuck around through my mental block and read my probably terrible recent stories because of it. It’s been hard to get my head back in the game when life was hitting me right in my lady parts. Not fun at all. But now I’m back and ready to complete my mini-series, ‘Mating Season’! I know I was supposed to do a vote once again to see who would be going after Bruce but I didn’t think people would want to or even remember to vote so I thought I would take it upon myself to choose. I am a huge fan of the Avengers but I love Robert Downey Jr. who portrays the incredibly sassy and filthy rich Tony Stark. You cannot not picture RDJ when you think of Iron Man. They are one and the same. Most likely, if he was an engineer genius, he’d make the suit but he’d probably sell or use it for fun, I don’t know. So here’s the next chapter of ‘Mating Season’. Enjoy everyone! P.S. To the Anons who sent me requests, I haven’t forgotten you. I’m working on both as we speak!
Summary: Tony was never the committed kind of guy. He knew it and sadly, Pepper realized it too late. The billionaire never dreamed of settling down with anyone. It was just not in his nature, he forever believed he was a bachelor for life. Until you came along. You turned his entire world upside down, changing the rules of his own game. Now lost in your heated and irrational senses, you were going to change them once again, and ready to take full control of the genius playboy. Question is…Will he allow himself to be tamed?

[Chapter One: Natasha]
[Chapter Two: Pietro]
[Chapter Three: Bucky]
[Chapter Four: Steve]
[Chapter Five: Bruce]

“FRIDAY?! I could really use your help right now!” Tony yelled as he frantically pressed buttons on the elevator panel. “FRIDAY?!” He hollered once again, praying for the doors to close faster. His prayers were not answered. Your petite hands pried the sliding doors wide open before they automatically allowed you in. “Leaving me so soon, Tony? I thought we could play a little game. I know how much you like games,” You purred, your body shivering in delight of the cold floor below your bare feet. The engineer genius pushed his back against the glass panels, hoping to separate himself as far from you as possible. Of course, that wasn’t going to happen as soon as the doors shut close, encasing you both in. You smirked flirtatiously before you turned to the panel behind you. A thin sharp claw emerged from your index finger and inserted it into the emergency shutdown keyhole, damaging it to stop the elevator from moving. Tony gulped, “You know, that’s a fire hazard. We could get fined for that.”
“You could pay it. You’re rich enough,” You quipped, closing the distance between you two. You placed your right hand right next to Tony’s face, blocking his chance to move away from you. Your button nose grazed itself against his own as you cooed, “Oh Tony, you have me right where you want me. I’m yours for the taking, and I must say, I’m quite surprised you haven’t jumped at the opportunity.”
“Come on, y/n. You know, I’m just a flirt. You know I’m not really a playboy, I just play one in the movies,” He feuded. You giggled seductively, like a siren’s song to wandering seamen. Your fingernails fiddled with the collar of his compression short sleeved shirt, your bright e/c eyes hypnotizing Stark as a predator would its prey. Tony was amazed at your transformation, you certainly weren’t the young woman that was carried through S.H.I.E.L.D.’s doors.

Nick Fury held your frame up as best as he could, putting most of your weight on him as you struggled to stay on your feet. You were battered and bruised, dried blood sticking to your fur. You were unrecognizable as a human, appearing more as an animal hybrid with your sharp talons, ears, and tail. “Someone, I need some help here!” Nick yelled for any agents to assist him in tending to you. Tony happened to be at their headquarters speaking to agent Coulson when he heard the commotion. Neither you nor Fury could hold on much further and quickly ended on the hard cold floor. “Someone call the infirmary now!” He bellowed as he tried to feel for a pulse the moment he no longer could hear you breathing. Stark ran towards the huddled mass near the entrance and divided the crowd to see what had occurred. “What’s going on?” He asked Nick as he was still pushing people aside. “It’s one of the subjects we’ve been observing. The poor kid was left to die on the streets. She’s been trying to survive since she was a teenager. This time, I’m afraid maybe she wasn’t so lucky,” The head of the agency solemnly explained, sighing in relief when he felt the fade beating of your heart, “She’s still breathing but barely. I have to take her to the—”
“I’ll take her. I’ll call Banner and Cho to see what they can do,” Tony quickly stated as he took your unconscious body from Fury. He nodded as Stark lifted you and carried your limp form as quickly as possible to the doctors. Slowly but surely the fine fur that covered you reverted back to the fine tiny hairs upon your smooth naked s/c skin. The deadly claws morphed into elegant but dirty fingernails while your ears and tail formed back into their rightful original positions. He gazed briefly at your now human figure and was astounded by your beauty. Tony has seen many beautiful women in his life but there was something about you that made it difficult to look away. Your e/c eyes flickered open and he was mesmerized by the vibrant color. A vibrant color that was beginning to fade. Bruce and Helen made it to the hospital ward as the same moment he did, and hastily called a team to begin analyzing the damage done to you. He should’ve left and been on his merry way, but instead he remained anxiously waiting to hear Dr. Banner’s diagnosis. Why was he staying? He didn’t even know your name.
“Tony? What are you still doing here?” Bruce asked as he stepped out of the room in search of Fury. His eyes widened in surprise upon seeing the billionaire sitting in one of the uncomfortable hospital chairs with a cup of coffee in one hand and the other entangled in his hair. “Uh, I was wondering about the kid that I brought up. How’s she doing?”
“Well, she lost a lot of blood and Cho had to extract a significant amount of bullet wounds from her body. Whoever did this, really did a number on her,” He explained, wiping his glasses with a handkerchief he had in his left hand chest pocket. Bruce looked back up to notice Stark hung on his every word, waiting for the answer he was really looking for. “She’s alive, if that’s what you’re wondering. She’s got a lot of fight in her,” He finally said, receiving a small breath of relief from IronMan.
And a lot of fight you did. After staying unconscious for only a few days, your body managed to regain minor stability. Enough to defend yourself if need be though the longer the duration, the increasing toll it would take on your recovering health. Which you quickly learned that when you pounced on a mysterious stranger entering through the door. And that’s how you friendship began with Anthony Stark, when you discovered his presence in your hospital room, and you landed on top of him, your claws at his throat. Quite literally. A soft growl rolled up your chest, sounding similar to a jaguar’s predatory rumble. The short brown eyed man would tend to your every need, teasing and joking along the way in order to get you to smile. With the help of Dr. Banner and Tony meddling every second he could, you recovered at a quicker pace. Upon seeing your capabilities as a skilled fighter and mutant, Nick and Captain America inducted you into The Avengers Initiative. The bond between the two of you became stronger, Tony always finding one way or another to use either of his five senses on you. You never asked him why he stayed by your side that day and even if you did, you knew he would never answer. Tony didn’t want to explain that the second he held you in his arms, he never wanted to let you go.

Stark kept his eyes on you, as if memorizing every feature and detail on your face. He attempted with extreme difficulty to contain the excitement that was growing steadily between his legs. However, you were not making it any easier as you took his hands to place them around your waist. You leaned in, your soft plump lips inches from touching his. His heartbeat quickened, his mind spun with every possible consequence of both of your actions, but the aching need that pulsed eagerly within his thickening manhood was stronger. There were no use resisting any longer once your mouth crash landed on his, your petite hands running through Tony’s full head of hair. Heavy hot breathing proceeded to fog the small space, his large and calloused hands pulled your night shirt clumsily before the electrical engineer was right back on your swollen lips again. A smirk of pride for your accomplishment was hidden deep with your scorching kiss, your slender arms pinning his own above his head. Your pelvis was purposely pressed against Tony’s groin, rubbing against him in a slow yet firm motion. He groaned as he pulled away from your hold, tightening his grip on your waist and never releasing you from his grasp. The sound of his pleasure sent vibrations from your mouth down to your feverous and wet core, arching to feel more than just his lips. Your nimble fingers moved from his brown locks straight to his leather belt, practically ripping off his trousers in a blink of an eye. “How the hell did you do that? You didn’t even rip the fabric.”
“I’m—”, You began, “a no nonsense kinda girl, Tony. As well as a woman of many talents.” You brought yourself to your knees, kneeling right in front of his twitching shaft. “I can see that. I mean, you just went straight to the point. As much as I want this to happen though, sweetheart, I don’t think —” Stark was cut off by your hand covering his mouth. Your small soft left hand held his length perfectly as you began to stroke him gently. “Don’t you ever shut up, Stark?” You asked, raising an eyebrow as if to appear authoritative. He muttered incoherently into your hand, causing you to roll your eyes as you released him to rest on your knees again. Tony gasped as soon as he felt your warm moist mouth and your slender pink tongue wiggle around him. He cursed under his breath, looking down at your large doe eyes while you took almost all of him in. Tony muttered a string of obscenities as he felt your slippery tongue twirl around his length. Your talented fingers rolled his sac within your palm, enhancing the pleasure you were giving him. He was reaching his peak, his member beginning to twitch as you quickened your pace. Tony wasn’t ready to end it yet. He grabbed you by your biceps and pulled you up, bringing his lips to your neck. You purred from his touch, your core aching even more than what it already was. You pushed him to the wall once again, ready to pin his hands but immediately was stopped by him. “I thought you’d like a woman taking charge for once, Stark,” You smirked, moving one of your hands back to his hardened manhood. “I do. But in the end, y/n?” In one swift movement, he twirled you around and pushed your body onto the glass panel that faced the other buildings, “I still like to be the one on top.” His calloused fingers cascaded down your spine, and down to your wet folds. You gasped from his two fingers that danced within and around the tiny ball of nerves below. “You’re getting wetter, y/n. Does this turn you on? Feeling like any minute now, someone is going to look up and watch you getting fucked from behind by me? Your breasts pressed up against the cold, clear glass? Everyone seeing just how wet you are between your thighs?” Your breathing became heavier, your nipples erect from the sensitivity growing stronger, and your sex rubbing on his as a form of begging Tony to end your misery. “Please…,” You whimpered, perching your rear even more towards him as he stared at your lustful body. Tony smirked, positioning himself between your lower lips, and rubbing the tip before diving into you. A loud gasp of gratification escaped your lips while the billionaire went a steady yet rough pace. He grabbed a handful of your h/c hair, tugging it at the rhythm of entering you. Stark’s other hand gripped your waist tightly, enough to leave you with a delicious bruise. Your breasts made close contact with the glass, tiny goosebumps forming from the cold texture.

“Tony—I-I’m almost—!” You moaned, moving your form to his as you were near your climax. Tony was on the edge as well, moving clumsily before he gave one deep and hard thrust into you. He grunted, his body almost vibrating while his seed poured into you. Your hands pushed on the glass as you allowed your high to slowly subside, and Tony resting on top of your back as he gently slipped himself out. Your lower body pulsed and tingled, his juices beginning to seep out of your opening. As soon as you felt his weight off of you, your knees gave out and you laid on the floor exhausted. Stark slid down, trying to catch his breath as his brown eyes admired your glistening figure and his essence rolling down your thighs. After a few short minutes, your fever dissipated and the heat burned within you finally evaporated. Once you came to your senses, you looked at your surroundings, and the half naked man beside you. Fragments of what had happened flashed in your head, causing you to blush furiously as you attempted to apologize for your actions, “Oh my God, Tony. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. I don’t know what’s come over me…” Iron Man chuckled, still slowing down his heart rate as he raised an eyebrow suggestively, “Well, I know what’s come into you…”

Civil War: About Sharon

***disclaimer: if you are a SteveSharon shipper, please do not read this post. This is a post about Sharon from the POV of a Stucky shipper through Stucky-rose colored glasses and I don’t want to offend anyone. ALSO. CACW SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT,

So. On that note. By god I fucking love Sharon Carter. Not only is she an incredible character and a kickass gorgeous lady, she brought so much to this movie in ways that even reminded me of Peggy sometimes. Now as for everyone’s talking about - that kiss. Not only did I not mind the kiss, I think it was 1) absolutely vital to Steve’s character 2) shone this gigantic fucking spotlight on Stucky that honestly took my breath away. So if you’re feeling miffed about it, sit back and let me tell you why the SteveSharon kiss went from disappointed to holy shit wow, I thought I loved the Russos before.

Fic: Native Species (Tali, geth, gen)

I was working on the tango story and this ambushed me out of nowhere. So I wrote it. I guess I have Tali gen on the brain?

It’s mildly fluffy in that it’s a feel-good (or at least hopeful) story, which is good for me because I could use some feel-good today. Tali and a geth prime find some middle ground, in their own geeky way. Also, Rannoch wildlife.

I’m posting the whole thing here because it’s not that long (1500 words), but if you’d rather read/comment on AO3, it’s also mirrored there.

In her first day on the planet from which her people came, Tali considers the native species that Rannoch gave birth to… all of them.

Native Species

After a little while, Shepard gets up with a grunt of effort and dusts the red-gold sand of Rannoch off her hands. “I’ll leave you to the view,” she says.

“I won’t be long,” Tali says, though she can’t hide the hint of regret in her voice. It’s like a dream, sitting here with her mask off on the cliffs of her own world, the breeze on her face bringing her the damp earthy scent of the river below, the sweet smell of the flowers the grow clinging to the rock, and a thousand other things that she can’t recognize or name. The wind catches the fabric of her cowl and blows it against her cheek, a coarse-soft touch that’s unfamiliar even though she’s worn a cowl every day since she was a child. It’s so much like a dream that she is expecting, any moment, to wake.

Shepard’s hand settles softly on Tali’s shoulder. “Take your time,” she says. “We can spare an hour.”

So Tali stays.

Above her, winged creatures circle the river. She can’t tell from here what species they are, or even what general type of animal: bird, reptile, saurid, mammal, or something else. Zoology got short shrift on the Flotilla: all quarian children learn the major domestic animals (some of them will grow up to maintain the cryonic tanks that hold frozen embryos of quarian domestic animals in hopeful anticipation of the day they will have a home again), and a few famous wild animals (the furry aerh, the bright-feathered zhenall, the legendarily-fierce gerr), but that’s all.

Bleach 685 “A Perfect End” Review (AKA the HAIR Chapter)

Okay, let’s make a deal, shall we? I know many of you (myself included) are incredibly disappointed about the abrupt end, about all the questions left unanswered etc, but until the series concludes, I have decided to enjoy as much of it as I can.

There will be ample time for complaints once the dust settles; for now, I just want to enjoy the ride till the end.

Not that we shouldn't criticize what happens in 685 and 686 in a couple of weeks, but I’m going to be focusing on the what we’re getting instead of everything we’re not, sound good?

Here we go then.

(also, does the title sound ominous to anyone else, or just me? >___>;;;)

Lost in Transition: Astro City Vol. 3 #16

Hi, I’m Charlotte. I’m a lifelong comics fan and last year, I admitted to myself that I was transgender.

Like everyone else, I have been influenced by the content of things I read, see and play, and have unknowingly internalized their intentional (and not so intentional) messages. In this occasional series, I’m going to be going over comics that feature people like me, or close to being like me, and look them over with a fresh set of eyes.

Obviously, I’m no expert, as new to this as I am, but I feel I might have something worth saying. Join me, as I find my way out of being lost in transition.

2NE1 - Choc (May) Magazine Interview!

Q: Due to fans’s warm welcome and coming to Taipei to perform again, how is this concert different from the past in terms of preparation and feelings?

CL: This concert we have prepared many new song performances, the stages are also
newly designed. It is a totally different performance,we  hope to bring everyone a
totally new experience!

Q: Among the members who have weird or funny habits?

CL: Erms… this is a hard choice, because there is too many~~ Everyone is not normal
(Haha). For instance Bom, when she talks she will have special hand guestures.

Q: Everyone said that seeing your charismatic appearance, will make them a little afraid?

CL: Looks like it~~ But actually I am not like that. I actually like to do ageyo but it’s in a different way, it feels like a guy!

Q: Member’s age and personality are very different. As the leader, which aspect do you feel you put  a lot effort in managing?

CL: Everyone’s age is different, but I am considered in the middle so I will gather
everyone’s opinion and I feel this is something I should do!

Q: Is there anything else you would like do apart from music?

CL: I would like to become someone’s wife, have my own kid. But it feels this is something to be done in the future. Other than this, there isn’t much I would like to do now. To me music is everything now.

Q: When you first saw the title song choreography, what was your reaction?

DARA: When I first saw it, in my heart: Wa! How long do I need to memorise it? We started at midnight
and completed it around 3/4am. Come Back Home choreography is definitely fresh and unique,
it couldn’t be forgotten once you see it!

Q: Which is your favourite song in this album?

DARA: Truthfully it is very hard to choose which is my favourite~~ But if I really have to choose, I like songs with lyrics that allow people to have a connection with it! It would be Good To You, I
really like the lyrics in this song.

Q: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

DARA: I am afraid people will laugh at me at the superpower I choose~~ Actually I want to have the invisible power! But will tease saying that I would want to go to public baths!

Q: Do you have any brand you would like to endorse?

DARA: I think I am driving expert! But other people do not think so~ If anyone who is going to make
such commercial, feel free to look for me!

Q: What kind of actions that a guy does, you will feel its handsome?

DARA: It has been a long time since I dated… So regarding this part, I am a little slow. I am worried
that one day seeing a guy’s handsome action, I would have no feeling towards it. (Hahaha!)

Q: This round coming to Taiwan, did you eat any Taiwan dishes that felt like eating again or places that you felt like vising?

DARA: Bubble tea that I am drinking now~~ Just now I also ate Ding Tai Fung fried rice! This time, I really want to go to Jiufen (a place in Taiwan) which appeared in the cartoon “Spirited Away“. In the cartoon.
the scenery is beautiful, so I would like to go there and take a look!

Q: Releasing another album after 4 years, how do you feel and whats so special about the album~?

BOM: In this album CL composed and written lyrics for 5 songs. Especially title song “Come Back Home” is super nice! This album “CRUSH” is full of 2NE1′s character and spirit, hope everyone will like it!

Q: What is the best part of being 2NE1′s member?

BOM: Firstly, the relationship between us is really good! Although everyone has their own character, everyone is different. But once we come together, it will have a sense of unity, it is great that we can sing and dance together!

Q: Being an artist, what is the most difficult part?

BOM: Not to disappoint fan’s expectation, often I have to come up with new creativity and learn new things. To me, because of everyone’s high expectation, besides my singing ability, also pay attention to my dressing and constantly upgrading my own fashion sense!

Q: Is the stage outfits and your own style similar?

BOM: It is getting more and more similar? Compared to the past, I like flashy outfits more now, so I feel like it is getting similar.

Q: Type of men you like?

BOM: Fashionable and stylish or men who are serious at work. Once I have a target I like, I will not hesitate to woo him!

Q: Is there anything you would like to say towards your Taiwan’s fans?

BOM: Releasing album “CRUSH” after 4 years, the songs are really good! And thank you Taiwanese Blackjacks for their support! Hope they will continue to support 2NE1 in the future!!

Q: Talking about makeup techniques, members said that Bom is an expert. What are the special points to take note when you are doing your makeup?

BOM: Because I put more emphasis my eyes, so I will draw my eyeliner in a more obvious way, and the blusher when you are doing a Korean style makeup. Dara pays more attention to using blusher to give her a natural look. So when it is done, it gives off a healthy complexion!

Q: Every time when 2NE1 takes the stage, outfit are always a different feeling, what is the album’s concept this round?

MINZY: The 4 of us like street fashion clothings, but to retain each member’s style. So I dyed my hair red and wore red coloured outfits, giving everyone a strong impression. CL’s outfit is like lion or tiger, showing off queen’s street fashion!

Q: What are your hobby?

MINZY: I like to collect Gundam figurines and recently remote controlled cars! While playing it, I accidentally hit Dara’s leg!

Q: Due to fan’s warm expectation and coming to Taipei to perform, how did you prepare it differently?

MINZY: In the posters, 2NE1 looks like we are in the universe and going somewhere together, feels like embarking on a new journey. These promotional pictures are the theme for the World Tour and the new album. The most special part about this World Tour is collaboration stage with world renowned choreographer Travis Payne!!

Q: Heard that you cooking expert, what are your best dishes?

MINZY: Unable to cook often sine we are so busy, but I am good at cooking Korean dishes. I could only cook for the members as I don’t have someone whom I am dating.

Q: Are you the kind of person whom will confess?

MINZY: Based on my character, I will confess! But I wouldn’t say it directly: I like you. But using other methods to let him know!

Dean doesn’t really have a choice about the whole ‘dance’ thing—literally every other eight grader is going and his choices at this point are be a social pariah for the rest of school year, or man up and show his face.  It’s like the worst Catch-22 ever.  Dean doesn’t want to go—dances are freaking lame. This whole thing is stupid.

Friday night should be spent lounging on the floor with Cas, Charlie, and an extra large pizza, haggling over which Blockbuster rental they’re gonna watch first.  Instead he’s getting dressed up for this extra awesome foray into social awkwardness.  He tugs at his sleeves and glares at his reflection in the bathroom mirror.  Everyone’s gonna be acting weird, just like they have all freaking week, giggling and talking about what they’re gonna wear and who they’re gonna go with like it’s the biggest freaking deal. They’re not even gonna have good music—he’s gonna suffer through Celine Dion all freakin’ night.  Jeeze, Dean doesn’t even know how to dance.

“Aw, sweetie,” his mom insists, smiling and straightening his tie, smoothing down his shirtfront.  She doesn’t really need to do that because it’s already ironed and pressed, so that the collar feels too tight around his neck, “You’ll have fun.”

Dean rolls his eyes, and shuffles his feet, but he doesn’t swat her hand away when she brushes a stray hair off of his face, cups his chin in her hand, and call him her ‘handsome boy.’

Sammy is more excited about this than Dean is, but that’s because Sammy is ten and he thinks it’s so unfair that you have to be in sixth grade before you’re allowed to go to school dances—Dean envies him his youth and innocence.

His mom takes pictures and his dad ruffles his hair.

“Go get ‘em, champ,” his dad says when he climbs out of the Impala, “have fun.”

It’s not as bad as it could be.  It’s just their school’s gym, with ugly paper streamers and funky lights and a DJ.  It smells like the gym; stale sweat and lemon scented floor wax. Charlie is already there by the time Dean walks in, and she runs up to him in an Iron Man themed dress and a smile, dragging him over to where she and Benny and Victor are already hanging out, well away from the throng of kids bouncing to the music (if you can call it that).  Dean catches sight of Ash near the middle of a throng of seventh graders, screaming and whipping his mullet around gleefully.

Standing on the sidelines isn’t too bad—they’ve got snacks: little pigs in a blanket and these freakin’ delicious mini-Philly cheesesteak things, and pretzels.  People flit in and out throughout the night—Charlie goes off to dance with Dorothy, turning tomato red and mouthing “OH MY GOD” back at Dean as she follows her onto the dance-floor (Dean gives her a thumbs up and mouths back ‘good luck!’)—Ash stops by and downs a cup of fruit punch because ‘Doctor Badass needs a little pick me up,’ Victor is commandeered into dancing with Bella (who, honestly, Dean thought had better sense than to participate in this shit, when he mutters as much, it turns out she’s not too dignified to stick out her tongue at him).    Garth tries to get Dean and Benny to come out to the dance floor, “C’mon, don’t be shy guys; it’s fun”—but Garth thinks that Celine Dion is a revolutionary singer and his opinion is therefore, at best, suspect.    Dean’s fine right where he is, thanks.  Benny, awesome friend that he is, sticks by his side…until Andrea shows up making goo-goo eyes, and, well, Dean’s not that much of a dick.

Dean figures this is about as okay as its gonna get; his friends are happy, he’s got the tray of mini-Philly cheesesteaks all to himself, Crowley and Meg and their crew are holed up on the other side of the gym, and if he doesn’t pay too much attention to the music, this whole experience is relatively tolerable.  Dean thinks that’s all he can really expect, which is, of course, when things take a turn.

“Hello, Dean,” he hears at his back and he turns, smile on his face to greet Cas, except, shit—Cas is like, not Cas.  He’s dressed different for the dance, like Dean has, except Dean looks like a doofus in his tie and his nice shoes, and Cas, well, Cas looks…really freakin’ awesome with his white shirt unbuttoned a bit, and his dark washed jeans, and his hair mussed and spikey, and Dean just…sort of short circuits for a second, with a cheesesteak forgotten halfway to his mouth, his eyes bugging out of his head, his palms starting to sweat, and some weird fluttering sensation in his stomach that has absolutely zero to do with how many snacks he’s had.

Cas, for his part, cants his head to the side and frowns slightly, forcing Dean to realize that he’s staring and hasn’t said shit.

“Uh, heya, Cas,” he blunders, “Cheesesteak?”

Charlie chooses that exact moment to come over and unknowingly rescue Dean from himself (for fuck’s sake, Cas is a vegetarian and Dean knows that…what is wrong with him?).

Dean watches Charlie throw her arms around Cas and the two of them start a riveting conversation about Zelda.   He might be having an epiphany:  Cas, his best friend since Kindergarten (when Alistair and his douchey first grade friends ganged up on Dean in the sandbox, and Cas stormed over and miraculously took the three idiots out, and then pulled Dean up and over to the swing-set without saying two words), is actually freaking cute and like beautiful and shit (can you say that a guy is beautiful or is that weird?  Dean’s not sure, but he doesn’t have another word besides awesome for the way Cas is making his skin tingly and his heart beat too fast every time he smiles…nah, that’s not right, cause Cas is always awesome, so now he’s like super freakin’ awesome and…hot, and Dean is starting to regret the delicious cheesesteaks because he feels like he might hurl).

Cas probably thinks Dean has lost his fucking mind because every time he says anything, Dean sort of gapes, unable to form words around the overwhelming magnitude of his revelation.  Charlie keeps glancing between them as if she’s solving a particularly difficult puzzle, and Benny is too wrapped up in Andrea to really notice anything else.

“What?” Dean starts, shocked out of his reverie, which has something to do with the way that Cas has really dark eyelashes.

Cas shakes his head, “I asked you if you would like to dance…I think it’s the last one.”

“Uh,” Dean thinks that the butterflies have multiplied by ten at least; they’re making it hard to breath, “Uh, sure, yeah.”

Cas smiles small and shy before he offers his hand to Dean.  Dean takes it, blindly, reaching, worrying about how his palm is sweaty and hot, and probably gross, and Cas is gonna think he’s nasty—but Cas just leads Dean out onto the floor.  Not in the middle, but over to the side. It’s a bit darker here, and he doesn’t have to worry about idiots elbowing him (he only has to worry about not stepping on Cas’ feet, which suddenly seems really difficult and mildly terrifying).

“Relax, Dean,” Cas says, and it’s the same calm, soothing, no time for bullshit voice that’s soothed him through nightmares and comforted him when he broke his arm last summer, and stayed up with him all night that time his mom and dad fought so hard that Dad left and slammed the door behind him—and Dean, despite himself, feels less like he’s gonna die, feels calm around the butterflies, and grounded despite his frantic heartbeat.

Cas takes the lead, he places Dean’s hands on his waist, he places his own on Dean’s shoulders and they start to sway.  It’s only then that Dean realizes that they’re slow dancing, at a dance, which is like a big deal.  Then he realizes what they’re slow dancing to and he snorts.

The Lion King?”

“I like the Lion King,” Cas counters, “and so do you…as I recall, you spent three weeks humming Hakuna Matata at every opportunity.”

“Yeah, yeah, don’t get cocky.”

Dean can’t shove him, because he’s got his hands on Cas’ waist, so he pinches Cas’ side instead, which causes him to yelp and squirm, ticklish bugger, and end up even closer to Dean, so that Dean can smell that Cas has put on cologne.

“Thanks for, ah, asking me to dance,” Dean says, with Cas’ face only inches from his, blue eyes sparking with laughter, “I don’t really know how.”

Cas ducks his head; his hair brushes Dean’s chin as he does so, and Dean’s heart starts beating like a Bug’s Bunny cartoon.

“I think you’re doing okay,” Cas says, still looking at his shoes, his arms are warm and heavy against Dean’s shoulders.

Dean isn’t sure why he does what he does next; it’s like he’s possessed, like Mufasa descended from the clouds and gave him a sacred order or some shit, but he takes one hand, and uses it to tilt Cas’ chin up, so that they’re eye to eye—that he’s done a million times before, but this—brushing his fingers against Cas’ cheek so that his eyes fly wide, and gently, quickly, leaning forward to press his mouth to Cas’—that is brand freaking new.  It lasts maybe a second, just a touch of his lips to Cas’, which are full, and cool, and slightly chapped, but, in that second, fireworks explode behind Dean’s eyes, and the butterflies in his stomach have a freaking rave, and his heart explodes into confetti, and when he pulls back, Cas looks exactly the way Dean feels, feaking gobsmacked and awesome.

“That was—” Cas starts.

“Awesome,” Dean finishes.

Cas grins bright and fucking happy, like that time Dean made him a lumpy chocolate birthday cake from scratch with “Happy Birthday Cas” written crooked in blue letters and Cas tackled him in a hug and almost cried.   While Dean is marveling at how fucking gorgeous he is, and that Cas should smile like that all the time, Cas leans forward and slots their mouths together again.  It is even more fucking awesome, the second time, and it definitely lasts more than a second.

Elton John is asking if they can feel the love tonight, and Dean is pretty sure that’s exactly what’s happening. If Cas holding his hand on his way to the impala, and shyly kissing him on the cheek before he clambers into his sister’s car is anything to go by, so he can feel it too.

I wanna die. Why shouldn't i? Help please...

01. Suicide is final.

Once you take your life, that’s it. You have only one life. End it - and you’re done. You will never, ever get a second chance. You would miss out on everything, all the possibilities, all the dreams, all the laughs, and the love, everything.

02. That special person.

The one who keeps you strong when nobody else does. The one who stands by you when everyone walks out. Imagine the pain, the sadness, the grief they would feel when you’re gone. Even if you don’t think you have a special person worth living for, you do. You just don’t know it yet. They need you as much as you need them. I’ve personally seen it, I’ve watched it. I’ve been to the suicide funeral of a friend, I still feel the gaping hole in my life a year later.

03. Death won’t relieve the pain.

Killing yourself will NOT be a relief to the suffering. When you’re dead, you’re nothing. You no longer exist. If you want relief from your suffering, you have to choose to live. You have to reach out and find the courage to make tomorrow better than today. Remember, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope and things will get better. You’re a strong person for living and you give me hope.

04. It will get better, I promise.

Remember, even the darkest hour only has 60 minutes. Stop focusing on the negatives, instead, look for the positive things in life. Even the teeniest tiniest little things that bring a little bit of life into your day.

05. All the memories, the laughs, the smiles and the hugs.

What if you end up being the one that finds the cure for cancer? Or the one that discovers life on Mars? Or the one that ends up with the most amazing spouse and family? How will you ever know your true potential if you’re not there to experience it. All the people you will never meet, all the lives you won’t touch, all the souls you won’t inspire. The future is a mystery; don’t you want to discover its secrets?

06. Sunrise.

Imagine never seeing bright yellow rays light up the dark sky again. Never feeling the warmth of the sun, never feeling the beauty of way the sky illuminates as it grows brighter and brighter until the whole heavenly expanse is enlightened.

07. Dancing in the rain.

And seeing the rainbow when it stops.

O8. Smiles.

A smile is a curve that sets things straight. Without you, the world will forever have so many less smiles; yours, your parents’, your friends’, teachers’, coworkers’, so many people will forget how to smile because your beautiful smile will be gone.

09. Music is a beautiful creation.

10. Hearing children laughing.

11. You are beautiful.

12. Your courage to live inspires me.

13. Look at the children in Africa who are starving. Look at earthquake and tsunami victims who have lost everything. Look at the person next to you. Doesn’t their courage to live, their optimism and their hope inspire you to do the same?

14. Lying beneath the stars at night and hearing crickets sing.

15. Waking up every morning and realising that it’s a new day.

16. Bubble baths.

17. Giving and receiving random compliments from strangers.

18. If you kill yourself, you will hurt so many people. Imagine how much guilt, grief and anguish you will cause your loved ones.

19. Life is beautiful. Make the most of it.

20. Stop thinking about what is wrong with your life and start thinking about the little things that make life great.

21. How will the person who finds you dead feel? Do you really want to put them through that?

22. Singing in the shower.

23. Looking out the window and seeing the gentle breeze sway the trees.

24. Friends.

25. Stay strong. You are special. You are precious. You have still have so much to give.

26. This is your story. Don’t end it so soon. Live it to the max and come out a fighter!

27. The taste of chocolate melting in your mouth.

28. If you kill yourself, you’ll just become another statistic. Choose to live and make a difference in this world.

29. All those words you still haven’t said yet.

30. Feeling the rain on your skin.

31. Fresh baked cookies.

32. Freshly mowed grass.

33. Breathing in, and breathing out.

34. Hearing the beat of your heart.

35. Enjoying the warm summer air.

36. Walking your dog in the crisp evening breeze.

37. Sipping a coffee and reading the morning newspaper.

38. You’re an amazing person. You’ve lived this long. That gives me hope. Remember, every second is precious. Make the most of it.

39. No one deserves to die. You were brought into this world to live. So LIVE!

40. I’m begging you not to. It would break my heart. No one deserves to die. No one.

50. Autumn leaves.

51. Cuddling under a blanket near the fire with hot tea.

99. Starbucks

100. Me

I love you.

I am always always always here. I know the feeling, believe me I do. But I can tell you it isn’t worth it, you’d miss more than it’s worth. I’ve seen the suffering, the family, the friends, everyone crying, the whole school in shock, the whole town flipped upside down. She didn’t deserve it, and you don’t either. Please remember that these are only 100 reasons to live, but there are an infinite number of reasons, and each day you will find more, they can be hard to find at a time like this, I realize that, but if each day you can find one thing, one reason, one person that gives you just enough to last that one more day then the next day maybe you’ll find two and so on. It takes time, but it will, I promise you, get better.

Wishing you all the joy under the sun and stars, stay strong and stay beautiful <3

THE ALBUM BEFORE THE HIATUS: One Direction “Made In The A.M.” Review

Yesterday, I was #blessed to have been able to attend an event called #1DFirstListen. Where I got to feel like a queen in a comfortable IMAX theater seat and listen to One Direction’s fifth and final album before their hiatus this coming year. I have been a One Direction fan since Liam had blonde in his hair. So basically 1987 in One Direction time. I was here when they were that cookie-cutter-take-me-home-to-your-mother band of boys. Now, although its been years since 1D’s very poppy music people just can’t seem to let them grow out of it, but let me tell you. THEY HAVE GROWN OUT OF IT. The album has incredibly classic sounding songs including some containing strings and bigger productions like anthemic hooks and choruses. A perfect stocking stuffer for that uncle you have who’s best joke is calling them gay. You’re hilarious Uncle Jonathan!!!! Keep em coming!!! What direction do gays walk in again????

So what has changed since the last album?

Creative Control: The boys wrote this album almost in entirety. Unheard of for a boy band. I hate calling them a boyband because of the connotations that come with it. THEY ARE A BOY BAND THOUGH! I LOVE A BOY BAND!

No Zayn- The biggest change of them all. The band is one member down, R.I.P. However, halfway through the album I was like Zayn who? lmao. It didn’t feel like there was someone missing, it just felt new. It felt exciting.  The band did an amazing job of splitting solos this album, speaking of that.

Louis Solo’s and Range- I am not a religious person but louis’ solos on this album make me believe that Jesus rose and he ran across that water without a problem. With the absence of Zayn it gave louis a chance (chonce lol) to showcase his incredibly unique and edgy voice even more. His range from the first album has significantly improved. Including a high note that made me turn into a puddle on the movie theater floor.

Very little Pop- I’m serious, the notorious pop one direction can’t seem to grow out of to the media is dead. The single “Perfect’ is really the only song that can be identified solely as a pop song. There were sounds from Paul Simon to Simon and Garfunkel to Coldplay to Neon Trees and even some sultrier beats carrying songs. The album has so many sounds yet sounds perfectly coherent and flows so nicely. Let’s take it track by track shall we?

                                           MADE IN THE A.M.

Hey Angel: Almost reminded me of Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles in the fact it is an upbeat song with a bit of a dark side lyrically. The song basically is a conversation you have with an “Angel” asking if they ever wish they were back on earth or alive like “me.” Written by Harry Styles it really makes you wonder. I absolutely love this track and think it sets up an amazing tone for the rest of the album.

In one word: depressinglybeautiful (just let me pretend it’s one word)

Stand out lyric: Oh I wish I could be more like you. Do you wish you could be more like me?”

Drag Me Down: The one you’ve probably heard on the radio. A fun fact I learned about this song is that the boys we’re actually really unsure about releasing it. “It just seemed too different” Liam Payne said, but he now is very happy they choose to release this as the first One Direction song in 1D A.Z. (After Zayn)

In one word: yes

Stand out lyric: “I got a river for a soul and baby you’re a boat”

Perfect: POPPY BEATS AND UNFORGETTABLE MELODIES, ONE DIRECTION HAS DONE IT AGAIN. This song is a smash. Harry explained it as “Obviously a love song.” saying, “But it’s more like do you wanna do a bunch of fun stuff with me?” This boy is looking for a no-strings attached type love. Fun, risky, secretive, it makes me want drive down the highway with my best friends screaming the lyrics out at the top of my lungs.

In one word: Rendezvous

Stand out lyric: “If you like cameras flashing every time we go out, oh yeah. If you’re looking for someone to write your break-up songs about, baby I’m perfect.”

Infinity: Louis and Harry have both called this song one of their favorites and an “epic song.” This song is very peaceful and is a great song to have a waltz at a wedding to. I imagine this playing at the wedding I will never have.

In one word: Love

Stand out lyric: “One step closer to being, two steps far from you”

End of the Day: EASILY the coolest song on the album. End of the Day was a song I knew from the beginning will be my favorite once the album is released. The song has parts where a cool beat comes in then it becomes huge anthem and it is hard to explain. It really is just a melting pot of so many different sounds. It feels like you’re listening to two different songs and you’re just going back and forth. The song also has a beautiful meaning of just being a dreamer and accepting that you actually really love the guy that sits behind you in your Writing class, so just ask him out!! (omg don’t follow any of my advice)

In one word: Favorite

Stand out lyric: “I said you’re on fire, babe” and “You follow your heart, even though it will break sometimes.”

If I Could Fly: The most beautiful ballad of One Direction’s Time this vulnerable song brings out sad Mr. Styles again. Written by Harry, who explained this song as just coming together easily and that it “Felt Natural.” The song basically is reassuring your lover that you are solely theirs and only have your eyes on them by letting all your emotions out.

In one word: Unconditional

Stand out lyric: “Right Now I’m Completely Defenseless”

Long Way Down: This song is sad, its all about love and the timing of love Liam explained it as “A relationship you want to work, but you’re just not ready for it.” It’s the whole wrong place wrong time scenario where you and someone seem to have everything, except a chance to actually stay like that. :( The lyrics match the music in a way that I can’t put into words correctly. It felt nostalgic. Songs like this remind me of Romeo and Juliet and WOW I HATE THAT LOVE STORY WHY COULDN’T IT HAVE WORKED OUT? WHY DID THEY HAVE TO BE DESTINED ENEMIES? JULIET CAPULET-MONTAGUE WOULD’VE BEEN A KICK ASS NAME, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT SHE GOT INSTEAD? SUICIDE.

In one word: Frustrating

Stand out lyric: “We built a Cathedral, but we never prayed”

Never Enough: Wow one direction are really utilizing the fact they are a foursome now, with this barber shop quartet-esque song. There is even a cool section of strings that can be heard in the background. Complete with du-ops and snapping. This song really just wants to make you get up and dance like no one is watching, or maybe dance like everybody is watching if you’re an “all eyes on you” type. Niall also called this song his favorite on the album.

In one word: Fun

Stand out lyric: “Lips so good, I forget my name”

Olivia: Solo Paul McCartney and a Young Beatles is the way I would explain this song. The song clearly has a very old influence. Harry says this song “Feels like a so much old stuff I love.” Styles wrote on this song as well, saying that he loved the fact this song will totally be seen as a love song for a girl named Olivia. However it is much more ambiguous then the title lets on, “Olivia could be a place” styles says in his very husky and slow voice.

In one word: Creative

Stand out lyric: “Live in my imagination, Summertime, butterflies, All belong to your creation”

What A Feeling:  WOW IS THIS COOL. This song is like if Fleetwood Mac and Aerosmith had a chill little baby. With an anthemic feel and really like really good lyrics this song takes you places. It feels like you just stepped into a cloudy room full of hippies that has those beads hanging in the doorway. I just picture a bunch of people holding hands and running through an endless field of flowers, marshmallows or corn, just great things like that. This is a peaceful rock song and the perfect song.

In one word: Cool

Stand out lyric: “What a feeling to be a king beside you, somehow"

Love You Goodbye: ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS LOUIS HIGH NOTE. JK, I have so much more to say about this song. Louis calls this song the “most personal” and for that reason it’s his favorite on the album. You can just feel it. He also said that it’s about that time when you break up with someone but you still have to see them. It’s basically saying, if this is the end of our relationship lets end it on a really good, passionate and angsty note. Again with the theme of a broken love story, why does One Direction hate me?

In one word: ANGST

Stand out lyric: “One more taste of your lips just to bring me back, to the places we’ve been and the nights we’ve had”

I Want to Write You a Song: With an ironic title this song is all about wanting the song you write for someone to be as beautiful as they are. Fully equipped with cute and panty dropping lyrics. It’s a very stripped song and throughout the entirety of it you can hear a pencil scribbling sound in the background. This song is cheesy, but in the best way.

In one word: cute

Stand out lyric: “I want to lend you my coat.” (equally cute and panty dropping)

History: An ode to One Direction fans everywhere, Louis called it a song about the relationship that we have built as fans and a band. It’s the song every fan who was worried about the hiatus being the end of the band. At one point louis even belts “This is not the end” three times, three times. THREE. With lyrics like “we could live forever” It shows the eternal side to all of this, one direction’s music will be alive for the rest of history. The fans stories will be told for decades and decades to come. One Direction isn’t going to be leaving our minds any time soon people. This song would be amazing live as the whole song has clapping in the background. #2017 #ICanSeeItAlready #ImReady

In one word: Adorable

Stand out lyric: “You and me gotta whole lot of history, we could be the greatest thing, that the world has ever seen.”

Temporary Fix: Niall wrote this one, saying he was going for a “Sex on Fire” vibe and boy is that what this song is. This song straight up sounds like it’s on a Neon Tree’s album. It’s about being a temporary fix for someone, a booty call, you can make their hotline bling even if it’s just for the night. This song is gritty and sexy. It’s the song you could just shake and jump like your back at the eighth grade dance and are too afraid to grind still.

In one word: sexy

Stand out lyric:  “Let me touch you where your heart is” ( and then what?;) )

Walking in the Wind: I’d like to title this, the one that got away but will always mean the world to you. With a James taylor-y guitar part and spoken word melodies this well-crafted masterpiece of a song is a bittersweet song to a lost friendship. Harry wrote it and said it was influenced by the album Graceland by Paul Simon, and boy is that influence evident. It’s about that friend you might have grown apart from or fell out with, but will always live in your heart. It’s a very I’m-not-sure-why-but-i’ll-still-always-be-here for you song. I personally see this as a song for the he who shall not be named, fallen brother of One Direction.

In one word: mellow

Stand out lyric: “Yesterday I went out to celebrate the birthday of a friend, but as we raised our glasses up to make a toast I realized you were missing.”

Wolves: “This song is when you’re at the bar and all these guys are trying it with your girl.” That was a quote from Liam who is letting us know that he is in fact the #JealousType, but he’s not gonna let all these hoes scare him off. It’s basically about having to deal with thirsty guys tryna come out here and be Mr. Steal Yo Girl. The song is really clever lyrically and creative. It is a fun and upbeat song as well, with a VERY catchy hook and chorus.

In one word: heated

Stand out lyric: “In the middle of the night when the wolves come out, heading straight for your heart.”

A.M.: This song Niall described as after a party when only your best friends are still over and you just sit and recap the night. He even says “If you can’t remember what happened at 2am, at least you’ll remember 6am because you’ll have sobered up by then” The nostalgic song makes me feel like if I had friends in high school this is what we would’ve done together. Just sitting around with your friends shit talking, enjoying the early hours of the A.M. Also this is first song with a swear in it. (Harry says asses, so does louis) (we got badasses over here everyone)

In one word: raw

Stand out lyric: “All my favorite conversations, always Made in the A.M.“ (CUE: and it all makes sense to me)

Overall, this is the best album they have made. You can hear in the music that this is the most they have cared and put into an album. Go pick it up in stores everywhere on NOVEMBER 13TH!!!!!!
