she gave her heart

I think that’s what her problem was, she gave her heart away to people too quickly and generously, she gave it to people who either didn’t intend to keep it or were scared, and when they ran away after breaking it, she would weep till she could weep no more, and repeat the entire cycle again.

The Tale of The Three Sisters

…who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight.

Though the sisters shared a name, they did not share a heart.

The eldest sister had a dark heart.

She relished in cruelty and pain, in the power it gave her.

The second sister had a rebellious heart.

She believed in love, hoping it would grant her the freedom she was desperate for.

The third and youngest sister had a wise heart.

She was strong, but reserved, and knew when to be silent.

There were once three sisters who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight.

To be continued…

“It’s been over a year since my divorce. I’d been married for fifteen years. I was pretty beaten down. Some days I would feel so lonely that I couldn’t even sleep. A friend of mine from work told me to download a dating app. I tried for a long time but nobody was answering me. It was making me feel worse. I wanted to delete it but my friend convinced me to keep trying. Then on January 28th, I saw her picture and gave her a ‘heart.’ And she sent me a message. I said: ‘Wow, this is really happening.’ It’s like she’s an angel who came from heaven to bring light to my life. I love my chocolate bonbon.”

everyone wanted the full story of my kitten Cato who died and came back to life!! So!!

She’s about 4-5 months old, so she was going to be spayed; but when they gave her anesthesia, her heart stopped. They did cat cpr right away, and she came back. They don’t know why it happened; it was likely a reaction to the anesthesia. But she’s totally fine. There’s nothing wrong with her. It’s rly weird especially bc when this happens to cats they usually end up blind temporarily.

That is the story of my kitten Cato, also known as Jesus cat.

Kiss Already - Archie Andrews

Request: From the prompt list can I request 10. and 48 with Archie Andrews? 💕💕

AAA this is my first Archie Andrews >.< I thought I’d give it a go! :) I went for less dramatic/descriptive and I really like it so yaaay

Words: 2,113

10: “Why don’t they just kiss already?”

48: “Is there a special reason, as to why you’re wearing my shirt?”

“Tell him, tell him, tell him, tell him,” Veronica and Betty chanted in your ear, causing you to roll your eyes. You were currently sitting in the student lounge, your two best friends at your side, trying to pass the time. The conversation had started casually, talking about online shopping and food. Somehow though, after just a few minutes, the conversation had drifted towards your unavoidable crush on Archie Andrews.

You and Archie had been best friends since you pushed him over in the sandpit when you were 4. You couldn’t exactly remember why you did it, or why he wanted to be your friend afterwards but you were glad that everything had turned out the way it had. The two of you were inseparable, constantly going to one another for support, advice or general banter.

You weren’t entirely sure when your feelings had truly developed into something more than platonic interest, but it was killing you inside currently to spend casual time with him, when you really just wanted to cuddle with him in your arms, to be his girl. You’d even put yourself through supporting Betty when she tried to confess her own feelings, but Archie had turned her down and it had temporarily destroyed her. You didn’t want the same thing to happen to you, you didn’t want to ruin the friendship that you treasured more than Pop’s burgers.

Betty had found out though. You thought she would be mad at you, think you were going behind her back, but she had just squealed and instantly named herself ‘your personal Cupid’, along with Veronica, much to your dismay. Now everywhere you looked was just a reminder that you weren’t with the boy you loved.

Veronica and Betty had noticed you staring at him in the student lounge, whilst he talked to Jughead. They were now poking you and teasingly chanting words of encouragement in your ear, pretending they were creations of your mind, your conscience telling you to make a move. They even started singing “Kiss The Girl” from The Little Mermaid, but replacing the word ‘girl’ with ‘ginger’.

“Can you not?!” You groaned loudly , burying your face in your hands. When you looked back up, Jughead and Archie were staring at you and your face instantly flushed bright red with embarrassment.

As a way to ‘apologise’ Betty had offered for you to come round to her house for a sleepover and binge junk food with her whilst watching chick flicks. You needed to take your mind off of Archie before you went mad.

You were currently sitting in her lounge, waiting for her to return with a selection of DVD’s for the evening, for such a simple task she was taking an awfully long time. Suddenly she rushed into the room, her eyes lit with that mischief that always sent you into a state of nervous paranoia. That look meant she was planning something devious.

She walked up to you slowly, her hand on her heart in mock sadness, as she gave an exaggerated sniffle. You groaned as you got off of the sofa and turned yourself to face her.

“What happened?” You rolled your eyes at her and she let out another obvious pretend sigh.

“Polly needs me,” Betty picked up her handbag from the coffee table, “So you can’t stay, I’m so so so sorry!”

At this moment, Veronica Lodge casually strolled through the door.

“Ready to go Bets?” She smirked, waving her car keys around before waving at you. You cocked your eyebrow, staring back and forth between your two best friends.

“Sure Ronnie, be there in a sec,” Betty smiled at her girlfriend before turning back around to you. “It’s a sister emergency so I have to go RIGHT NOW, but don’t worry! I found a last minute replacement so it’s all good,” She grinned. Suddenly you heard another pair of footsteps enter the house.

“The door was open,” Archie’s voice came round the corner of Betty’s hallway as he walked into the room, where you were trying not to cringe and the others were trying not to squeal.

“Byeeeee (Y/N)!” Betty chirped in a sing-song voice before grabbing Veronica’s arm and racing out the house.

The door slammed shut and you and Archie stayed there for a minute in awkward silence before he decided to speak up.

“Betty told me you needed cheering up for some reason, but she was busy. She thought that considering I live next door and we’re best friends, I could take her place,” He explained, and you just nodded in response. You walked next door to Archie’s house and settled down in his room. You sat on the end of his bed and he sat on a chair in the other corner. You weren’t used to being so awkward around him, but you just couldn’t find the words to say. You were smitten and it made you tongue-tied.

“Hey, you know I said that we’re best friends?” Archie got off of the chair and sat down on the bed, scooting close to you and taking your hand. You nodded, tensing up at the physical contact.

“We’re still like that right? Recently you’ve been so distant and I just thought, maybe you didn’t want to be around me anymore. Especially with the whole recent events with Miss Grundy and my music… I’ve just been so scared of how people see me and I don’t know what I’d do if I lost you,” He let it all out and you felt your face blush crimson. Somewhere in your brain was telling you that he had just friend zoned you, but you were also analysing his words for secret messages. Maybe he cared so much about what you thought because he liked you back? Maybe he missed you? Maybe and most likely you were making a mountain out of a mole hill…

You noticed he was waiting for your response and you cleared your throat before smiling up at your best friend. “Of course we are Archie, I totally support you and your music, you’ve just been under stress recently and I understand that. Love you okay” You were kicking yourself for this new found confidence. ‘Love you okay?’ What was that?! You rested your head on his shoulder, trying not to cringe as he tensed up. You let out a breath though, as he relaxed and wrapped his arms around you.

Originally, you planned to stay the night. You didn’t have any PJ’s though, so Archie decided to be a gentleman and offered you some of his own clothes. You wore a pair of shorts and a plain grey sweater that was large and baggy on you, causing Archie to chuckle. He stepped back and looked at you in awe. You caught him staring and suddenly felt self-conscious.

“W-what?” You stammered, trying to angle your body so you were facing away from him, he just shook his head and smiled.

“You just… uh, you look really cute in my clothes,” He stared down at the ground smiling and your eyes widened, heart fluttering inside.

Eventually, your plan had a last minute change. Fred Andrews came home from work early for the day, and told you with a guilty face that you couldn’t stay round tonight, as he had to have a long talk with Archie. You respected them enough not to ask what it was about, although you were a bit curious. Archie had given you an apologetic hug and had promised to make proper plans with you in the near future.

In a rush to give them their space, you left quickly, gathering your stuff together and heading home before you Skyped your Cupid’s.

They were pleased to hear you’d made progress, but disappointed in that there was no kiss or exchange of romantic words… yet.

“(Y/N) (L/N) you have 10 seconds to get up before I kick you out the door,” Your mum scolded loudly. You sat up and rubbed your eyes, squinting at the morning sunlight that streamed through your blinds.

“What Mum?” You groaned, throwing a pillow at her. She threw it right back at you.

“Fifteen minutes until school starts and you’re not even out of bed! Hurry up!” She opened your blinds fully, so that the sunlight shone directly at you, waking you up properly. The words your mum said slowly registered in your mind before you began to panic and fell out of bed. Your mum rolled her eyes, leaving you to get ready.

You still needed to do your hair, teeth, makeup and grab something to eat on the way to school for breakfast. You didn’t have the effort in you to care about what you were wearing, so you slid on a pair of jeans and khaki converse. You sniffed your armpit, realising that whatever you had on your top half smelt pretty good so probably didn’t need to be changed. It smelt like safety and comfort… if that was possible… something so familiar. Oh well.

You rushed out the door, yelling a ‘thanks’ and ‘goodbye’ to your mum as she chuckled at you.

You’d made it to school with 2 minutes to spare. You leaned against your locker, trying to catch your breath as you wheezed. You hadn’t ran or even exercised properly in a long time and the rush was finally taking its toll on you. Despite the fact that your best friend and long term crush was a great athlete, with the body to show it, you just weren’t exactly in shape.

Turns out the rush was pretty much a waste anyway, as you had a free period first and the whole hallway was disrupted by the sound of you kicking your locker door in frustration, before facepalming and running off to the student lounge.

“Operation Smoochie is a go,” Veronica looked dead serious as she explained yet another plan on how to get Archie to kiss you. You just stared at her bewildered.

“Smoochie?” Jughead raised an eyebrow skeptically.

“Well it can either be taken as an extended word for smooch, or combining both the word ‘smooch’ and ‘Archie’,” She tapped her temple, everyone else gave her doubtful looks. Betty supportively rubbed Veronica’s back but shook her head at her, as if to make it clear that nobody thought ‘Operation Smoochie’ was appropriate. The plan itself didn’t even seem like it could work.

“Well do you guys have any suggestions? A plan? A name? I’m all ears. This has been driving me up the wall ever since I got to this damn town (Y/N), YOU need to sort this out,” Veronica flopped back into the sofa, defeated.

“Sort what out?” Archie came up behind you, placing his hands on your shoulders and causing you to jump and squeal. He laughed as he took a seat on the armrest next to you.

“Her… girls night sleepover plan… it’s been in the making for a long time and she’s yet to get properly organised,” Betty saved you, and you sighed in relief, smiling at her thankfully as she winked at you. You all turned back to Archie, who as staring at you intensely, irresponsive. You blushed under his gaze and waved your hand in front of his face, as if to snap him out of his trance.

“Andrews, is there a special reason as to why you’re staring at me,” You laughed it off, as all your friends sat back and observed the exchange.

Is there a special reason as to why you’re wearing my shirt?” Archie retorted, gesturing towards the grey sweater. You felt your jaw drop as you realised this was the sweater Archie had given you to wear last night. That’s why it had smelt so familiar and sweet. Both of you were blushing and Betty and Veronica were grasping at each other’s arms, trying to contain themselves from running around excitedly like 3 year olds.

“I didn’t even realise,” You timidly smiled up at Archie and he smiled back at you… almost lovingly? He shook his head and slung his rucksack over his shoulder.

“I have to go to last minute football practice, come watch?” He extended his hand hopefully to you and you took it, standing up from the sofa and linking your arm through his. You left the student lounge, talking amongst yourselves and laughing in your own little world.

Veronica sighed dreamily. “Why don’t they just kiss each other already?” She whined and the rest of your group nodded in agreement. It was inevitable, you two would have to kiss at some point, especially if Veronica had anything to say about it.

What This Family Does

My own fix-it fic - written before 6x17, but I didn’t publish it before. Slightly canon divergent, but not much… Killian comes back from Neverland, and Snowing are awake already. I felt Killian deserved a little more than just being forgiven.

title: What This Family Does

summary: Killian comes back from Neverland, and some things should not be swept under the rug.

rating: a very tame T - and F for lots and lots of forgiveness… because that’s what this family does, after all.

When he’s finally back in their home, weariness settles into his bones as he sinks on the couch.

Staring into the fire that’s crackling against the crispy cold outside, his mind starts to drift, and he thinks back to the moment he was about to burn the dreamcatcher with his awful memories. Without even noticing, Killian runs his hand over his face and sighs.

David didn’t murder him, not even punch him in the face, on the contrary – he showed what looked like genuine relief, maybe even joy when he finally managed to return to Storybrooke, the bloody Crocodile’s offspring’s curse broken. But he knows there will come the moment – sooner than later, probably – when they’ll have to have a serious talk about the disastrous events that took place all those years ago, in that night he ran his vicious blade through a completely innocent man and destroyed yet another family.  In fact, destroying families and orphaning guiltless children seems to be his specialty.

But… he reminds himself that this is in the past, and he has finally made his peace with the fact that his past doesn’t define him. What does define him are his actions and his choices, the man he is now: the man who managed to defy the darkness of Excalibur, the man who stands up for his loved ones, the man who helps justice to be done, curses to be broken and families and lovers to find each other again. The man he is now – he knows and accepts it, that man deserves love, he deserves trust and he deserves a happy ending. And if he has to work a little harder for that, then he’ll do it. He’ll do whatever it takes to set things right with David, his best friend aside from Emma, and he’ll do what he must to prove himself to her, show her that he does have trust in her and their love. He can only hope that it is enough to make her believe in him again and trust in their relationship enough to make her want to be his wife.

“Y/N!” Turning with a bright warming smile, you came face to face with the one and only Reggie Mantle. At the sight of his tall structure running towards you, you felt yourself blush but quickly pushed it away, not wanting him to see.

“Hi Reggie.” You greeted warmly when he reached you, leaning against your locker he smiled cockily over at you and you shook your head. None of this was weird. Since you’d move to Riverdale Reggie had made his obvious interest towards you known and was always hanging by your side.

When you’d first come to this school, you’d been confronted by Veronica and Betty who had kindly started talking to you when they saw you alone. That in turn allowed you to start hanging out with them, Archie and Jughead. They were some of the best friends you could ask for.

But after a week or so, Reggie had come up to you and sweet talked you with some cheesy pick-up line. You’d never been so openly flirted with and you’d never really had a boyfriend before so his comments made you easily blush and flustered. Though before anything more could happen, Archie had found you and dragged you off, saying that Reggie wasn’t exactly the guy you should be spending all your time with.

But despite his warnings, you couldn’t help but look back and realize how attractive he was. He was built and tall, way taller than you, and he was undoubtedly attractive. That was when you realized your slowly growing affections for the boy and from that day on it grew.

Luckily for you, Archie’s interruption that day didn’t stop from Reggie walking up to you the next day and doing the same thing. From then on Reggie walked you to classes, hung out with you during lunch whenever he could, teased you in and out of classes and always invited you to his games.

You acted as if it annoyed you, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like it.

“You going to Veronica’s party tonight?” Snapping out of your musings, you blinked turning up and looking at Reggie. He was grinning down at you, and you couldn’t help but feel your cheeks warm ever so slightly. Damnit, you had it hard for this guy.

“Uh… I don’t know. Not really my scene.” He pouted and you couldn’t help but notice how cute he looked.

“Aweh!” He whined, stepping forward he placed his hands on each side of you and started to tickle. You giggled, but noticed how every one had already left seeing as it was the end of the day, and mentally thanked so no one heard how loud you were.

“Stop!” You whined, giggles breaking through. Reggie laughed,  “not until you agree to come to this party.”

“Fine!” You yelled; “fine! Fine! i’ll go!” You let out a heavy breath when his relentless fingers finally left your sides. He chuckled; “see all you needed was some convincing.” He smirked.

You rolled your eyes, sighing. Closing your locker you turned to face him and despite how shy you were you couldn’t help but asked; “why do you even want me to come that bad?” You asked curious, your question must have thrown Reggie off as he jerked his head back and paused ever so slightly.

His shock didn’t last long though as he quickly smiled again and poked your stomach. You grumbled, swatting his hand; “you already know why Y/N.” Was all he said before walking off. You stared at his retreating back and couldn’t help but stare longingly; “I’ll see you at the party!”

What the hell did that mean?”

Nervously you walked through the doors to Veronica’s house, the rooms and halls already packed with people. You couldn’t help but notice the already drunk boys laying on the ground and the chatting girls as you walked through. You weren’t exactly sure why you agreed to come, well besides being harassed to do so.

But parties most definitely weren’t your scene and you felt super self conscious walking through the crowds of people as you tried not to get shoved down.

You looked around for Reggie but sadly couldn’t find him, so settled on standing in the kitchen by the island and staring at whatever drinks were in front of you, trying to find one that didn’t hold alcohol in it.

“Hey! Y/N!” Turning, you saw Veronica across the hall a bit, waving at you. You grinned at the familiar face and waved back; “glad you could make it!” She called and you laughed nodding. Part of hoping she would come over to you, but you noticed how she was dancing with Kevin, and she looked like she was having a lot of fun. Sighing, you played around with your empty cup, staring mindlessly.

Suddenly arms wrapped around your waist and hauled you off the ground, you let out a tiny scream as big arms picked your feet off the ground. “Hey!” You called, not knowing who was behind you. Suddenly you were set on the ground but the arms around your waist stayed there and hugged you tight against the mans chest; “glad you came.” He whispered in your ear and you instantly recognize the voice.

Turning in his arms, you slapped Reggie on the chest. “You scared me half to death!” You lectured him.

He chuckled, “sorry but… I am glad you know.” He smiled.

“That I came?”

“Of course. Thought you wouldn’t show.” you suddenly blushed, as you brushed a piece of hair behind your ear and stared down at the arms that were still wrapped around your waist.

“Yeah well… Veronica’s my friend so…”

“Oh…” Reggie said, and his arms came off from around your waist. Suddenly realizing what you said, you grabbed Reggie’s arm and tried to fight down your blush, smiling up at him. “But of course, i’m always happy to see you.” The frown that had marred his face easily disappeared and he grinned again, more confidently this time.

“I thought I annoyed you?” He teased.

You laughed, fiddling with your hair; “not all the time.”

Reggie opened his mouth to speak again, comfortably setting himself next you but suddenly a voice called out; “Reggie!” The both of you turned, seeing Moose waving you both over. “We’re playing a game, come join!” You turned to each other, questioning the other before laughing and walking over.

The living room was full and you walked in, noticing Reggie be-lining for the last spot on the couch. You sighed, walking across him to head to the edge of the couch to sit on before hands grabbed your hips and set you down on a lap. Blushing madly, you turned and saw Reggie grinning up at you.

Leaning over, he set his head on your shoulder; “what you’d think i’d let you stand?” He whispered into your ear and you felt yourself blush even more madly. Everyone could see you which only allowed the embarrassment to set further in.

“Yeah! Reggie getting some!” Chuck yelled and you hid your face in your hands. Reggie laughed and finally peeking through your fingers you noticed the bottle set on the table before you. You let your eyes drift higher, and not surprisingly Veronica stood directly in front of you with a smirk on her face. Despite your seating predicament, you knew something was up.

“Veronica…” You spoke.

“So glad you and Reggie could make it Y/N!” She cheered, clapping but you could tell by the smirk on her face she was up to something. Turning, you caught eye of Betty and looked at her questioningly, she only shook her head with a small smile.

“So! Everyone I say we indulge ourselves in a little game of ‘Seven Minutes’ In Heaven’” she clapped and suddenly you felt your heart drop. You gave her a warning look but she only laughed.

With that Veronica spun the bottle, it landed on various different people but you barely paid attention. What with Veronica’s scheming eyes and Reggie’s arms around your waist and the fact that you were sitting on his lap, you found it a little hard. It wasn’t until the bottle undoubtedly landed on you or Reggie, whoever that you felt your heart beat pick up.

“Oooh! Y/N it’s landed on you!” Betty cheered and you narrowed your eyes at your two best friends.

“I vote that you go in with Reggie.” There it was, the final words.  You blushed again and you cursed your innocence. There was cheer and suddenly you were standing, Reggie’s hands on your waist.

“Sounds good to me.” He grinned, mentally thanking Veronica.

“I’m not too sure…” You trailed off but Veronica ‘tsked’, “you played the game Y/N and these are the rules.”

Veronica helped push you into the closet and before you could even think you were in a closet with Reggie, the door locked behind you. You couldn’t help but blush and you fiddled with your fingers, a nervous energy radiating off of you. There was moments of silence before Reggie’s hand came in front of you and he poked you in the familiar spot that was your nose.

“Don’t be so nervous, Y/N.” He reassured.

You laughed, trying to play it off but failing miserably. “Nervous? Psshhh, not me.” You chuckled nervously.

Reggie chuckled too and silence fell over the both of you.

“Hey Y/N?” Reggie suddenly called and you looked up at him, intently focusing on him. “What do you think of me?”

“Hmm? What do you mean?”

“Well, would you ever consider dating me?” You froze, unsure on how to answer. You opened your mouth to speak but paused, unsure and confused.

“I-I…-” A hand grabbed your face and pulled you against lips. You froze, shocked but eventually returned the kiss and smile against his lips. He grabbed your waist with his other hand and you let your hands press against his chest as he kissed you deeply.

Pulling away, he smiled down at you, suddenly nervous. “I’ve liked you for a long time… I hope you return my feelings?”

“Yes…” you whispered, still in a daze.

“Yes? As in you like me…?”

“Yes I like you!” You smiled and he grinned down, you pressed a kiss against his cheek and were about to deepen the kiss before you heard Veronica; “times up, do you guys need another hour or?” You blushed heavily as Reggie chuckled.

“Veronica!”

Okay, another prompt is here! Sorry for not updating sooner, it’s a long fic once again lol! It is sad, angsty (I was listening to a lot of Placebo while writing so yeah) and it turns hot and heavy close to the end but then some fluff concludes it; basically it has it all! :P
Warning for mentions of violence, mild language and sexual themes. I hope you like it darlings and you don’t mind that I combined your awesome prompt ideas! Thank you so much for requesting! And to the rest of you, enjoy! <3

A small summary to tie the three prompts together: After an abrupt break up, Betty is left broken and confused by Jughead’s sudden behavior. Once finding out that he had joined the infamous gang of their small town, the Southside Serpents, Betty sets her mind to sneak into their lair with the only way she knows best. Along with the help of a sudden ally that she comes across on the way, they vow to save Jughead’s soul at all costs.

(The long dialog in italics is a flashback)

Stars hide your fires;

Let not light see my black and deep desires.

The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be

Which the eye fears, when it is done, to see…

The black velvet of yet another eerie night had spread over the small town of Riverdale, the otherwise picturesque scenery of the alight sky now fearful and pitch black, an ominous sign and a bloodcurdling setting. It coordinated with her jet leather attire, her raven hair and the ghastly temperament that oozed from the cold-blooded sound of heels against dirty and wet asphalt. “Stars hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires…” Every click of stiletto punctuated each word her mind whispered on a loop to the depths of her subconscious, green eyes shining deadly through the darkness, like those of a wolf in hunt for its prey.

If anyone were to run into her on the street, they wouldn’t recognize her; nothing tied her with the image of the nonpareil younger daughter of the Cooper clan. Betty Cooper was dead, locked in the comfort of lavender and chamomile amongst collared sweaters and preppy knitted cardigans. For how long it was yet to be decided but, for tonight, the golden-hearted girl that everyone left behind was put to sleep under the naivety of false ambition and hopeless dreams. Her alter ago was there to deal with the mess the tedious angelic spectrum of her character always seemed to make.

Prompt: Castle falls asleep on Beckett's chest.

Post 4x04, Kick The Ballistics.

-

She hated for him to see her broken, raw and trembling and overwhelmed with inner demons, but part of her had been grateful for the one time she had let him. In her own apartment, during an unexpected panic attack a couple of weeks ago, he had touched the shaking bone of her shoulder, murmured comforting words, relatable words.

I know, Kate, I know. I have them too.

She hadn’t necessarily believed that, couldn’t picture Rick Castle enduring the torturous episode of a panic attack, but he hadn’t been lying to her.

The return of Jerry Tyson had rattled him, she knew that, and ever since the heartbreak she had caused him throughout the summer, their partnership had been a bit more tentative. Her shooting, those words she isn’t supposed to remember, still looming over them, she knew that too. Castle was under a lot of stress, probably dealing with a good dose of emotional turmoil, but that knowledge hadn’t prepared her for his mother to call her in quiet distress, worried over her son and unsure of what else to do.

“This has happened before, once not long after the divorce with Meredith, when he was under so much pressure,” Martha had babbled, her voice a contradiction of calm and factual, frantic and fearful. “And I know he doesn’t like for anyone to see him like this. But I could hear him when I went to let him know I was leaving and he just sounded so - so grief stricken, and I just can’t not-”

“I’m on my way,” Kate had promised his mother, already changing directions, turning away from the entrance of the subway that would take her home and towards the sidewalk instead, hailing a cab that would get her to his loft quicker. “Just ten minutes, I’ll be there.”

“I’ll leave the door unlocked for you, darling.”

Martha had stuck true to her word and after impatiently riding the elevator to the top floor of his building, Kate is able to stride inside the loft, take the path to his office without a second thought. Her fingers pause over the handle to his bedroom door, though, apprehension flaring in her stomach. She’s never been inside his bedroom and it isn’t her right to just barge in.

“I’ll be out in just a moment, Mother,” he calls out when she knocks, and he’s a skilled actor, talented in the roles he plays for those he doesn’t allow inside, but she can still hear the slight quiver in his voice.

“Not your mom, Castle,” she calls back, hearing nothing but silence on the other side of the door for a split second before his footsteps rush towards her.

The door swings open and despite the smile he musters for her, she can see the cracks in his exterior.

“Beckett, to what do I owe the pleasure of an unexpected visit?” he quips. “And how did you get in here?”

“Your mom let me in while she was on her way out.” Technically, it was true. “I thought after everything with this case and 3XK… I thought you could use some company.”

His eyes ripple with surprised delight, gentle appreciation, and she wishes she would have thought to come to him sooner, to care enough to check on him without his mother having to inform her of his current state.

“I - that’d be great. Have you eaten?”

“No,” she admits, biting her bottom lip when Castle steps out of his office, his hand rising to glance the small of her back before it quickly falls away. She misses the warmth of his palm without even having the chance to experience it. “Have you?”

“I was just about to,” he lies, the grin stretched across his lips charming but strained, enough for her to see through.

She doesn’t comment on it, doesn’t try to bring up what she knows is bothering him, but she does stick close to his side in the kitchen, helping him heat up leftover pasta that smells divine despite its time in the fridge. She sits beside him on the couch while they eat, engages in the comfortable small talk, the silence that falls between bites yet never becomes awkward. Not with him.

“How’re you holding up?” Kate finally asks after he’s set his bowl down on the coffee table in front of them, taken the last sip of the red wine he had poured in matching glasses for them. She still nurses hers between her palms.

Castle tilts his head at her in feigned confusion. “What do you mean?”

“Rick,” she murmurs, watching him physically deflate, sighing out in defeat as his shoulders slump, his lips falling into a frown and his eyes going dull, and she stretches forward to deposit her wine glass on the table beside his.

“I’m okay,” he states with a shrug. “Not even sure why it bothers me so much. Ryan is the one who went through hell during this case.”

“What Tyson did to you both was equally traumatizing-“

“Trauma?” Castle scoffs, shaking his head at her. “I didn’t - there’s no trauma, Kate. I’m fine. I just - I guess this case had me afraid that Tyson would step up his game, come after us, people I care about.”

“We never would have let him come after Martha or Alexis,” she swears to him, hoping the knowledge that he had an entire precinct ready to protect his family if need be would provide him with comfort, but she watches his lips purse instead.

“And you?”

Kate shifts on the sofa to face him, her brow creasing with confusion. “Me?”

Castle scrapes a hand through his hair and averts his eyes, looks as if he’s about to rise, take a page from her book and make a run for it, so she drapes her hand atop his knee, effectively stays him.

“I can’t protect you,” he gets out without meeting her eyes. “Couldn’t protect you. I wouldn’t have been able to stop Tyson if he had-“

“Castle, stop,” she breathes, her fingers clenching hard over the bone of his knee.

“And I know you don’t need my protection, but I can’t - God, I can’t lose you again, Beckett,” he confesses, his head in his hands and his body curling in on itself, protecting himself. From her. “Not like that.”

“You’re not,” Kate chokes out, the terrible grief clogging her throat, knotting in her chest beneath the bullet scar that consumes her sternum, consumes everything.

She’s close enough to drop her forehead to the rounded bone of his shoulder, the scent of his aftershave drifting up to greet her, embrace her, and she inhales a deep breath of it, of him, and swallows down her own anguish, focuses on Castle’s.

His spine is stiff, his entire frame rigid beneath the foreign proximity she offers, and Kate reaches for one of the hands fisted in his hair. He lets her have it without resistance, his head turning towards her to watch as she cradles his fingers in her palm, strokes her thumb along his knuckles.

“You’re not,” she repeats, feeling the intensity of his gaze resting on her, searing through her. “I’m still here, Castle,” she whispers, drawing his palm to her chest, up to her heart.

The harsh intake of his breath shudders through them both, but he allows her to keep his hand flat against her sternum, her heart galloping to meet his palm, crashing against the cage of her ribs to feel the warmth of his skin seeping through her shirt.

She couldn’t return his confessions of love, not yet, not with words, but she could offer him this - reassurance in whatever form he needed. She could let him hold onto her heart before she gave it over completely.

“Kate,” he whispers back, but she doesn’t answer, her forehead still sealed to his shoulder, a new favorite place of rest, one where she’s content to remain.

And that’s what they do for a long while - remain. His hand cradled to her chest, her forehead to his shoulder, and his body beginning to lean into hers as time passes.

“Don’t go,” Castle sighs out, his hand going slack beneath hers, and she controls the descent of his fist to her side before she attempts to rise from the sofa. “Beckett-“

“Shh, let’s get you to bed, Castle,” she murmurs, squeezing his bicep before she stands, tugs him up with her. “I’ll stay a little while longer.”

That earns a surprised quirk of an eyebrow despite his drowsy state, the exhaustion from the panic attack that had caused his mother to dial her number, from the pasta and the wine that has even her eyes feeling heavy, from the thought of losing her - all of it overtaking.

He shuffles towards his bedroom with her at his side, his warmth like a magnet she fails to stray from, her body easing onto the edge of his bed even as he plops down. Her mind is in turmoil, red flags and alarm bells plaguing every inch of her skull, but her heart beats hard and fervent behind the walls that bind it, keep it from the man lying next to her on the bed.

“You really don’t have to stay,” he mumbles around a yawn, offering her a reassuring smile, the one he often uses to comfort her, calm her, and they may still be waiting, but that doesn’t mean she can’t stick around, take care of him a little longer, whether he needs her or not. God knows he would do the same for her without hesitation.

“Just for a few minutes,” she replies, easing down onto her side, facing him, and holding her breath as he reaches out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

“Kate,” he murmurs, his fingers traveling to stroke up and down her spine, eliciting shivers and streaks of heat all at once, sending her eyes fluttering shut. “Thank you.”

They peel open at that.

“Always,” she returns, watching the blue of his eyes burn so brightly in the darkness of his bedroom before his lashes fall shut to hide the need she recognizes coming to life.

She falls asleep mere moments after she watches his eyes close for a final time, after she trains the rise and fall of her chest to the steady rhythm of his breathing beside her.

-

The next time Kate wakes, it’s late in the night and her eyes are thick with sleep, her chest heavy with the weight atop the frame of her ribs, the press of his cheek to her sternum, his ear at her heart. It should hurt, her muddled brain muses, the pressure atop her gunshot wound, but the seal of his cheek to her sternum does the opposite.

He anchors her.

It should terrify her too, but she blinks through the grit of her slumber to catch a glimpse of his face, slack and at peace, innocent and untouched by the grief she had passed onto him. She’ll dislodge him before morning, probably be out of his loft before he even awakens, but for now, Kate combs her fingers through his hair, sighs quietly when he tightens the arm around her waist and nuzzles gently, his nose grazing her collarbone.

This is what she’s working so hard for, trying to be better for, what they’re both waiting for. But for tonight, she erases her shooting from her mind, dispels thoughts of Jerry Tyson and the ache in Castle’s eyes when he’d said he couldn’t protect her, and gives him the beat of her heart, the drum of reassurance beneath his ear. For tonight, she allows them both a much needed rest.

“You have to hug Onii-chan for ten seconds!”

Kaneki coughs, touching the back of his head.

“W-What?”

One of the boys drags the girl by the arm, trying to stop her.

“I told you this was a bad id—”

“You have to hug!” she ignores her friend and walks towards Touka, pushing her from the back against Kaneki.

“A-Ah! Wait!”

Work It Out

In which Eric Bittle officially comes out to his Mama.

Read on Ao3

It was only hours into Christmas vacation and the Bittle Family’s quaint, sunshine yellow kitchen was already overflowing with every kind of pie-like confection imaginable. Apple. Cherry. Rhubarb. You name it, and it was probably perched on one of the many crowded windowsills.

This increased state of pie productivity was due in part to the fact that the elder Bittle had missed her son/best friend/partner in sugary crime something fierce while he was away at college, but it was mostly just because Eric himself was more nervous than he’d ever been in his whole life.

Today was the day. Today was the day he would tell her about Jack.

Vegas – Cody Christian Imagine

Requested: No. It was just an idea I had after seeing Cody’s photos from his Vegas trip.

Warnings: Feeling insecure

Word Count: 2,307

Author’s Note: I know I’ve already done a Cody x Reader are best friends who have feelings for each other but I couldn’t help myself with this one. Feedback is always appreciated :)

[My Teen Wolf Master List]

“Y/N! I’m home!” Cody yelled as he walked into his best friend’s apartment with his key.

“Crap,” she mumbled under her breath as she quickly grabbed a protein bar and her pre workout drink in the kitchen. She knew what time Cody was coming back from his birthday bash weekend in Vegas and after seeing the pictures he posted on his Instagram, and the ones he privately sent to her, she was hoping she wouldn’t be home when he got back.

Y/N and Cody had been best friends for years, long before Cody’s career as an actor took off. She never thought she had feelings for him in a romantic kind of way until she saw the pictures from this weekend. Cody celebrated his birthday late with the boys around beautiful women who wore small bikinis that showed off their Greek goddess bodies. She didn’t know how else to explain the sudden jealousy or insecure thoughts she had. She tried to fool herself into thinking that she was just worried another girl would swoop in and steal her best friend, but she knew she was lying to herself.

“There you are,” Cody smiled as soon as he saw Y/N in the kitchen. “I called out for you. Didn’t you hear me?”

“Yes, I’m sorry. I’m just trying to get all my stuff because I’m actually on my way out,” she slung her gym bag over her shoulder and ignored the sad look Cody gave her.

“But I just got home,” Cody’s bottom lip pushed forward. Y/N looked at him and wanted to push that bottom lip back in because she knew she would stay if he kept giving her his puppy eyed look.

She gave all she had

She opened her mind but instead he opened her legs. She gave her heart, body and soul to a boy who could not and would not love her the way she deserved.

—  t.i // She now mistakens sex for love, she has been blinded of her self worth.
Voicemails

She sat on the sofa watching something that she had no interest in when her phone rang from the armrest. She peered at the phone, eyebrows furrowing once she saw the caller I.D.

It was him – Harry.

She didn’t want to pick the phone up so she waited til the call ended. It felt like minutes although it was seconds, realistically.

She didn’t pick up the phone because she didn’t know how to talk to him, she didn’t want to hear his voice.

Ever since their break- up,she avoided everything Harry related, whether it be his song on the radio or him appearing on her social media dash. She did attempt to listen to ‘Sign Of The Times’ but after he first sang ’just stop your crying’, she turned it off.

It hurt. It hurt to hear his voice when she hadn’t heard him in so long. It hurt to hear the voice of the man she gave her heart to; a man she dreamt of being the father of her children.

But it was a couple of months back when she tried.Maybe things had changed and she was finally over him.She wouldn’t know that though, not if she didn’t try.

The documentary she had no interest in, was officially forgotten as she began to contemplate on whether or not to call him back. She didn’t.

“Hey it’s me Harry. ‘M only saying my name in case you’ve deleted m’ number.Wouldnt be surprised if you did,I’d have done the same if it was me…Actually I don’t think I would have.Love you too much to do tha’ ”

“I wouldn’t be calling you,I shouldn’t but ‘m drunk and I miss you.I don’t drink tha’ much anymore cos of work yet here I am…Drunk of m’ arse,” Harry let out a bitter laugh. “Maybe I’ll regret it in the morning but I don’t care right now.I - “

“Stupid phone cut me offl. Why aren’t you picking up?Are you avoiding me?”

“I fucked up love.Fucked up big time.I brought a girl to our - I mean m’ house. ‘t feels weird sayin’ tha’.’S even more weird to call it a home when it doesn’t feel like it.Mum always used to say ‘home is where the heart it’..Think she took tha’ off of the internet. You kno’ how she is,”A small chuckle left his mouth at the thought of his mother and her antics.”But yeah,I brought her home and kissed her. ‘S all we did.I promise.Only kissed her that on’ time though cos it felt wrong.”

“I don’t kno’ what’s wrong with me, ‘s like I can’t function without you.I always used to think tha’ feeling you get when the person you love is gone, was a myth but I guess I never fell in love with someone the way I did with you.”

“I need you baby.I fucking need you.I can’t go to sleep peacefully anymore cos whenever I shut my eyes, all I see is you. ‘S the same with writing; all I do is write about you.About how things have changed.About how I messed up.”

-

She thought he stopped calling.

But then her phone rang once more.

Without glancing at the device, she prayed that it wasn’t him.She was scared of what’d he say, that what he’d say would have her crying her eyes out (though she was close to tears already.

The call ended.

She tried as best as she could to distract herself. But the temptation of listening to the voicemail fought back.

It fought back quite hard.

So she had no choice but to listen to it.

“What have you done?” A strangled scream was heard.”What have you done to me,” she heard a thud; he must have fallen to the floor. “Why?Why did you pretend that everything was okay if you were just going to leave me?I didn’t mean it baby,I swear..Why does this hurt so bad?” Sobs began to leave his mouth as the voicemail ended.

She closed her eyes, it hurt her to hear him cry. However, when she closed her eyes, she could imagine how he looked in his current state.

He’d be on the floor, sobs escaping his mouth like there’s no tomorrow. His throat would begin to hurt yet he’d continue to cry. He’d be in a fetal position, like he’d be protecting himself from harm….It was too late.

Being drunk and emotional….Not such a great idea.

Healing

Post 5x20 fic - my take/hope on what happens after that last scene. Available on AO3.

I’m winging it without a beta on this one - so all mistakes are mine.

“You know, you said you didn’t know what kind of person you are. I think you should figure that out.” Felicity looked at Oliver with sincerity and hope in her eyes.

Oliver looked down, his eyes filled with tears. He could see her hand in his and it gave him an immense sense of comfort.

All of sudden he noticed Felicity was beginning to sway. “Hey, are you okay? Did they check you out?”

“I’m okay, just tired. Big day, you know?” She smiled.

“Come her and lay down with me for a minute” Oliver held his arm out and scooted over a bit on the bed to make a little room.
