Shawneetown, Illinois in 1949…such was the extent of the information with this photo, which came from AmeriCar the Beautiful.  The assumption is that this is New Shawneetown.  Its predecessor, Old Shawneetown, was devastated by a 1937 flood of the Ohio River.  However, these buildings appear to predate 1937 wen New Shawneetown was established–so perhaps this is Old Shawneetown after all.  According to Wikipedia, Old Shawneetown had 237 residents in the 2000 census, so the town obviously wasn’t abandoned after the flood.
