Just a cool weird quip: my mom said she kept all of my baby teeth but I never knew where until I looked through her shark teeth jar (it's GIANT) and found them mixed in with all the sharks teeth.

but what if they’re not shark teeth and your mum just used that as a cover story to hide he fact that you were a demonic child with a snarling, vicious bite.

I’m a bad person and I just set a kid up for heartbreaking disappointment later in life.

A while back when I was doing odd jobs for my dad’s business, his scheduler had her two little daughters (3 and 6 years) in the office bc school hadn’t started yet. I’d finished my work so I took them to the other room to keep an eye on them so their mom could work without them climbing all over her. I’d happened to wear my beetle wing jewelry that day, and since they were shiny, the kids wanted to know what they were.

And not thinking about future encounters, I told them they were dragon scales. Cue complete and utter awe and amazement.

Fast forward, two weeks later. I’m back in the office, and so are the girls. I dont think the 3 year old can really hold onto information that long yet, but her big sister was absolutely determined. She came and found me immediately bc she needed to know where and how I got dragon scales. And why there aren’t dragons in the woods near our city. And whether I ever fought a dragon before.

I couldn’t make myself admit that I’d been joking. I told her they were extremely endangered, that’s why people think they don’t exist anymore. And knights don’t fight dragons anymore, they catch and release. And that I found scales and teeth while I was out in the mountains or near the coast.

She bought every single fucking word.

Fast forward– Tonight. Dad had invited his office staff over for dinner. The girls came. I couldn’t avoid it now. I was in too deep.

The first thing she asked as soon as I was assigned ti watch them– could she see all my dragon stuff?? And what do real dragons look like? Do you really have dragon teeth?

I’m terrible. I know this. But that did not stop me from bringing down my Dragonology book I’ve had since middle school, and my jar of fossilized shark teeth I’d scavenged from the beach.

She matched up the different shaped teeth to the different types of dragons based on the book illustrations. She wanted to know why people in airplanes never saw dragons if they fly everywhere. I told her they only fly at night.

Guys. She 100% believes everything I told her. As far as she knows, I have actual physical evidence of the fact that I’ve seen and interacted with dragons. I am a bad, bad person and someday in the future she is going to be devastated.

hav 2 inform as soon as i logged in here alex was recommended blog to follow and sister asked if i wanted to watch music & lyrics…

The Biggest Lie

Lance goes home for a visit, and his little sister is worried that something bad is going to happen to him. It just happens to be a few weeks before he launches into space in a magic lion robot. Is that considered bad?

I just have all the family feels, okay? And I need McClain family feels right noooow, plus Lance being the best big brother ever. Also, his baby sister has a strange 6th sense about things, though this’ll eventually get explained in Water and Blood. This takes place during Lance’s last visit home before disappearing into space on a giant blue lion robot. It might count as langst? I don’t know what langst qualifications are, so I’m just going to tag it as langst in case it is…

They reached the beach access that belonged to a family friend, and Lance put his little sister down. Both of them took off their shoes and tucked them off to the side of the path. When her sandals were hidden, Josie grabbed his hand instead of running ahead like usual, and he squeezed her fingers.

It was sunset, and the sky was glowing orange and red as they stepped out onto the sand. The sea was calm, the waves striking the sand with a steady rhythm like a heartbeat.

As they walked, Josie finally let go of his hand to pick up shells from the tideline. She liked the ones with little holes in them so she could turn them into necklaces and bracelets and anklets. After a while Lance got ahead of her, though he was walking slowly. He glanced behind to see her taking big steps, putting her feet in his footprints as she followed along.

Lance sat down next to somebody’s abandoned sandcastle and waited for her to catch up, digging his toes into cool sand. She wandered over and plopped down right beside him. Leaning over, she set a little black mermaid’s purse on his knee.

“Where’d you find this?” he asked, picking it up and turning it over in his hand. When he had been Josie’s age, he thought that skate egg cases were the coolest thing to find except for shark teeth. There was an entire jar of them back in his room at home.

“Back there, up the beach,” she said, pointing back where they came from. She tilted to the side and laid some of her other finds out on the sand in a line. Tiny purple shards, pieces of spirals, half of an orange-tinted conch, a few complete shells.

Lance leaned over her and picked up a small blue shell. “Pajarita? If I ask you a question, can you tell me the truth?” He rolled the shell over in his hand and glanced at her.

Josie didn’t look up from inspecting her haul. “Okay…”

“Are you all right? You just seem…upset. Or scared. Are you scared of something?” Lance set the blue shell back beside her other shells and tried to gauge her expression. He wasn’t prepared for her eyes to well up with tears.

“Do you have to go back?”

I’ve been watching Shark Week on the Discovery Channel with my older brother since I was a kid, and I’m still just as excited!

Is anyone else as excited as I am about Shark Week?
