Who is your Ismail? What is it? Your position? Your reputation? Your job, career? Your wealth? Your house? Your garden? Your car? Your lover? Your family? Your knowledge? Your degrees? Your art? Your religiosity? Your clothes? Your name? Your life? Your youth? Your beauty? I don’t know.. you know this answer, and you yourself must take it, whatever and whoever it is, to Mina for sacrifice.
[…] You are Ibrahim and your weakness for Ismail is what will make you Iblis’s plaything.
—  Ali Shariati
You either have Fatima (sa) the daughter of Muhammad (saww) or Fatima Al-Zahra (sa). These are not the same. When you say Fatima (sa) the daughter of Muhammad (saww), you’re making her great because of her father not herself. When you say Fatima Al-Zahra (sa), that is who becomes Fatima (sa). Fatima (sa) by herself.
—  Dr. Ali Shariati as quoted by Dr. Sayed Ammar Nakshawani
The worship of truth is such that truth, without worship, is philosophy and knowledge, and worship without truth is idol worship and lust.
—  Dr. Ali Shariati, Fatima is Fatima
Fatima was not just a wife to Ali. Ali looked upon her as a friend, a friend who was familiar with his pains and his great wishes. She was his endless refuge, the one who listened to his secrets. She was the only companion of his loneliness.
—  Ali Shariati, Fatima is Fatima.
No religion, history or nation has a family such as this, a family where the father is Ali and the mother, Fatima and their sons, Hassan and Husayn and their daughter, Zaynab. They all live under one roof at one time and are one family. At the same time, there has never been so much love, sincerity, faith, poetry and blood given to a family by a nation.
—  Dr. Ali Shariati in ‘Fatima is Fatima.’
I placed you in the grave but you still exist in my heart. We are all from God and unto God we shall return. But my sorrow is eternal and my nights, sleepless until God takes me to the same home in which you are now.
—  Imam Ali (as) (Dr. Ali Shariati, Fatima is Fatima)
They have created a people who do not know their own culture, but still are ready to despise it. They know nothing about Islam but say bad things about it. They cannot understand a simple poem but criticize it with poorly chosen words. They do not understand their history but are ready to condemn it.
—  Ali Shariati talking about assimilation in his article Reflection of Humanity
There are 4 women of Paradise but Fatima (sa) is above them all. Why? Because Asiyah (sa) brought up Moses (as). Maryam (sa) brought up Jesus (as). Khadija looked after Muhammad (saww). Yet there is no limit to how many Fatimah (sa) has brought up.
