share the earth

“Kinship with all creatures of the earth, sky, and water was a real and active principle. In the animal and bird world there existed a brotherly feeling that kept us safe among them… The animals had rights - the right of man’s protection, the right to live, the right to multiply, the right to freedom, and the right to man’s indebtedness. This concept of life and its relations filled us with the joy and mystery of living; it gave us reverence for all life; it made a place for all things in the scheme of existence with equal importance to all.”

Writing Prompt

Can someone please write a story in an alternate universe where humans and aliens are friendly to each other and a mixed-species crew are going to earth for the resident humans to see their families again and no one else has ever been there and the humans always hyper focus one one or two things about it so the others don’t have a lot of knowledge about earth, and they’re just so freaked out by all the deadly things they find there

and then they visit Australia cause one of the human crew members has grandparents or cousins or someone there, but they’re not Australian themselves so the aliens are just…so unprepared.

Please please please do demon Fruk!! Or demon x angel Fruk!

Okay, I’m too lazy to make a whole comic, so I’m just going to show you a few pictures and explain the plot I have in mind.

Arthur is the Lord of Wickedness and Francis is the Lord of Righteousness. Arthur meets up with Francis in the heavens and demands full rule over the Earth. Francis refuses, and Arthur threatens to end his existence.

Instead of having a bloodbath, they agree to save their energy and have a dance across the galaxy instead. Whoever is leading by the end of the dance will decide the fate of the other. They are accustomed to having these dances, since Arthur frequently demands control over the Earth. Francis has always won, and every time, he decides to let Arthur live and have his share of control over the Earth.

Just before the end of their dance, Arthur plants a kiss on Francis and it distracts him long enough for Arthur to switch their roles and end the dance leading.

Arthur turns Francis into a human child so that he will have to grow up and live in a world full of his torment and evil. Before Francis is transformed, he tells Arthur the reason why he always decided to keep him alive after their dance was because he knew he couldn’t live without Arthur, and he’s sad to know that Arthur can live without him.

As Arthur drops off Francis down on Earth, he looks at Francis’s face and begins developing sympathy. He thinks of the dances he and Francis had shared, and how he would never have another dance again. He realises he was foolish to make the decision he made.

He places France in water and decides instead that it will be up to humanity to decide how much good or evil is put into the world by their actions. He then turns himself into a human as well.

Neither have any recollection of their past life, but feel a deep connection.

a pidge and allura friendship headcanon: through a lot of trial and error, pidge learns how to style allura’s hair for her. pidge likes that there’s a method to it, multiple somewhat-complicated steps that lead to a spectacular end product.

allura is always stressed but finds it relaxing for someone to do her hair for her, as no-one else has really touched it since altea fell. she loves that pidge is sharing this tiny fragment of earth culture with her, and she loves getting to be better friends with her youngest paladin. they agree that once pidge’s hair grows back out, allura can try to learn how to style it as well.

There will come a day when people of all races, colors, and creeds will put aside their differences. They will come together in love, joining hands in unification, to heal the Earth and all Her children. They will move over the Earth like a great Whirling Rainbow, bringing peace, understanding and healing everywhere they go. Many creatures thought to be extinct or mythical will resurface at this time; the great trees that perished will return almost overnight. All living things will flourish, drawing sustenance from the breast of our Mother, the Earth….

To all the females who watched Wonder Woman,

If you came home feeling empowered
Or saw her bold bravery and felt like a coward
Know that courage is not only meant for battlefields
Not all wars are fought with swords and shields
Warriors are not made of just skin and bones
They are made of belief; as strong as metal and stones
We’re women waging wars to show our worth
To oppressors with whom we share the same earth
It doesn’t take years of training to stand up for our rights
We’re as capable as she is, to win this fight
She represents the power and grace within us all
To show that even amongst men, we can stand strong and tall

my heart is so full of love and pride for these four dorks from baltimore who made themselves into something from nothing and continue to change lives on the regular, so grateful to share this earth with them and thankful that this was the band 12 year old me decided to fall in love with

Our land is more valuable than your money.

It will last forever.

It will not even perish by the flames of fire.

As long as the sun shines and the waters flow, this land will be here to give life to men and animals.

I look at the world around me and I have no doubt in GOD. I skim through the chapters of my life and again, I have no doubt in GOD. I feel his overbearing gift of peace. A gift I have not earned but have been given anyways. I only aspire to be a tool used by GOD. That I am his daughter and I roam the earth sharing good news. I pray that I don’t become of this world, but that I am transformed and changed by the renewal of my mind. That’s this new heart planted inside me is so bright it’s blinds my enemies miles away . That the Lords presences is so strong in my life it make the evil and negative forces weak. Unable to touch even a glimpse of my soul. Unable to speak evil wrong things against me because I am protected under the blood of Christ. I pray that I do not eat with those who are greedy. Who thrive in lust and boast about themselves. I aspire to eat with the poor, to teach the youth, to hug those who seem unlovable. I pray the fruits of my spirit grow a garden filled with rich knowledge, wisdom, and love to feed the roots within me. I pray my determination takes me to the highest mountain. Only to watch those who did me wrong become a speck of dust. I aspire to be more than Internet ideal beauty.. I aspire to teach those to not only love themselves but love others. To treat myself as a temple. To cater to my needs. To allow scripture to water my soul. To not let the storm discourage me but bring me strength. To be love. I aspire to let the heaven in me fill the earth. To be all that he is. This is my promise to God.

What can I do? (Solarpunk edition)

It warms my heart to see so much support and interest in solarpunk! I know a lot of people are wondering how they can contribute, and hopefully this answers most questions.

Firstly, I think everyone has something they can contribute–even simply listening and sharing is a HUGE help for solarpunk as a whole. Arts, design, fashion, architecture, engineering, farming, forestry, pharmaceuticals, medicine, travel/transit, fiction/nonfiction writing, industry, politics, education… whatever you work with, whatever your passions or hobbies are, you have something to contribute.

Solarpunk does not just mean solar-powered, in the same way Steampunk does not only refer to steam power.

It means looking towards a brighter future, for all of us sharing this Earth. It means seeing the options we’ve been shown for the future (post apoc trash or corporate dystopias) and saying “I refuse to accept this”.

Solarpunk is our present day -punk genre. It has the ability to spread and enact true change, if we nurture it enough.

And in that vein, to answer the question “What can I do?” We can break down solarpunk into three branches (for now):

Diversity: celebrating our differences, being empathetic, understanding and sharing multiple perspectives. Diversity in our sociopolitical lives as well as diversity for our ecosystems and economies.

Accessibility: advancement in technology cannot truly help humanity if certain classes or countries cannot access them. Disabilities (physical and mental) must be accounted for when we redesign cities for people; we must ensure everyone can get around them.

Sustainability: our current for-profit system is killing us and the beautiful creatures we share our planet with. We are wardens of Earth; we are here to protect and nurture it. Production based on need not profit, and de-industrialized agriculture. Communities should be able to function independently from the whole, in terms of necessities (food, water, power, shelter).

Along with these branches, I believe there are three other movements that will inevitably intersect with Solarpunk, if they haven’t already.

Permaculture: bringing back ancient/indigenous/sensible farming practices that we lost or considered “primitive”. Agroforestry, crop rotation, urban/vertical farming are good places to start.

Right-To-Repair: in response to companies like Apple denying our ability to maintain our own devices, there is a large movement dedicated to repairing tech in order to elongate their life cycle and prevent further waste. Why buy a phone every two years, when we could upgrade one continuously over ten?

Afrofuturism: Africa is finally beginning to get back on its feet after the imperialist Rape of Africa era. African Americans are strengthening their voices and cultural ties in this Eurocentric digital age. I cannot properly do this movement justice; it isn’t my voice that should be telling you. Supporting and uplifting the voices within this movement is crucial to not only Solarpunk, but to the wider goal of harmony and reparation.

The most important facet of Solarpunk is perspective: not everything will work for everyone, and listening to marginalized people is absolutely essential to growing our movement.

Be safe, be kind, and spread some love.
