Good Hamlet, cast thy nighted colour off,
And let thine eye look like a friend on Denmark.
Do not for ever with thy vailed lids
Seek for thy noble father in the dust:
Thou know'st ‘tis common; all that lives must die,
Passing through nature to eternity.

One of my final few pieces for my spring thesis! This one is from Hamlet, styled as if it were a 1980s soap opera a la Dynasty!

Ophelia

Based on the painting by Sir John Everett Millais.

I wanted to portray a passively floating mermaid and this iconic image quickly came to mind. There’s a sense of melancholy captured amidst the beauty in the original painting. I wanted to try and evoke that feeling.

Watercolor, gouache, and marker don’t compare to oils but it was a nice color study for me to mimic.
