But that would be the last time because he doesn’t realize he has the
ultimate force of nature in front of him. These women are so powerful.
Together, they are as powerful as the ocean and the ocean is f—ing
- Director Jean-Marc Vallée
During the fifth episode of “Big Little Lies,” director Jean-Marc Vallée unveiled an image so instantly satisfying its full weight didn’t register right away: Three women, running together in silence, wordlessly united against the pain all around them.
Jane’s therapeutic jogging scenes have become a staple of the HBO limited series, but Shailene Woodley’s character is no longer alone. Her new equally tormented best friends, Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Celeste (Nicole Kidman), are now running right beside her. It’s a testament to the support needed to survive in a world filled with hardship, but it’s also a conviction of silent suffering. Each woman has a secret. Each woman is afraid to confess her secret, and — as the series so prominently foreshadows — it could end up killing one of them. (x)
shailenewoodley: so grateful for this squad of women, each one championing the other. what are the forces that drive us to judgement? division? assumption? i reckon one is comparison. how beautiful the world would look if we used comparison as a means to celebrate one another, rather than feed us into competitive notions. i choose that world. thank you, #biglittlelies, for the opportunity to practice this. i love you all. @reesewitherspoon @lauradern @zoeisabellakravitz #nicolekidman

None of us are perfect. I use more plastic than I need to. I’ll buy products from corporations that I don’t agree with. To me, the biggest shift we can make is the mindfulness around these things. That’s the catalyst for change. We must wake up every morning and ask ourselves, “How can I do more? How am I willing to shift my lifestyle to actually create the change I complain about?” Now, all of a sudden you’re empowered, you’re passionate, you have a fuel beneath your feet to move forward in a way that’s conducive not only for your own personal life but also for the world as well.
Hello, guys! Veronica here. Welcome to my new blog, dedicated to HBO’s new show “Big Little Lies”. In the blog you will find edits, gifs, videos and information about the show. The blog has been up for a while, probably since it was announced that the book was going to be made into limited series, but I thought I’d give it a proper introduction now, that the show’s premiere is approaching.
“Hear me loud and clear: If you are a human who requires water to survive, then this issue directly involves you. Don’t let the automatic sink faucets in your homes fool you — that water comes from somewhere, and the second its source is contaminated, so is your bathtub, and your sink, and your drinking liquid. We must not take for granted the severity of this truth. Whatever your cause is. Whatever your passion is. Whatever you care about most… none of your efforts or hard-earned opinions will matter when the planet and the people you’re fighting for have nothing left to show for it.”
