Too many years had passed for things to go back to normal. Too many people had been hurt because of you, not directly, but because of circumstances out of your control. Too much darkness had been brought into the lives of people who didn’t deserve it. There had been too much heartbreak, and there had been far too many, too many’s.

It’s why you decided to leave the team. The problem was, the team wouldn’t take you leaving lying down. They’d need a solid reason to accept why you weren’t staying with them, and when you live in a world where people can be saved by GH-325, the blood of a Kree, it was important that things seemed irreversible.

You’d only told Fury of your wishes, and whilst he wasn’t happy, he accepted it and helped you. During your last mission, you suffered a fatal blow and were pronounced dead at the hospital. Once your body had been transported down to the morgue, you were awoken by Fury. He gave you all the necessary documents to fall off the grid, still able to do the work you’d set out to when you joined the Avengers, just now you were on your own.

All you ever wanted to do was help people, and with your skillset, you were sought after by many organisations. Now, with everyone believing you to be dead, you had no other option but to operate in the shadows. You had no funds from SHIELD, no one to fall back on were things to go wrong. It was all on you.

Fast forward five years and you’d had far too many near death experiences to last you a lifetime. You were pretty much broke and hopped from couch-to-couch, using every last contact you had outside of SHIELD, and the Avengers to keep you afloat. By operating in the shadows, you were able to pick up on potential threats far quicker than anyone else, eliminating them before they became too big of an issue. One threat had managed to slip through your fingers.

All creatures seeking safety are welcome here

When the war began, creatures emerged from the darkness to defend their right to life: vampires, demons, werewolves, and all manners of beings picked up the proverbial sword to fight back the anti-supernaturalists hell-bent on wiping them off the face of the earth.

Unfortunately, despite their physical strengths, the beings underestimated human tenacity.

Members of the supernatural races have been pushed out of civilization; laws have been passed allowing businesses to test their employees for signs of inhumanness, homes of the supernatural are vandalized and burned, and all these creatures have left are the mysterious safe-havens popping up all over the world, hidden from the mortal eye.

However, not all is as it appears: The Patron lurks in the shadows, funding the Safehouse Initiative but offering no explanation as for motive or will. The Property Manager seems to know more than she’s letting on, and outside news of the war is hard to find.

Who is winning? Have the supernaturalists already lost?

That is for you to decide.
