Good Screenwriting Exercise:

Step 1.) Pick a scene from a specific movie and watch it.

Step 2.) Pull up FinalDraft or whatever you write your screenplays on and then write the scene from the movie. Scene headings, actions, dialogue, and all.

Step 3.) Find the script to that movie, find the scene and then compare how the writer of the movie wrote the scene in reflection to how you wrote it. 

Note: Don’t pick a movie you’ve already read the screenplay to. The idea is to write the scene, not knowing how the writer actually wrote it.
