Bucky wasn’t the kind of man who just went rummaging around in women’s underwear drawers. He was respectable - a true gentleman, if he said so himself - and yet here he was, eyes lingering a little too long on the lacy strap that had fallen out of the dresser. He had to admit he was curious; things had changed so much in seventy years. Women didn’t wear anything else that was similar to what it was in the forties, surely their underclothes were different, too.

He peaked over his shoulder, eyes scanning the room for any other sign of life before he allowed himself to walk a little closer. He was already invading your privacy by just being here, in your bedroom when the rest of the team was gone, so he just looked at first, studied the little black ribbon and titch of lace that was available to him.

Achilles and Patroclus: a brief summary
 •
Homère: I'll just be really discreet about their relationship but still gonna slip some clues about their love. Like the ludus after Patroclus death, the fact that they're burried together or the unleashed fury of Achilles after his death.
Eschyle and Eschine: THEY WERE LOVERS. AND ACHILLES WAS THE ERASTES.
Platon: I disagree! They were in love but Patroclus was the erastes
Alexander the Great and Hephaestion: LOOK AT OUR LOVE. WE'RE SO LIKE ACHILLES AND PATROCLUS!!!
Elien: Alexander was like Achilles and Hephaestion was like Patroclus. So Patroclus took it in the ass.
Bernard Sergent: they were no erastes or eromene, they were two young people about the same age, and they were in love.
99% of history, latin, greek and literature teachers: They were just friends. and cousins. and really good friends. that's it. nothing more
me: *facepalm* *goes back* *re-read the song of Achilles by Madeline Miller*

You're just a Cargo Pilot

“You only became a Fighter Pilot because I dropped out.”
Keith might as well have slapped him in the face.
Allura has spent the past few weeks, testing their strength, physically, emotionally, and as a team for Voltron. This however, was a result of pushing limits.
“Keith…” Hunk doesn’t know what more he can say to ease the tension.
“We are supposed to open up, and be able to trust each other. We can’t form Voltron if we are at each other’s throat.” Shiro mentions.
“He started it!” Lance throws a finger in Keith’s direction.
“ENOUGH!”
Lance tenses up when Shiro raises his voice. Keith isn’t lying. If it hadn’t been for his leave at the Garrison, Lance would still be a Cargo Pilot if anything, but just like Keith has his own reasons for leaving, Lance has special circumstances too.
“Maybe we should call it a day… I’m exhausted anyhow.” Hunk says, as he watches Lance tremble with hands in a fist.
“I agree. Paladins, we will have dinner then head to our rooms to rest before training again early in the morning.” Allura commands as she and Coran leave to prepare dinner.
“Not hungry.” Lance grits between closed teeth as he storms off to his room.
“He has never been much of a team player, I would know.” Pidge says, recalling the simulation training at the academy.
“Pidge, that not true…” Hunk tries to defend.
“What’s his problem anyways… we’re all busting our ass to form Voltron…”
“Why did you have to bring up the Garrisons?” Hunk interrupts.
“It’s true.” Keith Chides.
“It’s not.” Hunk challenges.
Hunk, doesn’t normally challenge head on, He doesn’t have trouble in taking commands and keeping his 2 cents to himself, so Shiro assumes that Hunk is only trying to protect Lance.
“He was sick.”
Pidge and and Shiro perk up at the information.
“What?” Pidge says, hoping Hunk will elaborate.
He looks to the floors, as if they have the answer…
“Lance is from a really big family, and it’s not like tuition for the Academy is cheap. He’s on.. Well he was on a scholarship…”
“Your telling me Lance is smart?” Pidge jokes.
Nobody is laughing.
“It was a Full ride as a Fighter Pilot, he just had to take the test and guarantee his spot by his second term. He studied a lot, kept asking me to help him in the library… and I dont know if I should keep talking? Can we just forget what I said?”
“Wait, I’m not following… what does a scholarship have to do with Being a Fighter Pilot or Keith?” Shiro says.
“Fighter pilots need to put in a certain amount of hours before graduating and there are only 24 seats in that class. Only one Pilot put in enough hours to graduate that term…. and that was you, Takeshi Shirogane.” Hunk and Shiro share looks.
“There was only one seat open. If Lance didn’t get in, they were going to strip him of his scholarship.
The only other person who was testing in that year was…” they both looked to Keith. “well you get the picture.
So we spent every night for 2 weeks training and studying, until he made himself sick. Right before the Physical Test, Lance collapsed. He was in the hospital for 2 days due to dehydration and what they said was a stress cold.
When he woke up, Lance said he was sure he was going to have to start packing his backs, but instead Sergent Iverson, came to congratulate him. He mentioned that Keith dropped out and even though Lance didn’t pass the physical, his test scores were almost perfect.”
There is a long pause, but Hunk continued.
“Rumors spread like a wild fire. As far as the academy knew, Lance only got in because Keith left, and yeah Lance knows that’s the case, but if he had a chance to do all over again…”
“Is this why he constantly feels like he need to compete with me?”
“I don’t know. It’s nothing against you Keith, but this whole rivalry thing he has with you, it doesn’t really make sense to any of us, but for him….he needs to know that he earned his seat in that class, Lance… at the garrison, he would never know if he could compete with you fairly.
Then all this happened.”
Hunk spread is arms wide and high.
“So… maybe what I’m trying to says is,
Are you sure that the only reason Lance became a Fighter Pilot, is because you left?

Just a Thought that has been lingering.

A Holsom Brooklyn 99 AU

 • Ok it should be abundantly apparent that Holsom means our favorite lovable puppy-dog eye Jewish boy Adam Birkholtz is Jake Peralta. He’s brash, he’s messy, but he’s a damn fine detective and he knows it/makes sure no one forgets it.
 • Cue his equally brilliant rival/colleague Justin Oluransi who’s by the book, anxiety ridden, has so many spreadsheets and folders for everything under the sun yet he retains an insane amount of knowledge.
 • We’ll get back to their totally amazing chemistry in a moment

I think the thing I liked best about Mick and his friend Georgie was seeing Mick play off of someone that was actually shown as smart and a natural leader. Like Leonard Snart was, I mean.

And it seems a pattern - we had Mick and Len. Then we got the brief bit of friendly drinking between Mick and Turnbull - who was also a very smart and competent leader type of the more scoundrel sort. We’ve got a brief moment of Mick fighting back-to-back with Oliver Queen - again: intelligent, somewhat sneaky and a leader. And now George Washington. Who, like the others, don’t just treat Mick as a goon, but as a perfectly competent individual (albeit crass - definitely crass).

It seems to me that whenever Mick encounters a person like that - a smart, possibly sneaky, natural leader, he knows exactly how to fit. He makes an excellent enforcer - I suspect Mick’d make a natural sergent, actually - and, as we saw with Georgie, Mick is perfectly capable of making and executing a plan (that escape was him all the way), but he spent the entire time Brit-napped asking for permission to pull it off. From Washington. From the boss.

Because he trusts his boss to call the shot.

Because that’s the thing. With Mick, that respect? It has to be mutual. He’ll follow a leader who is willing to respect him. He’ll trust a leader who is willing to trust him. To treat him as an equal (or as close to one as the socialpolitical realities of a given time period allows).

And he just doesn’t get that among the Legends. There are no natural leaders among this bunch - not even Rip, who, after all, was always supposed to be a lone agent for the Time Masters and really sucks at making the best use of his human ressources when he hasn’t been edited by Thawne. (Evil!Rip seems far more competent so far.) There’s nobody for him to play off in the manner he’s used to.

Worse, though - they hardly ever seem to trust him in turn. The entire sending-along-babysitters-for-Mick on missions and the way they kept interrupting every attempt at a conversation he tried to have with the other superheroes during Invasion doesn’t really scream trust to me. Oh, some of them will try friendly overtures in one episode or other, but next episode they don’t even interact with him again.

The other legends? They act like Mick’s a goon who needs someone to lead him - and sure, Mick can use a leader. It’s just that not a single one of the Legends have what it takes to be that leader.

When you’re dating a Captain of a United States Special Forces Unit, you have to get used to a lot of things.

Will Solace was used to his boyfriend, Nico, being gone for weeks without a word. He was used to their dates being interupted by a call for a mission. He was used to worrying to his wits and promises of a quick return.

Because Will knew somewhere out there Nico was saving the lives of millions. He was a hero that was keeping the peace in some distant country.

When you’re dating a Captain of a United States Special Forces Unit, you have to know that they might not come home one day.

That was something Will could not get used to.
