sept 6th!!!!!

so i really wanted to do a photoset of my selfies from 2016 during december and i thought what better time to do it than for the last blackout of the year right??

even though i had to wait six months to start, this year i got to begin hormone replacement therapy (because i’m transgender), and this set kind of shows my facial progress from pre-testosterone to five months on testosterone! (as of today, i’m supposed to be six months on t, but i haven’t been able to do my shot for about six weeks so i’m still considering myself at five months, which is why the last two pictures don’t have any weeks/months listed.)

the first picture (march 31st) was from trans day of visibility (tdov), and marked the one year anniversary of me coming out to my mom which was pretty exciting tbh! the picture from sept 6th was from the last blackout, and the pictures from sept 9th were from darkskin appreciation day, i believe!

anyway, happy blackout!! i hope today (and the rest of 2016 tbh) treats yall well! ✊😊

So I was reading “Proceedings of the Woman’s Rights Convention, held at the Broadway Tabernacle, in the city of New York, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 6th and 7th, 1853” from the Library of Congress, because don’t judge me okay. And I came across this part.

People. This was 1853. Women couldn’t even vote yet. But dudes were already talking about men’s rights and how women had it too easy.

Just to put shit in perspective.

For people who are not familiar with “Prince of Tennis” ^^

Don’t hate me…I had another Tailsmo moment. Sort of. I randomly started thinking about the seed that Tails got from Cosmo, and then I thought what it might be like for Tails to be a single father.

Side note: In the last picture, she’s getting married and he’s giving her away. After looking at it when I was done, I realized that’s not necessarily what it looked like.

JK Rowling’s releasing 3 new books about Hogwarts and here’s what you need to know about them:
  • They’re only going to available electronically, you can preorder on Amazon or Pottermore right now (they’ll be released Sept 6th).
  • They’re $2.99 each (because again, short stories so roughly 10k words each).
  • This collection will focus on Hogwarts (with the hint that there might be more collections focused on different aspects of the wizarding world released in the future).
  • The books will mainly be content which has already been released on Pottermore, like Umbridge’s backstory and Lupin’s childhood.
  • But there will be some new exclusive writing, including a look into McGonagall’s involvement in the Second Wizarding War (and a bit about Slughorn as well).
  • And last but not least, here’s the titles/blurbs of each book:

Short Stories from Hogwarts: Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists, which will “provide a window into the darker side of the wizarding world” and discuss power and treachery within the castle walls.

Short Stories from Hogwarts: Heroism, Hardship and Dangerous Hobbies, which will focus on McGonagall and Lupin.

Hogwarts: An Incomplete and Unreliable Guide, which is about the school itself, and will apparently give us more insights into the secrets of the castle and grounds.

Hi! My birthday is on Sept. 6th! I'd love either best friends to lovers, or an arranged marriage fic. But honestly, any fic with any rating would do, as long as there's fluff! <3 This blog is awesome, thank you so much!

“You’re late, Mellark,” Katniss complains, scowling at her approaching friend.

“Sorry,” Peeta replies, holding out a bakery bag as compensation, tilting his head to the side and giving her puppy dog eyes.

“I’m starving,” Katniss grumbles as she grabs the bag out of his hand, tearing it open and inhaling deeply before closing her eyes and letting out a sigh.

Katniss reaches into the bag and pulls out two cheesebuns and hands one to Peeta. “Why are you dressed up?” she asks before she stuffs the other cheesebun into her mouth.

#Blackout Dates for 2016

It may not be a word that comes to mind when you think #BlackoutDay but it’s something we the organizers have noticed. As we prepare for the last #BlackoutDay of our first year, we have begun to reflect on what brought us here and how we can move forward. Our first year was a foundation year; with the unexpected scale of success from the first #BlackoutDay comes learning how to problem solve, move quickly, and how to give the movement legs.

Our successes have been great but we find that things are fragmented. Fragmentation is why there are conflicting narratives surrounding this movement, such as the change from monthly observances to seasonal ones, what the themes are, and what we are all about. Almost like a game of telephone, confusing information spreads from unofficial sources. While we encourage people to make their own posts regarding The Blackout, a lot of posts end up leaving out important information or presenting incorrect information. We haven’t officially observed the monthly Blackouts since May but there’s still a percentage of people that celebrate the #blackout on the first Friday of every month.

Sept 21st was the first time since March 6th that we managed to get almost everyone on the same page. We want to continue that trend and get us unified. So, while our next #BlackoutDay is scheduled for December 21st, we have already decided our dates for next year in order to combat some of this fragmentation.

As a team, we came together, debated, researched and finally agreed on the dates for 2016 and beyond.

The dates we agreed on are as follows:
March 6th, 2016
June 6th, 2016
September 6th, 2016
December 6th, 2016

It’s important to observe the March 6th date since it is our anniversary and to keep it as simple and streamlined as possible moving forward, our other Blackout Days will fall on the 6th of the other seasonal months. We’ve also made sure that these dates don’t  conflict with any major celebrations for other People of Color.

These will be our official #Blackout dates  moving forward with themes announced at least 2 months before each date. (We need at least 1 month to come up with a unique theme)

Why promote these dates now? We want to avoid the fragmentation present in our first year as we seek to reach new heights in our second. So spread the word around and let’s get these dates to stick for 2016!

TL;DR: Please note that December 21st will be the last #BlackoutDay for 2015. For 2016 and beyond, it will fall on March 6th, June 6th, Sept 6th and Dec 6th. An easy way to remember is that the months are in multiples of 3 (3,6,9,12) and the day is always on the 6th.
