Creepypasta #1224: "What Goes Up..."

Length: Short

A fighter jet buzzed past Flight 508 as it continued circling out over the desert.

All alone in the cramped cockpit, Captain Hyatt tightened his grip on the joystick and tried to clear his mind. None of this was making any sense.

He waited for instructions to divert to the nearest Air Force Base, but none came. Radio silence. Even Air Traffic Control, which had spent the last forty-five minutes stalling with bullshit reasons for Flight 508 to remain in a holding pattern far away from McCarran International, had gone dark. Every other nearby airport had failed to so much as acknowledge his requests for an emergency landing.

Far out in the distance,Captain Hyatt could make out a fleet of vehicles amassing on the hot Mojave sand. White tents were being erected by bodies in yellow jumpsuits. They were surrounded by dark trucks.

He adjusted himself in his chair, careful not to dirty his shoes with the blood that had began to flow into the cockpit from underneath the door.

Thirty minutes earlier, what began as individual screams from First Class erupted into a symphony of shrieks from the entire orchestra of passengers, punctuated by a percussion of stampeding feet and what Captain Hyatt could only assume was gunfire from the Air Marshal’s weapon. His co-pilot, Pope, had hurriedly exited the cockpit to examine the situation, but had not returned.

Captain Hyatt was beginning to lose his sense of time. Sweat poured down his face, soaking his uniform. He loosened his collar. What had been less than three hours was beginning to feel like an eternity, and he was starting to get the feeling that he would be up there forever.

Deep down, though, he knew this wasn’t true. The reality was that the people on the ground knew more about what was going on behind the cockpit door than he did. The reason the fighter jet and Air Traffic Control had cut contact with him was not because they didn’t have a plan. The reason was that he was not a part of it.

One way or another, Captain Hyatt knew that Flight 508 would return to Earth. What truly worried him was not if he would land, but rather, in how many pieces he would be in when he did.

He sunk back into the chair, weeping quietly to himself as another fighter jet lined up behind Flight 508.

Dude... seriously? I mean I didnt like Ezra's storyline but absolutely none of what you said even makes sense? Byron didn't try and get Ezra a job because he wanted to give him a new career? It was because he wanted to get him out of town! He obviously couldn't call the police because Aria was already involved in the police w/ so much stuff (Alison's death and all the crazy stuff that kept happening that made the Liars look suspicious). They didn't want to draw more attention to her.

Is it me like is there some kind of weird logical disconnect? Byron getting a predator a new job in another town is??? Horrific??? I genuinely don’t understand how other people don’t see it that way so I’m not trying to come off as rude but I just genuinely can’t understand why some people are like…saluting that. Like that makes Byron some kind of good father. And his wrath didn’t last very long. Like…….. Aria was able to confide in her parents – at least in her mom – about her relationship woes with Ezra while she was still in high school. They were going to allow a predator to change towns and start over……… as long as it’s not their daughter it’s cool! Like I’m sorry but that’s honestly friggin disgusting

There was a myriad of other things Ella & Byron could have done but didn’t do. They didn’t protect their daughter.

And like the only thing I’ve ever really been trying to say here is that they’re bad parents. So I don’t know why this, YET AGAIN, is getting blown into something it’s not. I don’t care about the BARE MINIMUM that Byron did. He didn’t do what actually mattered. He didn’t do what he should have done. Ella was a god damn pushover to the point where Aria thought she was able to talk to Ella about her predatory boyfriend

I’d also like to just point out for arguments sake here. Who remembers Zack kissing Hanna? It wasn’t just gross because he did it without consent. It was gross because of the age difference. Ella dumped him after finding out….. but….. let her…teenaged daughter…..continue dating….an adult…. and was being bff’s with her……. like.

My only argument has ever been that Ella & Byron, for me, are the worst parents on the show because they had the ability to protect Aria and they never did because she ends up marrying her abuser with her parents ‘blessing’.

What she says: I’m fine

What she means: House Tyrell is the second most powerful house in all of Westeros, from the amount of gold they have, to their massive armies which are easily supported by their gold. They still have a number of powerful members of their family even with Margery and Loras dead. In addition to that they have spies, bards, etc, all over the seven kingdoms just like everyone else. Casterly Rock is incredibly far away from High Garden and there’s no way in hell that pretty much the entire Lannister army would march all the way to the Tyrell’s capital in High Garden with literally nobody noticing; and even if they got there the Tyrell’s army isn’t exactly non-existant. To fight them the Lannister’s would’ve easily sacrificed such a large amount of their forces making their chances against Daenerys almost negligible, all the while making Kings Landing and other Lannister controlled territory so incredibly weak that Daenerys could’ve waltzed into Kings Landing without shedding a single civilian blood drop. On top of that Olenna is one of the most incredibly intelligent and powerful characters on the entire show and wouldn’t have been eliminated from this unrealistic attack, and she also has more than a single castle she could’ve retreated to. Also Euron’s fleet just appeared out of nowhere with zero warning as well? Just like in the fight with the sand snakes? Where he defeated three of the show’s most powerful women at once? All of this has but one explanation: Sloppy storytelling

More Humans are Weird

Because this hash tag is SO FUN and thought-provoking.

GENDER:
No one can keep up with humans and gender. There are no easy signs to tell who is what, not clothing, not body morphology, not how they paint themselves or their grooming or vestigal hair. The humans themselves argue about how many genders there are. Eventually they quit trying and refer to all humans as ‘they’. Most humans are fine with that, even compliment them on their support (?) and progressive views (??). A few humans are offended, but are shouted down by their other humans. The other beings of the galaxy officially give up.

SEX:
Some humans want to have sex all the time. Others barely can stand to be touched at all, even casually. Some will have sex with their own gender, which does not produce offspring and is confusing to many. Some will have sex only with certain people, some will have sex with anyone. SOME will have sex with other species, occasionally challenging their own safety and everyone else’s. None of this is considered strange. Anyone saying it is strange is again shouted down and shamed into silence. The other beings of the galaxy officially give up.

CATS:
Humans adopt small predators as pets and kiss their “widdle faces” and giggle over their clawed toes (???) and fuss and are thrilled when the predators sleep with them (isn’t that UNSAFE? IT IS FULL OF POINTY BITS) and often sport scratches and bite marks inflicted when the animal was ‘playing’.
“When were these ‘cats’ domesticated?”
“Oh, we never really domesticated them. We just let them move into the house with us. Aren’t they CUUUUUTE? Come here, baby.” -kissy noises-
The other beings of the galaxy again give up.

RELIGION:
Wars fought. Millions - probably billions, through history - killed. Crew members huffy with each other. Various holidays celebrated, none of which make sense, some of them celebrating events that are physically impossible and could not have happened. All for something that can’t be proved.
The other beings of the galaxy would think this was all an elaborate prank if it wasn’t for the body count.

GERMS:
Humans get INFECTED and act as if it is a personal affront, and cuss about it. They confine themselves to quarters so they don’t infect the rest of the crew - very kind, in that respect - and otherwise wrap themselves in bedding and bitch about it for three days while doing their work by remote - “It’s fine, just a cold.” followed by horrifying noises they call ‘coughing’ and ‘sneezing’ -  and HOW. HOW DO THEY EVEN.
The other beings of the galaxy, for whom infection is always life-threatening, boggle from a safe distance. With respirators on.

ALPHA PREDATOR…?
They come from a death planet, these naked apes with no armor, no fangs, no speed. They have the ability to conquer the galaxy, if they only agreed with each other long enough that it was their goal. Instead they poke their noses into other death worlds, ‘exploring’, they call it, adopting horrifying creatures and making friends with other predatory beings, brewing poisonous beverages from whatever they can scrounge, which they then drink for fun. The rest of the galaxy is relieved. If humans had an attention span, they would truly be in trouble.

No one wants to know what a ‘shark’ is. Humans seem to be afraid of them, and if it frightens the humans, the rest of the galaxy is, to a being, terrified.

Keiynan Lonsdale for the Creative Recreation Fall 2017 Campaign

“I know with music and even with dancing, people have always tried to put me in a box. Even with my race, they were like ‘You can’t do this kind of music because you’re not black enough,’ or 'You’re not white enough.’ It’s just like, 'Screw that!’ None of it makes any sense.’”

212. “Did you hear that.”
213. “Don’t say you love me.”
214. “Don’t you ever do that again.”
215. “Everyone deserves a second chance.”
216. “I try so hard to forget you, but every single time it comes back to you.”
217. “H-How long have you been standing there?”
218. “Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.”
219. “I didn’t ask for any of this! But do you know what I put up with it all? Because I love you!”
220. “I just need you here with me right now.”
221. “I love you. I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you and- Oh screw it!”
222. “We can’t lose each other, we just can’t.”
223. “I’ve never felt this way before and I’m terrified to be honest.”
224. “I never meant for anyone to get hurt.”
225. “I waited and waited, but you never came back!”
226. “I’m sick of feeling useless!”
227. “Is that what you call an apology?”
228. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”
229. “Somebody’s in love!”
230. “It’s not what it looks like.”
231. “Just hold me.”
232. “You’re the best part of me.”
233. “I don’t want to think about what I’d be like without you.”
234. “Can I hold your hand?”
235. “Let’s go get lost somewhere.”
236. “I just don’t know how to look forward anymore.”

liam: that one guy who accidentally overcooks the hot dogs on the grill and there isn’t any left that are edible

niall: eats the hot dogs anyway. all of them. there aren’t anymore. he ends up disappearing halfway through the event because he doesn’t feel good.

zayn: stands around looking hot and normally the moms would be mad he’s smoking around kids but when he winks at them it’s okay

louis: that one stepmom that lives in the biggest house and gets drunk too early on in the night and dances around like she’s at the club

harry: the husband of said stepmom that wears palm tree button downs and talks about how he once spent a month living off of grass to encourage the neighborhood kids to eat healthy

“Am I at ninety-four yet?”

Neil asked.

He was not at ninety-four. Ninety-four was the whispered words, “Thank you. You were amazing.” They echoed inside Andrew’s head over and over, like they were an offering, a prayer, a goodbye, like they were pushed out of his body with his dying breath. It was irritating and he was going to bring it up on the bus. He was going to spell it out nice and slow how Neil needed to stop living like he was dying and start living like the exy junkie he was.

Ninety-five was turning around and seeing nothing. Not nothing in the sense that Neil was nothing, but nothing in the sense of panic, of worry, of standing on the edge of the rooftop looking down thinking “Would it hurt if I fell?” The space where Neil should have been filled with emotions that Andrew swore he would never feel again.

Ninety-six was finding his bag. It wasn’t the bag that held his entire life, that was locked away in the Fox Tower, safe. It was the bag that held his future. A future he knew Neil wanted in the way he clutched the key he gave him back in August. A key that was left in the God forsaken bag with Neil nowhere in sight.

For ninety-seven, Kevin was there. The other foxes were there too but the words Kevin formed with his breath passing over his voice box and the movements of his tongue and jaw, were the only things that mattered. Kevin’s mouth moved, sound traveled in vibrations through the air, hit Andrew’s eardrums, and then his hands were around Kevin’s neck. There were lies and half-truths and Andrew hated those. Again not in the sense he hated Neil but in the sense that he hated the word ‘please’ and ‘misunderstanding’. He hated how he didn’t hate Neil because of all the lies. And for that, ninety-seven.

Ninety-eight was the phone call that Neil had been found.

Ninety-nine was walking through the hotel door and seeing him crumple in agony. It was the hissed “Don’t” as he did his best sooth away the pain. It was the eyes that were Nathaniel’s with hints of Neil peeking out behind his irises. It was the look of a man staring helplessly as the executioner readied the guillotine. It was the words “I’m sorry” like he had something to be sorry for. It was his attitude that no matter how beat up he got, remained impeccably intact. And it was the question he still had the gall to ask: “Am I at ninety-four yet?”

“You are at one hundred.”

Ghost Blimp

The legend of the Ghost Blimp began in San Francisco on August 16, 1942. It was early on a Sunday morning when Flight 101 prepared to take off. The pilots were 27-year-old Lt. Ernest DeWitt Cody and 34-year-old Ensign Charles Ellis Adams. Both were experienced and reliable, which made the events of the next five hours even more mysterious. An Aviation machinist named Riley Hill was supposed to go with them on this call but moments before the flight was called back for an unknown reason.

About 1.5 hours after takeoff Lt. Cody radioed squadron headquarters and said; “Position four miles east of the Farallones. Standby.” Four minutes later, Cody called again and reported an oil slick on the water. According to Riley Hill, those were the last words ever received from Flight 101.

After 3 hours of no contact with the blimp and it’s crew, the flight commander got a report saying that the blimp had gone eight miles off course and had come ashore just south of San Francisco. The blimp had landed in the middle of a street, but no one was injured. It’s important to note that while there was no contact with the crew, the blimp remained in sight until it crashed.

When Navy personnel arrived, they were shocked to discover that there was no sign of Lt. Cody or Ensign Adams. The door was latched open, which was a highly unusual in-flight position. The safety bar, normally used to block the doorway, was no longer in place. And a microphone hooked to an outside loudspeaker dangled from the gondola. The blimp had went through the proper prepping and maintenance before departure so none of this made any sense.

Two of the three life jackets on board were missing, suggesting the crew had put them on before take off, as regulations required. A locked briefcase containing top-secret codes was still in its place. It was as if Cody and Adams had opened the door and simply stepped out into thin air.

Many theories have emerged since then, like they were fixing something and fell out or that they were captured, but none of that makes sense since they were in sight the entire time.
