anonymous asked:

who do you think the most underrated US elites are? how about the most underrated NCAA team? individual NCAA gymnasts from super 6?

I think Peyton Earnst was a bit underrated as an elite. I mean I’m sure part of it was that she was overshadowed by the rise of Simone, Kyla’s senior elite AA debut, teammate Bailie Key, McKayla Maroney, etc., but I found her pretty impressive. She did nice leaps:

including a split 3/2 that was actually pretty close to completed most times, and she could also tumble - she did a nice DLO and double arabian.

She also had an excellent DTY - very clean, and LOOK AT THE DISTANCE AND CHEST POSITION:

That’s before a hop. This vault scored 15.05 (x).

She was also capable of bar routines and beam routines in the mid to high 14s. Idk like I get that she never had a ton of elite success and that’s part of why there wasn’t much hype around her but I think her potential to be a great AAer was a bit overlooked.

As far as NCAA goes, I don’t pay much attention to the team aspect but I think GWU had a great year? And Alicia Boren and Kiana Winston are my faves.

You’re non international 2017 world champions. 2017 was a year known as the underdog year, and that is not in a bad way at all. Teams who’ve never globed before this weekend, globed. Steel and ECE M5 got their first world championship title while Brandon Senior Black went back to back.
