He blinks, scrubbing at the corners of his eyes. There’s a suspiciously crusty stain on the inside of his bedspread; it isn’t white, but it’s not not white, either. He doesn’t know which pledge had laundry duty last week, but he thinks it was probably Goyle. Goyle always forgets to add detergent. Possibly, Goyle isn’t actually aware he’s supposed to add detergent.
Marcus rolls over. His tongue is sticking to the roof of his mouth, and his throat feels dry and rough and a little like he might’ve accidentally gargled paint thinner. A strange burning sensation is piercing his gut; if he concentrates, he can almost trace it back to a gently pulsating spot between his tonsils.
Swallowing hurts a lot.
He vows not to try that again, and then idly wonders if he’s getting sick. That would suck. Hooch is picking captains at the end of the week, and Marcus would really enjoy stripping that fuzzy felt “C” off Wood’s jersey. Especially now. Especially after three months of silence and stupid passive aggressive Snap stories featuring way too many fishing boats. And lakes. And sad, ugly, shirtless Canadian bros who definitely didn’t need to, like, molest Wood so thoroughly.
Marcus’s stomach rumbles.
He instinctively swipes at his teeth with the tip of his tongue.
2017 Skate Canada Preview - Pairs: Duhamel/Radford Fight Tough Field
Skate Canada starts this weekend! This is the first of the previews/predictions, and as always, I am starting with the men! An interesting field this week. Below are the competitors, a bit about them, and my predictions for the event. Everything below the cut!
The field here this weekend is ridiculous - no joke - and things could go so many different ways. I will do my best, but this is going to be hard to try and predict!
————————————————————————————— Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader, Steve Rogers x Reader Request:
Could you please write an
imagine for Steve and Bucky where you guys go out to eat and you tease them
because seniors eat free and their seniors. Thank you so much and love your
Warnings: None Notes: Hey guys, sorry I’ve been so shit with posting but hopefully things should be getting better. Anyway this is just a little imagine that I thought would be quite funny, enjoy! —————————————————————————————
“Steeeeeve…please.” You whined throwing
your hands up in the air. “No Y/N, we have training, maybe after.” He grunted
as he continued to beat on the punching bag. “Aww come on Steve, our best girl
wants to eat lunch with us, we can miss training just this once.” Bucky
chuckled, unwrapping his knuckles, already getting ready to ditch his training
session. “Fine.” Steve finally relented, stopping his assault on the bag and
unwrapping his knuckles as well. “Yay!” You exclaimed, doing a small victory
dance at getting the boys to do what you wanted, “I knew you couldn’t resist spending time
with me.” You chuckled, grinning from ear to ear. “Yeah yeah. Where’d you want
to eat kid?” Steve chuckled shaking his head and ruffling your hair. “How about
the Italian place down the road?’ Bucky interjected, throwing an arm around
your shoulder and leading you out the door. “Sounds good.” You smiled pushing
Bucky’s arm off of your shoulder and grabbing Steve’s hand to drag him along
After the three of you were seated in a
small booth in the corner a particular sign caught your attention and made you
giggle. “What’s so funny?” Bucky asked nudging you in the arm. “Well it looks
like our meal is going to be pretty cheap.” You giggled, a grin spreading from
cheek to cheek. “What do you mean?” Steve said warily, taking a gulp of his
water. “Well it seems that this place has a senior discount,” You laughed
pointing at the sign and waiting for the two to catch on. “So…?” Bucky asked
cocking an eyebrow. “How old are you Buck, 98 right?” You said with a wink,
“And you Steve your only one year his junior, so you must be 97.” You said
laughing at your own joke, watching as realisation hit them both. Steve just
sighed and led his head on the table while Bucky just hid his face in his
hands. “So you see looks like you guys are eating pretty cheaply.” You laughed
at the soldiers exasperation.
Is it true that they're going to eliminate 1 jumping pass from men's fs and shorten it to 4 minutes after the Olympics season?
Yes, this and other changes are mentioned in the ISU’s 2016 Special Regulations and Technical Rules, which was updated after the 2016 ISU Congress. We’ve gotten many asks about this before, so here’s a list of all the major changes that will take place in the 2018-19 post-Olympic season (that we currently know of):
Senior men’s and pairs’ free skates will be reduced from 4 min. 30 sec. to 4 min. Junior men and pairs’ free skates will be reduced from 4 min. to 3 min. 30 sec.
Junior and senior men’s FS will be reduced from 8 to 7 jumping passes.
The choreographic sequence will be removed from the junior and senior pairs’ FS.
There will be 11 Grades of Execution (-5 to +5), details pending.
Combination step sequences in ice dance, more details on page 16
It is possible the ISU will make more changes by the time the post-Olympic season comes around.
Disclaimer- I don’t own “The Freshman” (or “The Sophomore”) or any of the characters, I’m just borrowing them for a little while and will return them unharmed.
Author’s Note- I actually wrote this a while ago, but never got around to publishing it (many because I wasn’t quite sure how to end it). It’s a fluffy Freshman piece set at the end of Senior year.
Summary- The gang plays one last game of “truth or truth”.
“This is it,” Zack announced, leaning back in his chair, “our last night at Hartfeld.”
“Four years have gone by too quick,” I commented, looking around at the five other people in the room. My first friends at Hartfeld and the people responsible for many of the good memories I had of the previous four years.
“How should we celebrate?” Tyler asked, his arm around Abbie’s shoulder.
“With one last game of truth or truth!” Kaitlyn yelled out excitedly. She looked at all of us. “Please.”
“Don’t you know all our truths by now?” Zack grumbled with an eye-roll.
“We can get creative,” Kaitlyn said enthusiastically. “Come on guys, what better send off than to recreate our first night together?”
“I agree,” Chris said, wrapping his arm around me. “I think it could be fun. Bring back old memories.”
I shrugged. “I’m in.” The game was pretty fun. Plus we already knew so much about each other, what were a few more questions? And it was our last night together and it could be nice to recreate that first night.
I remembered how nervous I had been, but how I had felt connected to these five people right from the start. Plotting with Zack to get Abbie and Tyler together, bonding with Kaitlyn, falling for Chris… That night had been the beginning of a fantastic four years.
“I can’t believe that four years later, we’re still playing this game,” Abbie grumbled good-naturedly.
“What can I say, it was a brilliant invention,” Kaitlyn said with fake modesty, doing a little bow. She looked around the circle, obviously trying to decide on her first victim. “Zack.”
“Hit me,” Zack said with an easy grin.
“Of the guys you hooked up with at Hartfield, who was the best kisser?”
“Nathan,” Zack said after a moment with a grin, referencing a guy he hooked up with Sophomore year. “I mean, neither of us was interested in pursuing anything serious but we had fun together and he was a really great kisser.”
Zack turned to Tyler. “What was your biggest slacker moment of the last four years?”
“Blowing off class for a D&D session because we were in the middle of an epic battle and didn’t want to wait,” Tyler admitted. “I think that session ended up lasting 10 hours all together until we were starting to fall asleep in our chairs.”
“At least you didn’t slack off an entire term,” Kaitlyn pointed, making a face. “I still can’t believe I did that or that you guys managed to help me pass.”
“That’s what friends are for,” I reminded her with a smile. “And we all had some slip-ups over the four years, but we’ve been there for each other. Friends forever.”
Tyler smiled at me. “On that note, Savannah, how did you and Becca become friends? One moment you hated each other and the next, she was joining us at Aurora and you guys were hanging out and you’ve never said a word.”
“It was Freshman year, I had a bad night. I was fighting with Zig and Kaitlyn and James and Chris and I went to the bar to drown my sorrows,” I admitted, “Becca was there and she ended up giving me a ride home and letting me crash at her place for the night and I saw a new side of her and I think after that, neither of us saw the point of being enemies and then, gradually that became friendship.”
We were still friends. She had graduated two years earlier, but we kept in touch by text and e-mail. She had never become an easy person to be around, and the others had never really warmed to her, but Logan had been right when he’d said she was a great person to have on your team. I had experience having Becca as an enemy and as an ally and I’d much rather have her on my side.
I paused, considering my victim. “Abbie, what’s your weirdest hook-up story?”
Tyler choked on his beer and Abbie turned bright red at my question.
Kaitlyn grinned. “Savannah brings her A game!”
Abbie took a huge sip of her wine before answering. “In the woods when we were camping with his parents. We snuck away for a little while and found a nice secluded spot to hook up, except it was dark, so we didn’t check our surroundings properly and we ended up in a patch of poison ivy. We were both itchy for a week in very uncomfortable places.”
We all burst into laughter trying to picture that.
“I know I shouldn’t laugh,” Zack said between bursts of laughter, “but…”
“I can’t help it,” I finished for him. “That must have been awful.”
Abbie turned to Chris. “What about you Chris, where’s the wildest place you’ve ever hooked up?”
The question was obviously meant to get back at me, but I just grinned unrepentantly. I didn’t embarrass easily. Chris was quiet for a moment, pondering four years worth of hookups and trying to pick the best one.
“It shouldn’t take this long to come up with an answer,” Zack teased, “are you saying that the two of you don’t have one wild hookup story? I refuse to believe it.”
“It’s more about narrowing it down to just one,” Chris said, his arm tight around my waist. He smiled down at me, “what do you think, Savannah? Football stadium, corn maze, or classroom?”
“Corn Maze,” I answered with a grin, remembering our long-ago road-trip. “Though foyer of a fancy L.A mansion is up there too.”
Our friends all stared at us.
“Damn,” Zack said admiringly. “You two aren’t afraid of a little danger, are you?”
I laughed. “Not particularly. The risk is part of the fun.” Though somehow we had managed to never get caught. I grinned at Chris. “It’s not my fault that he’s so irresistible.”
“I’m the irresistible one?” Chris asked, kissing my neck, “you are underestimating yourself.”
“You’d think after all this time, you’d have gotten sick of each other,” Zack said with a groan. “Or at least stopped being so cute.”
“I think they’ll be cute forever,” Kaitlyn said, shooting Chris a look I didn’t quite understand. “Chris, it’s your turn to ask a question. If you can let go of Savannah long enough.”
“I guess I can do that,” Chris said, gently moving me off his lap. He picked up my hand instead and looked directly into my eyes, my first indication that this wasn’t your typical truth or truth question. “Savannah, will you marry me?”
I stared at him for a moment, afraid that I had heard him wrong.
“The night we met, I had a feeling that my whole had just changed,” Chris continued, “I fell a little in love with you that night and I’ve kept falling deeper every night of the last four years and I never want that to end. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. If you’ll have me.”
“Yes!” I answered, throwing my arms around him. “A thousand times yes! Of course I’ll marry you.”
Our friends started cheering and started crowding around Chris and I to congratulate us.
“OMG!” Abbie exclaimed, jumping up and down before giving me a hug. “I’m so happy for you both.”
“Congrats!” Zack said, giving Chris a high five.
Kaitlyn pulled me into a hug. “I’m so happy for you. You guys are just perfect together.”
“You knew!” I accused good-naturedly, realizing that this had all been a set-up.
She laughed. “Yes. Chris enlisted my help to come up with the perfect proposal and what better than recreating the night you met?”
“It was a great night.” I agreed. The rest of the first semester hadn’t been so great between Chris and I, but things had started off well. That first night and our first kiss would always be one of my favorite memories. I was also happy he had done it like this, so our friends could be there since they’d been such a big part of our story and I hoped they always would be.
Things were changing, but I honestly believed that our friendship would last forever, just like Chris and I’s love.
“Together with Anastasia, the younger daughter, a postrelyonok — as mother to whom, despite an age difference, she entirely submitted tenderly called Anastasia, they were called “small pair” — in opposition to “big pair” — to seniors, Olga and Tatyana.”
What's the difference between a step sequence and choreo sequence?
In a step sequence, skaters have to do steps and turns with their feet, such as twizzles, brackets, loops, counters, rockers, choctaws, etc. Step sequences are marked from level 1 to 4. Skaters must do step sequences in every discipline and every segment except the pairs’ free skate. Choreo sequences are only included in senior pairs’ and singles’ free skates and only have one level. Skaters can do whatever they want as long as it covers the whole rink. They can do elements like spirals, spreadeagles, ina bauers, hydroblades, cantilevers, split jumps, etc.
Do you have anymore Huntress Academy headcanons for the Ichor Group AU? :)
•so many camping expeditions! Seniors gets to vote on where they wanna go and whatever students wanna go are able to
•there’s a student mentoring program so a senior gets paired with a freshman and 8th graders get paired with 6th graders- it’s all about making sure everyone feels like part of the group and creating an awesome school culture
•all of their organized sports are really niche like archery but pretty much the whole school shows up to support
•days when Artemis comes to visit are everyone’s favorite. Everyone just pretty much swoons over her all day and she tries to talk to every student and check in
•each floor of the dorms is named after a constellation
•the girls explore the woods around the school grounds. There’s a creek that’s a really popular hang out spot on the weekends
•the school guard dogs look super scary but can often be found whining until someone rubs their belly
•the dining hall is open 24/7 so it’s the most popular place on campus next to the library
So Ram was interesting. We know Isak's paying her,but did he get her to take care of his mother, or was it his father? Those ornaments and cards on that shelf almost killed me. That was so sad. Will Isak tell Even about his family one day? Did Even get that orions belt-poster to make Isak feel more at home with him? I hope Isaks brickwalls will fall even more around him in the next chapters. He need to open up to heal.
isak got her to take care of his mom, though he didn’t ~hire~ her, per se? she’s an au pair from the philippines who renewed her permit for another two years, which means she’s been studying in norway for her last two years of finishing her nursing degree and another two interning and, of course, raising experience by taking care of isak’s mother. she was chosen specifically by isak because she had experience with schizophrenia and senior care. though au pairs are usually hired for child care, isak needed someone to look after his mother at her worst, so ram accepted. in exchange, he pays her a weekly stipend + sends her money for groceries and the like, and has a house to stay in while studying/working in norway, and though isak didn’t ask her to, ram would send him updates of how his mother was doing, health-wise, all the time. she’s a great woman, but she’s going back to the philippines soon, which is why she was so adamant about isak reconciling with his mother, since she won’t be there to keep her company anymore.
also, i know. his mom loves him SO much. we’re gonna see just how much in the next chapter. isak’s pov has been so limited, i feel like in the first chapters he resented her a lot, but mostly because he needed to cling to the things he didn’t like about the way his mother raised him, because if he thought too long about what he did like, he’d feel guilty for leaving her again.
yes, even got that poster for isak for the same reason :)
Jack isn’t sure if he’s ever going to recover from this.
He’d like to think that his impulse control is pretty good, actually, when it
comes to sex, but – this is different.
Bittle is different.
And maybe it’s because it’s because of how he’s swinging his
hips to the music, or how the lyrics of this song (whatever the hell it is,
Jack has no idea) are way too raunchy for your average college party, but Jack
can’t help but feel attracted to Bittle at that moment.
Seriously attracted. Like, he’d known Bittle was cute
– he’s not really a robot, after all – but he’d never really connected that to
the concept of Bittle being sexy. Which he is. Very.
Slowly, Jack rakes his eyes up and down Bittle’s form from
his spot just off the makeshift dancefloor. He studies Bittle’s sweat-shiny
hair and obscenely short shorts; knows that he probably isn’t being subtle enough,
but then again, no one seems to be looking at him.
Then, he locks eyes with Bittle.
Bittle winks. Jack almost drops his drink – almost.
Instead, he takes a shaky breath and tries for a smile. Watches in half awe,
half dismay as Bittle practically struts over to him, still appealing as hell
even though he can’t walk in a straight line.
“Jack!” Bittle shouts over the music. His face is lit up
like Jack’s his entire world and in that moment, Bittle is his.
“Hey, Bittle,” Jack says. Keep it cool, Zimmermann. “Too
much tub juice?”
Bittle laughs, tipping his head back so that the disco
lights spinning around the room highlight his cheeks, his nose, his mouth.
“Never,” he replies, and grabs one of Jack’s clammy hands. “Dance with me?”
Jack knows he should say no because being in close proximity
to Bittle is painful enough like this, let alone if they’re grinding up against
each other. He’s supposed to say no because he’s older and his anxiety always
gets the better of him and because he’s the captain and Bittle won’t even
remember any of this the next morning –
Bittle bats his eyelashes and Jack is a fucking goner.
“Okay, but only one song,” Jack concedes. Bittle tugs on his
hand, grinning, and Jack is dragged through the pulsating crowd right to the
centre of the room. He finishes his drink and lets the cup roll off somewhere
on the floor before turning to Bittle.
“I don’t really know how to dance,” Jack admits, lowering
his head to Bittle’s ear. Bittle shivers and Jack wonders if he’s just cold or
if he’s attracted to him too – not that he can do anything about it.
“That’s okay!” Bittle takes his
hands and swings them to the beat of the music. Jack is very much aware that he
must look like a prized idiot, clutching at the hands of the first man he has
been attracted to in a long, long time. Still, he thinks, as Bittle
steps a little closer, maybe looking like an idiot isn’t such a bad thing.
