How to Watch Eurovision tonight!

Hello Europe, this is emptyjerrycan calling!

If you’re anything like me, you’re extremely excited for the first Semi-Final of Eurovision 2015. I have a detailed post about tonight’s semi-finalists coming up in a few hours. But, you may not be sure about how you’re going to actually watch Eurovision. No worries! Here are the answers to your pleas!

  • Watch it on your television set! Each participating country has their own broadcast accompanied by national commentators. If you’re in the UK, tune in to BBC 3, if you’re in Belgium, tune into één, if you’re in the Netherlands, tune into NPO1, and so on.
  • If there’s no tv, you can watch the BBC 3 broadcast live on iPlayer. It’s only available in the UK, but if you can find a way to trick your browser into thinking you’re British (with Hola! for example) you can still tune in.
  • If you want to watch the contest without commentary because you want to actually hear the hosts talking, there is an official livestream of the contest on
  • This year for the first time, the contest will also be streamed on YouTube, which should take the strain off of the Eurovision website.
  • If you can’t watch the contest live, the full broadcast will also be available on the Eurovision website afterwards.

The first semi-final starts at 21:00 Central European Time. You can convert that into your own time zone by looking here.

The first place winner, the second place winner, and one of five third place winners from the UN Women Comic and Cartoon Competition on Gender Equality 2015.

“UN Women together with the European Commission, the Belgian Development Cooperation, and UNRIC organized a Comic and Cartoon Competition on Gender Equality in 2015. The competition invited young European comic and cartoon artists and art students, aged 18 to 28 years, to picture their understanding of women’s rights and gender equality through cartoons and comics. The comics and cartoons had to be without words. Finalists were selected by a jury composed of professional comic artists, gender equality experts and communication experts.”

You never get to pick headlines but this one will do! ;)

Thank you to the generous and delightful Alex Abad-Santos for the interview. I had a blast, I hope you guys enjoy the resulting VOX piece!

Let’s chat about Kadeisha Buchanan

Okay tumblr, I know you guys are all super into CanWNT youngster Jessie Fleming. She’s 17, she’s a force, and she’s cute, what’s not to love. Realistically though, Jessie will only be used as a sub. So let’s talk about a girl who is a main stay in our starting XI and also happens to be 19.

Kadeisha Buchanan

Fun fact, along with Christine Sinclair, there is only one member of the Canadian roster who was started every game of 2015. Do you know who that is? Kadeisha Buchanan.

The sophomore at Western Virginia University was semi-finalist for the MAC Hermann trophy this year. That makes her only one of 4 sophomore’s  out of 35 semi-finalists.

The defender has played appeared in 36 games, had 33 starts and scored 2 goals.

“I’m not frightened to say it. She’s the Sinclair of defenders,” John Herdman said in May 2014 after Buchanan and Abby Wambach faced off in a 1-1 draw in Winnipeg. “She’s that good.”

Magical Ribbons Bow Release Unwrapping 2014!

Are you ready for some new bows?! This year there is an added bonus! One of you will win the present of your choice once they are all opened!

How to enter!

  1. Follow MagicalRibbons on tumblr!
  2. Reblog this post at least once, tell me what number box you want to open when reblogging!
  3. Then after each box is open, there will be a new post with the previous boxes crossed out. Reblog AT LEAST one of those with the next number you want to open!

I will randomly select a reblog from each one of those posts. (You must have reblogged this initial post) Then there will be 10 semi-finalists (one chosen from each post, not including this one.  And the winner will be randomly selected from those ten!

Each post must get to 100 notes before the next box can be opened! I want to have enough votes to be able to determine what to open next!

So at the very least you need to reblog this post, and one other present opening post! But you can reblog all the present posts and have a higher chance of winning!

The winner will get whatever is in the present of their choice! Winner will be chosen after all the boxes have been opened!
