self portrait studio

Daguerreotype self-portrait of German photographer Hermann Carl Eduard Biewend, September 7, 1847.

I had a little break from drawing these past few days, but now I’m back home and I’ve made myself a new portrait and a new header :)

The objects in the pattern are:
♡ A Hufflepuff scarf
♡ The mug that Jiji and Kiki buy in ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’
♡ A laptop showing an excerpt of the fanfiction 'Carry On’ that Cath writes in Rainbow Rowell’s 'Fangirl’
♡ The music box from Ariel’s grotto in 'The Little Mermaid’
♡ 'An Imperial Affliction’, Hazel’s favorite book in John Green’s 'The Fault in Our Stars’
♡ Leslie Knope’s waffle necklace from 'Parks and Recreation’

Drawing Studio 1: Performed Self-Portrait

“This piece represents how I perceive my alter ego - a bookworm. I decided to place stacks of books on either side of me to represent how books are my world. My medium for this piece was graphite.”

We love seeing students get inspired by our library! Thanks to Studio Arts student Ashley for letting us post her self-portrait and her thoughts on the piece.
