self educations

the whole idea of “stay in school!!!!” is great and all but hard to hear when you’re someone who couldn’t stay in school

so here’s a post for every person who’s had to drop out of school. whether it was due to illness or money or just because you didn’t want to be there, you’re no less of a person for dropping out. you own your own life, and you’re just as important as people who were able to graduate

Dear College Applicants,

I think it’s around Early Decision/Action time, as well as time for everyone to finish up college applications, so I just wanted to share a few tips on how to go about this process.

1.  Try your best to stay calm. No matter what, at the end of this, you will end up somewhere.

2.     If you’re dream school costs too much, don’t sacrifice everything to go. A degree is a degree. Get it, then maybe look into your dream school for grad if you chose to do so.

3.     Your first destination isn’t necessarily your final destination. You CAN transfer schools if you don’t like where you end up.

4.     Make sure you’re comfortable with your decision. If you have a feeling you wont like it there, don’t succumb to pressure from anyone else. No one knows you better than you know yourself.

And for those of you who didn’t get into that dream school:

Your worth is not determined based on who chose to accept you. All of your accomplishments in your life cannot not be projected into your SAT scores and GPA. It’s their loss. You will do great things and thrive anywhere. It’s not about where you go, it’s about what you do there.

More to come later x

Can we take a moment to appreciate how intelligent and thoughtful Billie Joe Armstrong is? Like he always talks about the fact that he’s uneducated, but I sort of disagree with that… I wouldn’t call him uneducated, I’d call him self-educated. He never completed formal education but it’s obvious from his words and actions that he reads a lot, that he’s always keeping himself informed about the things going on in the world, and that he does a lot of deep thinking. I know a lot of people with college degrees who don’t do that.

Haven’t had much time to draw for myself lately so I couldn’t help but indulge myself after watching that episode. It was absolutely beautiful and hats off to the crew and to Takafumi Hori for such a gorgeous episode.

(sorry I don’t have enough musical instrument prowess to play accompaniment)

EDIT: I can’t believe I posted this and I forgot the butterflies *facepalms*
