self assertiveness

Chiron

The little asteroid in your chart that represents healing. Take note Chiron is hard to draw up, some sites and charts don’t always pick it up. The one I like to use is through astrotheme.com. Chiron can talk about healing from “past lives” and other times it is considered where you are naturally wounded in life. I am going to concentrate on the “wounds” in life and issues one might have to overcome, as well as how one can heal.

Aries Chiron: The wound is in the ego. They may have low self-esteem, shy away from conflict and individualism. Healing comes from concentrating on the self. Finding assertiveness and confidence. Once healing starts they can push others into action, encourages confidence, challenges others identity.

Taurus Chiron: Wound in security. Might feel uprooted and unstable throughout life. Insecure in their own strength. Healing is all about finding inner security. They help others by being strong and stable for them.

Gemini Chiron: All about wounds in communication. Finds it hard to express themselves, connect, and can never seem to find the right words. Can easily be misunderstood, prefers to observe and worries their intellect will be judged. Healing comes from expressing themselves, they must find their voice and not fear wounding words or misunderstandings. Helps others speak their mind and find their voice.

Cancer Chiron: Wound is emotional, especially with facing abandonment, coldness, or unhealthy attachment in life. Associated with having stress directly linked to the body, an unhealthy mind/heart will produce physical sickness. Healing comes from finding their inner mother, learn self-nurturing, compassion, healing, and protection. Healing comes from learning healthy detachment. Helps to nurture and protect others. Encourages others.

Leo Chiron: Struggles with self-expression, wound is in the ego, can lack confidence and empowerment. Associated with head vs. heart issues. Healing comes by finding outlets and tools of empowerment, must develop their confidence. Then they can help empower others.

Virgo Chiron: Associated with pushing oneself too hard, nervous energy, anxiety, harsh self-criticism, easily used by others. Healing comes from self-acceptance, helping others on their own terms, and by learning tolerance. Has the ability to serve others in a meaningful way and shows others balance between judgment and tolerance.

Libra Chiron: Wound is centered on self love and loving others. Gives into self-hate, losing identity, selfishness, jealousy, insecurity. Is prone to giving in, being manipulated, and abused for the sake of a relationship or approval from another. Healing comes through self-love, putting their needs first, learning what others need. Teaches others how to love.

Scorpio Chiron: Has a huge association with trauma-driven wounds. Their dark side takes over subconsciously. Fear of the world and themselves. Associated with sexual abuse. Has a connection with past life trauma. Associated with family spread or community trauma. Healing comes from accepting the past and facing their dark side. Helps others to face their inner darkness and trauma. Could help a community overcome their darkness.

Sagittarius Chiron: Wound is in their belief system and mind. Might be discouraged or suppressed by a belief system. Loses their morals. Could be closed-minded, associated with corrupt morals, might have hatred towards a belief system.  Healing comes from learning a new perspective. By exploring their own and others beliefs. Helps to open others’ minds.

Capricorn Chiron: Wound has to do with authority and quiet suffering. Struggles with authority figures, finds it hard to gain their own authority. Might be apathetic or cold to others but more cold to themselves, too much control in their life, struggles with power.  Healing comes by finding their inner authority and/or learning to sympathize with others and themselves. Shows others how to take charge of their destiny, shows a different way to sympathize with others.

Aquarius Chiron: Wound is based on not being accepted into society. Easily feels outcasted, rejected, alienated, maybe even a scapegoat. Healing comes by accepting their individualism, learns to feed their needs first before society. Helps others essentially say forget society. Pushes individualism.

Pisces Chiron: Wound is spiritual. Lose their own imagination/creativity, finds it hard to set firm beliefs, inner conflict with beliefs. Heals by integrating their beliefs into their daily life. Helps others to accept and learn their own divine system.

I get emotional when I realize that awkward, shy, gentle Barry Allen transforms into this brazen, commanding leader who would kill for Iris West, and when I realize that assertive, self-assured Iris West lets herself be vulnerable and protected by Barry Allen.

Last night my boyfriend and I had a conversation about my level of assertiveness.

I went out of my way to try and avoid this crazy girl who I thought was going to try and follow me when I left the campus. Now, I don’t live in a particularly dangerous city but my personal policy for the past few years (because of horrible experiences) has been don’t piss off crazy people. Be nice and run away first chance. Lest I become a permanent resident of their basement refrigerator.

My having to avoid this person made me late to meet up with my bf for dinner and when I explained why he couldn’t believe I wasn’t more forward with this person and told them off for being creepy.

I never used to be so meek. I used to stand up for myself a lot more when I was a teenager. I never thought my quiet boyfriend would be telling a loud WOP like myself that I’m being too submissive. At first I was ashamed. I feel like I’ve let myself down in a way. I let strangers bully me…

But it isn’t the end if the world I realized. I became this meek person as a defense mechanism because of past experiences with people who have harmed me. And it is just that… A defense. One of many types of defenses in one’s arsenal. And if I truly wanted to change, now’s the time to swap out the guns.

I vow, from here on out, to be assertive, confident and just. I will not let other people bully me into feeling scared or awkward. I will not be bullied by myself either. I will not let my past ruin me.

Lions do not lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.
And nor should I.

What is Appropriate Assertiveness?

An assertive person is someone who:

1. Values themselves and other people equally

2. Has the confidence to say both “yes” and “no” – without feeling that they have to defend their position

3. Is willing and able to stand up for themselves, and ensures they are treated with fairness and respect

4. Takes responsibility for their own needs

5. Takes responsibility for their words and their behaviour – and admits when they have failed, or have made a mistake

6. Expresses their true feelings in an honest way (while being respectful and considerate of others)

7. Can handle disagreements in an open, healthy way so problems are addressed (instead of being ignored or hidden.)

Chart Hemispheres

There are four hemispheres based on your houses – the Eastern, Northern, Western, and Southern hemispheres. Despite logical thinking, the Southern hemisphere is on the top of the chart, the Northern hemisphere is on the bottom of the chart, the Western hemisphere is on the right side of the chart, and the Eastern hemisphere is on the left side of the chart as seen below.

The Eastern Hemisphere consists of the 10th, 11th, 12th, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd houses. When a majority of your planets are in the Eastern hemisphere, you tend to be more self-motivated and assertive, and you make decisions based on your personal understanding. You hate not being in control of your fate.

The Western Hemisphere consists of the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th houses. When a majority of your planets are in the Western hemisphere, you are more concerned with others, and you are more motivated by the matters of other people. While you do posess free will, you are less likely to take hold of your own destiny.

The Northern Hemisphere consists of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th houses. When a majority of your planets are in the Northern hemisphere, you are more introspective and private. You are quieter, and you prefer to be in your own little world rather than in the world of others.

The Southern Hemisphere consists of the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th houses. When a majority of your planets are in the Southern Hemispheres, you are more extroverted and outgoing. You treasure your social life, and you are more interested in the world around you than your own world.

insecure voltron things:

  • shiro sometimes thinks of his arm as a curse and hates how a part of him is actually the enemy and is scared that his arm will end up being a source of evil instead of good
  • pidge is always worried that she’ll never be taken seriously bc of her age so she constantly is working to prove herself to others
  • lance worries that he goes too far sometimes because sure he has an outward personality but he thinks that maybe he went too far past someones comfort zone or made a mistake too large for forgiveness
  • keith sometimes wonders if he really is wanted somewhere bc they might need him for something but do they want him there ? do they enjoy his presence ?? he knows hes not the biggest people person but he does try his hardest and while he is very self asserted and independent, he hopes that he is surrounded by people that love him
  • hunk feels regret when he thinks something bad happened because he didn’t help enough or try hard enough. he loves to lend a hand and help and if the results arent good he shoulders that responsibility onto himself and mulls over how he couldve done better or what he shouldve done to avoid that outcome even though it would’ve been impossible to know what would happen

Aries - Painting the town Blood Red

The exuberant life force that erupts from the Aries is spirited, radiant, wild, and free. Startling self assertion, crackling intuition, and a fireball of energy streak through life and lead with a fire dance of colour, creativity, and peril. Blood red is the colour of Aries and ruling planet Mars governs the bloodstream and fevers. The Aries temperament is aggressive in its quest for new experiences, reckless in its abandon for discovery, excitable, and flammable. The individual’s unique and daring style is flashy and embarks through territories where angels fear tread. A restless and novel expression is the spark that sets alight the whole cosmic inferno. There is little life could throw at the Aries that intimidates or confronts. The individual faces her demons head on and rarely indulges in emotional concerns of martyrdom.

Aries burn all their bridges, but these become torches that light new ways. Steven Forrest refers to Aries as the ‘life force’, the will to exist. And the Aries is built of will, it’s a coursing indwelling vital energy that drives fear and demons away. The individual relishes in provoking the environment for a destructive response and pushing the dominoes down the stairs to reap havoc. Life is flighty, fun, and relished in the midst of chaos for Aries. The individual is a formidable trailblazer who develops new insights and pockets of revelation. Aries is the expression of the purist humanistic instinct, the primitive reactions of man, a groundbreaker who reads more maps than books. Her inner and outer landscape is wide and filled with memories of discovery and innovation. There is combustion in her body, a flame that sizzles on the tip of twirlers, she is a fireball that spins through the sky, her mind and body operate a million miles an hour.

Aries people typically ignore the wisdom and plights of their elders in her blissful worldly search. She wants to indulge in every spice and experience the thrill of every freefall, trampoline, and sky jump. It’s like she is standing on a cloud top with one foot teetering off the edge, ready to drop into a new wicked wonderland at any impulsive moment. The love of her life and most incandescent romance is that with herself, the fight for her identity, and the charge to realise how much of life she can saturate herself with. Aries teaches the zodiacs to raise their cosmic swords in battle, a warrior goddess with a heart of iron as we conquest our darkest fears and most vicious terrors. The world is never the same after the Aries flame has erupted and splayed blood red paint on every flickering lantern.

Star Trek: Pavel Chekov [ENFP]

OFFICIAL TYPING by Charity / The Mod

Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Chekov has a quick mind that easily adapts to its environment, and sees many possibilities as tangible realities. He can “do dat!” when necessary and doesn’t hesitate to leap into action when and wherever he is needed. Even though he’s a bit overwhelmed when asked to take over the mechanics of the ship, Chekov can explain to Kirk the ways the damage has impacted the core and what is likely to happen as a result. He’s animated, incredibly energetic, and often leaps into situations before he fully thinks through all the mechanics necessary to get through them.

Introverted Feeling (Fi): He’s a sensitive, compassionate, and gentle soul, mindful of other’s emotional needs and rarely self-assertive in expressing his opinions. You don’t really know what Chekov thinks about personal issues, because he doesn’t over-share. He cares deeply about his friends and seems to worry about letting them down. He isn’t influenced by other people’s emotions, so much as he is guided by his belief in his own abilities.

Extroverted Thinking (Te): He lacks Scotty’s technical abilities to improvise creative solutions; instead, Chekov sometimes gets stuck on the facts of the situation. When he and Kirk crash-land, and must improvise in the environment, Chekov doubts Kirk can pull it off, and starts pointing out the facts of the situation (“Do you even know what it LOOKS like??”). He seems content to let Kirk come up with solutions. Chekov tends more to follow along, and use more obvious methods to problem-solve.

Introverted Sensing (Si): His former experiences give him the confidence to assert that he can do things with a relative degree of success, but other than that, Chekov shows very little interest in the details (like taking over the engine room from Scotty). He sometimes references Russian culture, in order to impress girls (“Did you know the Russians invented…?”).

“Mutual aid, even though it may represent one of the factors of evolution, covers nevertheless one aspect only of human relations; that by the side of this current, powerful though it may be, there is, and always has been, the other current — the self-assertion of the individual, not only in its efforts to attain personal or caste superiority, economical, political, and spiritual, but also in its much more important although less evident function of breaking through the bonds, always prone to become crystallized, which the tribe, the village community, the city, and the State impose upon the individual. In other words, there is the self-assertion of the individual taken as a progressive element.
It is evident that no review of evolution can be complete, unless these two dominant currents are analyzed. However, the self-assertion of the individual or of groups of individuals, their struggles for superiority, and the conflicts which resulted therefrom, have already been analyzed, described, and glorified from time immemorial. In fact, up to the present time, this current alone has received attention from the epical poet, the annalist, the historian, and the sociologist. History, such as it has hitherto been written, is almost entirely a description of the ways and means by which theocracy, military power, autocracy, and, later on, the richer classes’ rule have been promoted, established, and maintained.”
- Peter Kropotkin, Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution (1902)

Saying “No” to Others

1. Have a plan for your day, week, month and life. If you know where you’re going and what it will take, you have an easy reason to turn others down.

2. Recognise what it will cost if you give in and say “yes”. Saying “yes” once or twice may not push you to the edge. But those “yeses” sure add up and can cause a lot of stress.

3. Recognise that it’s OK to say “no” from time to time. It doesn’t mean that you’re the enemy or someone difficult. We are free to make decisions and choose for ourselves.

4. Say “no” by the medium that you’re comfortable with. For example, send an email if it’s easier to try and write things down, or if you’re not really good at saying “no” face to face.

5. Don’t over-explain or say more than you need. You don’t have to get permission from someone to say “no”. It’s not up to them to decide if it’s OK.

6. Don’t make it too easy for others to contact you. If you’re hard to track down often people just won’t try – so keep yourself busy or switch your laptop off.

7. Rehearse in advance so you feel more confident, or even take some time to write down what you will say.

8. Delay saying “yes” as that says you’re not that keen – so when the person hears a “no” then it’s really no surprise.
