Skype Event ( 28/07/2017 )

Hey, kids! So me and @ofeire are officially going to make the Skype event a thing for Benjamin Taylor and Ealga O’ Broin’s wedding! As you all know this is a thing we’ve been awaiting to do for quite some time so I am super duper excited about it. If you can see Ealga or Benjamin inviting your character to the wedding, or you would at least like to spectate and comment on what is to happen in the chat, please feel free to LIKE / REBLOG this post and I will write your URL down and ask for you skype name unless I already have it. That way, it will be easier to add you into the Skype group!

This event will take place on Friday around 3:00 PM (PCT)  /  11:00 PM (UTC+01:00), if you need help calculating what time that should be in your country, do let me or Meg know and we will help. That being said that in case there comes to any changes in the arrangements, we will make sure to post about it and let everyone know on time.

Preferably, you should have your character’s name or URL in your Skype name so that people know who you are or who you play. This way we won’t be cluttered with unknown people and there will be no need to spam the chat with OOC details. If this by some chance manages to make you uncomfortable or you’d rather not do this, please let us know.

This too is semi important but if you want to do any dash commentary on the event, you should totally tag your post as “ BEW 2k17 “ —- as in Ben and Ealga Wedding 2k17.

           Some basic rules would be:

  • No OOC drama
  • IC drama is okay
  • Stay on subject of the event
  • Try to be active in the chat
  • No spamming the chat
  • If you don’t like someone in the chat, for the sake of the event, just try and ignore them. We are all there to have fun
  • No godmodding! All that will happen (such as wrecking a palace or potentially murder) has been discussed already beforehand
  • Just be nice and respectful to the other participants
  • Before the event starts, I would like everyone to reread everyone’s rule pages so that there won’t be any awkward moments if any of us mess something up. This might be a little much to ask but I do see it as important
  • Again, have fun and be respectful!

Some things that will happen in the event have already been plotted out, but if you would like to suggest something, do let us know and we’ll take note. For now, this is the most you guys need to know! With that, I thank you all and wish you all a good day.

So, woody’s roundup was really great, but people started to just grab ANY deactivated URL- which was no bueno. It was only intended to target bad people, and taking innocent people’s URL’s was just…wrong. So the Woodysroundup blog deactivated, and now the actual original woodys (the ones with the bad people’s blogs) have started to change to that spongebob icon and the title “orgasm” on their blog.

Also, there’s a real gross person behind the Stinky Pete retaliation, and all the stinky pete icons you might see are people that are your typical “i love my waifu and 800 guns” people who just arent good.

UPDATE: Stinky Pete was banned from the site.what he did wrong was basically excuse another user saying “futa isnt transphobic” and “actually child porn is Good”, as well as say that nazis on this website arent something to worry about because “theyre a tad too cowardly to [be a nazi] in real life!”

One frustrating thing about not being able to disable safe mode is not being able to look at blogs marked as NSFW at all.

When Tumblr has you marked as a minor, NSFW blogs are allowed to follow you but you can’t see them back.

You can only see that a NSFW blog is following you, but you have no more information on them then their URL because you can’t see any content on their blog, or even the blog’s description.

This creates a power imbalance. The adults can look at you, but you can’t look at the adults. You can’t tell why they’re marked NSFW. Are they a porn blog looking at your selfies? A pedophile blog? A harmless blog that reblogs nudes on occasion?

Anyone can mark their blog NSFW and therefore prevent minors from being able to see their content, effectively shielding them from view and criticism, no matter the potentially offensive, dangerous, or harmful content or intentions of the blogowner.

Minors therefore have little control over who follows them. Either they block every blog following them marked as NSFW, or they leave it to chance and don’t block any, hoping the blog is benign.

(Ok to reblog)

Hi everyone! I’ve had this blog for a little over a year now, and it has made such a huge difference! I remember feeling overwhelmed when I made this blog, so I thought I would make a little welcome-to-the-community guide for those of you who are looking to make a study blog of your own.

the basics

  • Why start a study blog (aka studyblr) in the first place? Because you want to be motivated to do better in school, want to find new ideas, or just because you like pretty stationery. There are a ton of good reasons to start one, so go for it!
  • What do I have to do to be a studyblr? Make a blog and follow some other study blogs. That’s pretty much it. There are no GPA requirements, supply lists, or complicated rules.

how to start a blog

  • You can either start a whole new blog (make a new account), make a side blog, or start posting study tips from your current blog. It all depends on your personal preference and how much you use the blog you have now.
  • Your url is an important part of your blog because it lets people know what you’ll be posting about. Your name + studies is a common url to see, but you can get more creative if you choose!
  • I suggest avoiding tumblr default themes and instead finding one you like from @theme-hunter. If you don’t have any experience with coding, you can pick up the basics you need to install a theme from Youtube.
  • After you have your blog all set up, make a post introducing yourself. Include a little bit about yourself like your name, grade level, major (if you have one), interests, and tag your favorite blogs so that they can help get the word out about you!

connecting with the community

  • Message/send asks introducing yourself to other blogs. It’s easy and it works, study bloggers are usually really friendly and welcoming!
  • Enter blog of the month or blog awards to get your name out there.
  • Send random asks, just because. It makes people smile!

creating original posts

  • You don’t have to make your own posts, but it helps to get your name out there and it’s nice to be able to share your own study tips.
  • For pictures, try posting your notes, study setup, or favorite supplies. Good lighting and editing with an app like VSCOcam will make them more appealing and get more notes.
  • Making masterposts is my favorite way to create content. Think of any topic that you know about or would like to learn about, and write out a post of resources or tips.
  • Canva is a great free site for making graphics
  • Tag your posts with relevant tags like #studyblr #studyspo, as well as the urls of different blogs as people will usually reblog posts they have been tagged in.

making your blog work for you

  • Above all, having a study blog is about improving your study habits.
  • Create a good tagging system so that you can find posts later. It should be simple and easy to remember (this post would go under #masterpost #new studyblr #tips for me).
  • Find a study buddy or group to keep you motivated
  • Reblog only things that you find inspiring, regardless of how you think your blog should look.
  • Start the 100 days of productivity challenge to stay accountable
  • Install a site blocker so that you can log off and focus!

Welcome to the community! I hope that you find it as beneficial as I have, and I look forward to meeting some new faces!

moodboard based on url

yes thats right im making moodboard aesthetics based on your url. if your url is fandom based perfect, if its not its okay, ill make a moodboard based on what i think of when i see your url or through browsing your blog.

  • must be following me, this aint free labour (im actually joking i never check who follows me or not so its all up to you)
  • send me an ask with one song, it could be anything, current or not (this wont affect your moodboard i just need song recs)
  • reblog this post, its free advertising for me (im joking i just want a lot of moodboards to do so spread the word)
  • it might take me a little while to do all of them, ill be doing them slowly but i will do all of them
A FC Directory Masterlist

**Please note: I do not own any rights to any of the directories listed below. I’ve simply compiled this list for easier access to page/blog directories. All directories will be linked and credited properly by the blog posted. If you see your directory on this list and wish for its removal at any time (or if I’ve credited the wrong url), contact me and I’ll do so. If you do not see a directory on this list you feel should be added, contact me with the page link and I’ll add it. As always, like/reblog if you found this useful.

HOW TO MAKE A MASTERLIST!

A lot of people have recently asked me how to make a masterlist so I made a ‘tutorial’ to help you guys! I hope it helps!

Step One: Open the text option in the Tumblr menu bar.

Step Two: Type in the title and type in the words you want to connect the link to.

Step Three: Copy the URL you want to use.

Step Four: Double click the words you want to connect the link to.

Step Five: Click the infinity sign thing this what you use to connect the link to the text.

Step Six: Then paste your copied URL into the box that pops up and click done!

Part Seven: You should see the three options below pop up if you did it right, and we all know sometimes things get lost along their way on Tumblr, so to be sure click the open option and see if it takes you to your link!

Hoped this helped, this is the simpliest and easiest way to explain it, because I used to look it up but those videos are with the older version, so yeah, much love and lots of hugs and kisses!

So I’m working on a long, arduous project of collecting book blog URLs for this page right here. (They’re not all linked up yet, but I’m working on it; that’s the arduous part.)

  • If you run a blog that’s 75%+ about books and would like to be added, let me know in the way you most prefer (reblog and say so, reply to this post, send me an ask or an IM).
  • If you see your blog on the page and would like to be removed, also let me know.
  • If you can confirm if any of the listed blogs in the top half have 5000+ followers, let me know so I can move them to the correct section.
  • If you know of anyone else you want me to add, tag them so I can see them!
  • Please reblog this post regardless of whether you want added or not so other book blogs can see and choose whether or not to participate!
My ClexaCon 2017 Experience

(Before you read: I got pretty personal in this post. I could have beaten around the issue, but I have had a lot of people in the past message me that my story is a lot like theirs and if my honesty can help others that are struggling, it will be worth it.)

First off, I would like to extend my thanks and gratitude towards the people that made the convention happen. My experience is just one of hundreds of LGBTQ+ individuals that attended this convention, that is changed their life of for the better. As we all know there is a TON of stuff that has to happen bts, that we don’t know the full extent of, to make conventions happen. Like, I don’t even want to think about all the work it takes. I just want all of the people that had a part in making this convention happen, whether you were a staff member, panelist, guest, volunteer, etc. that your time, effort, and possibly sacrificing parts of your own con experience to make sure people like myself were able to enjoy it is so greatly appreciated.

As someone who has been known in the fandom to analyzed things and can ramble on and on for days, it might be a surprise to you that I am left at a loss for words to write about the convention. I can’t find the words to encapsulate what it meant to me and the feelings I was experiencing –not to mention the complexity of those feelings. I have tried to write this so many times, but then draw a complete blank on how to describe it.

If I had to describe what Clexacon was to me in one word it would be a sanctuary. It was a place where I felt safe and content. I felt hope and peacefulness spreading throughout my body each day I was there. The more I hung out with people, went to panels, or just observed everyone around me walking around the convention, the more and more I felt the weight of all the years of self-hate, repression, etc. lift from my body and a sense of clarity wash over me. I was legit feeling like Alex Danvers as each wave of repressed memory came to the surface and critically looking at my life. Going to the panels was also a big part of that process. I began to look more in-depth at the underlying reason of the severe self-hatred I felt for so many years, years of struggling with anxiety and depression, the eating disorders that almost cost me my life, the purposeful secluding myself from others, and the loneliness I felt even though I was in a room full of people came to the surface. I was trying to process all of these emotions at once and it was very scary. But, it was like a peaceful liberating panic? If that makes sense? It was finally confessing to myself everything that I knew for years, like completely confessing to myself…but then panicking about it. Because, it’s me and I’m a chronic overthinker. Lol. Each day I would get more and more courage to be myself, to push past all the years of internalized homophobia that made me feel worthless and ‘wrong’.

Being surrounded by openly gay people that were authentically happy and full of pride for being part of the LGBTQ+ community was palpable in the air and you couldn’t help but feed off the energy. As someone who unfortunately doesn’t have this is my everyday life, I was trying to soak all of it in and store it in my memories to access it when I went back to my world of homophobic close-minded remarks. Clexacon was a place where I could be my true authentic self, or at least try to be. My authentic self with it came out to nerding about fictional characters, stories, etc. that I can’t talk to people about in my normal life. Also, my authentic self when it came to being part of this community.

Now, onto the convention itself. I was fortunate enough to make it to the Badge Pick Up party due to my flight getting in an hour early, and the wonderful appalachiansprung  for picking me up from the Las Vegas airport. I want to take a moment and sincerely thank her for offering to pick me up from the airport and making sure I felt safe. She knew I had massive anxiety about traveling and her compassion and willingness to help me really meant the world to me. She really helped start off my trip to Vegas on a positive note, and without her, I wouldn’t have made it to the Badge Pick Up party, which I actually really enjoyed. I was able to meet my friends I had been talking to online, been mutuals of, knew of, and meet new people. It was just so surreal actually being face-to-face with these people. These people that you are friends with, but society telling you they “aren’t friends” because you don’t physically hang out with each other and it is only online.  But these people actually know you better than people in your “everyday life”. For instance, the first person I met was my friend PJ. The weird thing was is that I was in the process of messaging her that I was at the party, and just as I was about to send it, I look to my right and she was standing there next to me, not aware that it was me next to her. I stopped typing and then said “hi” and it was the first of many “omg! You ARE real” feelings I had meeting people throughout the convention. I really REALLY enjoyed talking with the people who came up to me and said they were followers of my blog. Seriously, knowing that there are actual people behind URLS and seeing your faces and hearing your voices was incredible. When I asked the people I met to show me what their URL and icon was, I was able to recognize most of you and your support and kind words meant more to me than I can say.

The convention itself was better than I had expected. It was actually my first ever convention so I don’t really have anything to compare it too, but it was just so wonderful. The turnout was wayyyyy better than I expected. Seeing everyone in the main hall during the larger panels was just incredible, as well as seeing the floods of people roaming around the convention floor. We all know there were people trying to cast doubt on this convention and basically said it was “toxic” and were basically trying to get it canceled. Well, I’m so glad that this past weekend proved them SO SO wrong. It was so cool going up and down the vendor rows and seeing the spectacular artwork. I did only get one piece of artwork from the convention and it was Pappurrcat’s newest Lexa vs. Pauna drawing and she signed it for me (picture at bottom of post). I was not expecting to see @immochiball there! It was such a pleasant surprise to see her there! I really love her Lexacoon/Lionclarke artwork and it was great to show my appreciation for all her hardwork and it was funny that she knew exactly what piece of Lexacoon/LionClarke artwork I was fangirling about. It was so great to meet other talented people in our fandom I’m a fan or and friends of, or became friends of. People like @critter-of-habit , @foomatic , @commanderlexaofthegrounders , @decalexas , @lingeringlilies@shes-special , @rin-says , @damnlexa, @molliemashstash , @oh-i-got-dibs , and i’m forgetting so many people so I’m sorry if i forgot you! I met sooooo many new people that I just clicked with and they made the convention an even better experience. Many of them in this photo below (but many are missing):

I will never forget the people I was fortunate enough to meet, talk to, and/or hang out with. I loved walking around Vegas with people and exploring places. So, by the end of this convention I have come to realize so many things. Realize so many things about LGBTQ+ issues, the dire need for representation, and about myself. I realized that I’m not alone. Leaving Clexacon was so hard. I already posted that I had a breakdown on the last day after I headed back to my hotel room and had to say goodbye to the people i met. The people I wanted to spend more time, as they were helping me more and more each day with feelings that I do deserve happiness, that I’m not alone, that there is nothing wrong with me, that I have value. This weekend was life changing for me. Even though this post is now close to 1,500 words…I still have not been able to fully express the importance this convention had on me in this post. I’m just so grateful for the experience and the wonderful people I was so fortunate to meet and now call friends.

I do have a few regrets…and one of them is not taking enough pictures. I was kinda mentally preoccupied (if you couldn’t tell reading this post. lol) and forgot.

BTS when you surprise them with the Korean you have learned

This reaction (as all reactions tbh^^) is a bit unrealistic because I don’t think you could ever date a Korean person in Korea without speaking Korean and vice versa (except if you both speak English well~) BUUUUTTT let’s just imagine this anyway because it’s cute~

All gifs belong to their rightful creators=owners (see urls right under the gifs as always :*). Please support each other and BTS well!

[The Korean in this might be horrible because I’m not very good at it yet so I can’t control well if other people have made mistakes^^ I made half of it a bit more formal and half of it informal speech so you have some variety in it^^]

Sometimes, you absolutely despised how fragile you were as a human being.

You worked for a secret agency who’s main purpose was to act as a personal guard for superheroes. Now, it may seem like having bodyguards for superheroes would be a lost cause, since their duty was to protect the world and save innocent lives with their superpowers. One would like to believe that such heroes would be able to protect themselves, but they didn’t know the half of it.

There’s always some type of danger hidden from their sights, and if the world was to remain safe, then there had to be a group of people that could act as a shield for these superheroes without them knowing about it.

The moment you had completed your training, you were given the name and files pertaining to the hero you were assigned to protect-

And that hero was named Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America.

The Brave Project

Hello Everyone!

So, with Playlist Live and Vidcon having passed, I’ve been seeing a lot of people posting how they’re bummed out they didn’t get into the Dan and Phil m&g, or how they’ll never get to meet them or say anything to them, and I just wanted to say; I feel ya.

And then I had an idea.

What if there was a way for us all to come together, as one big phamily and share some of our stories with these two guys called Dan and Phil who met each other on the internet and have created this entire world?

And so was born The Brave Project!!!!

Introducing the POC!Potter Week of March 19th-25th, from @emmelinevvance and @swearwolflupin!

What this is: If you didn’t already know, the two of us are talking practically 24/7, which means we see all the same things and if one of us hasn’t seen something, the other will probably send it to them sooner or later. Both of us have noticed something pretty obvious - the lack of people of color, aka POC, in the HP fandom. Even if the character is minor, they’re immediately fancast as white (can you sense how salty we are?). According to Emily, “Ok I’m always a slut for jily and I love all edits of them, but I’m also so sick of James being cast as Pasty Generic White Boy™,” which brings us to this!

How it works:

  1. Reblog this post, and if you’re participating, send us an ask and we’ll add you to the page!
    1. If you’re not participating, maybe tag it as signal boost? That way we’ll know who’s who.
    2. In the ask, give us a one to two line description of you please! Or a short quote you like :)
  2. Tag us in your creations in the first five tags (We’ll be tracking #pocpotterweek)
  3. Make sure it includes some mention of a character as a person of color, unless they’re canon poc!
  4. For types of creations: be sure to send your questions our way if you’re not positive about anything!! Adiba’s South Asian and Emily’s white-passing with Armenian roots so we’ll try our best to answer them!
    1. Fanart/Gifsets/Edits/Aesthetics: The fancast should be POC! Mixed race and white-passing counts, if anyone was wondering, and so do Jewish fancasts!
    2. Fanfic: Describe their appearance or have them do something that makes it clear they’re poc: (for example, have the character use a second language, have them study a language for their culture, etc.)
    3. Playlists: The fancast in the cover should be POC or a song should be in a different language/talk about being POC!
    4. Submitting headcanons to the @hp-headcanon blog (which we also run): Essentially the same rules as the fanfic!
  5. We’ll reblog your posts!! We’ll tag them with your url and the type of creation ^.^
  6. Even if you don’t participate, follow us to see everyone’s amazing creations! And maybe our blogs too ;)

The themes:

  • Sunday - Marauders Era
  • Monday - OOTP/Death Eaters/Hogwarts Professors
  • Tuesday - Lightning Era
  • Wednesday - Founders Era
  • Thursday - Favorite Ship
  • Friday - Next Gen Era
  • Saturday - Your Choice!

One last thing - We’re posting this early to ensure that everyone gets to see this, please reblog this to spread the word ^.^ We’re incredibly excited to see all of these!

A Note to Fanfic Readers

With all the talk of mass migrations from Livejournal to DW and other platforms, it occurred to me that now is the time to go through your fanfic bookmarks, find ANY AND ALL that link to a livejournal, and archive the fic you find there, because it may not be there much longer. (This especially pertains to kinkmemes, where the stories aren’t under the ownership of the community’s mods and thus aren’t routinely archived elsewhere.)

If the fic is already gone, you can:

1. Plug the URL into the wayback machine at archive.org or into Google and see if you can find an archived/cached version.
2. See if the username has a mirror on Dreamwidth, an account on Tumblr or another social media platform, or a profile on Archive Of Our Own
3. Search AO3 for the title of the fic (I’d also specify fandom to narrow results)
4. Google the title and author to see if it’s archived on other platforms like fanfiction.net. Remember to put the title in quotes so Google treats it as one term rather than a random string of keywords.

If the fic is not gone, you can:

1. Contact the author and ask if they have it archived anywhere other than LJ because you’d like to update your bookmark. (It wouldn’t hurt to open by giving them some nice comments on their story :D) It would also be polite to ask before you privately archive the story, assuring them it will not be distributed elsewhere if you do.
2. Save the file as an HTML to your hard drive, print it as a PDF, or copy-paste it (including author name and link info) into a document.
3. Get a free account at evernote.com, which has a system where you can clip the full text (and images) of a webpage to their cloud storage and it will save a bookmark as well. I have a tutorial about Evernote here. (Note that evernote’s future itself is uncertain right now.)

Remember to be respectful of the author – do not archive their work anywhere public, offer it to others, or make it available for download. That’s not your job and may be against their wishes. You are archiving the fic for private enjoyment. Nobody takes fic down for no reason, and if they’ve deleted it then you need to respect that they don’t want them publicly visible.

people say the one downside of the lazytown fandom is the fact that they will see the same post over and over bc the fandom is so small,

i actually really like it bc it makes me feel much more like a community vs a fandom

i mean like if i follow you, even if i dont talk to you i 100% know your url, heck even people who i dont follow i recognize

its probably the most family like fandom ive ever been in

so basically according to you it'd be ok for me, a lesbian, to run a blog called "the bisexual experience" despite not being bisexual, or what about "the-trans-label" as a cis person? the word lesbian is a word for women who are EXCLUSIVELY attracted to other women. i don't see why you can't just change your url if you want to reblog straight porn. it continues the society wide idea that lesbians all secretly like men too. even though you're not a lesbian, your blog is called that.

I’m getting really angry now. This is ridiculous. I’ve been dating girls and sleeping with girls exclusively since I was 14, not that I need to justify my ‘qualifiations’ for the URL I have. I’ve explained so many times why my blog is called the lesbian label and how it isn’t meant to be reflective of me but more a reflection of the labels people impose upon us. Like you are with me right now.
And also, can I just say that just because someone reblogs something doesn’t mean they are that. Just because I reblog something straight doesn’t mean I’m straight or that I want that. It means I appreciate that post for what it is and I’m reblogging it. Because i like women doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate other kinds of love. It also doesn’t mean I want that for myself, I can appreciate someone or something without wanting it. stop reading into everything I post and criticising me for it.
I have no desire to be with a boy, none at all. The only reason I don’t like defining myself as a lesbian is because at the end of the day I think we fall for who we fall for and I dont know what the future holds. And whether I was strictly 100% lesbian and only ever would consider being with a female or not, doesn’t change the fact I can still appreciate and reblog things that include males. For fuck sake, being a part of the queer community is all about inclusivity and open mindedness, not condemning people because they don’t fit the mould you want them to. There are different ways to be gay, none of them are any less valid than the other. There are different types of gay, none any less valid than the other. Yes I know what the word lesbian means but it’s not exactly like I’m promoting the hetrosexual agenda on my blog, almost everything I post is gay! I reblog pictures and art, some that are straight and that doesn’t change the validity of my sexual orientation or make me less gay because not all my posts are exclusively girl and girl. It just means I like the post. I’m not changing my URL because the word lesbian is in it. If you listen to me and how I made my URL you’d know why it is what it is. my whole life is about girls, I’m perfectly justified in naming it that. It’s a part of me, a part of how I came out, a part of how I found an escape on a website that for the most part (with the exception of messages like this) is about supporting and celebrating the differences in us and educating each other, building each other up, connecting through art across borders of all kinds, because at the end of the day we are all human beings worthy of love and respect.
Just because I’m gay in a different way to you and just because you might identify as a lesbian and for you that means all straight posts are gross and unworthy of being on your blog, doesn’t make me less gay. Sometimes posting something doesn’t mean I want that for me, it can be about objective appreciation. I’m honestly really sorry if I have offended anyone or you don’t get it or get what I’m saying. But please try to, please think about it for a moment. Please try to understand instead of criticise. And if you can’t understand what I’m saying then ok, you can either unfollow me cause that’s fine or just try to accept the fact that not everyone is going to feel the same way you do about porn, art, sexuality, life, etc so just shut up and respect it.
