Blood is now illegal. Please turn in all contraband blood at your nearest Bureau Of Life Processing Facility. The Bureau Of Life would like to remind you that there is no such thing as vampires. Discussing the existence of vampires or any role they may play in government is sedition and treason.

I am excited to announce  my collection of audio-visual editions through Seditions is now available.  The collection is called ‘Rayleigh Scattering’ includes ‘Blue.Hour’, ’Stillness.Subtropical’ and ’Stillness.Oceanic’.  Buy them separately or together for a 15% discount.  ‘Blue.Hour’ is screening at the Loop Festival in Barcelona this week and ’Stillness.Subtropical’ and ’Stillness.Oceanic’ were exhibited earlier this year at The Broad.

Experiencing [S]editions, the Art Cloud

On [S]editions, you can buy “digital limited edition art by the world’s leading contemporary artists” at affordable prices, within a range that goes from 6 to 600 €. So, now everybody can be an art collector.

When you buy an artwork, what you get is a certificate of authenticity. And nothing else.

You can view your artwork on iPhones and iPads through [S]editions authorized apps, you can download jpgs on your computer but, oh-oh, you can’t download videos. Which is exactly what you bought, by the way. The actual work stays on [S]editions servers. So, what do you actually own? A conceptual artist would say, a certificate.

But you are lucky enough to have a Flash Video Downloader. So, you click on it and you start downloading the artworks you bought.

And here they are. Beautiful, hi-res, 1920x1080 mp4 files. Now, you have all the owner’s privileges: you can lend your artwork for an exhibition; you can donate it to a museum; you can watch at it on different platforms; you can share it; and you can delete it.

And still, you are not sure. Is this exactly what I bought? Is this my original? You know what? You will never know it. Don’t care about it: enjoy your art, with or without a certificate.

Post Scriptum

These two lines are not against [S]editions. I bought two artworks and I’ll probably buy more, if they stop selling Photoshopped pics or video animations of actual artworks as works of art. These two lines are for another concept of digital ownership. If I buy a book, I can lend it. If I buy an e-book, I can’t. There’s something wrong in it.

I wish that I could give you what you, deserve / ‘Cause nothing could ever, ever replace you / Nothing can make me feel like you do. / We won’t find a love that’s so true. / There’s nothing like us, there’s nothing like you and me / Together through the storm. / You know I’m used to making your day. /  We were so perfect / Together.

“They charged Jesus with sedition. Didn’t they do that? They said he was against Caesar. They said he was discriminating because he told his disciples, "Go not the way of the gentiles, but rather go to the lost sheep.” He discriminated. Don’t go near the Gentiles, go to the lost sheep. Go to the oppressed. Go to the exploited. Go to the downtrodden. Go to the people who don’t know who they are, who are lost from the knowledge of themselves and who are strangers in a land that is not theirs. Go to these people. Go to the slaves. Go to the second-class citizens. Go to the ones who are suffering the brunt of Caesar’s brutality. And if Jesus were here in America today, he wouldn’t be going to the white man. The white man is the oppressor. He would be going to the oppressed. He would be going to the humble. He would be going to the lowly. He would be going to the rejected and the despised. He would be going to the so-called American negro.“
