Some of the posts on my dash have reminded me of certain facts. Which of course set of the little cogs within my brain turning with new crack possibilities…
It is the middle of the Clone Wars, and Asajj Ventress has sworn vengeance upon Count Dooku for the way he betrayed her. Her attempt to use Savage Oppress to obtain her revenge has failed, and the assault on Dathomir has taken a horrendous toll on her Nightsister brethren. And yet, Mother Talzin has shown that Dooku’s defences are not impenetrable. As she kneels amid the barren ruins of her ancestral village, Asajj calls upon the ghostly matron for advice.
The spectre reveals that the method she used is not available to Ventress - not only is she not trained in the deeper Nightsister mysteries but she does not have access to a convenient lock of Dooku’s hair, and have I mentioned how desperately I want the story about that? I mean, how the hell did Talzin manage to get it - what self respecting Sith doesn’t take care not to leave pieces of themselves where practitioners of Dark Magics can get them?
Anyway, that’s obviously not an option here, but Ventress needs to find a way to get past Dooku’s not inconsiderable defences. Mother Talzin points out that while she may not be able to target him directly, even a mighty Sith Lord cannot rid himself of all his connections. It is a longshot, but it is possible that a spell targeted at another might still be able to affect Dooku tangentially. All they need is a piece of something tightly linked to one who Dooku is still connected to…
The Jedi Temple has upped security since the incident with the Holocron Vault - patrols around the archives in particular have been increased, and the computer systems themselves not carry some rather impressive surprises for those attempting to infiltrate them. Security measures around the Jedi’s personal quarters however is not tight - oh the creche is well protected, but most of the Jedi are spending greater and greater periods on deployment and there is little need to guard empty quarters.
Which is why no one can work out exactly what Ventress was after - her infiltrating the Temple was not completely unexpected, even if she does seem to be running freelance these days, but she didn’t seem to leave with anything of value! No military systems were breached, the archives are intact, and while some initiates report seeing a strange “Knight” wandering the halls there were no attempts at kidnapping (in fact if anything Ventress appeared to be taken aback by the appearance of children in the halls - they will never know the parade of might-have-beens that filled her mind in that moment). Ventress is just glad no-one caught her raiding certain people’s freshers. It was traumatic enough as it was without having to explain why she was raiding hairbrushes.
So having acquired the necessary materials Ventress returns to Dathomir and within a one of its many sacred caverns begins the ritual, using all her skills to call upon the Darkness to bring “Yoda’s last Padawan” (or “Most powerful” depending on whatever canon has decided regarding certain apprenticeships) to her for the purposes of vengeance.
She’s not sure what exactly she’s expecting (the tie between Dooku and his former Master may not be strong enough to do anything, and who knows exactly how the spell will achieve it ) but it’s certainly not the flash of light followed by the sudden appearance of a young, blonde, human male who is most definitely NOT Count Dooku.

BREAKING: Soldier injured in terrorist attack at Le Louvre, France
Little over an hour ago (9am GMT) soldiers managed to gun down a man who attempted to attack them with a machete near Le Louvre, the famous art museum in Paris. It’s said the attacker tried to enter Le Louvre itself.
The head of the Paris police states that the man shouted “Allahu akhbar” and managed to injure a soldier. The attacker was critically injured after the armed patrol opened fire.
The nearby area has been evacuated as the French ministry said a “serious public security incident” is underway.
A backpack worn by the attacker is being investigated by explosives experts.
The attack comes after several terrorist plots have been prevented in several European countries over the last few weeks.
AN: (I’ve changed the name of this fic to reflect the story), hope you all enjoy!
Death wasn’t something that you often thought about, despite your home and life being built on the bones of small time crooks and people that couldn’t pay on time. Yet, here you were in your own home confronted with death. This was the second time in the same week that you were plagued with the thought your existence could be swiped out at any moment.
“Where are the jewels?” The skinny man in the masked balaclava asked you, pointing his revolver in your face shakily.
You knew what jewels he was talking about. The family jewels, the ones that were passed down since the business had begun in 1809. The legend was they once belonged to Queen Victoria before ending up on a journey across Asia and into the hands of your family.
They were markers of status. They told the rest of the world just how royal you were in the mafia world.
You couldn’t just give them up.
“Third room from the right on the third floor.” You said, lying. It would bide you time to do something like call for help, but then you saw the balaclava man had other masked men with him. There were four of them in total. He’d definitely leave one to watch over you, or kill you before that.
Two perfect shots came from behind the library doors, knocking out two of the mafia men.
The masked balaclava man didn’t hesitate to spin you around, locking your arms in the process behind your back as he held a gun up to your head.
Jungkook stepped into the library, taking careful strides to the middle of the room with his gun pointing at the balaklava man.
“Step away from her.” Jungkook warned in a low voice. The gun was right next to your temple, and you started to falter under the proximity. It was one trigger away from blowing your brains out. You shut your eyes in anticipation, this seemed like the end for you.
“Jungkook, leave.” You said, knowing the situation would only get worse. If Jungkook shot, then balaclava man would shoot you before dying. There was no way he could Jungkook could win this one.
“Listen, you rascals, I want to know where the jewels are. Tell. me. where. they. are. and I just might let little miss pretty over here live another day.”
Jungkook most certainly didn’t know where the jewels would be, did he?
“Fourth floor, third room in the master bedroom.” He said simply. Your eyes grew to the size of saucers. Jungkook was probably briefed on it before he started working for your family, but you knew the jewels were one of the most important things your family valued. Leading the masked man to them would probably get Jungkook killed later on.
With an aggressive shake, you arms were let go. Without thinking, you ran towards Jungkook who who placed you behind him.
The masked man had his gun still pointed in your direction, and you hid your face in Jungkook’s neck out of fear. You were moments away from death a minute ago and just needed some human comfort.
Yeah, human comfort. You would do that to anyone, even if it wasn’t Jungkook.
“Do you trust me?” Jungkook whispered low into your ear, quiet enough the masked man didn’t hear.
Well, that little floppy-haired apple didn’t fall far from the tree. You’re lucky you’re cute. You got me, alright, little vault? Just… keep it to yourself. Geez, kid, you’re just like your mom. Don’t tell her you know. She’ll kill me. And don’t tell her I called her a tree.
About your mom… we found her, buddy. She’s going to be just fine.
The Secret Service has been taking the lead on her security since… the incident. That’s why we couldn’t find her. She’s safe, I promise and so are you.
She has to get a little stronger and then she’ll be moved to a normal hospital and the agents from her own department will take over. The guys you know and that you’re used to.
Hang in there. The Secret Service agents are humorless, but they’re really good at their jobs and your welfare is very important to them.
As soon as she’s allowed to, Susan’s going to come hang out with you and be your bodyguard for a little while. I think your mom would like to know someone she knows is with you.
They still won’t let me see her. I’m too high profile and everyone’s so afraid it will compromise my identity. I don’t get it. I have a disguise. Anyway, it’ll be awhile before I’ll get a chance to see her so tell her ‘hi’ for me and I’ll come as soon as I can. Make sure she rests. I mean it. I have ways of bypassing even the Secret Service to keep her in that bed. And no newspapers until two doctors say it’s okay… no, three. Mission Impossible, kiddo. I believe in you.
I’m told she’s still pretty banged up, Carter. She’s got a long road ahead, but she’s strong and she’ll pull through.
After the violent exclamation, the Hokage’s office became as
silent as a grave. The slender figure who spat out the word so
categorically pinched her brow.
“I am not going to bow down to the Uchiha clan’s every whim. I
am the Hokage and my word is final. Uchiha Kazuto is going on the
probation. Six months of community service will teach him humility.”
The young chunin in question caused a diplomatic incident with the
visiting son of the Sea Country’s feudal lord. The Hokage and her
advisers managed to contain the damage from the incident and secured
the continued income of missions from the Sea, but Kazuto still cost
Konoha a blow to their reputation as gracious hosts. The punishment
was necessary for both retaining the discipline in the ranks and for
the appearance’s sake.
“The Uchiha won’t be pleased,” Neji cautioned. The clan’s
proposition was to keep the boy under house arrest, which was way too
lenient. He’d have probably spent the time in the Uchiha private
“I know,” the Hokage replied with a tired sigh.
“What a drag,” Shikamaru said. “You’re the one who’s going
to tell this to the Uchiha.”
“Don’t worry about it. I can deal with him.” The Hokage turned
to look out of the window pensively. The russet glow of the sunset
bathed her profile, softening the edges. “I want to be alone now.”
“Will you really be okay, Sakura?” Tenten asked. “Is he
“I’ll be fine. You can go.” Sakura gave them a reassuring
smile and waved them off.

breath was laboured. Panic rushes through his whole body as it
struggled to get off those chains that had bound him to the wall. His
eyes were filled with fear, his wrists already hurting against the
force he had put on them from trying to release himself yet…
Nothing helped. Amajiki tried to call out to them but instead of his
love’s name falling off his lips, a choking noise escaped his throat
– the enemy landed another hit, aiming right at his guts. God, the
pain was unbearable but he wouldnt falter, he couldnt. He wasnt
The anxious male’s eyes searched for his
partner’s figure again while not giving a damn about how his life was
in danger because all that mattered was their wellbeing, that they
were fine and safe. Just please let them be safe - But all of
those thoughts washed away when he caught them laying on the ground,
writhering and whimpering, a villain hovering above their body… It
was the worst outcome that he could’ve ever expected. He saw them
plea silently, those usually dazzling eyes filled with horror, their
body shifting in attempt to get away from the criminal but the man
had them definitely cornered. Amajiki felt his eyes sting, as tears
were already gathering in the corner when he had to witness how the
villain raised his deadly sharp blade…
To hear them crying out.
A cold shiver ran down his spine as his body froze, undescribable
feelings were falling all over him. It felt like he couldnt breathe - ‘No, no, no-’, his mind
repeated the denying words over and over again. The ravenhead
started to scream all of a sudden, his skin started to bleed under
the cool metal cutting into his wrists as he was poorly attempting to
pry himself off them. Worthless, weak, useless. All those negative
terms ran through his head as he started to cry. He couldnt do
anything while his signifant other was incrediously suffering right
in front of his eyes – there was so much red… So much blood. All
he wished for was someone… something. Anything to appear or
happen to stop this awful torture. „Please… stop…“, the
male cried, closing his lids. He must’ve looked miserable.
That’s when finally a
pro hero appeared and with them a bunch of sidekicks. At the end
of the horrifying day, safety was secured.
• This incident is carved
deeply into his heart and at first when they are being hospitalized,
the male couldnt be in peace with himself. Amajiki would feel
responsible and guilty at the same time, unable to deal with all
those flooding thoughts that he started to have since that day
• Nightmares. He’d have
to deal with them at night, waking up completely sticky and
disgusting while his breathing had become uneven, his heart beating
faster than usual while his chest feels like being on fire
• When he finally decides
to visit and face them he’s suspecting that they’ll break up, that
they’ll be mad at him. He’s deadly nervous and afraid but this will
have to happen at some point and he cant keep running away forever
• As soon as the couple’s eyes meet his lover starts to cry all
of a sudden which startles him to no end and as soon as he is
standing beside their bed, trying to apologize for everything, they
pull the boy into their arms, embracing him tightly. Their hands
would be gripping his shirt, body tremoring heavily
• And oh
boi, Amajiki would start to cry as well… (Admin is not crying rn,
nope) When both had calmed down, they’d talk to each other
properly and pouring out whatever was weighing on their chest
because that’s the best thing that they could do to cope with that
• He’s thankful and
relieved that they still want to stay by his side yet he feels
insecure about their words: This was not his fault and, he shouldnt
put the blame onto himself. Tho get’s flustered when they give him a
sweet kiss. Both will never forget this but they’ll surely get over
it as long as they’re together
Again, I’m so sorry, this is quite embarrassing uwu
Magnus knew this conversation was bound to happen sooner or later. Ever since his time spent in Valentine’s body and being tortured by the Inquisitor herself, Magnus didn’t feel like himself. All the memories he was trying to bury deep inside of him for decades or even centuries were back. And everything hurt like the day it happened. He knew you could never truly forget about the trauma, but for a long time he was trying to achieve it anyway. But now everything got uncovered again and it was so hard to breathe. So hard to function and pretend like everything was okay.
He couldn’t sleep. As soon as he closed his eyes, he saw the same scene over and over again. He was 8. It was evening and he’s just came home after spending most of the day at his friend’s house, playing with him. The house was quiet which was unusual, his mother often sang in the kitchen while preparing food. He went to her bedroom and noticed that she was already lying in bed. He uncovered the sheets and there was so much blood everywhere. The keris was still in her body. Her eyes were closed.
Magnus would wake up screaming “Mama!” every single time.
He didn’t want Alec to know about this, he didn’t want to know this ugly side of him. So when Alec stayed the night, Magnus wouldn’t sleep. He would sit in his living room and his thoughts would go back to that night. He would often feel tears running down his cheek.
Russian Hackers and Government Officers Indicted in Connection With Yahoo Security Incidents
By Chris Madsen, Assistant General Counsel, Head of Global Law Enforcement, Security & Safety
Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment of four defendants, two Russian intelligence officers and two state-sponsored hackers, for the theft of Yahoo user data in late 2014, as well as cookie forging to obtain access to user accounts on our network in 2015 and 2016. The indictment unequivocally shows the attacks on Yahoo were state-sponsored. We are deeply grateful to the FBI for investigating these crimes and the DOJ for bringing charges against those responsible.
This morning’s announcement is consistent with our prior disclosures. On September 22, 2016, we disclosed our belief that a state-sponsored actor had stolen a copy of certain user account information for approximately 500 million user accounts in late 2014. On December 14, 2016, we provided details on the forging of cookies to gain access to certain user accounts without a password and we linked some of that activity to the same state-sponsored actor.
We appreciate the FBI’s diligent investigative work and the DOJ’s decisive action to bring to justice to those responsible for the crimes against Yahoo and its users. We’re committed to keeping our users and our platforms secure and will continue to engage with law enforcement to combat cybercrime.

Re: our convo about Five's past from last night: I kinda want someone from Mullins showing up at Abel now. Someone eager to see the famous Runner 5, someone who gets utterly baffled and incredulous when they bring them the weird girl from the fort that no one liked or cared about. He thinks they're playing a joke on him, snarks that if she was that impressive they wouldn’t have let Abel keep her in the first place. And then pregnant Maxine hits him with a chair.
…oops, my hand slipped and I wrote a thing. Which was probably your intention all along, you horrible enabler. :P (Couldn’t arrange the chair hitting though. I tried, but it turns out there’s a short list of people Maxine would 100% flatten with a chair, and this dude’s not on it. …Yet.)

A few days ago, my green-cheeked conure (Milo) was attacked and killed by one of my pet rats. It’s the worst thing that has ever happened to me and it’s incredibly painful to talk about, but I want to use this experience to warn others and hopefully save some animals from harm or even death.
First off, pets of different species should almost never be allowed to interact with each other if they are not being supervised. (There are obviously some exceptions, but it is always best to play it safe.) I thought Milo and the rats would be fine because I was supervising them, I know all of their personalities, and I have years of experience with animal care and animal behavior assessment.
I was right there when it happened. I was watching them so closely and I was prepared to grab any of them if anything happened. In fact, I didn’t even let them get within a foot of each other unless I was holding onto them securely.
When the incident happened, I had the rats on my bed and Milo was on top of his cage (which is right next to my bed). The rats weren’t even near him - they were on pretty much the complete opposite side of my bed. Milo jumped onto my bed and one of the rats just darted at him unexpectedly. She had already jumped on him and knocked both of them off the bed before I even had time to react.
I never would have imagined this happening. If anything, I was more worried about Milo hurting one of the rats than the other way around. By the time I pulled the rat off of him, he was already taking his last breaths.
I wanted to share this story because I want people to learn from this horrific accident.
No matter how closely you are watching your pets and no matter how well you think you know them, their personalities, and their behavior, it is always safest to just not let pets of different species interact with one another (ESPECIALLY if they come from different orders within the animal kingdom or if there is a major size difference).
I am absolutely shocked and devastated. I want at least one good thing to come from this, even if it is just preventing an animal from getting bit by another animal. Accidents happen and animals are unpredictable. Please learn from my mistake and keep your pets safe. Thank you.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - A pickup truck driver killed eight people and
injured more than a dozen others when he drove down a New York City bike
path on Tuesday afternoon in what authorities said was a terrorist
The 29-year-old driver was shot by police in the
abdomen and taken into custody after he crashed the truck into a school
bus and fled his vehicle, New York City Police Commissioner James
O‘Neill told a news conference.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security called the incident an “apparent act of terrorism.”

statement made by the suspect when he exited his truck and the general
circumstances of the assault led investigators to label the incident a

The attack was reminiscent of several similar attacks carried out in Europe last year.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said the suspect appeared to have acted alone.

the staff smuggles contraband like lighters into arkham around known serial arsonists on the regular and then wonders why there are so many security incidents as if it's a complete mystery to them! they are bad at their jobs
Actually, I suspect they smuggle contraband in, for the purpose of letting patients trade with them. I can’t believe I’m admitting to this, but I’ve paid several guards for cigarettes and other drugs in the past.
They’re constantly firing staff members for being a part of shit like this.
Some of the things I’ve noticed in myself and others, when going to the doctor for any reason, is that we tend to clam up, assume that whatever’s happening to us is normal even if it’s painful, and be afraid to set boundaries, or ask for help, or ask questions.
What I’ve noticed in medical professionals is that they frequently treat patients like they’re medical mannequins. Go through the steps you’re supposed to go through, don’t engage with them as a person, don’t check in with them to see if they’re okay, don’t explain what you’re doing unless they push you, just do the thing and then leave in a perfunctory manner.
Here are some things that I have either found helpful, or am damn well going to do next time because I wish I’d thought of them before it became obvious I needed them. Please add your own!
1. Ask them up front to explain everything they’re doing before they do it, so that you know what to expect.
2. Stop them, if they seem like they’re about to do something you don’t know about, and ask them what they’re doing.
3. Do not worry about being perceived as rude. Or do worry about it, I don’t care, but for once put your own safety before what other people might think of you. That’s a note to myself.
4. Tell them when it hurts. In fact, make a HUGE deal when it hurts. Because if you’re anything like me, your idea of making a HUGE deal when it hurts comes out as “Ow. Ow! Hey, that hurts.” And you think beforehand that you’re going to be making a huge deal, but in fact you maybe don’t even have that in you.
5. Even if you think they can’t change what they’re doing and it’s going to hurt anyway, tell them. Because even if that’s true, you don’t have to feel like you just sat there and suffered in silence. You can advocate against your own suffering. And it might be really useful information to them. (At the very least, they might say “Sorry.”)
6. Refuse to do things that make you uncomfortable. Because fuck them. And I do mean either physically uncomfortable, or emotionally uncomfortable. You don’t have to flat-out refuse to do everything single thing! But make that be your first thought. Should I refuse to do this, and see if they have any other options? Should I tell them I am really extremely uncomfortable with doing this, and find out what they might suggest?
Because often there are other options and they don’t even fucking think of telling you. Or they’re doing it wrong and they should have to stop and think about what they’re doing. I’m not just talking about when they tell you to come in for a scan or an exam of some kind. I’m talking about when they’re in the middle of doing one, and they are forcing you to stay in a position that hurts, and you tell them it hurts and they just brush it off. Next time I see that happening, or it happens to me, I will damn well cause a security incident.
ok, that’s all I’ve got so far, who wants to pile on? @anniegst ?
A simple trip to the mall quickly gets out of hand for Steven and the Gems. Peridot becomes “stuck” on an escalator, Garnet is hypnotized by a magic eye picture at a calendar kiosk, Amethyst butts heads with the head of mall security after an incident involving chocolate covered pretzels and a sock full of quarters, Lapis won’t leave the arcade until she wins enough tickets playing skee ball for a Rubik’s Cube keychain and Pearl can’t seem to find a decent pair of flats at the shoe store. Can Steven make up his mind on what color of gift wrapping for Connie’s birthday present in time to rescue the Gems?
