second problem: how to remove the background without making it look weird

It was a week after their classes’ Ski Lodge trip where Lucas and Riley had finally became official. Everything was falling in place and was starting to feel normal again. No more angst or unspoken feelings. There was just one thing that was weighing on both of their minds and that was a kiss.

They had only ever kissed once, it was on the subway for their first date way back in 7th grade. It was short and sweet which unfortunately set the tone for their relationship that year. Super sweet but short lived.

They were older now and actually together and they couldn’t help but wonder when the next one would happen. They hardly ever had alone time together.
Lucas for sure thought it was going to happen on the Ski trip but her parents and Uncle were around and all of their classmates. Every time they thought they were alone someone would pop up and ruin the moment.

Riley hoped it would happen that day when he walked her home, but as he leaned in to kiss her goodbye, her Uncle Josh opened the door and interjected the kiss with his hand between their faces. It was starting to get a bit ridiculous. She knew they meant well but she was 15 now and this was her first boyfriend, they knew this would happen eventually.

At school it wasn’t any better. They both assumed that now that they were a couple their friends would give them some space but that wasn’t the case at all.

Can I ask for a tutorial on how you did your navigation page at the moment ? && I'm extremely sorry that this is on anon ( as you said not to ) :c but 'm super shy when it comes to asking for help >x<

nah awww it’s okay! i mainly said it, because it became difficult to answer messages, even more when they were a few hours old and i felt that i was doing them no longer for whoever asked (since i am not able to tag them) but more for whoever sees it on their dash. especially when certain problems were specific and the asker never came back. so i decided to write it down. yours is more general and that’s why i will answer it. however, any future questions should be answered off anon please, especially when problems occur. i can’t solve them three hours later, even worse if you could simply google some questions ( this is not about you nonnie ^^ )

but welp i will just give you a short introduction (hahaha yeah i will try. we both know it will get longer) ;

This things comes from the love I have for the universe in Rita’s fic, the wonderful A little push in the right Direction from the lovely @crossroadswrite.

The whole “the Hales are protectors of Beacon Hills. Everybody knows what they are, but are too polite to mention it. Also the Stilinski/Hale kids are too cute and they want to pinch their cheeks” vibe was the best and I kindly screamed about it in reviews.

So I decided to write a Kate trying to seduce Teenager!Derek in this world, only to face an entire city turning against her.

It was supposed to be a few words of fun, it turned into 5k writen in one night on a tiny phone and I just don’t know. I give up.

(Also @seanconneraille is a gift to mankind)

(also still a picture of a wolf, because it’s a theme now. I write there are wolves. I’m going with the flow)

Children’s Tales

( If you prefer to read on AO3 it’s here! )

Growing up, Kate’s favorite story was one polished by dozen generations of Argents. It always started the same, with her mother caressing her hair and kissing the middle of her forehead before whispering.

 Be careful, little girl.

Don’t go causing troubles in Beacon Hills, because the Hales live there, little girl.

Be careful of their fangs and claws, little girl.

They are of the oldest blood, little girl, wild things roaming the forest on four legs.

Be careful of wild magic, little girl, of a land alive and untamable by men.

Be careful, little girl, because their power comes from the bones of hundreds protectors and thousands beaten foes buried in the ground.

Keep away from Beacon Hills, little girl, or the Hales will destroy you.

And Kate, still a little girl, listened and dreamed of being the one turning legends to ashes.

I hope you don't mind getting a resubmitted "What if?". Anyway, what if tragedy strikes and everybody dies... again... and when Sailor Moon tries to bring them back to life they end up having to take the Hotaru way back. Everybody, reduced to infancy. How would Usagi approach their families about the situation? How would their families react? And what would she do about the orphaned Makoto and Mamoru?

I never mind. I hope you don’t mind that you waited eight months! More, I hope this is at least a little worth the wait.

You didn’t specify when we’re talking about here, which makes a bit of a difference. Is Usagi a teenager or an adult and for how long? How old then are her friends’ parents/guardians? Is Ami’s mother in her sixties now? Is Rei’s grandpa still alive? DETAILS MATTER IN THESE QUESTIONS

In the absence of said details, I guess I’ll go with this being in the range of the series, so Usagi being a teenager. The idea of her raising any of these kids is both adorable and weird, but mostly weird, particularly at that age. I would barely trust Usagi with responsibility for a goldfish, let alone five surprise infants (as your question phrases it as Inners and Mamoru).

So there’s one easy answer: IKUKO ADOPTS EVERYONE

It’s REALLY hard to argue against this actually, since Ikuko has canonically been shown to adopt whatever random child crosses her path. If we assume that Usagi would explain who they were, could Ikuko refuse? Could she look at tiny baby Makoto with her big green eyes and little clenched fists with no parents and no one to care for her and say “eh, whatevs”? I THINK NOT

But I jump ahead of myself. The orphans are actually kind of easy, because our options are so limited. (NOTHING SAD ABOUT THAT BTW) Let’s look first at Ami, Rei, and Minako.

I see Ami’s mother as being surprisingly receptive to raising Ami all over again. Though obviously there’s no EASY way to realize this is an actual thing you have to face. Usagi would tell her truth, about how Ami is Sailor Mercury and she was the smartest and the kindest and the best and she’s so sorry this happened, but Ami isn’t dead, and that’s SO WONDERFUL. In the “now”, I see Ami’s mother as being absorbed in and dedicated to her work, but I also see her as realizing that it’s removed her from Ami’s life. I think she’d like to fix this, but doesn’t know how, or figures it’s too late and so is resigned to things. Usagi showing up at her door with an armful of baby Ami will bring all those feelings back, along with the certainty that she’s been given a second chance. She has the money and success to easily support her scaling back at this point and, this time, making Ami her top priority. I think she’ll seize that chance.

Usagi won’t have much to explain to Grandpa. He’ll probably have to explain more to HER about how he already knows that she’s Sailor Moon and Rei was Sailor Mars. There’s no question that he’ll raise Rei all over again, and some part of him is thrilled to revisit those years. She always did make him feel young. But the problem is that he’s NOT young, and he’s not getting younger. I see this as a huge worry for Grandpa, though obviously not one he burdens on Usagi. Rei the first time had to face the loss of her mother so young, and he’s afraid she’ll go through that again, only this time without him around to care for her. Rei going to live with her father is out of the question (and I completely believe Grandpa would simply “forget” to mention that Rei is somehow six moths old again; that’ll be a fun discovery for Senator Hino) (if he ever actually makes it) (he probably wouldn’t). Grandpa’s going to need to make sure Rei has a loving home waiting for her, if she needs one.

I think that home is with the Tsukinos. I see Grandpa reaching out to Ikuko, making arrangements for her to take Rei in if anything were to happen to him. They’re the first of many regular visits they have over tea and cakes that Ikuko bought and pretends she made, while Usagi is playing peek-a-boo with Baby Rei in the background and laughing as Baby Rei glares and gets all grumpy when Usagi “disappears”. (She looks so much like her old self and it’s so bittersweet for Usagi, but still she does it again and again). In that vein, please join me in envisioning Usagi welcoming in and hugging so hard an angry and grieving four-year old Rei, who doesn’t remember she’s going through this all over again, but Usagi, does and she can’t stop crying. IT’S SO SAD BUT I WANTS IT PRECIOUS

I do not want to send Minako to her parents. I DESPERATELY DON’T. It’s pretty deep into headcanon territory here, but I see so much friction and general awfulness between Minako and her mother. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s abusive exactly, though it is chillingly easily to see Minako’s mother slapping her when she mouths off too much, which we all know Minako would CONSTANTLY. I think she’s more controlling and domineering than anything. What alternatives does Usagi have, though? It’s not like Ikuko would refuse to adopt Minako too, just that there’s no real justification for keeping Minako away from her parents, unless they straight up said “We don’t want her, goodbye”, and I don’t see that.

When Usagi tells them – and again, I don’t see how she couldn’t – I see a lot of anger from Minako’s mother, and probably more than a bit of denial. Maybe Artemis comes in at this point and backs up Usagi’s story. It’s kind of hard to argue when your cat starts talking to you. So Minako goes to her parents, but my biggest problem with it is that unlike Ami, I don’t think Minako’s mother would take this as an opportunity to reconnect with her daughter so much as the chance to squeeze out all the parts about Minako that she didn’t like. Minako’s going to start being punished for things she technically hasn’t done yet, and it all just gets worse and worse as she gets older. I’m not sure of the best answer here.

Minako has Artemis at least, as I can’t see any way in hell he’s leaving her side like this. There’s also her father, and maybe this will give him the impetus to step in on her behalf, rather than just burying his head. Artemis can help in that regard as well, both being an encouraging/pushing voice, and perhaps even funnelling some of that sweet Sailor V merchandising money he’s been sitting on into the household so Minako’s father won’t have to work so hard and can be a more active and mediating figure. And there’s Usagi, too, who we all know will be a solid and consistent presence in the girls’ lives as they grow up again (she’s having to wait so long for them!) Usagi can be cunning sometimes, and if she thinks (or Artemis tells her) that things aren’t great for Minako, I have no problem seeing her persuade/manipulate Minako’s mum into regular playdates and visitation with Ikuko, Ami’s mum, and Rei’s Grandpa. I see Mrs. Aino as being pretty well swayed by public perception, so a lot of eyes on her could give her impetus for restraint. IT MAY BE A GROUP EFFORT BUT WE WILL SAVE BABY MINAKO

We’re back now to Mako and Mamoru. Mako, I think Ikuko will just straight up adopt, and as we envisioned Usagi taking in angry grieving baby Rei, please now also imagine her with tiny baby Mako. Messy feedings and messier changings and Usagi there for every second. Slightly less tiny toddler Mako, already running in front of everything to protect her big sister. MAKO WITH A WARM HOME AND A STABLE FAMILY WHO LOVE HER ARE YOU IMAGINING WELL ARE YOU

What about Mamoru though? There’s Ikuko again, of course, but Mamoru is a fucked up case. He and Usagi were a thing, and now he’s less than a year old, and the idea of raising someone from infancy that you’re in love with is making my brain screech to a halt. I’M LOOKING AT YOU, TWILIGHT. As it is, I don’t know that the dynamic could recover, I think those feelings would shift too dramatically. It’s still love, but it’s a different kind of love now. Everything’s already so hard and confusing for Usagi, and I think this would be too much to add.

What I would dearly love to see is Grandpa adopt Mamoru too. I already have huge affection for Rei and Mamoru’s sibling relationship, and this would give it so much more room to grow. I think Grandpa would have a blast with both of them too, and I think Mamoru would do really well in the shrine life, having tasks and goals and responsibilities. Admit it, Baby Rei and Baby Mamoru with Grandpa is adorbs.

But then we come on the same problem we had with Grandpa and Rei: if he takes Mamoru in, he’ll want to make sure he’s provided for. Working it out where Ikuko takes Mamoru in too pretty much defeats my purpose of not having Mamoru in the Tsukino household in the first place. It’s a strong choice, and there’s a lot about it I love, but I’m not sure it’s best.

Instead then, I think Usagi and Ikuko would convince Ami’s mother to adopt Mamoru too. She might actually find it easier with two, since it would change things up enough to keep her from easily falling into her previous bad habits, and Ami and Mamoru also have a wonderful relationship that tells me they’d do well together too.

One thing of which we can be certain: USAGI’S GOT A LOT OF BABYSITTING IN HER FUTURE

A rant about the Twilight Sparkle Micro Comic

Now I’m usually not one to toot my horn and I’m definitely the first to say I’m no Andy Price, but I can tell that I put a lot more effort and attention into my drawings than Thomas Zahler did (luckily it doesn’t look like he’ll be working on any pony comics any time soon).
