I’ve been thinking about just how great of a series Xenosaga was, still no doubt my favorite games, I can’t even choose between them…. I loved that sort of depth to its story, and how I was legitimately invested in all the characters, and I loved being confused and just accepting I wouldn’t know until later, and then when I replayed it, realizing all the little hints and foreshadowing present, even from episode I (Seeing mention of T-elos in 1 is pretty well known, but even like… I swear Wilhelm’s first scene has a vague hint at a certain huge twist late episode III… And also “Joachim’s assistant” was brought up in Ziggy’s first scene, and that’s not explained until III). The story was so well thought out, and even though it didn’t get the full planned 6 parts it deserved, I think they did well with what they had, the ending was satisfying to me. And even the music was incredible, I mean I bought the games because I heard Yuki Kajiura did the music for the cutscenes in II and for all of III (still not over this), and then I read about the London Philharmonic Orchestra performing for I and the music was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, whoa! And episode I’s combat system is still my favorite system, it’s kinda like a typical turned based RPG, but different enough that it stood out, I loved boosting and ether trees and skills taken from items, and button combos for different attacks, and setting them to fast ahhh, good stuff… Xenosaga is just so good all around!!!
Imagine your favorite character attempting to take care of you when you get sick, but they’re so bad at it that your second favorite character has to stop them because they might make you even more sick.
