Seattle Can Town!! Spring 2013 :D I had such an amazing time running this event, thank you so much Ema for being a lovely help, and a special thanks to Ema’s mom, Penny, who brought us so many hand warmies on such a cold/wet day, and drove all of the cans to the food bank for us!!

Thank you as well to everyone who showed up and brought cans, I am super proud of the turnout and I know we have a special group here, you’re all special, Wastucks <3

I’ll miss you all so dearly when I move!! ; ^ ;

LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO

I REPEAT, LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO

Location Time and Date are set, I’ll give exact whereabouts on where in Gasworks Park to go within the next two weeks.

WHO: ANYONE, seriously anyone. You can come dressed up like the Doctor if you really want to, cosplay not required but acceptable. (NO. GREY. PLEASE.)

WHEN: APRIL 6TH

WHERE: GAS WORKS PARK

WHAT: SUPER FUN CAN TOWN BRING CANS AND FRIENDS WITH CANS.

WHY: SUPPORT LOCAL FOOD BANK TRYING TO REGAIN ITS FOOTING; Scared Heart Food Bank in Downtown Seattle (down the street from KeyArena)

**If for some reason the Food Bank mentioned above does not accept donations I will hold a vote on WaStuck’s FB page as to where the donation should go instead.

ALSO; If you’d like to bring Cat or Dog food, litter, pet toys or anything of the sort, I will have a separate donation set up for the Seattle Humane Society.

FUN NOTE. I will be hosting a raffle during cantown. Show up and you get a ticket, bring extra donations and I’ll give you an extra ticket!!

I’m planning on reserving a certain location in the park if at all possible (I know it’s a little short notice for the park officials) but if that’s the case I’ll be paying for that reservation and any raffle prizes from my own money none to worry!! (I’ll be making fun prizes during my spring break, namely scalemates and maybe mutie plushies??)

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO DONATE THEIR EFFORTS TO MAKE RAFFLE PRIZES AS WELL, PLEASE CONTACT ME AT southseattlecantown@gmail.com I GREATLY APPRECIATE THE HELP AS WELL. (Ie if you make scarves and you want to make a couple of scarves to give away that would be great too! or if you have extra cosplay pieces you no longer want, etc, totally voluntary guys!)

If you’d like to bring a monetary donation for the food bank as well as cans they would be much appreciated!! I’ll give totals and such during the event.

NOW GO MY FRIENDS, COLLECT THOSE CANS, AND NOT ONLY WILL YOU WALK AWAY WITH SELF-SATISFACTION FOR BEING ABLE TO HELP A GROUP OF PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY, BUT YOU MAY EVEN WALK AWAY WITH FABULOUS PRIZES?!

TELL YOUR FRIENDS, COLLECT CANS, LEAVE WITH FUN STUFF AND HAPPY MEMORIES??

EDIT: MY DEAR EMA HAS INFORMED ME THAT THE FOOD BANK ALSO ACCEPT BATHROOM SUPPLIES AND TOILETRIES – If you have any extra unused please consider!

Hello friends, Alison/Ilya here! This will be the final big post before Can Town this weekend so please reblog and help Ema and I spread the word!

Who? Any friends in the Seattle area are welcome to attend! This is a charityintended event, and even if the theme is based off homestuck, you don’t have to be a homestuck to attend!

What? Bring canned foods and slightly used/new hygiene products (like shampoos) as well as pet food and toys, to donate to Ballard food bank, and Seattle Humane Society.

When and Where? Gas Works Park, on Saturday, April 6th, at 1 pm (we hope to be cleaned up and dispersed by 5ish)

Why? Create a large donation for a local food bank, as well as the Humane Society.

Other Info:

Ema and Alison will be hosting a raffle during the event for fun homestuck related gear, including but not limited to, Mutini plushies, a troll makeup kit, and possibly even gift cards to fill your cosplay needs!

You will get one raffle ticket for checking in at the event, and another for bringing a donation of at least 15 items or $20. If you are a friend attending for the charity only and are not interested in the homestuck raffle, please feel free to say so! If you’d like to donate your crafty talents and bring a homestuck related item for the raffle please email southseattlecantown@gmail.com and let us know ahead of time!

Every person when you arrive, please see Alison, I will have a clip board, and most likely a name tag, and we’ll have a sign set up in the park with “Seattle Can Town” to locate the event easily. When you check in I will only ask your name and how many items/dollars you brought to donate. Please specify any items/dollars to go to the Humane Society then.

Questions:

Is this a cosplay event?

Cosplay is totally welcome but not required! Your hosts will more than likely be cosplaying. (You don’t have to be a homestuck cosplay either, in fact, Alison will be arriving in her Fire Emblem cosplay again)

The only thing we ask, is if you are cosplaying as a character that has non-human colored skin (such as trolls, cherubs, Ms. Paint) please save your body paint for another event! Face details (such as cherub cheek swirls) will be totally acceptable, but if your entire face or any of your limbs are covered we will be asking you to remove it, sorry!

Can I bring chalk?

Chalk is definitely great to bring, Alison will be bringing some also, how else would we make our can town’s roads? ;) Just be prepared to help us wash it off when the event is over. If ten people washed we’d be done in minutes!

How long will you be giving raffle tickets out for?

We’ll be giving out the tickets between 1 pm and 3:30 pm. If you arrive afterwards still check in with Alison please so we’re able to get an accurate donation count on site.

Any other questions ask the blog seattlecantown directly, or email at southseattlecantown@gmail.com thank you and we’ll see you Saturday!!
