It is actually kind of cool to realize that you possess
specialty knowledge that may be of use to others. Stuff that you didn’t really
KNOW you knew, until, of course, you are reading along in a fic and something the author
describes (or the character says) brings your brain to a screeching halt. “That’s
not right – it can’t possibly happen that way…” And then you go and do actual
research to back up your gut knowledge. This little FAQ is the result of one
My dad fixed antique and classic cars for a living from 1964
– 1978, owning his own showroom for 3 years near the end of that time. Born in 1966, I grew up playing in old
cars, hiding in floorboards and exploring them to my heart’s content. Our
family car for several years was a 1966 Thunderbird, but when dad went to car
shows, we rode in whatever he wanted to show off. I’ve been in rumble seats,
hard top convertibles, cars with windshields that laid down flat, and cars with
no roof, doors, or walls of any kind. My 1st car was a fully
restored 1966 mustang. Without really realizing it, I soaked up a LOT of inherent
understandings about older cars. The information below is based in that knowledge,
backed up with some internet research.
The following is true about Baby (the character in SPN, not necessarily
the actual cars that play her):
1) Compared to most modern sedans, Baby is BIG. Like
REALLY BIG. She is 17 and ¾ feet long (5.4 meters) and 7 feet 8 inches wide (2.03
meters). Allowing for door thickness on either side and the gaps between doors
and bench seat, I’m betting the front seat is a little over 5 feet wide. Given
basic geometry and human skeletal limitations, this means it is not possible
for the passenger to have their head resting against the passenger door/window
AND place their hand on the driver’s thigh. If the passenger is in this
position, the driver can, at best, entwine
fingers with the passenger’s outstretched hand. That’s IT (even with Sam’s
monkey arms). Sitting up straight, yes. Slumped over, no. On the plus side, this is why the guys can, in fact, get some
sleep in her (and have fun in the back seat).
2) Despite how big Baby is, she is kinda short. Baby is only 54 inches
high (4’6” or 138 cm). INSIDE the car, she is slightly less than 4 feet tall
total. This means that the following actions WILL make you bump your head (or
butt or hands or feet) on the ceiling unless you are very very slow and careful:
climbing over the back seat, straddling someone’s lap, taking off your pants or
t-shirt (unless nearly lying down in the seat), and lunging across the front
bench seat to attack someone bodily. And you will look graceless doing it.
[Ahem, trust me on these, I KNOW.] Additional negative modifiers for Sam due to
Request: Okay, so this is Sirius x Reader where you like him and he likes you but neither of you know that and you ask the Marauders and Lily and Marlene if they wanna go to Hogsmeade or whatever the next day but they are all busy except Sirius. So you guys go and you get cold so he gives you his hoodie and you forget to return it or don’t want to because it smells like him and when you do at the end of the day he gets really happy because it smells like you and he wears it. Basically just fluff thanks.
Word Count: About 2,800.
Warning(s): Sexual tension, slightly suggestive comments, Sirius being hot as hell, kissing and stuff.
Note: In summary, this is a Sirius x Reader work about a cold night at Hogsmeade. Also, I deviated a bit from the request. Just a bit.
“We’re all still on for tonight, right?”
“Yeah.” Lily nodded, shrugging on a warm jacket as she headed out the door. “Marlene said to meet them in the common room before we go.”
As you made your way down the staircase next to Lily, you spotted James, Peter, and Marlene lounging on a sofa near the fireplace. Huddled together, the trio seemed to be in a heated conversation.
Nearing them, you heard their hushed whispers.
“Just make up some excuse to–”
Once Peter spotted you approaching, however, he nudged the other two into silence.
“Y/N! Lily!” exclaimed Marlene, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear nervously. “Just the ones we’ve been waiting for.”
With a quirked eyebrow, you took a seat on the arm of the couch. When they smiled innocently at you, you shook your head with a small laugh, looking around the room. You thought it might be best to ignore their impish antics. Around you, the Gryffindor common room was bustling with life and chatter. But amidst it all, you couldn’t spot Sirius.
Not that you were waiting for him, of course. He just happened to cross your mind as you looked around.
“He’s almost ready,” said James, a cheeky grin playing on his face.
“Shit, shit, shit, shit.” you sprint across the quad, pushing past students and jumping over bushes and benches like a track star doing hurdles. The chanting of the curse word only gets louder and faster once you looked down at your watch once again and saw that your class would start in less than a minute and you were a mile away from the science building.
You’re too distracted with staring at your watch that you don’t notice that you’re in the middle of the street until your face is touching the rough pavement and some random guy is sprawled beside you. At first, you think that it’s a boulder that had fallen from the mountains that surrounded your campus but when your vision focused on the black lump you realized it was a helmet.

Running the surveillance van is generally considered the boring job, but Matt doesn’t mind it. He can people watch to some extent, and he has Neil here to keep him company in watching the screens. It’s quiet and requires no acting, which makes it preferable to being in Andrew’s position right now.
On Matt’s screen, Andrew is leaning back in his seat, cards held in one hand and a low glass next to the other. He’s pretending to be a Russian magnate with a taste for the dirtier side of capitalism and also for killing people he doesn’t like. He looks relaxed, swimming with sharks. Probably because he’s the deadliest predator swimming in these waters.
They’re well into the game in there when Neil says something low in a language that definitely isn’t English, and then, “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
“What?” Matt asks. He’s instantly alarmed, because it takes a lot to make Neil lose his cool – the last time he said something similar, he was bleeding out from a hole in his gut.
Neil is already on his feet. “I’ve got to go in there.”
Neil is definitely not supposed to go in there. He’s only here in the van because of a concession on Wymack’s part, mostly because they’d all believed he’d find a way to get involved in the worst way possible if he weren’t included in an official role. Things have gotten a lot more complicated since he and Andrew started working together, including the frequency with which Neil gets bullet wounds.
“You can’t,” Matt says. “You’ve got your orders.”
“Do you really think I care?” Neil replies. “Andrew’s about to get his cover blown, and I can’t warn him from here.”
They couldn’t send Andrew in wearing an earpiece because everyone inside was searched for tech, so the only support they could provide was watching like this. “How do you know you won’t get him killed storming in there right now?”
“What would you do if it were Dan? Sit in your ass here in the van, or go?” Neil asks. Matt looks away from the screen to his face, taking in the brutal determination with which he looks back.
Matt and Dan are married, but he suspects mentioning that might not be worth the air he’d waste in the process. Whatever bond it is that Andrew and Neil have, it’s probably just as significant, as close and as unbreakable. He says instead, “Who did you see?”
I reached the cafe that Taehyung told me to meet him at, and I looked for him through the glass windows before wanting to go in. When his soft brown hair caught my eye, I noticed he wasn’t alone. He brought them along. Every member, including my brother. Someone I wanted to see the least right now. He brought them along even after he had promised me that he wouldn’t. I stood there looking at him as tears welled up in my eyes. I thought he cared about me, I thought I could trust his word, I feel so betrayed. Why was everyone against me?
I saw him look up at me and guilt washed over his face, I assume it was because I was stood here silently staring whilst tears fell down my face. Before he could even stand up from his seat, I took off - I ran until I got far enough away from the cafe, when I realised that I to Joonie and I’s favourite spot, a quiet park that rarely anyone ever went to. Joonie would usually write music here whilst I played with RapMon. I missed my brother, it’s been over a year since I got to come here with him. I took a seat on the bench and dropped my head, still crying and wanting the ground to swallow me whole because I didn’t want anyone to see me crying right now.
“Y/N” I heard a breathy voice call my name, it was a voice I knew all too well, did he run here? “Y/N” he called out to me again. “I’m sorry! I didn’t want to bring the guys with me, but I had to because I thought it would have been a good idea for you guys to make amends, and it would be better if you did it in person.” he continued to speak as he stood in front of me, but my head still hung low. I didn’t want to see him right now, I’m a crying mess, I don’t want him to see me like this. I felt him kneel in front of be, using his index and middle finger to lift my chin, making me automatically locking eyes with him. “Raindrop” I didn’t reply. “Why are you crying?” I let out a sarcastic laugh. “You promised me, but you lied. I trusted you and you betrayed me. I’m not crying because I saw them there today. I’m crying because of you Taehyung, because now I know I really can’t trust anybody. Not even you.“

As you crouch in front of the open passenger door, you look over the man in the bench seat. The man you see is far removed from the usual Dean Winchester you knew. He’s eerily quiet, sitting stiffly as he stares, unseeing, out of the windshield. The impala is parked in the bunker’s garage, but he just sits there, motionless, except for the occasional lethargic blink.
When Sam and Dean came back from their hunt, you expected them to be in one of two moods. The first and most preferred was the giddy excitement of a job well done, beers and pie all around. The second was less desired, the quiet thoughtfulness of a rough hunt.
CHRIS EVANS IS READY TO FIGHT His success as captain america has made Chris Evans one of Hollywood’s sure things, which means he can do whatever he wants with his free time. So why jump out of airplanes and get into it with David Duke?
Summary: Dean and reader pose as a couple to lure a vampire

As always, feedback is welcomed and appreciated.
We were in the middle of this hunt when Mary called. We couldn’t exactly walk out on this, so Sam had volunteered to help Mary while Dean and I stay behind to finish the job.
Which led to the situation that I’m now in. It’s not so much a situation as a ‘how the holy fuck did it end up like this’ type of scenario. At the moment, as I sit in the Impala at the edge of a secluded forest with Dean, I wish that Dean had gone and Sam had stayed.
Not that it wouldn’t have been weird with Sam. It would have been weird, just a different kind of weird. Normal weird, not weird-weird. Sure, Sam is six plus feet of handsome, but the relationship I have with him is more sibling-ish. I just don’t have those kinds of feelings for Sam - the kind where my heart races a bit faster when he’s near and my girly bits get all tingly. Dean, on the other hand, has that effect on me. My relationship with Dean is strictly platonic, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream. And boy, do I ever dream. The man is fucking sex on bow-legs. Can you blame a girl?
Here’s the thing about this particular vampire - he’s got a bit of a twisted fetish. His tastes run into the kinky. He likes to take his victims mid-coitus. Doing the nasty. Knocking boots. The horizontal Mambo. He’s a real piece of work. Like I said, he’s a kinky son of a bitch.
His modus operandi is to kill the male and snatch the female. We haven’t quite figured out what he does with the girls, but our best guess is he turns them. And keeps them for his own amusement, if you catch my drift.
But I’m getting off course here. Right now my gut is swirling with butterflies, my heart pounding loudly enough that this vampire can probably hear it a mile off. In just a moment, I’m going to be making out with Dean. Sure, it’s for the greater good, I volunteer as tribute, blah blah blah. I know it’s not real, it’s just for show, but I’m nervous as hell. I’m staring at his lips and he’s giving me that cocky as hell smirk, you know the one I’m talking about. His tongue darts out to lick his lower lip and I practically swoon. I’m like Scarlet fucking O’hara, I’ve got a case of the vapors. I might actually pass out.

gonna be okay?” Tony asked, handing Steve a cup of the shitty black sludge that
the cafeteria passed off as coffee. His sharp brown eyes scanning the windows
for any glimpse of you through the partially closed blinds. The muffled steady
beeping of the monitors was a comfort, at least.
so,” Steve sighed, finally lifting his gaze from his feet to mimic Tony’s

Letting out an irritated groan, [Y/N] rolled over in her bed. With her eyes still closed, she pawed for her phone that was obnoxiously buzzing on her night stand. Yanking the charger out, she opened an eye to see that it was a facetime from Tom is better than Harrison👍👌🙌. Groaning again, she slid to answer.
“You better have a damn good reason why you’re facetiming me at three in the morning, Holland.” Regrettably sitting up, she tried to adjust to the brightness of her phone.
Tom gave an apologetic grin, “I miss you, does that count as a good enough reason?”
[Y/N] tried to fight back the smile but gave in. Playfully rolling her eyes, she squinted at his surroundings. It appeared that he was at the beach and that it was sunnier than hell. She instantly became jealous. “I was going to let it be a good enough reason but now I see your ass is at the beach and I’m pissed again.”
“Oh but love,” Tom pouted. “I can’t help if I’m shooting near the beach.” Jutting out his bottom lip, he pulled his sunglasses up on top his head. “If it helps, it’s really not that much fun.”
“Mhm, yeah okay.” She said sarcastically.
“I’m being completely one hundred percent serious.” Tom flinched when a fan walked past and waved. It always made [Y/N] giggle when fans did that. It always caught him off guard and he’d have mini heart attacks because he’d never be aware of his surroundings when he facetimed with her. “I really do miss you.”
Shifting into a better position, she laid on her side with her head propped on her hand. “I miss you too.”
“Will you please come to me?” Tom asked.
[Y/N] took a deep inhale, she hated when Tom asked her that. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, it was because she hated planes. She became extremely anxious and would nearly have a panic attack every time. “You know I can’t.” She finally said.
Tom frowned, “Please, baby.”
“I promise it won’t be that bad. You just have to make it here and then you’ll have me on the way back. I just miss you so much.” Tom pleaded, he hated being away from her for too long. It made him go a little mental when he was apart from [Y/N].
“I’d be on a six hour flight, Tom.” [Y/N] whined. “And then getting used to the time zone switch.”
“Please,” Tom dragged out. “I promise I’ll make it worth your while.” He wiggled his brows and laughed at her expression.
“Is that why you want me to endure a six hour anxiety induced flight because you just want some?” She asked with a raised brow.
Tom laughed again. “I mean it wouldn’t be a bad thing to get some if you came.”
“Thomas Stanley Holland, if only your mother heard you right now.” She warned.
“I’d be in a shit load of trouble.” Tom responded as he took a seat on a bench. “I’m almost certain she believes we’re still virgins.”
“I don’t think you give your mother enough credit. We’re twenty and have stayed in multiple hotel rooms together since we were eighteen. I’m sure she knows we’re not saving ourselves for marriage.”
“Well I am. I’m saving all of me just for you.”
Rolling her eyes, she yawned. “Wrap it up, kid. I’m sleepy.”
“[Y/N] [M/N] [L/N], please for the love of god, will you get on the next plane and come to me.”
“Tom,” she whined again. “I’m seriously about to have a panic attack thinking about it. What do you think is going to happen if I do get on a plane for six hours.”
“You’ll probably hyperventilate and scare the shit out everyone that’s sitting beside you.” Tom shrugged his shoulders at her expression, “You asked.”
“I hate you sometimes.”
“No you don’t.”
“I really do.”
“Ahh, you really don’t.”
“I mean I could if you were here.”
“Thomas!” [Y/N] shrieked.
Laughing, Tom ran a hand through his hair. “Babe, just please come. I really need you. I’m getting so unbelievably stressed out right now and you always know what to do and say to make me feel better.”
[Y/N] groaned, she hated when Tom used that whole ‘you make my stress go away’ ruse. But, she knew at the same time that it wasn’t just a trick to get her there. She really didn’t know how she made Tom’s stress disappear but she did. “Baby.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” She groaned. “When I wake up later, I’ll look up the flights okay?”
Tom smiled, “Let me know which one and I’ll pay for it, okay?”
“Absolutely not.” She countered.
“What? Yes.” Tom snapped back, his brow raised. “I kind of peer pressured you into coming here, so let me pay for it okay?”
“And let you pay for my hotel room too? This is how it goes, you always pay for everything.”
“Of course not. You’re staying with me.” Tom grinned, “And I’m supposed to and before you hit me with the whole sexist shit, it’s also because I want to. You’re my Queen, baby.”
She rolled her eyes, but smiled. “I’ll see you soon, okay?”
“Won’t be soon enough. I love you, get some sleep.”
“I love you too and don’t worry I plan on it.” She blew him a kiss and ended the call. Setting her phone back on her nightstand, she sighed into her pillow. Reaching down to pull the collar of the hoodie she wore to her nose, she inhaled Tom’s scent. At least she’ll get to steal another hoodie of his when she visits. [Y/N] couldn’t even begin to count the number of his hoodies she had in her closet. And she was amazed that he kept buying them knowing that they would end up with her.
Smiling as she fell asleep, she couldn’t wait to see and feel him again.
so i read @reidbyers’s ask postabout librarians and spencer and while reading it, this sentence caught my attention: “sometimes he takes so many books out that a lot of the time people come in looking for a certain book and they have to be like sorry…spencer took that one and 21 more.” and it gave me an idea/insp for a small little one shot, so thanks @wheresthewater and @reidbyers for unknowingly giving me this idea! also i’m so sorry if this feels rushed!
While studying to get your doctorate in Psychology, you were fortunate enough to have every book you need for all of your classes at your fingertips, whether having your parents supply them for you or finding links to it online. While writing a paper, you noticed the assignment had some references from your very early Intro to Psych book. You realized quickly that you were going to need to go to the library; you had since given that book to a nice underclassman.
You didn’t mind, but occasionally, a book you wanted to check out would be gone and they always said the same thing.
“Sorry honey, it looks like Spencer has that book out at the moment.”
“Well it looks like Dr. Reid has that book.”
“Yup. Spencer again.”
It seemed like every time you needed a book from the library, Dr. Spencer Reid would check it out before you. The three main, kind elderly librarians found it amusing every time you mentioned a book he had checked out. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think they were conspiring against you.
Sighing, you grabbed your shoulder bag and keys and made your way out of your brick brownstone apartment building. “If this Spencer has my book this time, I might just scream…” You muttered to yourself as you walked down the street. Luckily the library was only a few blocks from your place. You could smell the air and could tell it was going to rain. You picked up your pace.
Walking in the large building, you smelled the books and smiled.
“Well hi, baby, what’re you looking for?” Came from Franny, your favorite librarian, knowing your routine by now.
“Hi Franny,” you grinned at her. “Do you have this book?” You handed her a crumbled piece of paper with the title of the book on it.
“Hmm,” Franny entered the title in her desktop and smiled knowingly. “I’m sorry hone–”
“Let me guess,” you rolled your eyes.
“Spencer has it,” you both said in unison. One cheerfully, and one tired. You guess who’s who.
“God, I’d love to give this Spencer a piece of my mind,” you shook your head. “He consistently checks out every book I want and I actually need this one!” You exclaimed.
“What for?” Franny asked.
“It’s my final. Our professor decided against a test final and just gave us a paper final. It counts for over half our grade and I know if I use the material in this book, I know I’ll ace that final…you see, I’m gonna make a callback reference to our intro to psycho book that’s gonna tie up my entire paper in a cute little bow.” You rambled, a bad habit you’ve gained whenever you become desperate for something. “I’m sorry,” you said. “You probably didn’t need to hear this, Franny.” You shook your head. “I’ll just check back tomorrow,” you turned and left quickly.
If you looked back, you’d seen Franny pursing her lips, pick up the phone, and dial a number. “Hi Spencer. It’s Franny. I’m sorry to bother you but I have a need for a book you checked out.”
You chewed on your lip as you walked into the library for the third day in a row. You weren’t expecting the book to be there today or any other day, but you had to at least check. Especially since your paper was due in three days. You inhaled as the familiar smell reached you again, a smile on your face, placating you for the time being. Today at the desk, was Esther, a particularly nosy woman.
“Hi Esther, any luck today?” You asked, already knowing the answer.
“Actually, maybe!” She answered you. “Spencer is coming by today to drop off some books and pick some up, so maybe your book will be in the bunch!” She offered.
You raised your eyebrow. “With my luck, probably not. But I finally get to meet this allusive Spencer.” You took a seat at the bench next to the main desk where the librarians worked and pulled out your laptop. It was a normal seat for you whenever you wanted to spend time at the library.
“Do you want some lemon bars, sweetie?” Esther, the known cook of the three main librarians, placed two lemon bars next to you.
“Thank you, Esther,” you grinned thankfully at her.
Deep into your studies, you didn’t noticed that an hour had gone past or that the other two librarians, Franny and Dorothy snuck in.
“Is he comin’?” Dorothy, with her deep southern accent, asked.
“Yes, Dorothy. He told me he’d be here at 4:15 and that boy never lies to me,” Esther replied, rolling her eyes.
“You sure this is gonna work?” Franny asked, pushing her gray curls aside. “What if they don’t like each other?”
“Fran, those two couldn’t be a better match. My Henry (God rest his soul) told me I had a knack for seeing lovers,” Esther nodded.
“That’s cuz you were always putting your nose in places it shouldn’t be –” Franny began to rebut but was interrupted by Dorothy.
“Shhh, he’s coming!”
Sure enough, walking to the desk was Dr. Spencer Reid of the BAU. Trademark cardigan, scarf, and shoulder bag on. “Hi ladies, is something special going on? It’s rare to see you all here at the same time. Although I get the library’s newsletter sent to me every month and I didn’t see any events happening today to warrant you all here at the same time today.” He began to ramble.
“Oh Spencer, don’t you worry about us,” Franny waved him off.
At the mention of the familiar name, your head popped up.
“I see you’re returning some books. May I check them in for you? Y/N here has been needing one you might have for quite some time now,” Dorothy grabbed the books from Spencer’s hand and slid them over to Esther. “Now leave us old ladies be to check these back in.” She shooed him away.
“So you’re the famous Spencer Reid,” you said as you saw him approach the bench next to you. “I’m not sure if its a pleasure to meet you or not,” you crossed your arms over your chest.
“Excuse me?” Spencer was taken aback. He saw you and blinked. You were beautiful. His mouth went dry, his heart stuttered, he felt a wave of adrenaline rush through him.
You couldn’t help yourself. No matter how good looking he turned out to be, you thought to yourself. The rage built. “Every time I want to check out a book from here, you always have it, every single time! And sometimes you keep the books for months on end!” You huffed.
“Statistically, that’s impossible. There’s no possible way that every single time you need a book, I somehow have it,” Spencer challenged. Your voice sounded beautiful to his ears. He wanted to hear more of it. At least when it wasn’t filled with anger.
“Ladies?” You asked the librarians, without turning your back from Spencer.
“Every single time.” Came their replies.
“…” Spencer had no reply to the three snarky librarians.
“Hmm,” you smirked at Spencer.
“I’m sorry,” Spencer said sincerely. “I didn’t know. If I did, I would’ve eagerly give you the books you needed.” I’d give you anything you want or need, his thoughts said, catching him off guard.
“Oh.” Your heart stuttered. He’s so sweet. And handsome. And obviously he reads since he consistently checks books out from here. And you weren’t expecting this response from him. You were fully expecting him to be this alpha male with a bunch of bravado. “W-well, thank you.”
“What book did you need so urgently that Franny called me?” Spencer couldn’t help but ask, the profiler in him begging to do so. The man in him, curious to hear more from her.
You told him the title. “I need it for my final paper. I-I’m getting my doctorate in psychology and I need it for one of my classes.”
“Spencer has three PhDs,” Esther added, boasting.
“Esther, hush,” Franny smacked her shoulder. “Let the kids do it by themselves,” she whispered to her.
“Three?” You were impressed. “Wow. You’d have to be kind of a genius to have three PhDs.” You said non nonchalantly.
“Well, certifiably, I am a genius. I have an IQ of 185 and can read 20,000 words per minute and have an eidetic memory, but I don’t necessarily like to call myself a genius,” Spencer bashfully said.
“Whoa…” You breathed. “But you’re totally one. A wonderful, brilliant genius,” the statement accidentally slipped out of your mouth and you blushed.
Spencer laughed, blushing as well. “Thank you.”
You and Spencer engaged in small talk during the time the librarians were checking in more books. In the back of your mind, you were wondering why they were taking so long. They never take this long. But in your Spencer filled haze, you didn’t care. You smiled at each other, both of you taking in the beauty of each other’s smiles. You quickly moved your stuff aside for him to take a seat next to you on the bench. He quickly glanced at your laptop and instantly read part of your paper. The topic quickly jumped to psychology which jumped into talking about people’s minds, which, thanks to Spencer, jumped to odd facts. You were amazing by this man and all he had to offer. He had given you some extra facts to put into your paper.
Meanwhile, the librarians were smiling at the two of you, silently cheering you both on. The women had never seen Spencer smile as large as he did with you and you had never opened up so quickly to another person. It took even Esther a few months before you even gave her a smile.
From then on, you and Spencer had a standing date at the library. In your bench. Occasionally Spencer would check out a book you’d randomly mentioned before just to rile you up. He was never able to live down the encounter that caused you to meet. While studying one night, Spencer rushed into the library and planted a kiss on your lips, changing your relationship with that. While he made the first move in your relationship, you made the first move in the bedroom. He was scared of his inexperience and you talked him through it. He proved to be a quick learner and with him reading smut novels for experiences and ideas in the bed, you were never ever unsatisfied.
You both adopted a dog, which you named Esther because of the dog’s keen sense of smell. Esther found it hilarious and promptly kissed you both on the cheek. “About time you named something after me! I’d better get a baby named after me!” She cackled.
The team noticed he was always happier and sometimes would walk in with his hair and ties ruffled. Luke could’ve sworn he saw a hickie on Spencer’s neck during a case. When he asked the boy genius about it, he immediately blushed at the memory.
“I want to try something,” you said shyly one night.
“What?” Spencer smiled, holding you in his lap. He furrowed his brow at your shyness. You’d gotten over that long before.
“I know you have sensory issues, but…I just want you to feel. Don’t think, but feel,” you told him as you wrapped your arms around him.
“I don–” He was cut off by you kissing his neck. He laughed, “Y/N, I have no problem with you kissing my — oh.” He felt a wet vacuum on his neck. He could feel your tongue working on his neck, the feeling new to him. It caused a stirring in his body. The same stirring he got when he was aroused. He couldn’t help himself as he grabbed your face and kissed you.
“Spence, I wasn’t done!” You exclaimed.
Spencer quickly removed your shirt. “And I’m just getting started,” he smiled.
Time passed quickly, yet slowly in your relationship. You were both so happy together. You didn’t know if you could be happier. He had come to your graduation, where you first met the team. They were suspicious and thought he relapsed so they followed him to you. The team loved you instantly. You quickly became a part of the family. JJ and Derek often called you and Spencer to baby sit. You kept your standing date at the library, even though you had no need of studying anymore. The three librarians always happy to see you both.
One day you went to the library to see all of them there. That never happened. Unless, like Spencer said the day you met, there was an event. And you knew there wasn’t. “What’re you ladies doing here?” You asked cheerfully.
“Oh no reason, darlin’,” Dorothy told you, looking like the cat who swallowed the canary. Actually, they all looked like that.
To your surprise, Spencer proposed to you. In that library. On that bench. The squeals from the ladies were deafening. You swore they cheered even louder than Spencer’s team at your wedding. They each made long toasts, the guests confused at first. Esther’s was full of details you both hadn’t known she knew. “Nosy old bat,” Franny had said. Esther had the entire room cackle with laughter. Dorothy’s speech was filled with many, many southern phrasings and accounts of key moments of your relationship which she was witness to. She was always the one you came to during struggles in your relationship. And Franny’s was filled with wisdom, love, and hope. She was the one who orchestrated your first meeting.
No one was surprised, however, when you became pregnant immediately after your wedding; the both of you eager to start a family. Everyone was surprised when your water broke in that fateful library. On your bench. While Spencer panicked and called, in order, the team, then the ambulance. Luckily the three ladies had all enrolled in midwifery quickly after your first meeting and helped you deliver your first child, Diana Dorothy, in that library. On your bench.
You were happy to inform Esther, a year after giving birth to your first son, that his first word was ‘Esther’. “This is better than having a baby named after me!” She hooted.
Unfortunately, with the times, the three ladies eventually passed. Esther first, Dorothy quickly after, then Franny held on long enough to see the birth of your third child, a girl you’d decided to call Francis Esther. In each of the ladies’ will, there was one statement that remained the same. “Give the library bench to Drs. Spencer and Y/N Reid. It has always been theirs.”
That bench sat in the library of your home with Spencer, underneath a beautiful window where you’d told your children stories of the three ladies who were responsible for everything they knew.
The Smithsonian was swarming with people, as expected on a warm weekend. Bucky had a cap on his head, wearing a red henley that covered his arms and a pair of old washed jeans. He strolled around the exhibits with his hands in his pocket, rounding the Captain America exhibit.
This wasn’t his first visit there since leaving Hydra. The first was when Steve brought him to help him, them, find some comforting part of the 40s. There was even this little corner with some information about Bucky himself and his Howling Commandos comrades. He enjoyed spending his free afternoons in the museum, it was the closest thing to his home back in the 40s he had in this big new country.
Student groups came and went with their teachers, no one paid mind to Bucky; and he liked that, peace and quiet. He settled himself in front of Steve’s motorcycle. His lips turned slightly into a small smile thinking about just now much his best friend used to like that bike.
The silence he had in his mind was broken when he heard squabbling to his left. Turning to the direction, his eyes fell to a small group of pre-schoolers decked in blue. In the center of the group was a young girl and boy; the boy was holding his shin, a grimace on his face and the girl had an indignant look on hers, her tiny arms crossed in front of her.
“How dare you call the Winter Soldier a monster? The sergeant is a hero you hear me?” words tumbled out of the young girl, the frown on her face deepening. The boy looked up at her and sneered “How would you know? You’re just a girl.”
Before the girl could give him a piece of her mind, the teacher stepped between the two and demanded them both to apologize to each other. “You two will be on time out. Sit on the bench with Mrs. Mary and reflect. Both of your parents will pick you up when the tour for the rest of the class ends. No argument!” the teacher warned, voice stern and brows furrowed.
Bucky looked on as he saw the two children sat on the two furthest ends of the bench, the girl still had her arms crossed. He took a seat on the bench nearest to theirs and at that point, he’s decided he was going to watch over her till her parents came. Just in case the boy was to do anything sneaky.
At that thought, he chuckled at himself and thought since she was going to defend his honor, he shall do his part and be her guardian for that afternoon. It was probably one of the sweetest things anyone has done for him since the 40s. A tiny girl defending him when he couldn’t even bring himself to defend his own honor.
“I’ll have you know that my mom works with the Avengers and she knows the Winter Soldier and she says he’s a war hero. Without him, we’ll all probably be Hydra.” she huffed, side-eyeing the boy as her teacher stood a short distance away, probably calling their parents.
A short half hour later, a young woman hurried into the exhibition hall, her heels clicking away. She lowered herself to the height of the young girl and chastised lightly, her eyes betraying her true emotions. “I heard someone’s in trouble, young lady,” she said, bopping the little girl’s nose.
Straightening herself, she shook the hands of the teacher and after a short conversation turned to her daughter and said, “Young lady, you will apologize to Brian now and say you’re sorry for kicking him the shin. There’s no excuse good enough for hurting someone you hear me.” The young girl begrudgingly turned to the smug boy and muttered a half-hearted sorry.
“And you Brian. You will apologize to Poppy for saying she’s just a girl. And for calling someone you don’t know a monster. Poppy is a lovely girl who will turn out just as amazing as any boy like yourself. Bucky, Sergeant Barnes is a respectable hero for our country, alright?” she chastised, lowering herself to Brian’s height.
Brain’s smug grin fell, as he looked at Poppy and apologized. “Alright. Now the two of you are going to shake hands and make friends alright.” she instructed.
Her daughter’s teacher gave her a grateful smile and thanked her, “You’re a life saver (Y/N). You should’ve joined us as a parent volunteer.” “If I had the time I really wouldn’t mind but you know how it is over at Stark Industries.” she replied, a resigned smile on her face.
Hearing her name, Bucky perked up and narrowed his eyes to get a better look at her. (Y/N)?Stark Industries? Could it be Pepper’s PA? That (Y/N)?Bucky’s always paid extra attention to her. Despite no one noticing it. Or perhaps Nat knew but just didn’t want to call him out on it. She did always have this knowing smirk on her face. (Y/N) always had this lovely smile on her face that made her eyes disappear into a cute crescent.
People mostly left Bucky alone. But not (Y/N). If she baked during the weekends, she always made sure to give him a couple of the treats she made. If he was coming back from a mission, she would always be there waiting. Well, she may have been waiting for anyone. Nat. Wanda. Steve. Thor. God forbid, Sam. But it always warmed his heart a little seeing her tiny figure from afar.
He knew the (Y/N) was a single mom. Her bastard of a boyfriend left once he knew she was expecting. She also knew she had to juggle a lot, there were even a couple of times Nat helped pick her daughter from pre-school when she was occupied with work.
As Bucky looked over, he saw that (Y/N) was holding on to her daughter’s hand, arms swaying as they walked towards the exit. He didn’t know what came over him, his shy demeanour that he acquired over time, vanished as he took large steps to the pair.
(Y/N) noticed his figure and a look of shock appeared on her face when she figures out who it was. He gave her a shy smile as he kneeled next to Poppy.
“Hi. You’re Poppy, right? I’m Bucky. Your mom’s fr-“ Bucky started. Before he could continue, Poppy let out an excited squeal and jumped into his arms.
“You’re The Winter Soldier! Sergeant Barnes! Can I really call you Bucky?” she babbled on, her tiny arms wrapped around Bucky. He couldn’t help but let out a hearty chuckle at her excitement as he returned her hug light.
“Of course you can Pumpkin. Please feel free to call me anything,” he replied, eyes meeting (Y/N)’s, her smile evident on her face as she laughed at her daughter’s antics.
“Oooooooo. How about Buckaroo? Bucky Bear? Cuddly Bucky? Big Barnes?” she listed name off her head, still not letting Bucky go. An affectionate chuckle escaped Bucky, as he scooped the young girl up, Poppy still happily listing out nicknames for the super soldier.
“You heading back to the office? Do you mind if I carry her the way back?” Bucky asked softly, his cheeks, a faint red.
(Y/N) laughed softly and said, “I don’t think she’s going to let you go anytime soon. You’re her hero you know?”
Bucky’s cheeks flushed a deeper red, as he awkwardly scratches the back of his head.
I know I haven’t written much or been on Tumblr much. I have been majorly busy with college and I’m so drained. It would mean the world to me if I could get some feedback on this. I hope everyone enjoys this!
