(I’ve never written Office fic before but I was feeling inspired. ohmyohpioneer, happy belated birthday. Hope you enjoy this Jam thing.)

AU where Jim went to Stamford but never came back to Scranton.

AU where Jim told Pam he was in love her and her face fell (because he was ruining it, why couldn’t they just - stay, stay like this, stay pretending, living this half - why did he have to say something and mess it all up?) and she said something about friendship and he wanted to be more than that and apologized for misinterpreting their friendship (but they both knew there was no misinterpretation) and then he was gone -

And then he kissed her (and she kissed him back - was as active in what happened in the office at his desk because she’s an idiot who wanted to still be close to him, or something, opting to call her mom from his desk rather than hers) and -

You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.

(Except she does know. Because she’s wanted it, too.)

But she can’t and she’s really gonna marry him, and, for the second time, that night, Jim leaves.

(And then he really leaves.)

I knew that going into it, but I don't care. I literally don't care. It might've been an analogy for death, but at face value, it was stupid and totally out of character. Rainbow Dash wouldn't go sabotage her friends and family and then go vandalize Cloudsdale just to keep her pet turtle from hibernating. All I ask is that the characters do things that make logical sense and act like real, 3-dimensional people. I'm not saying they can never make mistakes, just not turn into cartoonish morons.

What, do you think the show’s not a cartoon or something? Cause I kind of hate to break it to ya, the character’s have been very cartoonish since Season 1. I mean, they were the least Cartoonish in season 1, but they threw that out the window with episode 1, 2, and 3 of Season 2 with both Discord and Lesson Zero, where they immediately went full cartoon and have kept pace with that since.

And when it comes to emphasizing a lesson, they’ll over exaggerate a character’s traits to meet a point. Dash has been this way for a long time now, it’s not like her being an over-reacting idiot is anything new.

The episode was enjoyable because it showed it’s point in a relatable way, all 5 stages of grief in order, the desperate things people will do for the ones they love, and how that you can come to terms with people/animals leaving your life. And that took priority.

It’s fine if you didn’t care for the episode, but I found it to be just fine within the context of the show.
