“But the main attraction here is Claire Danes. As with Lewis, it’s an extremely physical performance, one conducted frequently in silence, but where she’s constantly in touch with her surroundings and conveying every important piece of information through body language and expression. There’s a great sequence late in the pilot where she’s trying to get dressed for a night out, and the mere act of her trying to choose the right top takes on as much weight as the conversation with Saul that led to it.” –Alan Sepinwall

Damian Lewis: I haven’t seen [the pilot] for a while. It’s so revealing to see something after a bit of distance, a little bit of time, seeing it more objectively, because you advocate so strongly for your own character, don’t you, when you’re playing it, that you lose much of the ambiguity that people see it with, the judgments they’re making on you, don’t you, as they’re watching it?
Claire Danes: It’s true, I’m feeling that, too, I’m experiencing that as well.
Damian: And you look at it and you go, well… [Brody’s] just shady as hell.
Claire: [Laughs.] Same with Carrie! It’s true.
Damian: Actually, I just, I just thought I was damaged and just really struggling in the world.
Claire: I know. Because people kept saying, you know, “Were you aware of the risk of alienating audiences to the extent that you were?” And I was like, What?! She’s the most sympathetic person ever! [I had] no consciousness of the fact that she might be a little unpalatable.
Alex Gansa: Just take a little look at your performance in the van here, Claire.
Claire: I don’t know, she seemed like, you know, a teddy bear to me.
