season 2010 2011

Fun Fact

See the doggie tissue box behind Victor? Doesn’t it look familiar?

Victor’s poodle tissue box was inspired by Yuzuru Hanyu’s Pooh Tissue Box!

For those of you who don’t know the backstory on this beautiful tissue box: Figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu always had a miniature pooh bear along with his tissue boxes during his junior days, 2009-2010 season. Then a simple pooh cover with tissues coming out of his nose was introduced in the 2010-2011 season. Then finally, the Pooh tissue box was born in the 2011-2012 season and they have been inseparable ever since. Most of the times, Pooh is seen beside Yuzuru’s coach cheering him on in every competition outside the rink. Funny fact to go along with it, when Yuzu moved to Toronto, his coach Brian Orser stated in an interview, that when he saw Yuzuru, he said, “I always thought he was that weird kid with the Winnie the pooh doll. Now I’m that kid’s coach…and I have to carry it.”

IN CONCLUSION, YUZU X POOH = TRUE FRIENDSHIP

Top 10 Daisuke Takahashi programs (competitive)

I’m gonna be honest here. I, like many other people and aunties out there am a huge Daisuke Takahashi fan. In fact, he is the definition of figure skating to me and there will be no other skater like him, ever. And this is a good thing. It makes him special and he is hopefully inspiring juniors to find their own skating personality and achieve their own brilliance; Tatsuki Machida and Shoma Uno are probably the most notable examples and I’m sure more will follow. How do you describe a skater like Daisuke Takahashi? Experts, bloggers and fans have already done this, numerous times. It is pointless for me to start painting a picture of him because it would most likely end up being an unworthy attempt. His skating speaks for itself and I am merely trying to pay a tribute to (imo) his most notable programs. So yes, you read that right; this is a subjective Top 10 Daisuke Takahashi programs.

Do you think coach Q is a good coach?

Hello Anon,

Insane that you should ask me this because I was just thinking about Q and the Hawks current predicament, this morning.

I woke up asking myself, “Can they fire Q for this playoff run?” I mean, we are on the verge of being swept, we haven’t been this bad in the post-season since… last year when we were this bad in the post-season.

I thought about it for a while, and I thought about other teams in the league and how many coaches have gotten fired for muuuch less, but then I remembered something; I remembered the 2010-2011 season and the 2011-2012 season.

I wasn’t a fan of hockey yet, but we had just won our first Cup in over 40 years, and everyone was expecting us to go back-to-back or at least win every other year, and we didn’t. We won in 10 and then the next win wasn’t until 13, but the fact of the matter was that even though we had two ‘cool off’ years where we didn’t win anything and got outst from the run, we still came back to win two years after 10.

So that was all Q, I mean, obviously that was the players, and the coaching staff, and the fans, and everything, but a HUGE part of why we’ve been so effective and have had such great results in the last 7 years is because of Q.

His coaching and the way that he handles the guys is unmatched to any other coach we’ve ever had in this dynasty… mostly because we’ve only had him, but what I’m really trying to say is that if we were like those other teams, that cycle their coaching staff every year they don’t win The Cup, we never would have won 13 or 15

Obviously I don’t know what’s going to happen, and there is a total possibility of the admins firing Q and Stan and basically everybody if we don’t comeback in this series, but I doubt it. It’s just not the way we roll.

Besides, Q is the winningest coach in the entire league, why would we give that up for a few seasons that ended badly?

Hope that answered your question, and thank you for the ask!!

Dear Bastian

I fell in love with you 5 years ago, oh I was one of those girls that only watch the world cup and nothing else and that june 13 of 2010 I saw a boy making a corner against Australia and he had a really weird name on his back but that moment I knew I had fallen in love, so I watched every match and I learned to spell and pronunciate his name before the world cup was over, and I cried that day against Spain and the day you were the captain against Uruguay. When the world cup ended I had time to learn about this boy, I wanted to see again so I learned about Bayern and I started watching them, Im not gonna lie at first it was for you, you were the reason, you made me love football.

If you remember it the 2010-2011 season wasn’t easy as a bayern and a Bastian fan it was hard, first we lost the champions league in the round of sixteen against Inter, then we lost the pokal semifinal against Schalke and later we fought in bundesliga to finish 3rd and go to the knock outs of the champions so we can play the next season and during all that I fell in love with Bayern, it wasnt just for you and next season my love grew up

The 2011-2012 season was even more traumatic: first your injury in november of 2011 playing vs Napoli, I cried, I saw you in pain and cried, then you came back but we lost the bundesliga it went to dortmund and we finished 2nd, after we played the pokal final and again we saw BvB celebrating, we had our hopes in the Finale DAHOAM, and well, we lost, in those penalties, and once again I saw you crying and I cried but I also cried because you had taught me to love that club and now we had nothing but pride. After that I saw you with the National Team and we lost againts Italy. This season was a nightmare

The 2012-2013 started at least in the Champions League with your goal against Valencia, YOU FAILED THE CL FINAL PENALTY AND YOU WERE SCORING THE FIRST CL GOAL OF THE NEW SEASON, then we made history, your dreams came true, you won the champions league with the club you’ve love, and what a way to win it winning the treble, you made history. Our club made history.

The 2013-2014 you won another double and with the national team became a WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS. that was it, all your dreams came true, there was nothing more to win for you in bayern.

in 2014-2015 YOU SCORED THE GOAL THAT GAVE US THE BUNDESLIGA

Now you are leaving the club you taught me love, and I cant change your mind, you are leaving Bayern like a legend you went from thepunk boy breaking the club rules to the boss, a legend and our vice captain and Im so proud.

You left a mark on the club and I hope one day you’ll come back because I you retiring with the club that made you who you are right now.

and for me, well “You can change your wife, your politics, your religion, but never, never can you change your favourite football team.” you will always be my favorite footballer but I wont change Bayern. Thank you for your 17 years with Bayern and thank you for the last 5 years where I enjoyed your passion for or club.

I guess that redoing Jk’s sentences I can say ‘’The Allianz will always be there to welcome you home’’ I wish you the best, because that’s what you deserve, you deserve love and happines and I hope you find it there

Kent and Tater have been hooking up at the NHL Awards ceremony in Vegas nearly every year since Tater joined the Falcs in the 2010-2011 season. They never talk about it otherwise, don't hook up when they play their two-games-per-year against one another. Both of them desperately want something more, but are afraid of changing the dynamic, thinking the other just wants an annual one-off. They look more forward to seeing one another than receiving awards. (1/2)

(2/2) Kent’s especially bitter when Jack joins the Falcs because now BOTH guys he couldn’t/can’t have are on the same team. He watches the Falcs TV episodes obsessively and hates how close he sees them getting. When Jack tells him he’s dating someone, he’s terrified/convinced that it’s Tater, especially when Jack doesn’t confirm who it is, just says, “You’ve met him.” Kent, not much of a physical player, actually checks both Jack and Tater at their next game. Jack’s baffled. Tater is determined.

Oh my lorrrrrrdddddd.  I can totally imagine Tater needing to find out why Kent is being so rude.  He had thought they were at least friends, even if Kent didn’t want to be more than that, right?  So poor Tater just being all upset inside, but determined outside.  When he confronts Kent, he has his thick arms crossed across his chest, looking every inch like the big Russian hockey player he is.  Kent is /not/ intimidated, of course.  Then cue arguing and Tater, this beautiful marshmallow man finally bringing up their current relationship, I mean he had nothing to lose, Kent already seemed to hate him.  Tater furrows his brows and finally says quietly; “Kent, I know you not want more with me, but no need to be dick.”  Kent if of course charged to attack back, but the words only half fall from his mouth as his brain processes both Tater’s slightly hurt tone and the meaning of his words.  “Wait what?”  Cue baffled Kent.  “I thought you didn’t want more between us?  Not to mention Jack, I mean, it’s not like you can pin this all on me.”  Of course then there’s a very confused potato man.  “What Zimmboni do with this?  Of course I want more with you??”  Of course hopefully Kent feels a little shitty when he realizes what’s actually going on, but Tater makes him feel better because no self-loathing with Tater around, no Sir!  Then of course the two go on a date and there’s blushing and smiling and scowling, and it’s just super cute and ends with Tater cooking Kent breakfast in his apartment wearing just briefs and Kit Purrson curling around his legs.  <3

I needed thissss, thank you so muuuuch.  I just really love Patater so much.

Big Education is just as rotten as Big Business.

State colleges are slowly going bankrupt. California’s university system has raised tuition 100% over the past five years - while slashing student aid. When students protested another 9% raise for the next year, campus police staged a brutal crackdown.

The City University of New York (CUNY) was started in the earthy 20th century as a “free” university. But students are protesting there too after tuition and fee hikes. CUNY now faces closing some of its doors.

Even Cooper Union, the high-minded art school who prided themselves as tuition-free for over a century, will start charging students as of fall 2014.

If schools aren’t costing young adults and their families a fortune, they’re busy covering up scandals, reaping huge profits and bilking the government from millions in taxes.

Penn State officials were fully aware of and subsequently attempted to cover up the sexual abuse of minors by a well known football coach named Jerry Sandusky. He almost got away with his crimes because of his connection to athletics and prestigious standing in the community. Sandusky was found guilty and is in prison right now.

Speaking of sports, colleges invest millions of dollars into their coaches and sports teams. Penn State generated $72 million in profit and $52 million in revenue for the 2010-2011 season.

But get this: colleges and universities don’t have to pay a dime of taxes on their tuition revenue or interest on their endowments. That means that Harvard can keep every penny of their $35 billion stash. And every year they haul in about $5 billion more. How’s that for liberal hypocrisy? And while most nonprofits are required by law to give back to the community in some way (hospitals must treat indigent patients), colleges offer absolutely nothing except the dated nobility of educating minds. How is bankrupting families and saddling young people with thousands in debt a service to anybody?

No wonder colleges and universities keep on raising tuition endlessly: it’s a guaranteed way to make more money each year. But where does it all go? Well, we know that the CEO of universities make as much as 40 times more than the lowest paid university employee. Oh, and those CEO’s aren’t any shining examples themselves: the white board chairman of Roger Williams University was caught using the “N” word before resigning.

Wake up. That dorm room, cafeteria, and gym are all part of an extremely clever scheme that is hideously abusing the pubic’s trust, stealing your money and laughing all the way to the bank while doing it all.

It’s the 21st century, the age of information. Give Big Education a failing grade and let’s move on from that old manipulative system.
