Summer Solstice Celebration!

Hello my lovelies!
Only one week left until the Summer Solstice and I am just beaming for the upcoming celebration! I decided to make another post like my Spring Equinox celebration one since you all seemed to like it so much. I do plan on having a bit more of a ‘proper’ ritual and celebration of the day since that Monday I have off from work, but here are some other low-key ways that I am going to celebrate the day. I’ve split it into two sections of day activities and night ones because the Summer Solstice can go all night long and I plan on doing a whole cycle’s worth of things.

During the Day:

  • Greet the sun! I know it’s going to be an early sunrise, but if you’re there to greet the sun, you’ll be starting the day off on the right foot! You can either just lay in bed and watch the sun rise from your window or head outside and do a sun salutation, both will give you energy!
  • Wear your favourite summer clothes! Shorts, tanks tops, t-shirts, sun dresses- even flip flops if you can get away with it! The colours associated with Liltha are reds, oranges, yellows/golds, blues, greens and white!
  • I’m going to be setting my citrine, clear quartz and peridot stones absorb the sunlight throughout the day- other gems that would love to be out on the Summer Solstice would be fluorite, sunstone, agate, carnelian, and any stone that is green or yellow in colour! But you best check to see if it’ll fade in colour before you set it out all day. If that might happen, then the moon light will work just as well.
  • For lunch, enjoy a summer salad filled with summer berries like strawberries and blueberries, apples, leafy greens and a sweeter dressing! The berries are a great way of celebrating what the summer will bring for you.
  • Get outside! I don’t care if it’s for five minutes at your lunch break or an hour long hike like I plan on doing, but get outside and live in nature! Breath in the fresh summer breeze, feel the sun on your skin, meditate and be with nature.
  • There are so many ways to drink summer in- literally! Lemonade, iced tea, fruit juices, herbal teas like chamomile, rose or lavender will be such a great way to get just that little bit of summer in you.
  • Today is also a great day to try and interact with the faeries and fae folk. Leave a small offering of milk and honey (or a honey cake!) outside in your garden, in a park, on the outside window ledge, and the fae will appreciate the gesture! Who knows- that could be the start of a relationship between you and them.

At Night:

  • Have friends over or go out to dinner! If nothing else, the summer solstice is about celebrating with friends and family! It’s about being thankful for what you have and getting excited for the summer, so get together and discuss your upcoming summer plans! Who knows what might come out of it?
  • Listen to music- your favourite music, and sing your heart out! The god Apollo (the Greek god of Light, Sun, music and poetry) is one of the many gods who will be thriving off the activities of today and you can honour them by just enjoying music and art.
  • Light candles- or your barbecue! Traditionally, this sabbat is celebrated with a balefire (outside campfire), but if you’re like me and lack an outside fire pit, then lighting up the bbq and cooking up some veggie or meat kebabs will be a good way of making a feast and substituting the ‘real thing’. No BBQ? No stress- light up some candles and watch it glow. Bonus points if they are coloured or scented to match the holiday.
  • Make a craft for the summer- a flower crown, a bird house, a sun catcher. I know I plan on making a flower crown and perhaps painting that day, but so long as you create something, spell or not, it can honour the day’s celebrations.
  • Watch the sunset- like watching the sunrise, watching the longest day of the year come to a close will be an amazing way to celebrate the whole of the Summer Solstice.
  • Are you of legal age? Have a drink of summer wines or berry ciders- just remember to give either the first or last sip to nature, the faeries will find it!
  • Decorate your home for summer and for the summer solstice by incorporating some common symbols as decor- seashells, fresh flowers like sunflowers, daisies, carnations, and peonies, little statues of birds, deer, faeries, feathers from birds, and shining crystals. The summer decor, beach house look is always a popular one during June and July so you’ll bled right in.

So this is the rough outline of what I plan on doing during the Summer Solstice! I am going to do a spell that day I think, but I haven’t decided what just yet. I’m thinking a motivation spell or a creativity spell, so I can charge up my summer and all the writing I plan on doing. All I know is that it’s going to be a great day! I hope that I have inspired you to celebrate, regardless of how busy you may be that Monday.

I hope you have an amazing week and a fantastic Summer Solstice! Love you all and sending all my good vibes out to you for this summer.

When you were young, you begged your parents to take you to see the beach. This was your family vacation suggestion every year. All because you wanted to feel the sand between your toes and slip between your fingers and to watch each grain land right back where it was meant to be. And much like those grains of sand falling away from you, those trips seems to go by, and eventually they ceased the older you got.

Since then, being a prime age of twenty now, you’ve long since yearned to return to the beach town you’ve come to know and love for more than its seaside views.

With school out for another few months and nothing but time to kill, you’re actually more than ecstatic to take up a summer job at Bang’s Snack Shack. It’s directly across from the shores, and the view is absolutely amazing. You can see the way the sun reflects against the waters when it’s high up in the sky and when it goes down. The rays of orange and yellows bounce off the blues in a pretty swirl with small dots of people enjoying the waves on long boards. Each of them practically floating as the blue hues carry them across the vicinity until they’re in the safe confines of the wading area.

You enjoy the sight of surfers though you’re definitely no surfer yourself. You just find their ability in skimming the waters on a long piece of polished and colored wood amazing, especially when they’re at the peak of the waves build-up, and suddenly they’re coming back to the sands with bright eyes and grins to match on their sun-kissed skins. There’s just something beautiful in their enamored states, and although you can never truly understand it, you’re happy to witness it with your own two eyes until a customer snaps you back to reality.

Aphrodite altar ideas

1. Pick a place for the altar. This can be a shelf in a closet if you want it to be discreet, a bathroom counter, or my personal favourite it setting it up on a vanity if you have one.

 2. Stick to an Aphrodite colour scheme. Think pinks, reds, sea foam blue, and gold. I use a pink scarf from the dollar store as an altar cloth.

3. Have something in the middle to represent Aphrodite. This doesn’t need to be an expensive statue. Some ideas include

- An old barbie

- a picture of Aphrodite you printed off from the internet

- any photo of a woman you find beautiful

- a figure you made yourself

4. Have an offering bowl or dish of some sort in front of your Aphrodite representation. The thrift store is a perfect place to get this. I found an iridescent seashell dish for $2.

5. Decorate! This part is the most fun. Stick to things that represent Aphrodite. This may include:

- a vase of roses (fake ones are honestly best since they don’t die)

- alternatively you can get some potpourri with dried roses

- make up and jewelry, especially pearls

- anything with hearts (check out the dollar store around valentines day)

- seashells or anything ocean related

- Doves, swans, rabbits, bees, and dolphins are all favoured my Aphrodite (avoid pigs, she hates them)

- Fairy lights or pink Christmas lights

- Get a few small pieces of rose quartz if you can

- Really anything beautiful (think flowers of any kind, snow globes, antique music or jewelry boxes)

- You can also create a collage of beautiful pictures on the wall behind the altar

6. Maintain your altar. Try not to be disrespectful by letting it get too messy. Keep it looking nice and every once in while take the altar cloth off, wash it, and spray the surface down with some rose water if possible.

anonymous asked:

Is your ask box open? If so, can you do Shiratorizawa beach Headcannons? Thank you!

I am LIVING for this request

  • Doesn’t visit the beach often.
  • Thinks they’re there for training so he automatically starts running along the beach.
  • Knows a lot about sunscreen from reading all of the ads from Tendou’s mangas.
  • Eventually runs around the whole beach only to find everyone sun burnt with sand in their pants.

  • Seems crabby the whole time but is actually just worried that somebody’s going to dunk his head underwater.
  • Secretly hopes that a cute girl will ask him to play beach volleyball.
  • Decides to try out surfing thinking it’ll be easy.
  • Falls head first into the water and is teased for the rest of the summer by his team.

  • Is halfway tempted to run around the beach with Ushijima when he realizes he’s not with them anymore.
  • Excited to look for seashells instead of swimming.
  • Brought lots of water so everyone stays hydrated. He’s basically the mom of the group.
  • Makes sure everyone behaves and doesn’t get in trouble with the lifeguard.

  • Falls asleep and wakes up buried in the sand.
  • Doesn’t put on any sunscreen so his body turns the same color as his hair. Everyone refers to him as Larry the Lobster for the rest of their volleyball career.
  • Finds crabs to put in Semi’s shorts. Semi doesn’t talk to him for the remainder of the trip.
  • Can’t decide whether to buy an ice cream or a popsicle at the beach’s cafe so he buys both. One of them ends up melting though making him really sad.

  • Gets dared by Tendou to talk to some really cute third years.
  • Doesn’t want to get his hair wet so he tries his best to stay out of the water.
  • Gets splashed by taichi by accident and is depressed for the rest of the day.
  • Ultimately ends up losing a game of beach volleyball and has to jump off a cliff into the ocean. Loses his swimming trunks

  • Stays out of the sun and hangs out in the cafe for most of the day.
  • Tries his best to build a sandcastle under his umbrella.
  • Reon lets him borrow some of his seashells to decorate the castle with.
  • Laughs when nobody looking when he remembers that bang boy lost his swimming trunks.

  • Dominates at beach volleyball until he accidentally breaks the net in half.
  • Brings his own watermelon to the beach and hides it from Tendou.
  • Goes swimming and gets really excited about it. Ends up accidentally splashing everyone, not noticing he’s getting all hyped up.
  • Asks Yamagata if he brought a beach ball so they could invite some of the girls on the beach to play with them.

  • His favorite thing about the beach is going to the cafe and buying a lemonade.
  • Goes along with Taichi’s plan to invite some girls to play ball with them.
  • Challenges Wakatoshi to a game of who can find the most starfish. Winner has to buy everyone ice cream and lemonade.
  • Yamagata loses the match and cries on the inside because he realizes he left his wallet at home.

Thanks for requesting!

Another beautiful part of Guernsey:

“A work of art and a labour of love, the Little Chapel is possibly the smallest chapel in the world. It was built by Brother Déodat who started work in March 1914. His plan was to create a miniature version of the famous grotto and basilica at Lourdes in France. Guardianship of the Little Chapel now rests with Blanchelande Girls College which is run by a Charitable Trust. The Little Chapel is beautifully decorated with seashells, pebbles and colourful pieces of broken china and the College has an ongoing programme of repairs and improvements.”

If anyone ever visits, this is a must see. The detail and dedication is shown throughout, something always catches your eye.
