seafood tempura

Once we arrived in Ina City, Nagano, we set up in the Hotel Cenpier and prepared for our welcome reception in the City function hall. Here we were treated to a wonderful, traditional Japanese song complete with traditional Japanese instruments, which was an immense delight. After the opening musical number and opening statements (which was an incredible amount of standing for high heels; my feet were burning 😂) we were treated to an incredible buffet of delectable Japanese seafood 🍤, meats 🍢, sushi 🍣 & tempura veggies. Halfway through dinner we were surprised with a traditional Japanese dance concerning the act of seppuku. After dinner we experienced an incredible cultural event known simply as the Japanese “drinking party.” This is a long standing Japanese tradition with one goal - drink! “Kanpai” we shouted over and over again as Asahi 🍺 and warm Sake were brought to our tables by gracious hosts in honor of tradition; seriously! “Here comes the dizzy!” was a popular English phrase that was heard uttered throughout the night as the sake pouring intensified. Our hosts were not only some of the most well spoken, kind hearted and artfully formal people that I have ever met in my life, but they were also some of the most fun! After dinner and drinks, we closed the ceremonies with a formal parting song and departed with a “Arigato gozaimasu, hajimemashite! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu, tanoshimi ni shiteimasu.” 🍻🍶🎉❤️🙏🏻
