“Must I go bound while you go free? Must I love a man who doesn’t love me? Must I be born with so little art as to love a man who’ll break my heart?”
Viktor pauses halfway down the stairs. The sea churns below him, the tide coming in rapidly against the shore, swallowing almost every strip of sand on the beach below. He rolls up his trousers, grits his teeth, and continues.
This is a beautifully written fic, following the story of Victor as a best-selling author who moves to a small town in Scotland looking for inspiration and finds so much more instead.
The prose is amazingly written and from the first chapter immediately pulls you in. The supernatural elements, the angst, the mystery and the aesthetic makes the fic a joy to read. The relationship between Victor and Yuuri progresses so naturally and the lovingly, and the rifts that occur, the rising tension has the reader on edge. The whole execution of the plot is lovely and you can really see the love and research put into it. If you want to be completely swallowed by a work of fiction then I would recommend this.
