I really loved the panning scene at the beginning of Off Colors.

It took forever but I edited it together in this one really, really, really long image. There camera was zooming as well as panning so it’s not perfect and that really bothers me but it’s all breathtaking nonetheless!

But have we ever seen Yuri Katsuki eating actual Katsudon?

We’ve seen Victor eating it quite happily~

And we’ve even seen Yurio indulging in Yuri’s favourite food…

And the dish, which is prominently named after Yuri, is available every day, all year round for the patrons of Yutopia Katsuki, where a good portion of the story takes place…

He even expressed a wish to eat Katsudon with Victor…

And sure, we get to see him eating a Piroshki filled with rice and katsu, but that’s not the Katsudon that he loves…

But poor Yuri had to stick with salad during his training…

We’ve never even see him indulge in his favourite dish… And I think that is so very sad.

PETITION TO FEED YURI KATSUDON.

The Foreigner (2017, starring Jackie Chan) is unfortunately likely going to be racist.

The Foreigner is based off a 1992 book by Stephen Leather, called The Chinaman, which stars a Vietnamese main character.

So this means we have a slew of problems.

  • Creators of The Foreigner paid a Very White man to make a movie on his book regarding a Vietnamese father.
  • The role of the known Vietnamese characters went to two Chinese actors- Jackie Chan, and his character’s daughter, starring Katie Leung.
  • Those roles are still of Vietnamese characters, even in the movie.

[Image: Screenshot of Jackie’s character’s passport. The name on the passport is Ngoc Minh Quan, place of birth is stated as Vietnam.]

To say two Chinese actors look like Vietnamese people, not only erases SE Asians from media, it also tells Asians like myself that we all look alike.

And, as twitter user linhtropy pointed out, this raises a number of issues.

Base level information: 1. China was one of Vietnam’s colonizers. This is similar to whitewashing in terms of power dynamics.

3. The Fall of Saigon was in 1975. It’s still fresh for most Viet ppl. I don’t feel comfy w white ppl using this pain for entertainment.

I’m not comfortable with this either.

Tweet by TheDevil’s Sidechick (@FeministaJones):

Piss a man off today: Tell him you agree with his compliment of you.

  • Men, who don’t (as often) have to deal with Men retracting compliments when they agree with them, are really upset in my mentions 😂😂😂
  • Also an interesting observation is how many assume that a woman wouldn’t say Thank You when agreeing with them. Lol
  • “Just say Thank You” they cry, not knowing what to do after a woman agrees with them.
  • They even complain when you say “Thanks” with a straight face instead of “Thank you” with frilly giggles and fake blushed 😂😂😂😂
  • I’ve had SEVERAL men tell me they found “thanks” an offensive reply to a compliment given to a woman 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
  • I see it every day because that’s my usual response.
  • “Thanks” and keep walking. I get yelled at. Cursed at. “That’s all you gonna say?”
  • That goes back to what most women were saying abt their experiences w/this. The expectation’s that women should show no self-appreciation
  • And/or should be overjoyed by a someone (a man) saying something positive about them (that they weren’t supposed to know already)
  • Men as teachers. Men as validation. Men as approval. Men as decision-makers of what is “hot”. Men as arbiters of praise. Men in control.

so i was going about my day, googling facts about dinosaurs, as you do, when i spotted this name

[Image: a screenshot of Wikipedia reading ‘Dracorex’]

[Image: Wikipedia text reading ‘Dracorex is a dinosaur genus of the family Pachycephalosauridae, from the Late Cretaceous of North America. The type (and only known) species is Dracorex hogwartsia, meaning “dragon king of Hogwarts”.’]
