British tv cooking competitions: held in a large tent in the middle of a field, the host is a lesbian comedian and the judge is an adorable 80 year old woman, everything is a terrible pun, all the contestants are friends and cry when someone is eliminated
US tv cooking competitions: the set is a barely-lit dungeon, no one smiles in the entire series, rock/screamo musical intro, every sentence is emphasised with a cymbal crash, everyone hates each other especially the judges, at least one contestant is introduced holding a gun
“But the house gets so quiet Sitting here wishing for just an hour or two, alone with you Well, it’s always too personal, Always too close to comment. They all mention how tired you look And you realize you haven’t said a word in hours Well, who’s hiding it? Who the hell is hiding it?”
Look at you. You’re young and you’re scared. Why are you so scared? Stop being paralyzed. Stop swallowing your words. Stop caring what other people think. Wear what you want. Listen to the music that you want to listen to. Play it loud as fuck and dance to it. Go out for a drive at midnight and forget that you have school the next day. Stop waiting for Friday. Live now. Do it now. Take risks. Tell secrets. This life is yours. When are you going to realize that you can do whatever you want.
I think what makes SM artists stand out to me is the fact that they are constantly changing styles of music. SHINee and EXO are the best examples of this. SHINee going from a dance song like View to a funky song like Married to the Music then a 90’s style song in 1 of 1. EXO have had a rock (kinda screamo) in MAMA, reggae jam in Kokobop and EDM songs like Wolf. It keeps their artists interesting to me.
