Currently reading ‘The Hardcore Diaries’ and its definitely up there with his other autobiographical works. A great inside look into Micks tenure in WWE leading to ONS (The one with Edge and Lita, and Dreamer, Beulah and The Funker - and the awesome John Cena Vs RVD main event). You kinda get to see a bit more of the behind the scenes stuff in his other books and its really interesting to follow Mick’s processes when he ventures off into 'Promoland’ or builds an angle. I’d heartily recommend all of Mick’s work, and am interested to read his fiction works as well. He’s a great writer and seems to be a really nice guy as well. I’ve been a fan of his since I was a skinny nerd, and am still now as a fat nerd. Foley is certainly good.

We’d be eating here in leeds, at sandinista. Its a nice mexican/tapas style restaurant with a great selection of beer/cocktails. The atmosphere is nice, and it has a laidback vibe. I’d probably ask them to bob on a spotify playlist i’d made, but they always tend to play a mix of classic rock, classic pop and mariachi style music. Its good, you’d like it.

I’d recommend visiting the place if you are ever in Leeds, if you are off to Leeds and don’t know your way around, drop me a message I can tell you directions to great food!

We’d have the Pork Belly with Apple Chutney that they sell at Sandinista, its a great dish, its got loads of flavour and is great in a ‘this is definitely bad for me’ way.

Hard Rock Cafe style BBQ ribs, with a big portion of chips and beans and coleslaw. A full rack of them, dripping in BBQ sauce. That would be spot on. Yeah, i’ve gone double pork, so sue me. I like pork and I don’t care who knows.

Mars Bar Cheesecake, as made by Laura. Its really really really nice. Have a big scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream with it.

I guess, me and the guests would be sinking a few pints of Sierra Nevada. Its a delicious Beer, but it is very moreish.

Have been reading some of Harvey Pekar’s Another Dollar today. American Splendor is a perfect reason as to why comics are a one of the best ways to tell stories. Moods and humour pass through into the subconscious so well when they don’t have to be written down, and their printed nature means that unlike a film, you can linger on one image for as long as you like before you move to the next. I thoroughly believe that as a writer, Pekar is amongst the American greats like Poe or Fitzgerald.

External image
The panel above is not from Another Dollar, but I thoroughly recommend any of his anthologies. Also, the movie starring Paul Giamatti (The thing that got me into Pekar) is a great film, and a real good look at a man who admirably did everything his own way.

Harvey Pekar was a curmudgeon and an insightful writer. Some of his appearances on Letterman were the mark of a true rebel and a man to be respected in a world where reliance on a positive image is the cornerstone of media perception.

His passing last year was a real loss to the world of comics writing and leaves a gaping hole in comic- culture.

Anthologies and the DVD of the film can be picked up at the usual places. I’d say go amazon, they have a good variety. If you head over to youtube you can catch some of the Letterman stuff.

I love the fact, its been split into two parts. I love the cast, Smith and Gillan are amazing and my favourite pairing in NewWho. In fact, I have to say that Moffet Who, or ‘New New Who’ is the best version of Dr. Who I have ever watched. The stories are exciting and quick, well plotted and the action is great.

Why is the picture of just Karen Gillan eating an ice cream? Well, because I can do that, and she’s pretty awesome.

This has provided me with much laughter this week. Yeah, the story is horrible. But at its heart is this picture, an image which overlaid with the textual evidence showing it, as a bleak portrait of one childs sad existence is a haunting reminder than familys need to care for their children, rather than overwhelm them. On the other hand, haha look at him. He’s so hungry, he’s trying to eat the spoon. Chubby little bugger!

Yo, Google Analytics Search Results.

How you doing? Whats rolled in this month. Just, how have people been searching for me?

Was it using keywords such as ‘whimsy’ and 'magical’? “No” you say? Shame.

Was it perhaps by searching for “Cool, Hip, Happening and Groovy” and therefore reaching the only logical tumblr?

Again with the “No”.

Well why don’t you just tell me?

“Dave Grohl”

Well, checks out, I have been posting about him. Little odd that someone gets to me on that though, must be a million sites about Mr. Grohl… Next…

Dude, I love H/S. Its like one of my all time favourite comics and I can pretty much understand that. I reblog any Hack stuff I see.

“L4D2 Cold Stream”

I do like me a little L4D2. I can see how that would have occurred on my blog, and also maybe why people might find me. I am excited for the new DLC.

“Sabu Vs Cactus Jack Desert Death Match”

Fucking A’ man. That rules. I know how I got there. I was listing matches from a Sabu DVD I wanted, and I know that match is on it. Thats still pretty cool though.

Whats next. Oh, this is the last one coming up you say? Well must be good then.

“who is the singer with asaurus rex n their name”

“who is the singer with asaurus rex n their name”

Well, I just don’t know what the fuck that is. So I suppose i’ll have to google it then. Oh what, I don’t show up. Not even in first eight pages. So whomever was looking for that answer kept plugging away with their google search until they hit my completely unrelated mess of bad poetry and moaning. I wonder what they thought. Person who searched for that. If you read this again, drop me an ask and let me know if you ever found what you were looking for… I hope you didn’t visit my page for no good reason.

If Chunky Munky is so delicious,

so tasty. Why is it on offer sometimes?

If it was, like that good. You’d just fucking buy it.

Yeah, this is bollocks.

But, the big wheels of commercialism, could do with to

learn a lesson from videogames.

Made the good shit (Chunky Munky) difficult

to obtain (That’s your job Ben & Jerrys)

and then maybe people will be more in awe of it.

NB. I don’t really like Chunky Munky. I like Fossil Fuel.

That is the trailer for Killer Elite, which looks like the motion picture equivalent of hard wiring a cable to the ‘awesome’ sector of my brain and then making a film out of it.

The Stath can do no wrong. He is just THE action hero of the day, and pairing him with Clive Owen, the 'original source of justice’ is just a great idea. Yvonne Strahovski and Bobby De Niro too. Its just a great cast.  Then have dudes beating each other up with chairs and setting it to a soundtrack of Scorpions hit: “Rock you like a Hurricane” and you have a recipe for success.

I’ll honestly be surprised if this isn’t a massive hit, it looks class. Explosions, badass dudes and a sexy lady, how can it fail?

Synopsis from IMDB:

When his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive, a retired member of Britain’s Elite Special Air Service (Jason Statham) is forced into action. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (Clive Owen).

Picture of Clive Owen being awesome in “Shoot 'Em Up”:

External image

Shoot Em Up is a modern action classic, and probably a lot better than you’d give it credit for. I’d tell you to give it a watch, but i’m assuming you have seen that Clive Owen is in it, and have just gone to buy it anyway.

and Yvonne Strahovski is Sarah Walker in Chuck. I love Chuck. Its great, and here is a picture of her for no other reason then its my blog and I can:

Does anyone else listen to Bliix? I mean, I assume loads of people do, but does anyone else I follow listen to him, its just frankly he’s awesome. This version of ET is blinding. I personally don’t know why he isnt being used as an actual producer, because metal versions of pop songs are one of the best things ever. His version of 3 by Britney is definitely better than the original, it just has a bit more oomph. Well a lot more. The Gaga stuff also works as well as the original versions. His version of Rihanna’s Only Girl.. is only of the only versions I don’t particularly care for, but I think thats because I really like the original, and think it sounds pretty massive anyway. Plus, the whole ‘string’ section and feel of it, is a little too 'Symphony of Destruction’

Click on some of these and listen:

1. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service

This I like because it beefs up the original, keeps the tone and feel of the normal version but turns up the intensity with some awesome guitar and almost tribal drum beat.

2. Lady Gaga & Beyonce - Telephone

This I like as it is a complete reimagining of the song, from the Outlaw Torn-ish verses to the thrashy pre-chorus and the deathy interludes. It might misfire at times, but the bits that really work are great music. The chord progression at 'sipping that bub’ just sounds tremendous with a bit of shiny guitar.

3. Nelly Furtardo - Maneater

Its obviously gonna work, and it does.

In the tradition of many of my more positive reviews. I will be brief about this, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it. It is a great monster/sci-fi flick. It has fantastic performances, especially from Delphine Chanéac as Dren. Brody and Polley have great onscreen chemistry and the film has exceptionally good CGI. Its a real masterpiece! Buy a DVD, sit down and watch it. Its AWESOME!

You know, I’m sick of following my dreams, man. I’m just going to ask where they’re going and hook up with ‘em later.

The first time I heard that quote, I felt better about everything. Mitch Hedburg told me that through some speakers and I smiled. Wisdom/Simple Truths are a connection you can’t lose with someone, and that quote from Mitch is for me is just something I identify with. I’m posting it, because it would have been Mitch Hedburg’s birthday today. Its a shame he’s not around, because he was a genius. He was 'The Dude’ of stand up.

His stand up albums were amazing. Buy Them!

His style was so lazily charming and a mile apart from other 'gag’ tellers, sifting through jokes and just putting them out there to hang in the air like nitrous oxide clouds. He had a great sense of timing, whilst seeming completely out of it. He was in his own league.

A great comedian.

Using wikiquotes I have sifted through some of my favourite lines and split them by album below.

Strategic Grill Locations

  • I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughnut. I don’t need a receipt for the doughnut. I’ll just give you the money, and you give me the doughnut… end of transaction. We don’t need to bring ink and paper into this. I just can’t imagine a scenario where I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. Some skeptical friend: “Don’t even act like I didn’t get that doughnut! I got the doc-u-men-tation right here… oh, wait it’s at home… in the file… under ’D’… for doughnut.”
  • When you buy a box of Ritz crackers, on the back of the box, they have all these suggestions as to what to put on top of the Ritz. “Try it with turkey and cheese. Try it with peanut butter.” But I like crackers man, that’s why I bought it, 'cause I like crackers! I don’t see a suggestion to put a Ritz on top of a Ritz. I didn’t buy them because they’re little edible plates! You’ve got no faith in the product itself.
  • This shirt is “dry-clean only”…which means it’s dirty
  • If carrots got you drunk, rabbits would be fucked up.
  • So I wish I could play little league now, I’d kick some fuckin’ ass.

Mitch All Together

  • I was gonna get a candy bar; the button I was supposed to push was “HH”, so I went to the side, I found the “H” button, I pushed it twice. Fuckin’…potato chips came out, man, because they had an “HH” button for Christ’s sake! You need to let me know. I’m not familiar with the concept of “HH”. I did not learn my AA-BB-CC’s. God god, dammit dammit.
  • I don’t have a microwave oven, but I do have a clock that occasionally cooks shit.
  • I just bought a 2-bedroom house, but I think I get to decide how many bedrooms there are, don’t you? “Fuck you, real estate lady! This bedroom has an oven in it! This bedroom’s got a lot of people sitting around watching TV. This bedroom’s over in that guy’s house! Sir, you have one of my bedrooms, are you aware? Don’t decorate it!”
  • Sometimes in the middle of the night, I think of something that’s funny, then I go get a pen and I write it down. Or if the pen’s too far away, I have to convince myself that what I thought of ain’t funny.

and this is probably my favourite joke of all time:

  • An escalator can never break–it can only become stairs. You would never see an “Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order” sign, just “Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience. We apologize for the fact that you can still get up there.”

Do You Believe In Gosh?

  • If I was the headless horseman’s horse, I would fuck with that dude. “Yeah, we’re going that way. We’re not headed towards the hay.” Imagine if the headless horseman had a headless horse, that would be fucking chaos. “We need a head!” Oh, I got a new headless horseman joke. I’d hate to be the headless horseman’s dentist. You wouldn’t make very much money.
  • I saw a sheet lying on the floor, it must have been a ghost that had passed out… SO I KICKED IT!
  • A burrito is a sleeping bag for ground beef.

I’d probably recommend starting with Strategic Grill Locations, (I got Mitch All Together first) and just going chronologically as it just gets better and better (from an awesome start).

I really enjoyed reading through those quotes, and just reading them made me laugh out loud.

Listen and enjoy.

Watch on

Kinda, like today in a concise review

Coheed & Cambria - Devil In Jersey City

Hair update. I combed it this morning, before my shower and it was literally mental. So I shampooed (or shamp’d as I am now going to call  this), and for the rest of today. I have felt my hair flopping on my head like a parrot with a towel tied to its head.

Hope to play some Smackdown and drink a couple of beers tonight, its been a long day. My back is hurting a little bit.

This is a continuation of things I am excited for having a house for:

Being able to find all my Coheed and Cambria albums.

I never get any C&C love on my tumblr dash… so probably everyone who reads this will be like, why do you want to find their cds asshole? Answer, I like them. Claudio is a great singer and a great songwriter. Listen to the above and enjoy. He writes great melodies, and to be honest, in D&JC they sound like a mix between Biffy & Rush. (And the Biff love a bit of Rush, so yeah… I think that was meant to be a point). I also love that they are a band who mix high concept albums with great pop songs:

I mean, just listen to:

Ten Speed Of Gods Blood & Burial

A summary of which (copied from wikipedia) is below:

Ten Speed is the manifestation of the Writing Writer’s evil thoughts in the form of a bicycle. Ten Speed tries to convince the Writer to kill off a character named Ambellina. Ambellina is a Prise who is sent to watch over the story’s main character, Claudio Kilgannon. The Writer discovers that Ambellina is based on his own cheating ex-girlfriend, Miss Erica Court, and to get over her, he must kill off the Ambellina character.

Come on, thats pretty fucking awesome! It is also a piece of great music, catchy as hell without sacrificing ideas for hooks.

Now for a picture of a chair I want:

External image

They see me swivelin’ in my armchair.

I mean, Don’t they know I’m playing xbox..

Don’t they know I’m playing xbox…

ad nausem…

Tonight, I think I am going to post a couple of rebloggy-pictures later. I am also going to begin researching a piece, I am going to write. (Its going to be called, what i would wear if I were a superhero, and if anyone has any reccomendations, please submit via ask[mainly looking at @jamesthegill). I really want to get warmed up again with my writing, I really don’t have much of a portfolio, considering I did a degree in it. Life kinda gets in the way of those things (life = eating doritos, playing xbox and moaning about things) and it really relaxes me. I know I’m not writing for deadlines or anything, but Its good to have a word splurge every now and again.

I need to type up the script I wrote earlier this summer, and well find it…

Finally, Its Been a long work day, started actually working at 7.45 and finished at 16.30, yeah its only an extra 45 minutes, but seeing as I was meant to finish at four, that extra half an hour can be properly draining. The sofa was really calling, especially because the drive home took me 20 minutes, was really slow. Should be about 10 to 15 minutes, and lunchtime I rushed about due to printer problems. Also, don’t know what to have for tea. So feeling a bit all around flabbergasted, for want of a better word.

Can’t wait for Laura to get home!

PS Forgot how much of a great song The Diary by FFAF is. Tales… Is a great record!

Final bit of this post. I am Hungry.

Number One in a series of ongoing, yet impromptu features on:

1. Kristen Bell

I’m a big fan of her in sporadic appearances in movies such as: Forgetting Sarah Marshall & Fanboys, even her cameo in Get Him To The Greek stole some of the limelight from Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, in a great little flashback/cameo. In fact, in FSM she is one of my favourite reasons to keep rewatching the film, I mean that film is awesome, but her turn as the titular Sarah Marshall is great comedy acting, she’s vulnerable yet dislikable, and manages to milk every laugh from the scenes she is in. I think its a shame that her cinematic career seems to be settling on the side of rom com stability rather than the path that her FSM co-star Mila Kunis has taken (Black Swan / Maxx Payne), admittedly not all of Kunis’ choices have been golden, but Kristen Bell is one of my favourite actors and barely gets to be in anything that really appeals to me.

On TV she is dynamite though and in Heroes, she played one of the few characters who wasn’t one dimensional, or Sylar. Elle Bishop should have been the stand out character of that show, but I think like most of the other good things about Heroes it got lost in the giant mist of ideas. Remember Heroes Origins? The spinoff series with Eps to be directed by Kevin Smith et al. They focussed too much on developing their world, than their stories, I think you can definitely add Elle Bishop to the list of balls Heroes dropped. Her guest role as Uda in Party Down was one of the highlights of that shortlived (but ace series).

Currently she resides as the titular voice of Gossip Girl, and is in the top three best things about that show (Next to Chuck and Georgina), with her voiceover providing some of the best bitchiness in television programming. Its a shame you don’t get to see her on camera, as she has the look for the show, and would make a great foil to Chuck as feisty entrepreneur rival. She would also give Leighton Meester competition in the adorable-big eyes-pouting game.

And… She’s also the only good thing about middling historical-sci-fi gaming franchise Assassins Creed, the only bad thing being that she appears in the crappy wander about doing bugger all futuristic bits.

And… Veronica Mars, yes, I bet you are surprised it took me this long to talk about it. I just didn’t want it to be the main thrust of my argument. Veronica Mars, and Bell’s starring role, are probably the two best things to happen to TV in the past ten years. She had it all as the teen PI, the classic ‘girls want to be her, guys want to be turned down by her’ swagger. Over three seasons she demonstrated her immense talents as an actor in both serious and comic performances. As VM she managed to stuff more 'have Le Baron, will kick ass’ attitude into every episode than her teen hero rival SMG did into her 7 years on Buffy (I love Buffy, but Veronica is way, way cooler). Veronica Mars is Iconic TV, and the KBells performance as the main character, was definitely cut down in its prime.

External image

If by some bizarre chance the TV/Film gods read this and decide, 'Hey, this guys right on!’ Then, take heed. There are already gangs of people campaigning for a VM Movie (sadly, something I feel will never happen), alongside a shouting of people for a Kristen Bell appearance in FOX’s Glee, something that seems altogether more likely.

I know that in 'Movie 43’ she is scheduled to appear as Supergirl in Robin’s Big Speed Date, a follow on to the Sam Rockwell(Batman)/Justin Long(Robin) short Robin’s Big Date. But thats note the role I see for Kristen in the Comic Book Movieworld. She has to play  Tulip O'Hare in the Preacher Film(s) or mini series, or however it is made. She is the perfect person, she is suitably fiesty enough and could hold her own against whomever would be cast as Jesse. With a background a mile apart from (but still interwoven with) VM’s Tulip grew up the only child of a Man who wanted a son, her mother having died during childbirth. Tulip grows up to be a beautiful, charming and talented marksman, who falls in and out of love with Rev. Jesse Custer. Kristen definitely shines heads and shoulders above her contemporaries being fan-cast in the role (Katherine Hiegl [ugh], Elizabeth Banks, Blake Lively and Diane Kruger).

Until her imagined oscar winning, Darren Aronofsky directed performance in Preacher: Gone to Texas (Part 1 of 9), we have Scre4m to look forward to in the cinema and Burlesque to appear on DVD.

Credit to @jamesthegill for finding/spotting this.

Thanks to: Lord Santiago for creating this little ball of awesomeness and putting it online via Deviant Art.

Its great, its a cute drawing and I think the art style is perfectly Josh Howard/Bruce Timm-esque whilst also retaining some of the BtVS animated style. The character model attention to detail is great, I like the neat touches (Buffy’s boots are spot on for her, and I’m not sure I can remember Cassie with the single tight/legging thing, but I think it works really well)

I’ll be completely honest, I’d love a Buffy, Hack/Slash crossover out of most things in the world, mainly because I think the awesomeness of a Faith and Cassie team up would be great. Also, Vlad / Spike has to happen if it ever were to come to be.

I also admire how the artist has managed to make the characters both appear equal, despite one of them being more well known than the other. Its just great overall and I really like it.

This Mass Effect / Chuck cross over piece is really cool too. Check out his art page!

  • Burrito:Hey, Hey... Hey.... Fella' listen up!
  • Man 1:To what, you're a fuggin' burrito.
  • Burrito:Harsh words man, I'd just made a plan s'all.
  • Man 1:Plan for a what? You. Are. A. Burrito.
  • Burrito:The plan was, for you to go over to the till, and rob some money off of the vendor. He sold me out, I wanted to be bought and eaten by a hot chick, and now I am pissed off. No offense, but you are a dude. A fat ugly dude. I am feeling pretty ripped off, he promised me I'd be sold to a hot chick. I've got some tips. I think you could get away with robbing him. That'd show him, yeah?
  • Man 1:I guess.
  • Burrito:...
  • Man 1:what do I do?
  • Burrito:Run up to him. And punch him in the face.
  • Man 1:Really? Thats your plan?
  • Burrito:Fuck yeah! Punch that bitch.
  • Man 1:Okay then. Hey you, vendor bitch! (PUNCHES VENDOR)
  • Vendor:Owwww! what did you do that for?
  • Man 1:Burrito told me to. Give me your fucking money.
  • Vendor:I have a gun. (VENDOR PULLS OUT A HAND GUN)
  • Burrito:shit.
  • Man 1:Shit.
  • Vendor:Piss off. (MAN 1 AND BURRITO RUN AWAY)
  • Man 2:Can I have a burrito please?

Pretty fucking massive. Its great, it really is. Evile continue to grow and show that they truly are one of the most essential british bands of recent years. Yes, British bands, not metal bands. They are the best thing this island has produced in a long time, each album has changed and shifted, mutating their intense thrash template to a feature progressive limbs and spidering song structures that grow with each listen. Plus massive riffs and business like that. Everything sounds massive, and that’s awesome.

Five Serpent’s Teeth is going to be crushing.

Its outstanding. Its great drama, great acting, and for a first time director Affleck steps back and lets the film do the talking. Affleck, Casey is great and carries the emotional weight of the film in a performance that he must find hard to top. His Patrick, is a true hero, a normal man with strong ideals. Michelle Monaghan is great as his partner. Everyone is great, I don’t want to talk about it too much, because it would spoil what is a great look at the issues surrounding child abduction and inner city poverty. Its top quality filmmaking. IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YOU HAVE TO.

Non-Lame Love Songs:

I bet you are thinking: “Hey! look! Its another person posting a bunch of soppy songs”

Well, asshole, you are wrong. These are like, fucking awesome songs. So get over yourself, you mong.

KISS: Forever

Yeah baby, KISS I started with KISS. You know this is going to be awesome. Forever, co-written with Michael Bolton. Is a classic, its proper last dance music. Its classic power ballad material and frankly the fact that it is not the 'Universal Anthem for Romance’ is beyond me. Just listen, it puts a massive smile on your face, you can sing along, you can air guitar. Its impossible to hate Forever, and if you do, its probably because you are a soulless automaton.

Also, just because you have to mention it. Boom, Beth with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Beth, Forever, Shandi, KISS are just great at love songs.

My favourite KISS love song has to be: Love Her All I Can though. Its just great. I love it. It reminds me of how I feel about the One I Love.

Anthrax: Safe Home

I did a feature on WCFYA a while ago, and I talked about this song there. This song is a lesson in why love songs don’t have to be sweet and saccharine. Its a declaration of love. Its how great love can feel. Cos, lets be honest. It does give you strength and it makes me do the patented ‘Scott Ian Thrashy Jumpy Guitar Dance’. I identify with this song, and i don’t just think thats what makes it great. Its a modern classic. Its a howl of longing, a cry for affirmation and belonging. Its that sick realization in the bottom of your stomach when you look into that persons eyes. Listen to Safe Home and feel it.

Plus, the guitar solo kicks ass…

Megadeth: Promises

If this song were sung by some overblown diva or elder statesman of pop, everyone would be freaking out over it. But its not, its Dave Mustaine, and apparently he’s not middle of the road enough for everyone to like, even though he is alongside Dylan in terms of his lyrical intelligence and as talented as Taupin/John in terms of songwriting ability.

Promises, is fucking enormous. Its King Dave. 'The World Needs a Hero’ is a conflicted album, but this and 'Dread & The Fugitive Mind’ are great pieces of music.

Listen to it, it will get stuck in your head. Lush strings, a great solo, awe-inspiring chorus and the mid-section constantly blows my mind. Its operatic in its enormity. Dave gets some stick, but he is a great songwriter and balladeer, see also: 'A Tout Le Monde’

Ramones: Baby, I love you!

All I have to say is: JUST LISTEN TO IT. Thats it really, with The Ramones, just listen to it. BILU, is just elegantly simple. I picked this over, 'I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend’, well because its better, and its more universal.

Foo Fighters: Everlong

I know, I know. Putting this on, makes me feel like Barry is about to say this to me: (in High Fidelity)

Barry: Oh, that’s not obvious enough Ryan. How about the Beatles? Or fucking… fucking Beethoven? Side one, Track one of the Fifth Symphony… How can someone with no interest in music own a record store?

But its true. I love this song, anyone who’s been around me, will know that 'The Colour & The Shape’ is my favourite album of all time. Everlong is on it. I love Everlong, who doesn’t its amazing. Its a great album, the lyrics to that song are beautiful. I’d also rate this song as another Foo’s love song classic:

Foo Fighters: Generator

I’m the Generator, firing whenever you quit
Yeah whatever it is, you go out and it’s on
Yeah can’t you hear my motored heart
You’re the one that started it

Not, the biggest song off of TNLTL, but its beautiful, its a great pop song and a great love song.

Laura, I’m doing these songs for you. I hope you’ve realised it by now…. I love you. This is like, our fifth valentines day together. And whilst, I don’t care too much for the cards and 'Wet Wet Wet’. It’s another reminder of how much I love you. I really do.

PS. This is my favourite Foo Fighters song ever: Hey, Johnny Park.

This next song, is probably the best love song of all time. I do not under-fucking state that. It is the king of love songs. It was written by Dr. Love himself and passed down by Cupid to one man, and that man’s name is James Alan Hetfield. He wrote it as a doodle and it grew into an emotional masterpiece the likes of which the world has ever seen. Its had bromance tributes and many cover versions. Any version of it, is great. I’ve gone for the version off the incredible S&M album. I can pretty much guarantee that even though all the metalheads who went were saying “fucking hell, Puppets is gonna sound awesome”, they were thinking, “how fucking beautiful is Nothing Else Matters going to be”

Nothing Else Matters is a rare song. Its timeless, its without boundaries. It is why Metallica are better than U2 or The Rolling Stones, its why Metallica are THE BAND of the past 50 years. No other band can collide with your ears and have such emotional resonance. From Nothing Else Matter’s poetic balladry, where Hetfield communes with his Inner-Lynott and transcends to another plane of songwriting, to 'Master Of Puppets, One & The Four Horsemen’ where they show that Heavy Metal is definitely the most interesting and inspiring form of music in existence. Metallica are awesome and Nothing Else Matters is beautiful. Thats a fact.

Listen to it, Let it swallow you whole…

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
